Know the Hero from Fall for You (An M/M Romance) by Valerie Ullmer @valerieullmer #RLFblog #gayromanceValerie Ullmer, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your hero, but first, tell us about the book.

Fall for You (An M/M Romance) by Valerie Ullmer

Sebastian, the outgoing life of the party, had taken advantage of his freedom of being away from home for college while Ethan remained the same, quiet and reserved. While Ethan’s feelings for Sebastian developed over years, Sebastian’s came suddenly when he thought he spotted Ethan kissing another man. Despite their feelings, they haven’t told the other. How long can they hide their feelings while sharing a bed?
Genre New Adult Gay Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Ethan Sutton came to the stunning revelation he’d fallen in love with his best friend, Sebastian Young. Although friends since childhood, Ethan vowed to keep his feelings for Sebastian under wraps and live the rest of his life with this one secret between them. He’d rather keep their friendship than risk a lifelong connection and never see him again. But when they move into their own place at the start of their junior year, can Ethan keep his feelings from showing when they live so close together?
Sebastian Young had an epiphany about Ethan at the end of last year. He moved them into a loft he’d found over the summer allowing him to be closer to Ethan. As they settle into their lives in a new place with such close quarters, ex-girlfriends, nosy downstairs neighbors, and Sebastian’s own doubts could put their relationship in jeopardy before it even begins.
Can two best friends admit their feelings and fall in love?

Is It True: Love in a New World by Jessica E Subject @jsubject #RLFblog #NewAdult #boxsetPlay Is It True with today’s guest Jessica E Subject, author of Love in a New World, a New Adult Romance box set. This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

First, tell us about your book.

An alien prince, a farm girl, two university students from a small town, and more are all ready to begin their lives as adults. They have everything planned out. But when drastic events crush their dreams, they must carve a new path. And they just might find unexpected love along the way.

Includes the New Adult Romances Beyond Reach, Accidental Romance, It Took a Zombie Apocalypse, Hey Santa, and bonus story Alien Kisses at Midnight.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Genre: New Adult Romance, mostly Sci-Fi, but also some Contemporary
Now, tell us Yes or No for each answer below. Feel free to explain any (or none) of your answers.

Is it true:

this is your first book?
No. I have twenty-nine titles published under my name and a pen name I used to use. Love in a New World is a collection of four of my published stories with a bonus story.
this book is part of a series?
No. While all the books included are New Adult Romance, none of them are connected except for the bonus story.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
No. When I first started writing, I used to lose sleep with all the ideas in my head. Now, by the time my head hits the pillow, I’m zonked.
you did research for this book?
For the collection, I didn’t have to do any research as the stories were already written. But, I did do quite a bit research for some of these stories. With Accidental Romance, I still have a binder full of information about dairy farms, farm equipment, farming accidents, and amputations.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
Yes, in that some characters are not from Earth, but other planets in three of the stories. Others might be zombies or cows, but those aren’t the main characters.
this book has more than one genre?
Yes. I mostly write Sci-Fi Romance, which combines those two genres. This box set specifically contains alien romances, a contemporary western romance, and a zombie apocalypse romance. All of them are New Adult, in that the hero and heroine are in their early twenties.
you speak more than one language?
Yes and no. I speak English. I can speak a bit of French, though I’ve forgotten a lot of what I learned in school. And with my daughter being a huge K-pop fan, I’ve learned a couple Korean phrases.
you grew up where you live now?
Yes. Same city, different house.
you love to read?
Yes. I have for as long as I can remember.
you are never late?
Yes. At least I try. I’m usually super early, unless my children are being unusually slow.
you love pizza?
Yes. Thin whole wheat crust with chicken, spinach, and goat cheese. Though, pepperoni or veggie pizza is great, too.
you love sushi?
you have a pet?
Yes. I have Great Pyrenees / Retriever cross. She’s big and hairy. I’ve had many other pets throughout my life, but she’s big enough, we don’t need another.
Where can we find your book online?

Candy J Starr author of Rock You answers five easy questions
to help readers get to know her better.

Author Bio

Candy J. Starr used to
be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking
in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played.
“Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting
that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.
Candy has filmed and
interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s
seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s
seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.
But, of course,
everything she writes is fiction.
What’s your favorite down-home
family style meal?
I’ve got a recipe of a casserole my mum used to make with
macaroni, tomato soup, minced meat, pineapple and cheese all cooked up
together. So simple yet delicious.
What is your go-to meal
when you dine out?
I’m pretty adventurous when I dine out and like to try new
things but lasagna is always a favorite.
Describe the perfect vacation.
I have no fixed address at the moment and am always
travelling so vacations don’t really exist for me. I always think my perfect
vacation is a tropic beach holiday but then I remember I hate the sun! Really,
anything involving animals would be fantastic.
Tell us about your
favorite toy as a child.
I had a ride on tractor that I loved. I think, because my
granddad was a farmer and he’d let me ride on the tractor with him, I thought I
was pretty cool having a tractor of my own.
When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
I read widely. I love reading romance but I can be super
critical in my reading and sometimes it feels more like research than pleasure.
I do love historical fiction especially if I’m learning something while
enjoying a good story.

