2 Tips for Grocery Shopping in COVID-19 and taking off a mask from Dr. Linda O'Connor author of Don't Drop the Baby @LindaOConnor98 #RLFblog #RomanticComedyLinda O’Connor, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Thanks for sharing two tips with us today, but first, please tell us about Don’t Drop the Baby.

Don’t Drop the Baby (Dr. Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor, Book 1) by Linda O’Connor

    Genre Medical Romantic Comedy

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

Dr. Brogan Corkie is happily semi-retired from medicine and now has time for other hobbies. Her passion for food is only second to her skill at matchmaking!

Ross Skye, owner of BabyCare, a high-end line of baby merchandise, is injured in an accident, and Brogan uses her cooking, medical – and matchmaking – skills to help him out. Dr. Lauren Kane is taking care of her nephew for two weeks, and Brogan agrees to babysit while Lauren is at work.

Two years ago, Ross and Lauren dated. At that time, Lauren wanted kids, but Ross wasn’t keen. Now the tables have turned, and Ross is trying to convince Lauren that they’d make an awesome parenting team. Brogan suggests they test drive parenthood by looking after a simulated baby for a week – a computerized version that eats, sleeps, wets, and cries. Ross and Lauren experience the “joy” of having a newborn firsthand, and the bar is set pretty low. Their first goal is: don’t drop the baby. The second goal is to find out if their love for each other will survive the test of…parenting.

    Two Tips for Family

There’s an art to taking off a mask. Imagine that the front of it is covered in virus – the name of the game is not to touch it and don’t spread the virus to the rest of your face. (The virus enters the body through the mucus membranes of your eyes, nose, and mouth.)

First wash your hands. Then remove the mask by touching the ties or ear loops only. Lift it away from your face and don’t shake it. It should go directly into the washing machine. Then – no surprise – wash your hands again.

If you think your hair or face is contaminated then you should shower. If you’ve leaned on a contaminated surface, remove your clothes and throw them in the washer as well. The mask and clothes should be washed with hot water and put into a dryer with a hot cycle.

If you’re wearing gloves and a mask, the gloves come off first. Roll them off turning them inside out as you go so you don’t touch the outside. Then wash your hands before you do anything else (like removing the mask.)

    Two Tips for Household Chores

When grocery shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic leave your purse at home and just carry your debit or credit card. That way you don’t have to worry about picking up the virus on the surface. Don’t touch your phone until after you wash your hands.

As soon as you get home, wash your hands. Leave your grocery bags on the floor; don’t put them on the kitchen counter. Put the perishables away and wash your hands again.

Coronavirus can live on cardboard for 24 hours and on metal or glass for 3-5 days. Separate out the non-perishables and, if you can, let them sit for 5 days.

If you wash your fruit and vegetables with soap, any soap residue left on them can cause an upset stomach and diarrhea. Food experts suggest that washing them with water is enough. But…sinks tend to be super grungy so not a great place for fruit and vegetables to go for a swim.

Why did you write this book?

I thought it would be fun to write a romantic comedy series about a retired doctor who upgrades her M.D. from Medical Doctor to Matchmaking Doctor. Dr. Brogan Corkie brings couples together and gives them a nudge in the right romantic direction. A second romance overarching through all the books is Brogan’s romance. She practices what she preaches.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I love reading romantic comedies, romance in general, and cozy mysteries.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

My favourite fictional character is Andy Carpenter, a reluctant lawyer who helps solve mysteries in the Andy Carpenter series by David Rosenfelt. He’s brilliant and funny (as is the author!).

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m editing the third book and writing the fourth book of the Dr. Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor series. It’s a Christmas romantic comedy!

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I’ll be releasing Don’t Forget the Dog, Book 2 in May 2020 and Don’t Unravel the Past, Book 3 of the Dr. Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor series in August 2020. And look for Book 4, a Christmas romance, in November. Can’t wait!

http://invideo.io/Linda O’Connor, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Perfectly Honest.

