Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?
Yes, I write in several sub-genres of romance, including contemporary, erotic, erotica, historical, romcom, sci-fi, paranormal, suspense, and thriller.
How do you come up with ideas?
Honestly, they just pop into my head like scenes from a movie. I could be driving, at the mall shopping, enjoying dinner and suddenly I’ll see a scene in my head and think ‘what if…’ That’s when the ideas start flowing, showing me what would happen to the characters if I tried things this way, or maybe that way. Sort of like the alternate endings in The Butterfly Effect.
What is the single most important part of writing for you?
Revisions. That’s when I catch mistakes I’ve might have made while composing. For example in Lair, I had stated what some of the guys’ powers were in the early chapters. When I got to a later chapter, they didn’t have one of the powers any longer. I thought ohmygod, that is sooo wrong! I had to fix it pronto or the story wouldn’t have made sense.
When did you write your first book?
When I was nine. I called it Dimples the Adventurous Flea about a flea that jumps from dog to dog to ‘see the world’. When he’s on a French poodle, he’s in France. An English bulldog puts him in London. An Irish setter in Ireland. You get the drift. I even illustrated it then made copies and sold it to my friends’ parents in the neighborhood. My first book tour!

Describe the perfect vacation.
Being in a balmy locale (think Caribbean) with a caressing breeze, sun, the air scented by flowers and the sea, and me with a book. No people. No noise. No loud music. No barking dogs. Ahhh, such solitude is like heaven for me.
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
I liked dolls, but craft projects sent me over the rainbow. Anything I could create, color, put together, then wear (ala jewelry) kept me busy for hours.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
Believe it or not, I don’t read a lot of romance during my time off, unless it’s from my fave authors. Those are usually erotic romcoms and PNR. Other times, I love dark, dystopian stories like The Handmaid’s Tale by Atwood. Or my all-time fave The Millennium Trilogy (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) by Larsson. I love books that make me think and consider what’s going on in the world. A plot with substance to it.
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
I read everything I need to in order to become an ‘expert’ on whatever I have in the plot. For example, in Hard Lust, my heroine sold her soul to save her sister from a medical catastrophe that she couldn’t afford when it came to treatments, ongoing medications, etc. I had to learn what the state offered in terms of helping out. It’s little things like that you have to be careful about. If you get it wrong, some fan will call you up on it and rightfully so.

Thinking. Imagining. Envisioning. If I don’t see it in my head first, it doesn’t come out well on the page.

What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
Anything I can find on the net regarding the theme, locale, or the characters’ occupations. For example, in Sensual Stranger, Toni is a motorcycle performance artist.
