Meet Queen Morgan from King Arthur’s Sister in Washington’s Court #scifi fantasy @KimHeadlee #RLFblog

Meet Queen Morgan from King Arthur’s Sister in Washington’s Court by Kim Headlee.

    Author Bio

Kim Headlee lives on a farm in the mountains of southwestern Virginia with her family, cats, fish, goats, Great Pyrenees goat guards, and assorted wildlife. People and creatures come and go, but the cave and the 250-year-old house ruins—the latter having been occupied as recently as the mid-twentieth century—seem to be sticking around for a while yet. She has been an award-winning published novelist since 1999 (Dawnflight, first edition, Simon & Schuster) and has been studying the Arthurian legends for nigh on half a century.

Morgan le Fay, sixth-century Queen of Gore and the only major character not killed off by Mark Twain in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, vows revenge upon the Yankee Hank Morgan. She casts a spell to take her to 1879 Connecticut so she may waylay Sir Boss before he can travel back in time to destroy her world. But the spell misses by 300 miles and 200 years, landing her in the Washington, D.C., of 2079, replete with flying limousines, hovering office buildings, virtual-reality television, and sundry other technological marvels.
Whatever is a time-displaced queen of magic and minions to do? Why, rebuild her kingdom, of course—two kingdoms, in fact: as Campaign Boss for the reelection of American President Malory Beckham Hinton, and as owner of the London Knights world-champion baseball franchise.
Written as though by the old master himself, King Arthur’s Sister in Washington’s Court by Mark Twain as channeled by Kim Iverson Headlee offers laughs, love, and a candid look at American society, popular culture, politics, baseball… and the human heart.

    Introducing Queen Morgan the Wise

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever! We’re happy to have you here today.
    Name: Morgan
Age: Sixteen hundred and eight in the latter years of your century. In my rightful century, my age is none of your concern.
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: Tintagel Castle
    Profession: Queen of Gore
Ethnicity/Species (if not human): I am human. That is all that should matter to you mad people.
Describe your body and build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars.
My glorious silken hair is auburn. Anyone who calls it “red,” like that of the coarse, unruly mane sported by my dead husband, King Uriens, shall join our dungeon’s denizen who made that same mistake. Provoke me to exceptional anger, and I shall arrange faux funerals of your kin for you to watch from your window slit too.
All my other features are kept perfect by cause of my magic… or cosmetics, to which my assistant Clarice introduced me in your century. Using cosmetics in lieu of magic I have found to be ever so much more efficient in terms of energy expended, allowing me to focus my magic on far more important pursuits, such as causing the peerless Malory Beckham Hinton to become President for Life (she vetoed my idea to make her Queen of America, though I know for a certain fact that she would be quite good at it).
Who is the significant other in your life?
In my ancient life, the man I loved best was Sir Accolon, the comeliest of men and manliest of lovers. In the latter twenty-first century, Sandy Carter—who could be my dead lover’s twin—owns my heart, and I his. Sandy surpasses my dead lover in all respects, bedchamber prowess most especially, by a hundred fold.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
My name, Morgan, was chosen by my mother, Duchess Igraine, to honor the Great Queen of the Old Religion, Mór Rigan, goddess of war. My mother never knew how prophetic her choice would prove to be.
I am the daughter of Duke Gorlois, the sister of Queen Margawse and Queen Elaine, the wife of King Uriens of Gore, and the mother of Sir Uwaine of the Table Round. Blessed good fortune made me all of these things.
By the capricious hand of ill fortune, King Arthur became my younger half brother, spawned upon my most virtuous and blameless mother by that demon in man’s raiment, Uther Pendragon.
I despised Arthur from the very hour of his birth.
What is your viewpoint on wealth?
I love it, of course, and the more, the better. It can be quite the burden, but it does convey its own brand of magic too.
On what special skills do you rely?
Have you not heard of Morgan the Wise, healer and sorceress extraordinaire? What is the name of the rock under which you have been living?
What kinds of things do you always carry (in pockets or purse)?
I am never without my circlet, for I find it useful in your lunatic century to remain mindful of my true nature. Well… almost never. You shall have to read my chronicle to discover what caused me to become bereft of that symbol of royalty, which had to do with the other item I keep concealed upon my person for emergencies and which I am fully capable of wielding to deadly advantage: a dirk.
    Do you have children?
My only son, Sir Uwaine, lies dead and gone these past fifteen centuries. But a mother never forgets the tautness of that eternal bond, I assure you.
Do you care about what others assume about you?
La, what a question! I am a queen. Of course I do not give a single overripe fig for what the masses think of me; I do not require their approval, only their obedience. That said, however, there is one man whose approval I have sought more and more often of late: my lover, Sandy. He has been known to influence my decisions even when he is not present. I find that most disconcerting… and yet not at all unpleasant.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most want it to be, and why?
When Sandy reunited with his lost and presumed-dead sister, I discovered that I craved to see my long-dead brother, King Arthur, that I might set things aright between us. That wish looks unlikely to be fulfilled, alas, though I do remain hopeful that it shall come to pass one day.
What inner doubt causes you the most difficulty?
I never had experienced such a calamity of the arts as when my time-travel enchantment failed by three hundred miles and two hundred years. Since I know not how the spell went awry, I confess I have been afraid to assay it again, lest it leave me forever lost in time.
What are your biggest hopes and dreams?
Although I have experienced marvelous adventures in your shiny new century, and Sandy has become more dear to me than any other man I have ever known, I do hope I can one day return to my rightful era. I have made quite a fine place for myself as owner of the London Knights world championship baseball team, but I do not belong here. Sandy, naturally, wishes for me to stay,—but he is man enough to bow to my wishes in this sensitive matter. He is, was, and always will be such a daisy.

