Meet Stormsinger from Ring of the Dragon

Fiction Furbaby: Meet Stormsinger from Ring of the Dragon by Kayelle Allen @RobsRescues #RLFblog #PetsFull name: Stormsinger

    Gender: Male

    Species: Dragon

Physical description: About 17ft high, 60ft wide, Has pearly white scales with teal blue trim around muzzle, wings, and feet.

Relationship to main character: Cross between best friend and spirit animal

Relationship to the villain/antagonist: Dinner. :)

Where this furbaby came from: The planet Stachien in the Colonies of Man, central part of the galaxy.

What does the main character think about this furbaby?

Pietas dreamed about this dragon for centuries before they met. He was there when the baby hatched from an egg, and Stormsinger bonded with him at birth.

How do other characters react to or interact with this furbaby?

Upon first seeing the dragon, most are in shock, but unless the person is an enemy, they are soon won over and delighted to meet him.

What does this furbaby add to the story?

In Ring of the Dragon, Stormsinger is the voice of reason at the beginning and end of the story.

What about this furbaby will readers like, and why?

Stormsinger has a sense of humor and is gentle and wise. He's also able to eat a literal horse, if hungry, but he tends to hunt less "necessary" animals like sheep and goats.

Please share an interesting fact or tidbit about this furbaby.

Stormsinger has a twin sister who is red with gold trim. Fireshade enjoys the simple things in life and much about humans evades her. She tends to see things in dragon terms. And she absolutely loved yellow apples. They don't grow on her homeworld, though, so whenever she visits Pietas, he makes sure to have a basket of them for her.

Describe a humorous incident involving the animal character.

Pietas was once in a serious fight, and because he and the dragon have a psychic link, the dragon recognized Pietas was in danger. At will, the two can trade places, even across vast and stellar distances. The dragon swapped places with Pietas and ate the enemy. However, when Stormsinger left, he'd been flying. Over the ocean. Guess where Pietas ended up?

For millennia, they fought side by side and loved with equal passion.

How does a king rekindle a lost love? Especially when the other party wants no part of the first party.

I'm Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog and today it's my turn to share a book

Ring of the Dragon by Kayelle Allen

    Genre Sci-Fi, Romance, Paranormal

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

He must have a shadow to balance his light...

Let's chat about what to eat

First, what is your name and how old are you?

Pietas, and I stopped counting at twelve thousand. It seemed like overkill for an immortal.

What is the time period in which you live?

In the Tarthian Empire where I currently reside, it's the year 4664, but that is thousands of years ahead of your time.

    What is your favorite meal?

    Grilled fish and vegetables.

If any, what food do you refuse to eat?

I have quite literally starved to death before. There is no food I won't eat.

Tell us about a meal or food that says "home" to you.

Fish cooked around a campfire followed by those sweetish brown crackers. You put a white puffy thing on a stick and hold it over the fire until it starts to melt, and then you put that between the crackers and chocolate. I don't know what you call them, but I call them delicious. They are the perfect end to a campfire meal shared with friends.

When you find yourself with some type of unknown food on your plate, what do you do?

I ask questions, poke at it a bit, but inevitably, I eat it.

Have you ever eaten military style rations, and if so, what was your favorite?

For more years than I care to count. Anything that comes in a box that heats itself is a winner.

If you cook, what kind of food do you like to prepare?

I am hopeless in the kitchen, but my staff sees that I never go hungry.

    Favorite alcoholic beverage?

A flavorful wine, especially one grown in vineyards owned by friends.

    Favorite non-alcoholic beverage?

    Clean, fresh water.

What do you grab when there's no time for a regular meal?

Whatever holds still long enough for me to put it into my mouth.

Who are your favorite people to share meals with?

The people on the High Council, and other dear friends.

Tell us what your author eats or drinks while writing about you.

Kayelle guzzles water, but she also drinks a caffeine free sugar free Coke. And coffee with cream and chocolate. Hot herbal tea in the evening. Sweet tea in the morning. Hmmm. She drinks a lot, but I've only seen her drink alcohol or wine on rare occasions.

What do you feed your pet/s?

Tiklaus is a ginormous panther who rules our home and eats whatever is put within reach. I make sure it's healthy and fresh.

Know the Hero from Ring of the Dragon

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.

It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?

That’s a bad thing for Pietas. If left to his own devices, he tends to get into trouble. Or start it.

What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?

He’s not driven by appetite. He likes most food. But he’d probably go for some chips or similar food if he wanted a snack.

Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.

He lives in uniform. It’s white with teal trim, with knee high boots. But in private when relaxing, he pulls on a loose tunic and pants, and then goes barefoot.

Does he know how to fix things?

He’s over 12k years old. He’s broken more things than most people could ever fix, but he’s learned how to put most stuff back together.

He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

Pietas had been held up at gunpoint and refused to surrender the ring he was wearing (the item for which the book is named). He got knocked out cold by a pulsewave that would have killed a human. He came to only after being tossed out of low-hovering shuttle into a river. He did get the ring back, however. Others have tried to steal it, but no one has gotten away with it. He’s had the ring for hundreds of years. It was a gift from a dear friend / ex-lover.

How does he act around children he doesn’t know?

Children seem to like him and they are comfortable around him, yet adults view him as cold and distant. Perhaps he lets down his guard more around kids.

What is he like first thing in the morning?

Wakes up the moment he opens his eyes. No such thing as groggy with Pietas.

How does he act around people who don’t know what he is?

Reserved, quiet. He lets others talk and reveal themselves.

Will he let a worker handle things or do it himself?

He expects someone to whom he delegates authority to handle the situation. Pietas might do it better and faster, but he believes in training others so he doesn’t have to do it himself. He’s taught himself “forbearance” rather than patience. As he says, you don’t gain patience by having everything go your way.

    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?

His skin rejuvenates so fast there is no time for ink to settle in before it’s gone. He does, however, seek out body modification artists when he’s in a new city, and asks for a piercing at the end of his left eyebrow. It lasts only a couple days and he will wake up to find it on his pillow. When he’s depressed, he will ask for a small tattoo of a dragon, usually on an upper arm. It has to be small, otherwise, the artist would see the first part of the work disappearing while the last is yet incomplete. Pietas says pain helps him focus and gain insight, but he does not self-harm.

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

Hired. His ship, Le Persequor, is absolutely massive. It could never land on a planet. The style of vehicles changes from one world to the next, so rather than buy one on each, he uses hired vehicles. Whatever the equivalent is to an Uber or taxi. Or he calls up someone he knows on that world and asks them to ferry him around.

    Recycle or toss?

Always recycle. He wastes nothing. Even food goes into compost.

Thanks for helping us get to know your hero!
