Introducing Melissa Crandall from Naval Maneuvers, by Dee S Knight @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #romance

Let’s meet Melissa Crandall from Naval Maneuvers, an erotic romance, by Dee S Knight. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about the story your author wrote.

Naval Maneuvers by Dee S Knight

    Genre Erotic romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Men and women of the armed forces experience desire and love pretty much like everyone else. Except, well, there is that uniform. And the hard-to-resist attraction of “duty, honor, service” as a man might apply them to a woman’s pleasure. All things considered, romance among the military is a pretty sexy, compelling force for which you’d better be armed, whether weighing anchor and moving forward into desire, dropping anchor and staying put for passion, or setting a course for renewed love with anchor home.

    Introducing Melissa Crandall

    Please tell me about yourself.
    Age: 33
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: Jacksonville, NC
    Profession: Doctor
    Ethnicity: Caucasian
    What do you look like?
I’m maybe a little more curvy than fashion dictates. I have auburn hair, shoulder-length and deep green eyes, and I’m relatively tall—around five eight or nine.
Who is the significant other in your life?
I recently met David Stimson and fell hard and fast, despite my usual deliberative personality.
    How do you dress?
I like the classic styles—trouser pants with pleats and a belt when going out casually and soft, collared blouses. I have three distinct little black dresses and almost always wear dresses or skirts when going out for an evening. I enjoy heels because they make me feel feminine (and yes, sexy!) but am just as comfortable in flats. Clothing must be comfortable and I tend towards the flowing, draping types of materials of very good quality.
Please tell us about your education.
I attended undergraduate school at Georgetown but went to University of Virginia for medical school. I also practice here in Charlottesville.
Do you get by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
I live comfortably but I am not extravagant. I enjoy good clothes and I like attending lectures and seminars on topics like archaeology and history (a must if you live in Virginia!). I own my house, but it’s modest, and though I have a mid-priced car, I usually bicycle to work.
On what special skills do you rely?
My attention to detail, empathy for my patients, and a quick memory. I use these things to give my patients the best care.
Are any of your skills a source of pride or embarrassment, and if so, which ones and why?
Definitely pride. I truly like people and see it as my duty to serve them the best I can.
    What is your family like?
I love my parents very much though I’m closer to my mom then my dad. He was a “lifer” in the Marine Corps, often away while I was growing up. I hated that he loved his job more than Mom or me because it seemed he was always away when we needed him most or wanted him there, like for recitals and plays. I saw my mom as a tower of strength because she held us together when I would have given up. Only recently have I realized how much my dad loved me, too. In fact, since I fell in love with David and then gave him up, I’ve learned a great deal about life, love, and being an adult—and all from my parents.

During the day, her characters killed people, fell in love, became drunk with power, or sober with responsibility. And they had sex, lots of sex. Writing was so much fun Dee decided to keep at it. Know the Heroine from Dropping Anchor in Naval Maneuvers
Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
Plays MENSA games on her phone. The girl is gorgeous, but she’s no dummy.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Carie isn’t much of a junk food girl. She’d pick up an apple and skip the chocolate.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
A uniform when working—she’s a JAG officer—and loose fitting casual clothes when she’s relaxing. Of course, nothing is best when she’s with her sweetie, Todd Baxter.
Does she know how to fix things?
She knows how to fix coffee, and she knows how to make reservations. Anything else, she hopes she marries well.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
She tried to surprise Todd by dropping in on him without notice. She was the one surprised, and not in a happy way.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Carie is not a child person. She keeps her distance when around children she doesn’t know. But since falling in love with Todd, she can finally see children in her future.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
So ready for action if Todd wakes her up. Otherwise, she’s one of those people who annoyingly wakes up with a sunny attitude and keeps it all day. That doesn’t mean that she doesn’t turn into a shark when she’s handling a trial. The only thing she likes better than being with Todd is winning her cases.
    Can she use chopsticks?
She can but wonders why she should. It was fun when she was going out with college pals, but now, what’s the point? Food takes just as good using a fork.
Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?
Coffee? You mean life’s blood? Yes!! She drinks it often and she drinks it Navy strong!
What apps would she have on her phone?
The aforementioned MENSA games, Kindle, the Weather app, Google and Google maps, and email so she can stay in touch with the office. Carie prefers to interact with people rather than her phone, so she really only uses it when she has to or there is absolutely nothing else to do.
    Android or iPhone?
    iPhone
    Earrings or unpierced ears?
Earrings, even though while in uniform they have to be posts and demure.
    Tattoos or unadorned skin?
She has an intriguing tattoo of a dragon on her lower back, the result of a game she played in college. Todd is especially interested in finding out about her dragon.
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
She doesn’t mind public transportation but usually her job requires her to be flexible in getting around so she drives herself.
    Recycle or toss?
Definitely recycle. She’s responsible and civic-minded.
Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

