Karina just wanted a piece of pizza, what she got was a jar – filled with souls. In Lyncee Shillard’s upcoming release, Jar of Souls, a horror romance, Karina must save the lost souls of the last century and not fall in love with Death.
Lyncee, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Jar of Souls.
Jar of Souls by Lyncee Shillard
Genre Horror Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Karina biggest concern when she orders a pizza is the number of pepperonis – it can’t be over fifteen. Until the delivery person shows up… dying. And instead of a pizza, he hands her a jar. A jar filled with souls.
Death can’t believe his eyes when he witnesses the jar of souls being handed off to a human. A sexy human but a weak helpless human never the less.
Karina doesn’t want to take the jar to the Hawthrone grove and release the souls. And she definitely doesn’t want to be attracted to the tall moody over bossy guy who says he’s Death.
When the hordes of Hell disguised as a traveling Clown band attacks Karina, she barely escapes. She quickly learns the things from nightmares are real and they want to control the souls in the jar. She also comes to realize the only way she’ll live is to trust her life to Death.

I live in the cold Northern Michigan (the place of four seasons – they lie! It’s just different levels of winter) with my husband. Our children have begun their own adventures, and just as I got into the swing of empty nest, then my grandson came to live with us. Now I’m doing 7 again… they argue everything just case you forgot. And I now remember why I eat doughnuts. When I’m not hanging out with the 7-year-old, I’m writing, reading, crocheting, and making self-care products. I also enjoy taking pictures, I’m not claiming to have a talent it’s just something I like to do.

Pick up cool tips from Lyncee Shillard author of Taking A Risk @lyncee #RLFblog #Romance #Adventure
In Lyncee Shillard’s romance adventure, Taking a Risk, Leigh books an extreme vacation to the Amazon. Kayaking down the Amazon is the easy part. Avoiding gun toting drug smugglers and keeping her feeling contained is the real test of endurance.
Lyncee, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Thanks for sharing two tips with us today, but first, please tell us about Taking A Risk.
Taking A Risk by Lyncee Shillard
Genre Romance Adventure
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Nic was handsome in a harsh rugged way with a body anyone else could only achieve through photoshop, and he lived in a jungle. Leigh smiled. Nothing practical or routine about him. She’d show Rayna and David. Not only was she going on an adventure, but she was going to screw Tarzan.
If there was one thing she excelled at, it was setting a goal, making a plan, and then following it making adjustment as she went until the objective was reached. Overachievement was her middle name. Granted, she’d never set the goal to have random sex with a Tarzan, but it didn’t matter, a goal was a goal.
Two Tips for Writing
#1 Know your villain and then create a hero/heroine that is equal. Many writers find creating the villain much more interesting than the hero/heroine. I mean there are very few rules when it comes to bad guy creation. That freedom is like discovering calorie sugar free doughnuts! Its hard to know when to stop.
#2 No one will write like you. Your story is yours and you must tell it the way it speaks to you. You will not have same writing routines as anyone else. Writing is a total individual thing. Be that individual!
Two Tips for Family
#1 Make the moments count. They don’t have to be long or a big production. Spend some time once a month putting together a ‘moment bag.’ What goes inside will vary depending on your child’s age and interest. Some ideas: – small coloring pages with a few crayons that you can color together – simple puzzle – a few Legos (challenge who can use all of theirs in a the time permitted) – a poem – then discuss – invent a dessert to make later (pick up the ingredients next time you go to the store) The idea is to talk, to share, to laugh, and make a moment.
#2 Create a family holiday. Celebrate your family! Select one day of the year and make ‘Your Name Family Day’. Eat your favorite foods, play your favorite games, watch movies or put together puzzles. Have everyone share one of their best memory of the last year. Decorate your house in traditional party style. Make a picture board of the last year. Do whatever feels right for your family – remember the purpose of this is celebrate your family!

It was meant to be a harmless prank. Instead, Emilee and Jeremy find themselves in a deadly game of cat and mouse in the harsh Alaskan wilderness in Lyncee Shillard’s romance suspense, The Prank.
Lyncee, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.
The Prank by Lyncee Shillard
Genre Adventure Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
When Emilee Sawyer learns the reclusive billionaire Ted McGraft is going to an Alaska animal reserve, she sees it as her break. An interview of a lifetime. When she arrives, she learns it was a prank set up by her cousin. Only it isn’t funny, it’s deadly when Emilee becomes the target of a serial killer.
Jeremy Hanks had a bad feeling about Emilee Sawyer but the reserve could use some positive exposure after all the mudslinging of a local developer. The moment she arrives, he knows the smart thing would be to send her away. Instead, he lets the sexy reporter stay. A mistake that may cost them both their lives.
What’s your favorite down-home family style meal?
Chicken stuffed cheese and broccoli, sour cream mashed potatoes, sautéed asparagus, homemade bread with strawberry jam and coconut cream pie
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
A hamburger. It’s really hard like impossible to totally ruin a hamburger and I never make them at home.
Describe the perfect vacation.
Warm – not hot but a nice 84 degrees. Sunny. A hut on the beach where doughnuts and umbrella vodka drinks just appear. No cooking. Books – lots of books and time to read them.
What are your hobbies?
Journal making, crocheting, eating doughnuts, and making drinks with vodka.
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
It depends on the book. I’m currently working on the first book in a series where the heroine is a forensic account. I read forensic accounting for dummies – not one of my more exciting reads.
If the hero of your latest book called you on the phone, what would be a perfect ringtone for him?

Happy Birthday #14 Marketing for Romance Writers #MFRWauthor @MFRW_ORG #RLFblog #Authors
Kayelle Allen here. Marketing for Romance Writers started in 2006 and is still going strong. All services and membership are free.
It began because, like all my friends, I was promoting, learning more about promoting, and asking friends about promoting. All the ins and outs of book marketing were starting to gel and I was beginning to understand the overall concept. Even so, I had a constant list of questions. Facebook was two years old. Twitter had been founded that year. Pinterest and Instagram were four years away. How was I supposed to promote on social media? Did I need a blog?
So many questions
My friends all had the same questions, and we would email each other and ask. Often, I’d get the same question several times in a row. I found myself going back to my “sent” file to copy an answer and resend it. I was asking questions myself, plus I took time to go find an answer if someone asked and I didn’t know. Eventually, I got more and more questions.
It was Halloween, and I was busy with all sorts of details of writing, and I got the same question from two different people. I remember thinking that there had to be an easier way to do this. I needed a way to let everyone know what I’d discovered at the same time, and if I had a question, get an answer from someone who knew. Yahoo Groups was established and well-used, so I decided to create one that all of my friends and I could use together. We could post a question there, and anyone who knew the answer could reply.
I set it up as Marketing for Romance Writers because that’s what all of us were at the time. Our current members are not all romance writers, however. They come from all genres. Looking back, I’ve often wished I’d named it Marketing for Every Writer. Of course, then the initials would have been MEW vs MFRW and our symbol might have been a black cat!
In 2006, we had 12 members. Fourteen years later, we’re in the thousands. We now meet on IO Groups and our staff of volunteers produces a monthly magazine. We coordinate multiple blog hops to bring traffic to member websites, including Book Hooks and MFRWsteam.
