I’m 6 feet tall, curvy muscular build, long wavy dark cinnamon hair. I usually have my hair pulled back in a ponytail or one long braid.
What is your middle name?
No one knows this; it’s embarrassing. My mother, Pekabo, is an artsy hippy and she named me Candle (because I was the light of my parents life) Rainbow (back to the light of their life) Bearclaw (my dad is native American).
How well does your name fit your personality?
Growing up, probably. In the CIA, no way. Source of embarrassment mostly. I don’t believe anyone in the agency knew my middle name except superiors.
Do you believe in love at first sight?
Yes. I had a crush on Miacoh since I was in middle school. Of course, he never knew it. We grew up and went our separate ways, only to return to our hometown under the strangest of circumstances and find ourselves thrown together in a murder investigation of all things.
Do you believe in magic?
I have to admit it now, yes. Growing up and in the CIA I hated that my mother had “talents” she could sorta see things others couldn’t. Like things that were about to happen, before they did. However, I too have the gift and others. Though I denied it my whole life until recently.

Do you enjoy dressing up or prefer to dress casually?
Both, depending on the event.

Yes. I love to people-watch. Part of my training is to profile people by their actions, body language, mannerisms, etc. In some cases, your life depended on getting it right. Now, it’s an enjoyable pastime, with no consequences.

I loved being able to create different types of ghosts, Innocent, vengeful and some comedic spirits and how they interfere in the lives of the living.

No. This was more like my fifth book when I wrote it.

No, although when it came out it was suggested I add a sequel. That’s still bouncing around in my head.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
YES!!! I couldn’t get the darn thing written. Most of the time, words just flowed. But this stubborn book fought me every inch of the way. I finally set a firm deadline for myself and said if it wasn’t finished by then, I would put it aside. I finished with a couple of days to spare,
you did research for this book?
Not too much. The ghost lived during the American War Between the States and I had to do a little research around battles. But you can’t live in Virginia and not have learned a lot of that stuff. 😉
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
No pets but a very loving ghost.
this book has more than one genre?
Yes. I usually write erotic romance, but this is paranormal, too.
you speak more than one language?
I’m lucky to be able to speak English! I’ve studied both German and French but I wouldn’t get further than “please” and “thank you” in either language.
you grew up where you live now?
Nope! Navy brat, but more than that, hubby and I have moved all over, first for his job and then for mine. I’m a very long way from where I grew up!
you love to read?
OMG!! If I don’t have a book, I read cereal boxes, ads, directions…something! Reading is like breathing.
you are never late?
I wouldn’t save never, but I am usually annoyingly early.
you love pizza?
YES!
you love sushi?
NO! When we lived in New Jersey, people always wanted to go out for a sushi lunch. They kept telling me that I’d get to love it. Never did.
you have a pet?
I wish I did but I don’t. For a good many years, our lives didn’t suit having a pet and now I guess we’re just not inclined. But I do love both cats and dogs.

When she’s not out hunting rogue vampires and werewolves, you can find Crystal Dawn out exploring the galaxy. She can do it all without ever leaving her computer. She kicks ass, takes names, and puts it all down for the enjoyment of her readers. At least that’s what I think she told me. Writing came as a natural outlet for her overly creative mind. She has always told stories and even written some but publishing books didn’t start until 2012 with The Rebirth, was the first of the Planet Amazon books. Crystal has also been lucky to have some wonderful beta readers who keep her on track and help inspire her.
Secretly, she crushes on all her sexy heroes because all her stories end happily. That is one of the things that makes writing such a joy. Knowing that it makes her reader’s day a little brighter. Not that she doesn’t read sad books sometimes. While still in school, she read Where the Red Fern Grows and cried like a baby. It was a wonderful book and sometimes a bit of sadness has to be put in books because that’s part of life. While she reads all kinds of books at some time or another, PNR and SFR, which she writes is what she reads the most for pleasure.
When she started writing, she decided on going Indie after the first two books because an author has more control. She believes Indie will compete well and continues to grow. The need to give pleasure to her readers keeps her going and she sees a long career ahead. Growing up mostly in the NW Arkansas area, it has given her a good place to set some stories and many of her characters come from there or nearby SW Missouri.
The start of her stories is the easy part. Finishing them is a little harder when all the stories are in there trying to get out. She loves reading, chocolate, fine sweet wine, and traveling among a large list of pursuits. Her favorite people, after her family and close friends, are her readers who she says are some of the most wonderful people in this galaxy and the next.

While working on his latest project, he finds himself at an abandoned church after nightfall. Lured by the prospect of capturing something unique with his camera, he ventures inside.
What Ethan discovers in that forgotten place is not what he expected. Instead of sights unseen for decades, Ethan finds a man — bleeding, hurt, and in need of help.
What Ethan doesn’t know is that he isn’t freeing an ordinary man, but an ancient vampire.
Through a haze of blood and violence, Ethan will have to come to terms with a situation nothing could have ever prepared him for. Auris drinks blood and deals death with ease, but Ethan soon discovers that the vampire is not just a monster. Auris is more, so much more. As if it were illuminated with a camera flash, Ethan can almost see himself and Auris have a shared future. Yet, those who tried destroying Auris once will stop at nothing to do so again.

Why did you write this book?
I had the idea for Illuminated when I was dozing in bed one morning, still half asleep. Some people dream about puppies and unicorns, but I had this very clear picture about a very violent confrontation happening in an abandoned church.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I like a good urban fantasy, but really anything with sf, fantasy, or horror elements. I prefer my books to be queer.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
At the moment, I’m quite fond of Rune from KD Edwards’ Tarot Sequence.
What are you working on at the moment?
Right now, I am actively working on the sequel to Illuminated. We’re going to Prague!
What books will we see from you in coming months?
A Subtle Scar is an MMM urban fantasy romance and kicks off a new series that started life as a Hellbound spin-off. Then, the Illuminated sequel. After that, the Moonlight Cherries sequel.