Rebecca Hunter author of Stockholm Diaries, Caroline answers
five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

Author Bio

is a writer, editor and translator who has always loved to read and travel.
Though she earned a Bachelor’s in English and a Master’s in English Education,
most of what she learned about writing romance has come from other sources.
Rebecca has, over the years, called many places home, including Michigan, where
she grew up, New York City, San Francisco, and, of course, Stockholm, Sweden.
After their most recent move from Sweden back to the San Francisco Bay Area,
she and her husband assured each other they’ll never move again.
Well, probably not.
What is your go-to meal
when you dine out?
We live in California, so we eat a lot of taqueria food. A
lot. My favorite is a carnitas burrito with black beans, extra pico de gallo
and guacamole, sometimes split with my husband, sometimes all for myself. If
we’re “going out,” I’d choose something with a little nicer atmosphere, but Cal-Mex
is definitely our go-to.
Who is your “book
boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?
Hmm… that might be Lisa Kleypas’s Derek Craven from Dreaming
of You. We watch Craven struggle hard with his past and the idea that he is
incapable of love. He resists Sara as long as he can, but unlike many
historicals the couple is happily together by the middle of the book. Craven is
clearly devoted to Sara, but the rest of the book is about Derek’s attempts to
adjust and to let himself love.
When compared to contemporary romance heroes, a historical
hero can be a little more over-the-top, a little crasser or more hardened or
melodramatic, his history a little more fantastical. I think this is because a
reader like me is more willing to suspend disbelief when the setting isn’t
connected to anything in my own experiences. This is especially true of Craven,
whose past I probably would never accept from a contemporary hero but somehow
feel comfortable with in a historical hero!
Describe the perfect vacation.
The answer to this changes rather frequently, but these days
I’ve been fanaticizing about week or two in a cottage on a white-sand beach in
Hawaii. In front of us would be some sort of hidden break with steady, rolling
waves where my husband and I could surf. On the beach, we’d have a canopied
swinging futon bed (something I saw on a vacation ad that stuck with me!) where
we’d lie and read after a long surf session. Sometimes our two kids are with us
on this fantasy vacation, playing in the sand and swimming, and sometimes it’s
just my husband and me…
What are your hobbies?
Of course, reading has always been one of my favorite
pastimes. Beyond that, I love to hike and surf, but most of all, I love to
spend time with friends and family doing pretty much anything. I’m an
extrovert, but I also thrive on extended periods of time along, a less common
combination in a writer if I’m to believe what I read. To balance my quiet
hours alone, I make sure to plan in time for walks and coffees, especially with
other writer friends.
When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
I read a lot of romance, both for pleasure and for learning,
but that’s only a recent development. Before I began writing romance, I read
literary fiction almost exclusively. But there were times when I felt too busy
or too scattered to invest myself in literary fiction, so during those periods
I wouldn’t read at all.
Now, after many years, I’m finally finding my own personal
balance! I read both romance and literary fiction regularly, depending on my
mood, along with some occasional fantasy, sci-fi, poetry, or mystery that
friends recommend. I’ve been a member of a book club for many, many years, and
that ensures I read at least one book of literary fiction or non-fiction per
month that I didn’t find on my own. Plus, I have elementary-age kids, so I read
plenty of middle-grade fiction as well, sometimes more enthusiastically than

Things get worse when the demons she left behind in America follow her to the land of intrigue. Her uncle forces her to attend a celebration where she meets Cadmon, a mysterious, captivating stranger, who reveals that he knew her parents. When Kaitlin dives into a foreign culture, full of mystique and dangers everywhere she turns, keeping her heart safe might prove as impossible as staying alive.
What are your main characters’ names, ages, and occupations?
Kaitlin Sincair, 17 Graduating high school. Cadmon Quinn 23 leader
of his people.

Which character in your current book do you think readers will like the most?
She’s a teenager who lost both parents and tries to make the
best of her horrible situations. She’s also ready to start her first big adventure.
Why do you write?
Because it’s as necessary as breathing. I’m not happy unless
I’m writing.
When you write, what things
do you want close at hand? (Coffee, water, chocolate… pictures of gorgeous hunks
for inspiration…?)
A nice steamy cup of green tea {preferably with mango and sweetened
with honey} and some music to set the mood I’m trying to create.
When you’re not writing,
what would we find you doing?
Amatuer belly dancing, teaching Kung Fu, or hiking with my family.
When an idea hits you,
what do you do to capture it?
Pull out my notebook and penand jot it down, or boot up my lap
top and type it down.
What other jobs have you
held besides writing?
Waitressing as a teen, cashier, cook, house cleaning, care taking,
teaching Kung Fu, yard work, editing, stocking, fast food.
What’s the best gift you
ever received?
True friendship and true love.
If you could time travel
what era would be your first stop?
Back to the days of the Native Americans. I’d love to live off
the land and not worry about money. :P
What’s your favorite movie?
Depends. Are we talking romance, action, comedy? Romance is Princess
Bride or Ruyard Kipling’s Jungle Book. Action is Gone in Sixty Seconds with Nicholas
Cage. Comedy is Mrs Doubtfire with Robin Williams.
Are you the eldest, middle,
baby, or only child?
Eldest of four.

Please complete the sentence

I love pizza with tomatoes, extra cheese, and lots of meat.
I’m always ready to turn on the music, when my speakers cooperate.
When I’m alone, I do a lot of deep thinking. Not always a
good thing, but it keeps me realistic.
If I had a halo it would be a blinding mix of white and yellow.
If I could change anything I’d leave it alone, because
every trial we overcome makes us stronger and shapes us into who we were meant to
I can never change the past because any changes made
would reflect on the future.
