    A Year of Light and Shadows in Scotland #Romance #Mystery @helenafairfax #RLFblog

Helena Fairfax writes contemporary romances with strong
heroines and heroes she’s secretly in love with. Her novels have been
shortlisted for several awards, including the Exeter Novel Prize, the Global
Ebook Awards, the I Heart Indie Awards, and the UK’s Romantic Novelists’
    Association New Writers’ Scheme Award.
Helena is a British author who was born in Uganda and came to England as a
child. She’s grown used to the cold now, and these days she lives in an old
Victorian mill town in the north of England, right next door to the windswept
Yorkshire moors. She walks this romantic landscape every day with her rescue
dog, finding it the perfect place to dream up her heroes and her happy endings.

    Interview with Helena Fairfax

    Why did you write
    this book?
A couple of years ago I submitted a short story for an
anthology of romantic suspense. The only guidelines we were given was that the
story should be set “somewhere hot”. I normally write contemporary
romance but as soon as I saw the call for submissions I was hit with an idea for
a suspense that I just had to write.
Sadly the anthology didn’t go ahead but the agent involved
loved my story, and she suggested I expand it into a novella.
I was more than happy to return to my hot bodyguard hero in
the Mediterranean :) – and so that’s how Palace of Deception, the first novella
in this present trilogy, came about. Once the novella was finished, I kept
wondering what would happen to my Mediterranean bodyguard when he came to live
in the heroine’s home in chilly Scotland. I had to find out – and so I wrote a
second novella called The Scottish Diamond.
Both novellas now form this present release – A Year of
Light and Shadows – along with a short story that rounds off the hero and
heroine’s year of mystery and romance.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
Besides loving contemporary romance, I also read lots and
lots of other genres – literary fiction, crime, thrillers, sci fi, even graphic
novels. I just love to read!
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Wow, that is a really, really hard question. I love
Georgette Heyer and so I think I’ll pick one of her heroines. So many great
ones to choose from, but I’ll plump for Kitty Charings from Cotillion. She’s
funny and spirited and generous, and goes from scrape to scrape, and her
long-suffering fiancé is one of my favourite heroes ever.
    What are you working
on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’m back to working on a contemporary romance. I have a
novel set in a hotel in the beautiful Lake District in the north of England
which I hope to release next year.
Please tell us about your latest book.
A Year of Light and Shadows
From the heat of the Mediterranean….
When the Princess of Montverrier goes missing, Lizzie Smith takes on the acting
job of her life. Alone and surrounded by intrigue in the Royal Palace, she
relies on her quiet bodyguard, Léon. But who is he really protecting?
    Lizzie…or the Princess?
    To the heart
    of Scotland…
Home in Scotland, Lizzie begins rehearsals for Macbeth and finds danger
stalking her through the streets of Edinburgh. She turns to her former
bodyguard, Léon, for help…and discovers a secret he’d do anything not to
    reveal.
A story of mystery and romance…
The approach of Hogmanay in Edinburgh means a new year and new resolutions.
Lizzie and Léon have put their year of danger behind them. But something is
still troubling Léon, and Lizzie fears the worst…

