The Diary of Narcissa Dunn a new #historical romance by @Elaine_Violette #RLFblog

A quick interview with Elaine Violette, author of The Diary of Narcissa Dunn.

About the Author

Elaine writes British and American Historical Romances.  Part of the fun of writing Historicals, she says, is doing research into the past and creating characters that live and love in those sometimes glorious and sometimes harrowing times. A veteran English teacher, Elaine presently teaches public speaking part-time at a local community college. She is a member of Romance Writers of America and CT Romance Writers (CTRWA). Residing on the Connecticut shoreline with her golfing husband, Drew, she delights in being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Other favorite activities apart from reading and writing are nature walks, kayaking, and baking yummy desserts.

Interview with Elaine Violette

Why did you write this book?
My inspiration for The Diary of Narcissa Dunn came from a morning walk in a local cemetery in Connecticut. I came upon a monument from 1808. Its epitaph for an 19 year old woman named Narcissa captured my heart. I copied the inscription and saved it, knowing I would write a story based on it someday. Two other books came before Narcissa’s manuscript but the voice of the epitaph refused to be stay buried in my memory. The inscription included in the plot, speaks loudly. This is truly a book of my heart.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Historical Romance both British Regencies and American Historicals. I enjoy not only the romance but also the rich historical backgrounds. I also love stories that bring in paranormal elements and The Diary of Narcissa Dunn is a ghostly love story.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Oliver, from Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. I’ve come across no author who creates such descriptive, enticing characters as Dickens. Just think of Miss Havisham  in
Great Expectations! Authors can learn so much from his detailed descriptions.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
The Diary of Narcissa Dunn is the first in the Redemption series. Presently, I’m working on Book Two, which will continue the story of Olivia and her family.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Tensions rise between Reverend Fuller and his daughter Olivia when he attempts to control her choice of a husband. As Olivia experiences strange recurring dreams, other mysterious events create chaos in the parsonage, leaving the family on edge. Meanwhile, Benjamin Pratt, desperately in love with Olivia, discovers an old diary that reveals shocking secrets. He becomes an unwilling messenger, torn between revealing truths that could shatter Olivia’s heart, or destroy the diary and watch her marry another. Either way, he’s bound to lose her unless a mysterious woman intervenes.
