Happy Birthday Marketing for Romance Writers #MFRWauthor @MFRW_ORG #Authors
Kayelle Allen here. Wow, has Marketing for Romance Writers grown! Back in 2006 when I started this group, I was a busy author with four books. I was promoting, learning more about promoting, and asking friends about promoting. All the ins and outs of book marketing were starting to gel and I was beginning to understand the overall concept. That said, I had a constant list of questions. Facebook was two years old. Twitter had been founded that year. Pinterest and Instagram were four years away. How was I supposed to promote on social media? Did I need a blog?
I had friends who had similar questions, and we would email each other and ask. Often, I’d get the same question several times in a row. I found myself going back to my “sent” file to copy an answer and resend it. Not that I wasn’t asking questions myself, but I think because I’d take the time to go find an answer if someone asked and I didn’t know – I started getting more and more questions.
It was Halloween, and I was busy with all sorts of details of writing, and I got the same question from two different people. I remember thinking that there had to be an easier way to handle this. I needed a way to let everyone know what I’d discovered at the same time, and if I had a question, get an answer from someone who knew. Yahoo Groups was established and well-used, so I decided to create one that all of my friends and I could use together. We could post a question there, and anyone who knew the answer could reply.
I set it up as Marketing for Romance Writers because that’s what all of us were at the time. Our members are not just romance writers, however. They come from all genres. Looking back, I’ve often wished I’d named it Marketing for Every Writer. Of course, then the initials would have been MEW vs MFRW and our symbol might have been a black cat!
In 2006, we had 12 members. Eleven years later, there are 2420 of us, plus 6781 on Facebook, 3875 on Twitter, untold numbers on Goodreads, and 1492+ on Pinterest with 54 boards and over 790 pins. Our staff of volunteers produces an award winning newsletter and in 2018, we will publish a monthly magazine. How can we promote for you?

Please Join in Saluting a Pillar of the #Romance Community #RLFBlog
Today’s blog is a special one. Well at least to me anyway. Partially because I’m breaking the rules and typing this very late at night – being super stealthy – in an attempt to surprise Romance Live’s Forever’s blog owner, Kayelle Allen. But, mostly because after about two years of being Kayelle’s blog administrator, I wanted to say thank you to her in a way that she’ll be forced to hear. Because Kayelle is a quiet lady who doesn’t bask in the limelight of all her fantastic efforts. You see, she does a LOT for the Romance community. In fact, she probably does more than most may even realize. Aside from being an awesomely talented author, an amazingly kind woman, and a Veteran of the United States Military, she is also the founder of the widely known Marketing for Romance Writers aka MFRW.
If you do not know Kayelle, please crawl out from under that rock you must have been lying under (kidding) and consider checking out her books, befriending her on her social networks or joining in the MFRW groups. I promise you’ll make some great connections and meet some awesome people!
I hope after reading this post Kayelle doesn’t throw too many things at me. But, the surprise – and hopefully smile – on her face, will make it all worth it!
THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, KAYELLE! ~ Nicole :)

Happy (Halloween) Birthday 2015 @MFRW_ORG #MFRWorg #MFRWauthor #RLFblog
#MFRWauthor Happy birthday to Marketing for Romance Writers 2015. I
created MFRWorg on Halloween, 9 years ago this year. It’s hard to believe it’s
been that long. It had about 12 members because those were the people I was
always talking to and we would ask each other marketing type questions. We were
each other’s resource. I had been getting emails for a long time and would
answer with what I knew. When I realized I was getting the same questions in
slightly different forms from multiple people, I decided to make it easier on
all of us and create a group where we could post once and get answers from
everyone. Voila! MFRW was born.
I should have called it Marketing for Writers. Many of our current members
don’t write romance, but some principles carry over to every kind
of book, and every kind of writer. It doesn’t matter though, because those who
don’t mind looking past the name will find answers to their questions. There are thousands of members now. The group fills a unique place, and creates a safe place to ask questions, without having to deal with constant promo. However, if you need a place to share a post, come ask. Opportunities abound. What is Marketing for Romance Writers?

Coffee Time Romance Romance Junkies Our sincere thanks to the Friends of Romance – Coffee Time Romance, Romance Junkies, and The Romance Studio for their generous participation in this weekend seminar. Over 1500 signed up for the program, and in one twelve hour period there were well over 1000 messages posted on the site – questions, answers, workshop info, links, reminders, and some hilarity as well. Good thing Karen Cote’ brought her water pistol to guard the camp! Although at one point some filled theirs with cyber-vodka it wasn’t entirely out of control. ^_^
