As I looked at this list of names, I wondered if people would think I was only giving out this award to friends. That’s true, partially. Each has become a friend over the last year or has been for a long time. Hosting this site gives me a unique opportunity to get to know many authors. But the statistics speak for themselves. When I pulled year long stats from the backside of the blog, these were the names that floated to the top.Brenda Sparks made the list as top blogger due to having the most page views throughout the entire year. She also promoted the blog itself. I was tickled when I looked at the stats and saw her name right at the top, because in my mind, she certainly deserved the appause. A demigod’s work is never done…
All monster hunter Samantha Silverton wants is a little R and R. She and her sexy partner, cat shifter Max, have a week off in the city that never sleeps, and she intends to enjoy it. But before she can unpack her suitcase, she’s caught up in the middle of a wicked game—a smartphone app driven scavenger hunt that’s bringing all the big, bad Supernaturals to NYC to play. The bad part? The game was the brainchild of Alex Van Dam—Sam’s first love. What’s worse? She has to play alone.
Maximillion Ra hasn’t quite got a handle on his unique shifter magic yet. He’s in love with Sam, but if he’s ever going to be any good to her, he has to face his family’s curse. But how can he leave Sam now, especially with her old flame in the picture?
Alex Van Dam isn’t interested in who wins his game. He just wants to find the final prize—an ancient Greek relic. Once he has it, he’ll use the artifact’s magic to control all the Supernaturals in Manhattan, starting with the Hunters’ Watch Brigade.
Only Sam stands in his way. And without Max by her side, even the monster hunting daughter of Poseidon has to wonder if she stands a chance…
Why did you write this book?
Thank you for asking, Kayelle! We’ve gotten great response from readers for Hunters’ Watch Brigade: Initiation, the first novel in my series. This is the second book and follows Sam and Max’s adventures as they fall in love while fighting Supernatural chaos in New York City.
I don’t like how devices interfere with conversations with people in real life. I wondered what would happen if someone designed a game people played on their phones and it caused all sorts of Supernatural chaos.
I combined my love for scavenger hunts and visiting famous sites in the city of Manhattan to create an adventure readers will love.
I also love the Greek Pantheon, so The Game allowed me to send Samantha up to Mount Olympus to visit her Uncle Zeus and her cousin Artemis along with her father Poseidon. She gets to ride Pegasus, one of my favorite scenes!
What is your favorite genre to read?
I like most genres, but my favorite is Urban Fantasy with strong paranormal romance elements. I like magic in my stories, and a heavy dose of heart thumping romance.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Right now, Cat Crawfield from Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series. And I love her even more when Bones is on the page too.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m happy to say I’m working on Hunters’ Watch Brigade: Betrayal, the third book in my series planned for release later this year with ImaJinn Books.

It’s never just another day at the office…
Demigod Samantha Silverton, a full-time monster hunter in the Hunters’ Watch Brigade, is on a mission to hunt down a scorned mermaid with her familiar Max when she finds out she has bigger fish to fry. Her mother—a powerful witch—has been abducted. And the most likely villain is her mother’s enemy, Francesca Rosencratz.
Being a familiar to a sexy monster hunter has its perks, but Max wants more. He might look like a cat, but he’s also Sam’s best friend…and the man who loves her. But in order to defeat Francesca, he’ll have to shift into his human form, something he’s avoided. Because once he’s officially a shifter, he’ll have to join the Brigade. And that could take him away from Sam for good.
But Francesca’s becoming more and more dangerous. She and a mysterious ally are working to take down the Brigade, and take over the paranormal community. Sam will have to dig deep if she’s going to save her mom. But Max will have to risk even more…to save Sam.
When supernatural creatures go rogue, who are you going to call? The Hunters’ Watch Brigade!
Why did you write this book?
This is the book of my heart.
One day I broke all the rules and started writing in first person, multiple point-of-view, and the Hunter’s Watch Brigade came to life.
The first book, Initiation, tells the story of a snarky monster hunter heroine who goes up against all odds to rescue her family from monsters, find her One True Love (who turns out to be her best friend), and incorporates all the things I like to read. Fantasy. Romance. And suspense.
I picked on the Greek pantheon in this book. My main character Samantha is a half-ling daughter to Poseidon. He makes a couple of appearances in this story, and I LOVED writing him. I’m an Aquarius girl who was born in the site of water, so it felt normal as anything including him in the story. Just wait until you visit his castle under the sea with Sam and Max.
I also explored what it means to fall in love with your best friend. I love this romance trope, and Sam and Max have some pretty intense issues to solve along their romance road. I think readers will cheer for them. They’re a very dynamic couple who fought hard to find their love story. They even surprised me.
The climax is amazing, and I knew what the scene looked like as soon as I wrote the very first words. Seeing this book go to print is an achievement. I can’t wait to share it with everyone, and I hope you’ll tell a friend.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Urban Fantasy and Paranormal Romance.
I like books where justice does exist, magic is the norm, and a hot romance demands a happy ever after.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Sam from the Hunters’ Watch Brigade series of course.
She’s a half-ling daughter of Poseidon who joined up with her vampire handler, Shade Vermillion, and her cat-shifter best friend Max to police the universe for bad supernaturals. She shows exemplary spunk while she fights a mermaid, reconciles family issues with her sister Cyn, and works hard to rescue her mother from Francesca Rosencratz, a powerful witch with a vendetta.
Does Sam win in the end? We’ll let the readers decide.
What are you working on at the moment?
Sharing Hunters’ Watch Brigade: Initiation with the world of readers. Do feel free to tell a friend, and thank you in advance. Marketing a book is hard work, and word of mouth still seems to be the best way to share books. If you’d like to read and review a copy you can do that now at Net Galley.
My amazing editor Brenda from ImaJinn Books and I are working on revisions for HWB Book 2. It’s been fun to expand the Hunters’ Watch Brigade world. I’m plotting several more books where readers can enjoy following their favorite pair of sexy paranormal agents as they police the universe for bad supernaturals.

This is the award for the person who receives the most comments. To win, a guest