Ancient Ties #timetravel Jane Leopold Quinn @jelquinnauthor #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and
    introduces the story.

    About the Author

Sensual fantasies were locked in my mind for years until a
friend said, “Why don’t you write them down?” Why not, indeed? One
spiral notebook, a pen and the unleashing of my imagination later, and here I
am with more than a dozen books published. The craft of writing erotic romance
has become my passion and my niche in life. I love every part of the creative
process—developing characters, designing the plot, even drawing the layout of
physical spaces from my stories. My careers have been varied—third grade school
teacher, bookkeeper, secretary—none of which gave me a bit of inspiration. But
now I’m lucky enough to write romance full time—the best job in the universe!
And I’m fortunate enough to have found my own happily ever after husband.

    Interview with Jane Leopold Quinn

    Why did you write
    this book?
I’d always been fascinated by the
ancient world – Rome, Greece, Egypt. When I finally took my first trip to
England, the British Museum in London was a treasure trove, and the Rosetta
Stone was one of the many highlights.
But what turned out to be the best
for me was the Roman Museum at Bath, touring the baths, and seeing the
surviving artifacts. I was totally in love with everything there and had no
idea the real impact Bath would have on my life.
I took photos of everything I
could see – statues, pediments, mosaics, and a row of tombstones. Roman
soldiers’ tombstones. I took a photo then moved on. The actual bath itself was
much smaller than I’d thought but more impressive and beautiful than I could
    have ever imagined.
When I got home, I had my photos
developed – yes, this was years before digital cameras. All the pictures turned
out very well except for the one of the tombstone. The edges of the stone were
sharp, but the center where it was carved was hazy. Darn! I told my friends
that the Roman soldier’s spirit was coming out to meet me. Haha.
About a month after that trip, I
met the man who became my husband. After we’d been married a couple of years,
we went back to England (he’d never been) and our tour visited some of the
places I’d already seen. Bath and the Roman Museum was a repeat. I wanted to
retake the tombstone photo and hoped it would come out clear this time. I
wouldn’t know until we got home, because I still didn’t have a digital camera.
The photo was clear! This time I
claimed the carving was clear because the soldier approved of my new husband.
After another many years, I began
writing romance. One of my first inspirations was to write a story about a
third-grade Iowan school teacher (I’d been a third-grade teacher in Dubuque,
Iowa) who visits England and goes back in time to the Second Century Roman
Britain. Oh, yeah, and she meets a Roman soldier. Ancient Ties was born!
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
Big surprise — my favorite genre
is romance. In the past I’ve read almost every kind of book there is —
literary fiction, mysteries, biographies, non-fiction, Mad Magazine, and for a
while I binged on Pulitzer Prize winning novels. Also for a period of time I
read romances. Then I didn’t for years. When I first started writing, I
realized it was romance. I believe in Happily Ever Afters. I can’t abide crying
as a book ends unless I’m crying happy tears. Since I’ve written in many kinds
