Read Goldberg Variations by Lisabet Sarai @LisabetSarai #RLFblog #RomanceA gorgeous and exquisitely talented cellist becomes the apex of a love triangle in Lisabet Sarai’s polyamorous romance Goldberg Variations. Al and Harv Goldberg each fall for the newest member of the respected Goldberg Trio, unaware that they’re both targets for her affections.

Lisabet, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Goldberg Variations.

    Goldberg Variations by Lisabet Sarai

    Genre Erotic romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

All great music is born of passion

    A violinist, a violist and a seductress.

For twenty-two years the Goldberg brothers – Richard on cello, Harvey on viola and Albert on violin – have made music together, earning a decent living and a modicum of respect in the classical music community. When Richard’s sudden demise forces Harvey and Al to find a replacement cellist, neither can imagine how their new colleague will shake up their middle-aged lives.

Deidre Rasinovsky-Corbatta is an unlikely addition to the Goldberg Trio, a shapely siren with purple hair, scarlet lips and a rose tattooed on her ample breasts – but she plays cello like an angel. The passion she pours into her music spills over into her relationships with the two brothers. When both Al and Harv fall in love with her, will this tear the trio apart – or transform it?

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Actually, there are only a few romance genres that I have not written. My back list includes contemporary, historical, paranormal, steam punk, science fiction. LGBTQ, power exchange, ménage, multicultural – pretty much everything except Western romance and sports romance. I haven’t written any motorcycle club romance or mafia romance either, but I would not rule out the possibility that I might in the future.

My reading tastes are diverse and eclectic, and that carries over into my writing. I love experimenting with new genres. From an author branding perspective this probably isn’t the best strategy, but at least my readers are not likely to get bored.

How do you come up with ideas?

I have dozens of ideas rattling around in my head or jotted down in my notebook. Almost anything can serve as the seed for a story: personal experiences (especially travel), a stranger I catch sight of in the distance, a song. Sometimes a title will pop into my mind, and the tale with follow. Sometimes the trigger is a “what if” question or some news article.

When I was writing for a publisher (as opposed to self-publishing), I’d often respond to their calls for anthology submissions. I liked the challenge of finding a creative, distinctive approach to these calls, something beyond what the publisher might have expected.

Actually quite a few of my books had their beginnings as reactions to established genre tropes. I love taking the stereotypes and turning them upside down. I want to surprise and delight anyone who picks up one of my books. The worst thing I can imagine is for readers to consider my work predictable.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

I love the process of writing, taking some vague inspiration and shaping it into a story. Sometimes it’s painful, trying to get the ideas out of my mind and onto the page, but at times it feels like magic. The words flow freely from my imagination to the page. The internal critic is silent. This is such an intoxicating experience – like an altered state of consciousness or waking dream. Sometimes after a writing session like that, I read the results and simply marvel, wondering where this marvelous prose came from.

The other thing I love is hearing from readers who’ve enjoyed my work. Writing is wonderful, but so is being read and appreciated.

When did you write your first book?

I’ve been writing stories and poetry all my life, but my first novel, Raw Silk, was published by Black Lace Books in 1999. That book is now in its fourth edition. To be honest, I’ve kind of lost track of how many novels, novellas and short stories I’ve released since then. In such a long career, books go in and out of “print”, stories get revised and republished – what’s important to me is that I continue to create new work.

    FUN

Leather or lace? Considering the climate where I live (in the tropics), it’s got to be lace
Black or red? Red, without a doubt. Crimson, scarlet, vermilion…
Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Smooth cotton.
Ocean or mountains? Ocean heals my soul.
City life or country life? These days, I’m a city gal. I love the convenience.
Party life or evening at home? How about a party at home?
Dogs or cats? Cats. How can you even consider asking?

Since then, she has penned plays, tutorials, scholarly articles, marketing brochures, software specifications, self-help books, press releases, a five-hundred page dissertation, and lots of erotica and erotic romance – over one hundred titles, and counting, in nearly every sub-genre—paranormal, scifi, ménage, BDSM, GLBT, and more. Have you read 88s, Baby by June Kramin @junekramin #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomanceJessica was wandering the highway after a storm when Quentin stops to help. His tractor trailer proved not large enough for her emotional baggage, but his immediate love of her was more than adequate.

June, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about 88s, Baby.

    Thanks for having me!

    88s, Baby by June Kramin

    Genre Contemporary Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

    It’s currently just 99¢ – it’s book 1 of 2

When a terrible storm takes Quentin on a detour, he finds something far more dangerous than tornados and hail; he finds Jessica, who threatens to leave a gaping hole in his heart.

Jessica is running from more than a storm. A painful secret from her past has left physical as well as emotional scars. Although she finds herself falling for Quentin, she flees the safety of his company, convinced he’d be better off without her.

Unfortunately, trouble finds her before Quentin does. Freeing Jessica from a would-be kidnapper is just the beginning. Convincing her to forget her past proves to be an even tougher challenge as he persuades her to return with him to his Texas home.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Yes, I do. I also have a middle grade fantasy series, Before Happily Ever After, under the pen name Ann T Bugg. The stories are fairy tales and folklore retold, with the shenanigans only my 2 characters, Valerie and Samantha can deliver. It ranges from sweet Snow White and Rapunzel tales, to helping King Arthur and Captain Nemo, and they even find the lost cities of gold and Atlantis! The first book in the series is currently free.

