    Interview

Tell us about your story’s world. What is it like in this
    period or place?
In my Princes series, much of the stories take place in Noventia,
a fictional kingdom. For this book, I headed to Aronia, a neighboring kingdom that
    is like the “Paris”
of the semi-historical world I’ve created.
What inspired you to write this book?
    This is the fourth book
in the series, so of course the preceding books were inspiration. But I mostly drew
on the Robin Hood tale as I created Wren and Niall’s story. It was fun to create
a role reversal, which is typical in my books. Men aren’t the only ones who get
    to have all the fun!
Which character in your current book do you think readers
    will like the most? Why?
    Definitely Wren. Although
her brother, Wilhem, is quickly becoming a favorite. Wren is a strong heroine, one
who is determined to protect what she loves. It’s easy to fall a little in love
    with her.
    Why do you write?
    I write because I enjoy
it. No matter whether it gets published or not, I love weaving a story and making
it turn out exactly how I want it to. Even though sometimes my endings even surprise
    me!
When you’re not writing, what would we find you doing?
    Sleeping, I hope! If
I’m not at the day job, I’m pretty much stationed at the computer. There is so little
time as it is, that I have to squeeze in writing as much as I can.
When an idea hits you, what do you do to capture it?
    Typically titles come
to me first, so I usually jot them down in my “Story Idea” folder if I’m
at my computer. If I’m away from home, I make a note in my cell phone for future
reference. Inspiration comes to me when I’m driving usually, which is always a coin
toss on whether I’ll actually remember it by the time I get where I’m going.
What’s the best gift you ever received?
    Do you believe in luck?
    Since I’m fond of blackjack,
I would have to say yes. Also happy to say I’m a fairly lucky person…or maybe I
just always look at the silver lining.
Do you play any musical instruments?
I can play the piano a tiny bit. I also play the clarinet. Band
    geek here!
    What is your secret talent?
    I can blow a chewing
    gum bubble with my nose.
    What’s your favorite movie?
    Sommersby, a Civil War-era
movie featuring one of my faves, Richard Gere.
Are you the eldest, middle, baby, or only child?
    I’m two of these actually.
I’m the middle child, but I’m the only girl. So that means I’m special. ; )

    Please complete the sentence

    I love pizza with mushrooms.
    I’m always ready for bed.
When I’m alone, I must be daydreaming cause I’m never alone.
You’d never be able to tell, but I’m very shy.
If I had a halo it would be the
    one Beyonce sings about
    .
If I could win the lottery I’d retire.
I can never eat seafood because it stinks.