of genres, I also read all kinds — westerns, contemporaries, Regencies,
vampire. Reading has always entertained me and helped me through rough times. I
    can’t imagine living a non-reading life.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
If I say Mr. Darcy, is that too
cliché? To me he’s the quintessential romance hero. Tall, handsome, hunky sure,
but he’s got his wounds. They weren’t written by Jane Austen as we write
wounded heroes nowadays, but he’d been burned by events in his life and by
people like Wickham. He responded by closing down his emotions so another
person couldn’t touch him and hurt him. Once he looked outside his own pain and
focused on Elizabeth’s, then he came alive and accepted love. I’ve tried to
write my heroes that way, warriors afraid that love will weaken them, fighting
their need for a particular woman, not ever sure they will have their own
happily ever after, not knowing that’s the future they actually want.
    What are you working
on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’ve spent the last few months
working on self publishing books I got back from publishers. AND, I’ve been
creating my own covers. I don’t have Photoshop, but using what’s already loaded
on my computer and Paint and PowerPoint, I can make fairly simple covers. My
latest, Ancient Ties, was created by my using romancenovelcovers.com for the
top picture. The two lower photos of Stonehenge and the Roman Bath in Bath,
England were taken by me on my trips to England. I also created a cover for two
short stories I’ll be releasing soon in one volume, Scorching Mini Tales, with
a photo of the Eifel Tower that I took myself in Paris last summer. I’ve also
created several other covers. It’s been fun to use another creative part of my
    brain.
As far as writing, probably the
next thing I’ll work on is a western serial of short stories taking place in
one small town with all the characters connected. Working title is Scorching
Mini Tales of the Olde West.
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.
Nursing a broken heart, Janney Forrester flies to England for a much
needed vacation. She gets one—and much more. A drive through the countryside
and the sight of a mysterious heavy gold bracelet found nestled against ruined
walls draw her across the crumbling stone threshold of an ancient villa where
she beholds a Roman room in perfect historical detail. To add to the unreality,
there’s the most gorgeous, masculine man she’s ever seen, her every sensual
fantasy personified. Confusion by what’s happening to her vies with attraction
when Janney is thrust two thousand years into the past.
Roman soldier Marek Benin Verus considers the woman suddenly appearing
before him as a gift from the gods. Zeus knows he needs one! Battle fatigued
and emotionally scarred after fifteen years in the army, he’s on a leave of
absence and has all the time in the world to devote to seducing this beautiful
woman into his bed. He doesn’t plan on the powerful and dangerous emotions she
    inspires in him.
Marek’s hard, muscular body is too luscious to resist. Janney decides to
risk the comfort of her safe life and carpe diem—seize the day. Marek
seizes her body and takes her to the edge—and over—to an ecstasy she never knew
existed. Can a new world for her, timeless desire, and a loving exploration of
each other’s bodies forge a passion that survives centuries of separation?

