    Genre Historical Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

What happens when a resentful man is determined to win the favor of the one you love?

For years Atol Livia has desired only one thing—to move north, far from the corruption of his father’s business, and start a life with the woman he loves. That is if Anna Jenel can look past his poverty and will agree to marry him. When Anna informs him that she gave her heart to him long ago, never once caring about any wealth he might have, he’s elated. But their plans are delayed when Atol’s father is found murdered. Once Atol has finally settled his obligations and is able to leave town, he goes to collect Anna but discovers that she is gone.

Anna doesn’t understand why her father whisked her away in the middle of the night to travel north. When they arrive, she finds a fully operational cattle station, and an associate of her father’s willing to do anything to gain possession of it—even marry her.

When Atol arrives up north, all he can think of is being reunited with Anna. But he soon discovers that the man who murdered his father now has his eyes set on Anna and will do whatever is necessary in order to have her as his wife. This man is determined to gain possession of Anna’s cattle station and the orange sapphires hidden there.

Will Atol and Anna be able to protect each other from a murderer, or will they fall victim to the envy of this man and lose each other forever?

Know the Heroine from Full Girlfriend Experience

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.

It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?

Faith is a night owl–a byproduct of her “biz.” After consuming too much Bordeaux and surfing the Internet for shoes she cannot afford, Faith might pass the time with her coveted toy “Big Red” or trying on clothes she can’t fit into, in her closet.

What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?

Faith is a carboholic, and her assistant Jeanine is constantly berating her for sneaking in desserts, but her favorite impulse food is sushi. She’d practically sell her soul for a good spicy tuna roll.

Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.

Faith is obsessed with haute couture. In the past her closets overflowed with designer labels, but now that she’s in a financial conundrum, her best bet is Nordstrom’s half-yearly sales.

Does she know how to fix things?

Faith is a master at reading people, pairing romantic partners. Relationships/people, that she gets. Fashion faux pas? No problem; safety pins and duct tape work wonders in a pinch. But when it comes to household repairs, Faith knows that some things are best left to the experts.

How does she act around children she doesn’t know?

According to Faith, there are seven and a half billion people on the planet, so why add more to the overpopulated equation? She’s still seething about the incident with the little hellion who bashed into her dress at the coffeehouse, sending a tidal wave of hot macchiato on her three-hundred dollar dress. The child’s caregiver placated the kid with a chocolate bar, and not a peep of apology to Faith. Thus, Faith believes:

    1. The world was overpopulated
    2. Kids were meant to be not seen and not heard
    3. Contraception should be free

What is she like first thing in the morning?

Do you know that awesome feeling when you wake up in the morning feeling refreshed and full of energy? Neither does Faith. She cannot function until she’s had sufficient caffeine and checked the financial markets. Even after that, small talk must be limited until her second latte has been consumed.

    Can she use chopsticks?

Absolutely! Chopsticks are like extra fingers.

Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? Despite the fact, Faith practically lives at her local coffee house, the baristas constantly screw up her name. Her goto beverage is a venti chai soy latte, light ice, with two pumps of vanilla, but Jeanine, her overpaid assistant, also makes killer lattes.

What apps would she have on her phone?

Zappos (shoes,) Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus, Wally (a regrettably dull yet necessary expense tracking app,)

    Android or iPhone?

    iPhone, the latest and greatest.

    Earrings or unpierced ears?

Earrings, of course. Any excuse to wear jewelry, darling. And diamonds are a girl’s best friend.

    Tattoos or unadorned skin?

Tattoos fascinate Faith but her skin is unadorned.

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

Faith has ridden in plenty of luxury sedans, but she prefers public transportation. Taxis and car services have diverse drivers who loved to share stories, and listening to people is what helped her become an empathetic companion.

    Recycle or toss?

In her own words: “Save the planet, blah, blah, blah, screw that. I’ve donated plenty in the past. Who was going to save my company?”

Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

Know the Heroine from Second Chances by Alana Lorens #RLFblog #romantic suspenseAlana Lorens, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about the book.

    Second Chances by Alana Lorens

    Genre romantic suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
When Inessa Regan gets a pink slip, laid off from her law firm at the age of 42 without prospects, she’s sure her life is over. She hides from the world, until her neighbor brings her a client, a young Iraq war veteran dying of cancer.
Kurt Lowdon only wants to make sure his affairs are in order should the worst happen, but meeting Inessa gives him encouragement on the road to recovery. His quest to help her realize her self-worth leads them into dangers they never expected, as horrors from the war and long-hidden family secrets come back to haunt them.

Know the Heroine from Second Chances

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
Inessa gets lonely at night. She’d dig out some Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey and chill with Netflix
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Definitely sweets. She’s an ice cream addict, but any chocolate or cookies would do in a pinch.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
She’s been a little overweight for years, so she prefers loose, light, comfortable clothing rather than the suits her law form required her to wear to court.
Does she know how to fix things?
Legally? She’s a family law attorney, so she knows how to fix a lot of people’s problems! Other people, that is. She’s not really great at dealing with her own problems—or anything tech-y.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Inessa noticed that the young woman living in the apartment over her rented office has many bruises and a subdued attitude. She knows that this woman is being battered, and she knows how she can help through legal remedies. But Inessa can’t keep her mouth shut over the indignity and smack-talks the abuser, trying to get him to back off. Unfortunately, it just escalates the situation.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
She’s awkward. She’s never had children, and being a child for her was a nightmare, living with a single father who always skipped out on his bills. So she would likely have lollipops in the office to bribe them to behave.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
She hates waking up, but once she’s awake, she can’t lay in bed. She has to get up, get dressed and start doing things.
    Can she use chopsticks?
Sure. One at a time. To stab sweet and sour chicken. And dumplings.
Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?
There’s nothing better in life than a good cup of coffee with just the right amount of cream and sugar and flavoring.
What apps would she have on her phone?
Rewards programs, and probably an electronic wrist-type tracker which she’d keep resetting because she’d always forget to use it.
    Android or iPhone?
Android. She’s not tech-savvy, and just buys something without many bells and whistles.
    Earrings or unpierced ears?
Pierced ears, and usually wearing something tasteful. As she begins opening up a little, she uses brighter, danglier earrings to make herself feel pretty
    Tattoos or unadorned skin?
    No needles!!! No thank you!
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
She has a car, several long years old. She doesn’t feel financially secure enough to buy a new one yet.
    Recycle or toss?
All good girls recycle, don’t they?
Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