How do you come up with ideas?

I honestly have no clue. I’ve always said I have nothing to do with my writing process! Ideas hit me when the characters are good and ready. (This is the part where you run from the crazy writer…) I had one character interrupt me when I was in the middle of book 4 of my romantic suspense series and demand I write his next book. It was actually the favorite of many fans, so it pays to listen to them. (The others waited patiently for me to return. *whew* )

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

I hope to make an escape for the reader. I love when I get an e-mail, “You kept me up last night!” Things are depressing enough these days. I want the reader to be able to be lost in another world and hopefully, with a new book boyfriend. I receive that e-mail a lot about Quentin! I have to admit, he is one of my favorites. (Don’t tell the others.)

When did you write your first book?

Although I had been told I would be a writer since I was in third grade, I was forty before I actually sat down to write. When I did, it was a full-length novel. I didn’t have dozens of spiral notebooks like many of my friends with tons of unfinished stories and ideas. I never did the article, short story, novella thing. I went straight to 80K. I went from there to a middle grade, and back and forth for years. Fifteen years later, I’m at thirty books published. Seems like it went by in a blink.

    FUN

Leather or lace? Neither really. Lounge pants all the way!

    Black or red? black

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? cotton

Ocean or mountains? Ocean – Maui girl here.

City life or country life? Country

Party life or evening at home? At home and in bed by 9! LOL

Dogs or cats? Yes please. Love them both! Although I only have geckos now.

Read Rough Weather by Lisabet Sarai @LisabetSarai #RLFblog #ParanormalRomance #PNRA young woman is forced to acknowledge her true nature in Lisabet Sarai’s new paranormal erotic romance Rough Weather, when a dark stranger who kindles uncanny desire insists that she is his eternal mate.

Lisabet Sarai, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Rough Weather.

Rough Weather: Elemental Passions Book 2 by Lisabet Sarai

    Genre Paranormal erotic romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): Rated X

Destiny hides in the tempest’s heart

A fated encounter. A familiar stranger. A storm of passion. Can Ondine release her fear, surrender to Marut’s power, and claim her own?

Marine biologist Ondine Ambrose has always felt at home in the sea. Orphaned at birth and raised by her grandmother on the island of Martha’s Vineyard, she has never really questioned her extraordinary affinity for the watery world.

When she encounters an attractive but arrogant engineer on her private beach, surveying the site for a prospective off-shore wind farm, anger is her first reaction. A casual touch, however, transforms that emotion to incomprehensible, irresistible, terrifying lust.

Ebony-skinned Marut has his own talents—aside from his uncanny ability to swamp Ondine with desire. He can control the winds and summon storms. When he insists that they are both more than human, and that she is his destined mate, Ondine responds with skepticism. She tries to resist the charismatic Haitian, but ultimately she cannot deny the evidence of her senses—and her heart.

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…

My publication history includes contemporary, paranormal, science fiction, steam punk, historical, interracial/multicultural, mystery and suspense, BDSM, LGBTQ (both FF and MM), menage and polyamory, and romantic erotica. About the only genres that I don’t write are Christian, Western and sports romances. And who knows – I might tackle those at some point! I love to stretch myself and try new things.

The disadvantage of this genre multiplicity is that I don’t have a clear brand. That makes marketing a major pain. The advantage – my readers can always expect something new and exciting!

How do you come up with ideas?…

That varies tremendously depending on the book. Sometimes a title will pop into my head, demanding that I wrap a story around it. Sometimes a book will begin with a character’s voice haranguing me. Not infrequently I’ll start a book as a reaction to some other book, event or trend. For instance, my contemporary romance The Gazillionaire and the Virgin was inspired by my frustration with the flood of billionaire BDSM romances that followed the success of Fifty Shades. I had the perverse desire to twist all those tropes beyond recognition.

Rough Weather was inspired by my writing of another book about elementals entitled Hot Spell. I hadn’t really expected this, but the characters of Ondine and Marut showed up at the end of that romance and demanded a chance to tell their own story.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?…

I guess I’d have to say the intense joy that accompanies being “in the zone” – when the words and ideas flow and writing seems effortless. That’s an incredibly intoxicating and fulfilling experience. (Too bad writing isn’t always like that!)

A close second has to be connecting with readers. When a reader emails me, telling me she enjoyed my story, or someone leaves a review that shows she really “got” what I was trying to express, that can make my entire week.

When did you write your first book?…

My first novel, Raw Silk, was written and published in 1999. It is now in its fourth edition. I’ve been writing continuously since then.

Of course, like most authors, I did a lot of writing before I ever considered publication, simply for fun or to amuse my private readers.

    FUN

Leather or lace? Lace for me, leather for my characters

Black or red? Red, if I have to choose.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton, unquestionably. I live in the tropics.

Ocean or mountains? Ocean – with mountains in the distance!