Character Interview: Jacob, Cowboy of Mine @LB_Red_Author #RLFblog #timetravel

    Interview with Jacob Cameron

    Tell us about yourself,
    please.
Hello. I’m Jacob Cameron. Jake. I’ve heard from my older brother,
Duncan, he was interviewed here too, so I should have prepared better. Ach, but
’tis difficult to talk ’bout myself.
Um, let’s see. I was raised in Durness, Scotland, the Highlands
for those who don’t ken. I was raised in the 17th century, but was rescued by a
mischievous man who thinks he’s the Norse god, Odin, who shot me through many other
eras since I met him. Then I wound up in Montana in 1887, in a brutally cold winter.
However, I met my Meredith who’s kept me warm since.
    What special skills do
    you rely on?
Well, I’m fast. I hope that doesna sound as if I’m a braggart,
but I am fast. When the man calling himself Odin first landed me in the West, I
learned how to draw a pistol and how to shoot the new fangled rifles, which have
a hell of a lot better aim since the muskets of 1653. Anyway, I rely on my speed
    often.
Tell us about your significant other, that person who makes living
    worthwhile.
Oh, that’s my Meredith. Actually, I’ve come to learn she’s a
doctorate. Mighty smart wee thing, she is, my Meredith. Well, what can I say about
my sweetheart? She’s bonny, ye ken? And she’s just a wee thing, so when I saw her
the first time, I thought she was part fae. I ken, I was bein’ fanciful, but she
does so look like a fae with her little nose and huge violet eyes. Aye, that’s right.
She has violet eyes that stole my heart from the very moment I caught sight of her.
And, Lord, I havena even told ye about how brilliant she is, have I? She is. And
she’s generous. And brave. And, och, the list could go on and on.
    What would that person
    say about you?
Hmm, that’s a good question. What would Meredith say ’bout me?
Well, she tells me I gave her a home and a future to look forward to, and that makes
me right proud I’ve provided that for her. Makes me want keep providin’ that for
    her too.
    What is your family like?
(Jake laughs) My family, ‘cept my mother o’ course, was all lads.
My poor ma, right? So I had four brothers, but one of my brothers passed away in
a war now more than three hundred years ago. Still, I miss him, Douglas. My other
brothers and I are close, we’re the best of mates as well as being brothers, ye
ken? We’re all very different, but when we’re together, we all fit. And now my brothers
and I have been singled out by time-traveling deities. ‘Tis difficult to stay a
step ahead of the muses and gods flinging us through time, so we’ve discovered ’tis
best to just relax and enjoy the adventure while it lasts.
    Why are you happy (or
not happy) with the way your story ended?
Are ye jestin’? I’m very happy. I ended up with the prettiest,
wee lass I’ve ever seen. I have no idea how I got this lucky. But I am the luckiest
man alive, I’d venture to say.

    About the Writer

As a military historian by day, sometimes Red
does feel a bit clandestine when she writes romance at night. No one knows that
while she researches heroes of the past and present, she uses everything for her
characters in her books. Her secret’s been safe . . . until now.
She lives in Montana with her family and far
too many animals but never enough books.
    She loves her readers,
so please feel free to contact her at http://www.redljameson.com
    Why did you choose this
    character for the interview today?
As I began to write Jake, I just fell in love with the guy. He
tries so hard to do the right thing, in a world where right and wrong are blurred.
And he’s a guy very similar to a couple fellas in my life, the kind of guy—very
rare—who wears his heart on his sleeve. I really felt for him, because he’s had
a few broken hearts, so I had to give him a happily ever after of his own.
    When writing the book,
what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
Oh, Jake surprised me in every scene. He was so much more virtuous
than I had planned. Although, he’s in the Western era, in Montana in 1887, he’s
really a knight in shining armor. Okay, he’s a knight in shining armor who happens
to have a fast draw and looks good in a black Stetson.
    Are any sequels planned
    for this book?
Oh, yes! Jake has his brothers and there are other Highlanders
who need a good dose of time traveling and sassy, spunky heroines. So several more
    books are planned!
    What genre(s) would you
like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
Well, with time-travel romance I fulfill my love of both historical
and paranormal elements into one book. However, I would like to write historical
romance books and paranormal romance novels as well. I have too many story ideas.
So many ideas, too little time. However, I am thinking of no longer cleaning my
house to make more time. So please don’t visit me unexpectedly. Hee-hee!
    What would your readers
be surprised to learn about you?
Even though I have in my biography that I am a military historian,
I think most people find it surprising. I am a woman, and military history is a
very masculine career. And I can attest to that. I very rarely worked around other
women. I think that’s one reason why writing romance was so critical for me. I really
needed more women in my life, and romance writers are mainly women. Yay!