Weighing Anchor (allowing a ship to move forward by retrieving the anchor): A professional woman sworn to avoiding all things military finds herself in love with a lieutenant commander in the Navy. Love won’t conquer all if she allows her childhood memories to eclipse future happiness.
Dropping Anchor (securing movement by dropping the anchor): Two people find (surprisingly) that they are both in the Navy and love their chosen professions–until one turns out to be an officer but not a gentleman and the other is a gentleman but not an officer.
Anchor Home (safe, smooth sailing): When two former lovers find each other after more than a decade, will a long-hidden secret threaten the course of a rekindled romance or be the cause of it?

    Introducing Todd Baxter

    Please tell me about yourself.
    Age: 38
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Asheville, NC
Profession: Super Chief in the U.S. Navy
    Ethnicity: Caucasian
    What do you look like?
Dark gray eyes, over six feet tall, pretty strong physique, but not bulked up, auburn hair that’s showing a little silver now, usually kept military short, clean-shaven. And, uh, I’ve been told I have a pretty great package. Not that I’d say so myself… ;)
Who is the significant other in your life?
    Lieutenant Commander Carissa Walker, U.S.N.
    How do you dress?
During work I’m in uniform–usually khaki shirt and trousers, shined shoes, garrison cap (wide black brim with flat top). Off duty, I’m a beach guy, in jeans and tee shirts, loafers or sneakers.
Are any of your skills a source of pride or embarrassment, and if so, which ones and why?
I’m a great mechanic and my degrees in engineering help me know the best paths to take to solve problems that arise in the boiler room, where I work. I don’t take pride in these skills exactly, but I’m happy I have them because they make me the best Super Chief I can be, both for the Navy and for my men. It’s all about them.
    Are you close to family?
I love my family, though I don’t get home to Carolina to see them often. My brother was ten years older than I, so he amusingly tolerated me and I hero-worshipped him. My sister, who lives in Norfolk where I’m stationed now, is more an annoyance than friend but only because she thinks I need her to run my life. I grew up knowing I was loved, with two parents who are still married and who allowed me to be a boy and get into scrapes while being there to help me out. I was lucky.
If someone from your past showed up, who would you most want it to be, and why?
My brother. He’s the reason I joined the Navy, a life that gave me every satisfaction a man could dream of–until Carie came along, of course. My brother was a chief in the Navy. I wanted to honor his memory by becoming one, too. I’ve missed him every day he’s been gone.
What would help you face hardship and meet any challenge?
There are a lot of things, actually. First, education. That provides the foundation for most challenges at work. Then, as greatly, training. The Navy has invested a lot of time and money in training me to respond quickly and correctly to problems. Support of my men and superiors keeps me steady, and my desire to serve them, the Navy, and America keeps me going when I might want to stop. And lastly, Carie’s love. It sounds sappy, but I’d go through fire for her and any children that might be in our future. Keeping her love and showing her love is the challenge I will always strive to meet. *laughing* Does that make me a wuss? Yeah, I guess, but that’s okay.
If you could make any one thing happen, what would it be?
At the risk of sounding like a Miss America candidate, peace. Some people might think that the military are a bunch of war mongers, but hell, who do they think has to go and fight wars? The people who fight are the ones least likely to want unrest. I’d love for the day to come when people go to sea to sail around and have fun rather than go as a symbol of power. However, as long as there is no overriding peace, the U.S. Navy will protect and serve. Count on it.