    Perfectly Honest by Linda O’Connor

    Genre Medical Romantic Comedy

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13

You never know where your words will take you…

When Mikaela Finn agreed to be Sam’s “fiancée” for a weekend, she probably should have told him that she’s a doctor. Sam O’Brien, aka “Dr. Eye Candy,” is trying to shed his playboy reputation and convince a small town hospital that he’s ready to settle down. But when his “fiancée” helps deliver a baby in the middle of the meet and greet, it’s a bit of a shock. If he’d known the whole truth, he might have done things a little differently because somehow his “fiancée” ends up stealing his job and his heart. Not exactly the change he wanted. Lies and deceit – it’s a match made in heaven!

Tell us about yourself as a person.

What makes you different from other people?

I write medical romantic comedies, and I’m also a physician. I have a whole left brain/right brain thing going on.

    What is your personality type?

I’m pretty calm in emergencies which helps in my work as an urgent care doctor. I’m also a good listener, and I can be tenacious. I think you have to be somewhat tenacious and a bit competitive to get into medical school (that’s an understatement). When I have a goal in mind I work steadily to achieve it.

What was your favorite childhood game?

Red Rover. I remember playing that on the school playground and loved it. Second favourite was playing hide and seek outside on a summer evening when the whole neighbourhood was our playground.

What is your favorite subject to talk about?

Unless I’m talking to other doctors I can’t really talk about medicine, so it’d have to be about writing. I could talk a lot about that. Second would be about my sons – I’m definitely a proud mom.

    What is your favorite book?

This changes, but right now I’m really enjoying and laughing out loud at David Rosenfelt’s Andy Carpenter mystery books. So funny!

    What is your favorite meal?

Indian take-out – lamb korma – doubly so since I don’t have to cook it! More time to write.

Tell us about yourself as a writer.

What made you want to be a writer?

I thought it’d be cool to weave medical advice in a novel to help people take more control of their health. My favourite books to read are romance novels with a happily ever after ending so I thought I’d start there. The thought of having a book on the shelf with my name as the author was pretty compelling.

What are your favorite reference books?

The Emotional Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman and Becca Pugilisi and How to Market a Book by Joanna Penn

When you go to a convention, what kinds of things do you take along?

Comfortable shoes, swag, business cards, my cell phone, and my laptop so I can write while I travel, credit card for shopping :D

What’s your best advice for a new writer?

Tune out all the doubts and just write.

What are your writing goals for this year?

I’m currently working on a (drumroll please) new series, Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor series. My goal is to finish all four novels this year – I’m almost done number 3 – and publish one every three months staring early in 2020. Should be fun!

    Genre Medical Hockey Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13

Jordyn Kendra is a talented designer and savvy businesswoman. Spending eighteen hours a day establishing and running a successful business doesn’t leave much time for pursuing a relationship, and frankly she hasn’t really missed it. But when an invitation arrives that could help her fulfill her career dreams, she has to make a decision. What’s harder: going to a gala without a date or finding someone to ask?

Ben Matthews, head athletic therapist for the wildly popular Clarington Quakes hockey team, tends to stand out in a crowd. When Jordyn doesn’t recognize him, it puts a dent in his ego, but he catches her attention when he jumps in to save a life.

She’s a queasy bystander, cowering at the sight of blood, and he’s cool, calm, and confident, which she finds irresistible. With a little prodding from her spirited aunt, Jordyn realizes that she and Ben might be the perfect mismatch.

Comfy sweats – unless Ben is around – then it’s cashmere and slim-fitting capris.

She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

She reluctantly tried to sign up for a First Aid/CPR course and ended up in a First Responder course. It’s a little daunting for someone who faints at the sight of blood and quakes at the thought of doing the Heimlich maneuver. She has 2 best friends who are doctors – and figure they’ll jump in to save a life. Why would she need to?

Sarah tried to do a favour for her best friend and professional hockey team doctor, Dr. Danni Angelo, by covering a hockey game. However, because of a childhood trauma, stepping into a rink isn’t easy for her.