    About the Book

    Title Cowboy of Mine
    Genre Time-Travel Romance
    Author Red L. Jameson
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13 verging into R
Book Three of the Glimpse Time Travel Series
The matchmaking, time-traveling muses have a huge problem. An
angry Norse god has just captured one of their mortals, refusing to tell them where
he took Jacob Cameron, let alone when.
As a seventeenth-century Highlander, being shuttled through time
by a man calling himself Odin, might have been enough to crack Jake Cameron’s sanity.
He’s kept his mind only through grit, gumption, and the single goal to somehow return
to 1653 and his brothers. Landing in the freezing wilds of Montana in 1887, becoming
the sheriff for a small mining community, Jake now needs to make a plan to travel
back in time. However, when a wee fae-like woman walks into his life all his best-laid
    intentions becomes hazy.
As a thief and liar, Meredith Peabody knows she has no chance
with the new sheriff in town. Although, he melts her frozen heart with his protection
and smoldering looks. Even if she did have a chance with him, how could she ever
relate she’s not from this time? She might never get the chance because as soon
as she realizes her winter’s wish—for Jake to stay close—the criminal he’s hunting
turns the tables on him. But there’s no way in h-e-double hockey sticks Meredith
    will let that happen.
The muses have their work cut out for this glimpse—chasing after
a god, trying to find clues where and when their humans could be, and fitting in
time for dress shopping has been murder. Gods, hopefully not literally!

Character Interview Duncan from Highlander of Mine by Red L Jameson @LB_Red_Author #RLFblog #PNR

    Highlander of Mine

This character interview is with Duncan MacKay from the book
Highlander of Mine, a time travel romance by Red L Jameson.

    About the Book

    Title Highlander of Mine
    Genre Time-Travel Romance
    Author Red L Jameson
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13 almost R
Book Two of the Glimpse Time Travel Series
Trickster muse sisters, Clio and Erato, kidnap genealogist Fleur
Anpao and dump her in the seventeenth century. Even though Fleur has never been
to Scotland, let alone the Highlands, and feels like a modern-day fish out of an
ancient loch, the muses have a plan. What it is remains to be ambiguous—they are
mischievous muses, after all, and can’t just tell her. Though the logical genealogist
wants nothing more than to return home, there’s something about this time and rough
land that feels somehow familiar. And there’s something about Duncan MacKay—so strong,
so brutally handsome, and so distracting.
As a mercenary for long years, Duncan has seen many things. But
never in his life has he seen the likes of Fleur: more beautiful than any woman
he could have imagined. It doesn’t matter she insists she’s from another time, or
that she’s too far out of reach for a common man like him. He’s drawn to her intelligence
and wicked sense of humor. However, Cromwell’s reign threatens anarchy, clan rivalries
reach a peak, and a laird’s younger brother vies for her attention. He can hardly
protect her from his county’s bedlam, let alone convince her he’s the better man.
And if he does, will the bonny time traveler stay with him?
Making matters worse, a god wreaks havoc, or has fun as he calls
it, with Clio and Erato’s mortals. The two firecracker time stewards might have
to set down their margaritas for this glimpse!