    Luke’s Redemption new #RomanticSuspense @AnniFifeAuthor #RLFblog

Luke’s Redemption is a new romantic suspense read by Anni Fife.
    About the Author
Anni Fife closed the door on a successful career in television, to fulfill her lifelong passion, writing. In the space of one month, she shut her business, packed up her city life, and moved to a small seaside village to begin her new life…as an author. Luke’s Redemption is Anni’s debut novel. She hopes you enjoy reading it as much as she loved writing it. Anni loves to spend hours walking on the beach searching for pansy shells, more hours drinking red wine with her gal posse, and the most hours writing steamy romance novels filled with hot alpha men and the sassy intelligent women they can’t live without. She is currently working on her second novel, Gray’s Promise.
Anni is published by The Wild Rose Press, and is a member of Romance Writers of America (RWA).
    Interview with Anni Fife
Why did you write this book?
I began writing Luke’s Redemption in June last year. It was one month after I left the city for the beach, and changed my life forever. It was also the first book I had ever written, or even attempted to write. I was able to stave off my panic because my basic plot came easy. The idea came flowing into my head a few nights before my departure. It was around midnight. I don’t know what triggered my creative juices, but suddenly I could hear Katya’s footsteps beating a desperate rhythm down a dark cobble-stoned road in the early hours of the morning. It was dead quiet. New Orleans was hung over from Mardi Gras. As I watched her, I realized I was looking through the scope of a sniper lens. Was I her hunter or her hero? Or both? My story unfurled at such a rapid pace I was terrified I’d fall asleep, and when I woke my idea, like an elusive dream, would be gone. In a mad spin, I spent the next hour typing manically on my iPhone. When I turned off the light, I had the beginnings of my novel. The next time I looked at it was one month later, when I sat down to write.
I wrote Luke’s Redemption for my own tastes. So if you like contemporary erotic romances with a lot of angst and some suspense; hot alpha heroes with damage; smart sassy heroines, also with some damage; and burning chemistry that drives lots of conflict, and even more heat—then why don’t you give this story a go?
What is your favorite genre to read?
I love mainstream fiction and thrillers, but my favorite leisure genre is Romance. I find that our world is an increasingly challenging place to live in, and we are surrounded by so many NOT happily ever afters. One of my favorite escapes is to soak in a bath or stretch out by the pool, and lose myself in a world of steamy romance, unpredictable  suspense, and a guaranteed HEA. This gets even better when it’s my job to choose the hot alpha male, the sassy intelligent gal, the break-ups, the make-ups…. you get the picture.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I’m sorry but I’m going to have to cheat on this question—because Luke Hunter is my favorite character. I think he will always be my favorite because he’s the alpha hero of my first novel. I created him in the image of Chris Hemsworth’s Thor character, so what is not to love? Besides his panty-melting looks, he is also a man who feels deeply and loves with an all-consuming intensity. The abuse and loss he suffered in his early years, shapes the man he has become. He has a singular focus which makes him a superior sniper in the military, and his protective instincts are through the roof. Luke is potently sexy, and has no problem using what nature blessed him with to his benefit. But when confronted with Katya’s pain and fear, we discover he has a depth of emotional intelligence that will bring you to tears. Well, it brings me to tears every time I read it!
What are you working on at the moment, and what will we see from you in the coming months?
I’m delighted to report that I’m nearly finished Gray’s Promise, book two in my King Security Series. (Luke’s Redemption is Book One.) It’s set in New York and Denton, Texas. Grayson Walker is Luke’s best friend, and he’s a deadly charmer. Zoey Morgan is his one-and-only. Torn apart by horrific tragedy, Gray and Zoey still carry the emotional scars fourteen years later. We follow their fraught reconciliation, and the unknown evil stalking them. Their journey is filled with pain, and a heart-wrenching beauty. And, of course, sexual chemistry so scorching it still gets me in a hot sweat when I think about it. I hope to release Gray’s Promise by June 2017.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Red-hot sex. Searing betrayal. A passionate and elusive love…
Chased by her criminal kingpin father, Katya Dalca runs to New Orleans and straight into the arms of Luke Hunter. Sucked into the carnal world of the French Quarter, she succumbs to Luke’s potent sexuality. He not only steals her breath, he steals her heart, and the only leverage she has against her father. She’s left with no choice but to pick up the pieces and rebuild her life alone.
Undercover DEA agent Luke Hunter thought his newest assignment—recover a stolen flash drive to gain the trust of the Russian mob—was like any other. But his target brings him to his knees, and after one taste of her intoxicating beauty, he’s in too deep. Doing his job means walking away, leaving his heart behind with nothing but a promise to reunite. It’s a promise he can’t keep.
When Katya’s past reaches out and her world unravels, her only hope is the one man she is most vulnerable to—Luke.

Meet Madison Lockwood from Seduction in Seville #RomanticSuspense @olivianightread #RLFblog

Meet Madison Lockwood from Seduction in Seville by Olivia Night.

    Author Bio

Olivia Night, a fictional character herself, has always been an avid reader and writer. She found the romance genre in college and has never been able to get enough. One sleepless night, the main characters of Book One in her Men of FTI  series sprang from her head fully formed. They demanded she tell their story; so she did. As they revealed themselves, so did two other intriguing characters. Those characters convinced her to give them their own books because their stories were worth telling too. And so Olivia suddenly became a romance author. When Olivia is not writing, she has the best job in the world, which, too, will remain a secret. In her free time, she reads, write, drinks wine, or is, most likely, out emulating Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olivia lives in one of the most diverse and vibrant cities in the U.S.—Baltimore. She lives with her cat, which she is convinced was a gladiator in his past life. Olivia plans to continue being awesome at this thing called life. Really, that’s her only goal.

    Introducing Madison Lockwood

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever! We’re happy to have you here today.
    Name: Madison Lockwood
    Age: 26
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: Madison, Georgia
    Profession: Nurse
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Caucasian
Describe your body and build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars.
Short, curvy, curly brown hair, big doe-like brown eyes, 5’1 110 lbs.
Who is the significant other in your life? Patrick Kane, the man who saved me years ago.
Please tell us a little about yourself. I grew up pretty sheltered. I was adopted and my parents were a bit over protected. In college I convinced them to let me join the study abroad program to Seville, Spain. None of us knew how that decision would change our lives forever.
    How do you dress?
I tend to like the classic style, meaning 50’s and 60’s. I like high waisted skirts and ballet flats with skinny jeans. It makes me feel super feminine.
How do others perceive you based upon looks, and is this assumption accurate?
That I am delicate or fragile. Perhaps at one time it was an accurate assumption. It isn’t anymore.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most NOT want it to be, and why?
The exact person who did show up recently, Dardan Kotta. The man who abducted me and kept me prisoner in a large human trafficking ring.
What inner doubt causes you the most difficulty?
For a very long time I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to allow myself to trust or be vulnerable. I still struggle with this at times, but Patrick helps me through.
What past event causes you the most fear?
The months I spent in the basement.
How emotionally expressive are you to others?
Not very, at least not anymore. With Patrick I am learning to be emotionally expressive again. But right now he is pretty much the only person I feel comfortable being emotional with.
What would you like people who hear your story to know?
It is possible to move beyond the things you think will hinder or define you forever.