City life or country life? When I was younger, I lived in a rural village, but now I appreciate the convenience of city life.

Party life or evening at home? Evenings at home make me appreciate the occasional party.

Dogs or cats? Cats, no question. I’m happily owned by two at the moment.

Safe with a SEAL – Trusting The Bodyguard by Maura Troy

    Genre Romantic Suspense

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

If she goes it alone, she’s as good as dead.

Jessie Haynes has never relied on anyone. So, when she’s targeted by a ruthless killer, accepting the help of a persistent private investigator is the smart choice, but it isn’t easy. Reeve may be hot as hell, but she has no intention of letting him call all the shots and invade every corner of her privacy. It’s bad enough that unless they can stop the madman who is stalking her every step, she may have no choice but to reveal the painful secret that has kept her alone for years. Jessie knows her sexy new bodyguard will do everything he can to keep her alive, but he may be powerless to stop her past from destroying her future.

Determined to make up for a mission gone lethally wrong, former Navy SEAL turned P.I. Reeve Buchanan is hot on the trail of the cunning murderer who got away. He’s got no time to waste catering to the exacting demands of the luscious red-head who’s reluctantly tolerating his protection. Especially when he’s sure she’s not telling him all there is to know. But as he finds himself falling for Jessie, his need for revenge takes a backseat. With the killer closing in, Reeve must figure out a way to gain her trust before she becomes the next victim. Because if he loses her, it will kill him too.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…

Not at this time. But I do have a small town contemporary romance idea percolating in the back of my brain…

How do you come up with ideas?…

Writing prompts sparked the ideas for the first two books in my series. I also enjoy playing the “What if?” game. For example: What if a woman came home and found a strange man in her living room? Who is he? What does she do?

What is the single most important part of writing for you?…

Having fun. If I’m not enjoying what I’m writing, then I doubt my readers will enjoy reading it.

When did you write your first book?…

Between 2008 and 2010. It was a contemporary romance that will most likely never see the light of day. At least not without extensive rewrites!

    FUN

Leather or lace? Leather has the edge, but I like lace, too.

    Black or red? Black

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? I don’t think I’ve ever slept on satin sheets so I can’t really say. Something else to add to the bucket list!

    Ocean or mountains? Both

City life or country life? Country mostly, but I grew up in a big city (NYC) so I definitely still enjoy all the fun and games a city has to offer.

Party life or evening at home? 90% evening at home, but every now and then bring on that 10% of party life!

Dogs or cats? Both. Plus birds, gerbils, iguanas, rabbits, horses, goats….I don’t actually own all of those types of animals, but I would if I had the space, time, and the money. So it’s just one dog at the moment, and my husband and I enjoy spoiling him rotten.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G

Fresh on the heels of romantic heartbreak, Miss Isabelle Camden agrees to become companion for the sister of a busy, arrogant duke. She plans to keep her distance, but when a snowstorm strands them outside London for days, an unexpected dare sets propriety at naught…and sends her into the duke’s arms.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Yes, I write Historical romance, and fantasy.

How do you come up with ideas?

From everywhere. I’ll see or hear something in the news or snippets of overheard conversation, or a bit of a song lyric might suggest something. In Miss Camden Kissed the Duke, it being the third book in a series, since she was the youngest Camden girl, her story came out of the family’s stories in the first two books. Specifically, she always had a crush on the hero of the second book, but as that was an impossible story to tell (given he found his HEA in book two), I introduced Isabelle to a hero of her own—the Duke of Huntersvale. ;) There were also other bits. As young ladies in the 1800s were supposed to be well-bred and had a myriad things they weren’t supposed to do, and I always like to have my characters buck those traditions, I gave Isabelle her own way to do so: So, as I said in my title, she’s not averse to throwing caution to the wind, and taking a dare, (which gets her into trouble here!). She also likes astronomy and may study it in school—her sister went to college, why not? She’s not sure on school yet, but she might. Who knows what will happen as the 1880s wear on? ;). Also she likes to run. Well, in 1880 and 1881, young ladies weren’t supposed to run, but she and her sister (the heroine of book one) playfully run races whenever they can. Herein, she ends up stranded with the hero during a snowstorm, and the resourceful duke finds them a way to have a little race. Just for fun. J

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Most important? Telling the story I want to tell and in a way I want to tell it. For instance, I like hidden bits of history, or rather, those tidbits that aren’t highlighted, so much. For instance, the Camden family runs a small town subway station. Yes, in the 1880s. Did you know there was such a thing that early? Until I wrote the first book, I didn’t either.

When did you write your first book?…

I wrote my very first novel when I was 18. I’d been writing poetry, short stories, and song lyrics before then, but never tackled a full book.

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Both. J

    Black or red? Black

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Since I live in the south and it’s warm to hot ten months out of the year, I prefer cotton sheets.

Ocean or mountains? That’s a toughy. I’m a mermaid at heart so I’d jump to say ocean, but I like to visit the mountains now and then.

City life or country life? City

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home.

Dogs or cats? I like dogs (hence why there’s a puppy in Miss Camden Kissed the Duke). Kittens are cute but we’re allergic to them.