    Interview with Duncan MacKay

    Tell us about yourself, please.
Ach, I never ken what to say for these kinds of questions. Not
much ’bout me, really. Was born and raised in Durness, Scotland. That’s the Highlands
for all those who don’ ken. At the age of seven and ten joined the army and was
a soldier for the rest of my life, save when Fleur Anpao and I met.
What is it that you want, but cannot have? Authors call this
    the conflict of the story.
My brothers. The fact is, as strange as this might sound, I’m
more than three hundred years old now. My brothers were prisoners of war when Cromwell
ravaged Scotland. I’ve been trying to find them since. But in walked this wee bonny
lass, my Fleur, and so much has changed since I met her. I was tellin’ ye ’bout
her in the question ye asked earlier.
What inner doubt causes you the most difficulty?
We need to have a few pints before I answer that.
Tell us about your significant other, that person who makes
    living worthwhile.
Oh, my Fleur. I wax poetic ’bout her. Me, can ye believe that?
A poet. All because o’ her. She’s the most bonny, er, beautiful women I’ve ever
seen. Her hair in the shade is the blackest black, like a raven. But in full sun
or when a firelight glimmers onto her hair, it shines back almost red. Not any kind
o’ red, ye ken. A cinnamon red. Ach, and the way she smells . . . Lord, I haven’
even told ye the best part about my Fleur. ‘Tis her heart, it is. She’s the strongest,
bravest lass—nay, person. And her mind! Did I tell ye she happens to be brilliant?
Oh, my Fleur, I’m not too sure what good or descent thing I ever did in this life
to have met a woman like her. But I’m damned grateful I did encounter her.
What would that person say about you?
(Duncan laughs) Don’ rightly ken. She tells me she loves my words,
and (he quietly chuckles again) my arms. She tells me she loves my mind too. But
she tells me she loves my heart most of all. Aren’t I the luckiest son o’ a bitch
ye ever kenned? Oh, excuse my language.
    What is your family like?
We laughed a lot. I had four younger brothers. Douglas passed
while fighting against Cromwell’s New Order Army. But my brothers, they made life
worth living while growing up. My step-da, their father, wasn’ much of a da, if
ye ken my meanin’. So we had each other. And our ma. My ma was a real strong woman
too. A healer, she was. She’d have been a physician had she been born in this time.
Aye, my family loved much, laughed as often as we could too.
Are you happy with the way your story ended? Why or why not?
Happy, aye. Very happy. But . . . I need to find my brothers
still. I’ll continue lookin’ for ’em. I will.

    About the Writer

You have the length of a tweet (140 characters) to describe
yourself as a writer. Let’s see what you can do.
Two names. One author. Hard to keep
both straight. Romance and myth. Paranormal and history. I mix them all up until
    I create a HEA.
Why did you choose to write about this character?
Although Duncan’s a quiet man, he was yelling at me to write
    his story.
Was there anything you discovered about this character that was
    a surprise to you?
He made me cry with his sweetness that he covers up, but it’s
    there.
When you wrote about this character, what made you the most
happy? What made you the most sad?
When Duncan started to fall in love with Fleur, I was most happy.
When Duncan went through turmoil, I was most sad.
    Why do you write?
I have to. I’m scared I’d never brush my hair and talk to myself
all the time if I didn’t.
What do you want to write next?
I am working on the edits of the third Glimpse Time-Travel Series.
Then will start a Regency series.
What other character from this book do you want to write about?
    Care to tell us why?
Oh, I do write about many of the characters from this book. The
Glimpse Time-Travel Series is such fun to see all my characters come back from time
    to time.
Are any sequels planned for this book?
Yeppers. Cowboy of Mine is next.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?
I love hearing from my readers! Please visit me and email!

    Author Bio

As a military historian by day, sometimes Red does feel a bit
clandestine when she writes romance at night. No one knows that while she researches
heroes of the past and present, she uses everything for her characters in her books.
    Her secret’s been safe . . . until now.
She lives in Montana with her family and far too many animals
    but never enough books.

    5 Easy Questions: Touchstone of Love @beth_barany #RLFblog #timetravel

    A Touchtone of Love
5 Easy Questions is an interview is designed to be quick,
easy, and fun. Today’s guest is Beth Barany.
    What is your go-to
meal to order when you dine out? Your favorite “I know it will hit the
    spot” item.
I love breakfast at any time of day, so depending on where I
am, I’ll usually get two eggs over easy with hash browns, bacon, and a side of
    steamed spinach.
    What were you like
    when you were in school?
Starting at age 12 in middle school, I was super studious
and worked hard to get A’s. But before then, I wasn’t paying much attention to
the teacher and would only do the assignments I liked: math and spelling.
Everything else wasn’t a nearly as interesting as the book I was reading at the
    time.
    Would you rather stay
inside and watch snow falling, or get out in it and build a snowman?
Well, that depends! Am I reading a great book? Then I want
to stay inside. But if I don’t have anything in my hands at the moment, I want
to get outside and preferably cross-country ski.
    What was your
    favorite book as a child?
I really loved The Lost Prince by Frances Hodgson Burnett.
    What was the last
movie you watched (home or theater)?
Turbo! What a sweet and fun film about holding fast to your
dreams and going after them with all you’ve got!

“…a unique take on gargoyles which I thoroughly
enjoyed. I highly recommend!” — Karysa Faire

    that.” — Kathy Horseman