    To Be a Spy by @JessieClever #Regency #romance #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

Jessie decided to become a writer because the job of Indiana Jones was already filled.
Taking her history degree dangerously, Jessie tells the stories of courageous heroines, the men who dared to love them, and the world that tried to defeat them.
Jessie makes her home in the great state of New Hampshire where she lives with her husband and two very opinionated Basset Hounds.  For more, visit her website at jessieclever.com.

    Interview with Jessie Clever

Why did you write this book?
This story is in response to emails and reviews from readers.  They all wanted to hear more about the Black family, a family of spies during the Napoleonic Wars.  And who was I to say no?  The Black family was happy to oblige with another adventure.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Historical romantic fiction especially when it has an element of mystery or suspense.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I’m going to be clichéd and say Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird.  Ever since he was brought to life by Gregory Peck, I have this weird habit of picturing him as God.  I really do.  There’s just something comforting about that character.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I have just started working on the Shadowing London series, a Regency romantic suspense trilogy that will follow the story line set up in the Spy Series short stories.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Samuel Black must make a decision: to be a spy like his
    father or follow his heart.
Either is likely to give his mother chest pains.
For Samuel is no longer a lad with the ambitious and noble
wish of being a lamplighter to keep the seedy streets of London safe. About to
embark on university, his mind stirs with the thoughts of creating a policing
force in London to safeguard its citizens. Held back by his family’s legacy as
spies, Samuel does not make his ideas known.
But when he stops a would-be purse-snatcher, his path
unexpectedly veers into that of one Miss Penelope Paiget, and suddenly, Samuel
    must make a choice.
The short stories in the Spy Series:
    1. To Be a Spy
    2. To Be a Duke
    3. To Be a Lady
    4. To Be a Debutante

The Spy Series short stories take place after the conclusion
    of the Spy Series.

    Solitary Man a new #romanticsuspense by @dianebenefiel #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

Diane Benefiel enjoys writing contemporary romantic suspense. A high school history teacher in her day job, she is always searching for pockets of time to write. Diane enjoys spending time with her husband and two mostly-grown children. They recently bought a trailer and have taken to the open highway to expand their ‘been there’ list. A huge fan of the national parks, last year she visited eight, including her current favorites, Capitol Reef and Mesa Verde.  Visit www.dianebenefiel.com to stay abreast of new happenings.

    Interview with Diane Benefiel

Why did you write this book?
I love the idea of a strong man who falls in love with his friend’s wife – that’s what got me started on Ryder’s journey. He has to protect Brenna, and still protect his heart. Ryder was the character in my head that wouldn’t let me rest until I wrote his story.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I write what I read – romantic suspense. This genre has so much potential for conflict and tension that it keeps me turning the page. I love experiencing characters who get swept into dangerous situations where they must rely on each other to survive – nothing amps up sexual tension better. Another favorite genre is westerns. When I was young, I read Louis L’Amour novels and watched John Wayne movies – I think this is where I developed a love for the wide-open spaces of the West. The image of the cowboy rancher appeals to me, though in the back of my mind is a story of a female rancher that I might write someday.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
In literature, my favorites are those characters who seek justice, like Atticus Finch and Reverend Casy. In romance fiction, a character who has stuck with me is Abigail Lowery in Nora Roberts’ The Witness. She is an amazing woman with incredible strength and resilience. She doesn’t need a man to protect her or make her whole, so when she does meet a man who challenges her comfort zone (Brooks is downright yummy), she is strong enough to meet that challenge.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
Speaking of westerns, I am currently finishing a romantic suspense set on a ranch in the eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The story begins with the heroine Addison arriving at the ranch of her nemesis Elijah MacElvoy after she witnesses a murder. Despite their history of dislike and distrust, Addy knows that the only place she will feel safe is with Elijah.
Please tell us about your latest book.
    ALONE…
After surviving a deadly Taliban attack on his unit, Sgt. Ryder Bronson returns home to fulfill a promise—to keep his dead friend’s wife safe from a scandal so dark that it threatens her life. But protecting her from a distance is essential. To be in close contact with Brenna McMurtrey means fighting the guilt and desire waiting to destroy him. Being honest with her would reveal more than his heart can bear.
    TOGETHER…
Over a year after the death of her husband, Brenna is finally ready to move on. Yet, just as she begins to push past the grief and start living again, danger rises at every turn. Several close calls prove she is the target of a sinister scheme. Nowhere is safe, especially not home. Her next-door neighbor appears to be watching her, a handsome if bad-tempered stranger who seems everywhere at once—and whose gray eyes hold an ocean of tragedy. Even if he is capable of protecting her, a part of Brenna will still be in jeopardy. The part that believes she can never love again.