After Honorine Camden is jilted, leaving her stunned and sparking a scandal in her tiny London borough of Wallflower, she’s devastated. But when she overhears her father, the stationmaster, talking about arranging a party for their newly-minted underground railway station, she volunteers to help. Although she’s intrigued with the handsome assistant stationmaster, Shane MacIntyre, she never expects to fall head-over-heels in love with him. Unfortunately, one tragic accident might derail everything.

Know the Heroine from Courting the Stationmaster’s Daughter

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
Since you said it’s late, Honorine will usually pull out her collection of dried flowers, and sort through them–or pick up a book. Her go-to is anything on natural history, but right now, she’s trying to finish Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
    Apple fritters.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
Her long dress with the holly garland around the hem and cuffs is her favorite. If she can forgo the bustle, she’s most comfortable without it.
Does she know how to fix things?
Not really. She can dig a post hole, though. Anything gardening related that can be applied to fixing anything? She could do that.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Where do we start? She’s trying to organize this party, you see, and every little detail seems to keep spiraling out of control. She’s only got a week left, and still no venue, and then, there was this little thing of the train wreck on her father’s route…
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Stiff and quiet. She’s not really a child person.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Groggy, usually misses her father leaving early. But lately, she’s finding it hard to sleep so, has been getting up with the household staff, before dawn.
How does she handle things when in a “proper” social situation?
Usually quiet and demure. If there are friends around, she prefers to sit and talk with them.
Maid or takes care of herself?
She has a maid but can take care of herself, if necessary.
    Proper dress or casual clothes?
    Proper dress.
    Sleeves buttoned or rolled up?
    Rolled up.
    Powdered wig or natural hair?
    Natural hair, usually braided.
    Carriage or horseback?
Underground train, if you please! J It’s the newest, latest way to get from Wallflower to London and points beyond. (Plus, her father, and her beloved, run the subway station in Wallflower, so it’s almost required conveyance for Honorine.)

    Genre paranormal romance suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Aislynn is a mermaid who has watched humans from afar for thousands of years. A negotiator for Neptune, she wonders, what it would be like to feel anything but especially passion the way humans do when they have sex. The truth is mermaids can’t feel emotions of any kind and hot sex is one of those experiences she wishes for. When the opportunity to become a human – temporarily – presents itself, she takes it.
Finley McCormock is a hard-core, tough as nails divorce attorney who represents rich women leaving their husbands. He has no time to do pro-bono environmental work like his colleagues or to fall in love himself. Why bother? He knows how marriages end. But, his new housekeeper, as odd as she is, gives him a hard on he has to take care of. The good news is Aislynn seems more than happy to oblige. She is his sexual fantasy come true, from the mid-day office visit that includes a spanking session to the trip to Trinker’s Sex Toys. Aislynn is willing to try anything.
But, when Aislynn’s past catches up with her, Finley will have to decide if his attraction for Aislynn goes further than the surface of the water. Does he really want to get in deep with his mermaid?

What is she like first thing in the morning?
    Goes for a swim.
Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?

Know the Heroine from The Ebb

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
Sofia loves to daydream or to write poetry so she’s likely to do one of the two. Or even both.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
A cheese pastry. It’s one of the most popular go-to snacks for students in Athens such as herself.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
She works on a sports pier on the beach in Corfu during the summer so wears her swimsuit all day long. In the evenings, she wears shorts or mini skirts and flimsy cotton t-shirts as it’s too hot and humid to wear anything else.
Does she know how to fix things?
Goodness, no! These things are done only by men in her Greek world of the 1980s…
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
When things go bad, Sofia tends to get upset and cry. Not because she’s weak but because she’s grown too fed up to handle her inner misery by now. Her parents are overprotective, and her father, especially, is very strict and expects her to be perfect in every way. The last time she got in trouble with her dad was when she had some fun going out for a drink with her cousins but neglected to drop by her uncle Yannis’s restaurant on her way home like she was supposed to. In her defense, though, Uncle Yannis gives her the creeps…
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Sofia is sweet and gentle with children. Her mother and grandmother are both affectionate, nurturing women who show her love generously, so she acts the same towards the young ones. Sofia actually likes the shy children the most, as they remind her of her at that age. She loves to make them laugh.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Sofia stretches like a cat and yawns a lot in bed, snoozing for a good while before getting up. She dresses quickly in casual attire and after a cup of tea and some buttered toast she’s ready to face the day. When she rushes to catch the bus to Athens for her studies, she often skips breakfast and grabs a cheese pastry on her way to University.
How does she act around people who don’t know what she is?
Sofia acts nonchalant with everyone, and has become masterful over time at hiding her true feelings and wishes. She has many secrets because she was raised by overprotective parents and is plagued by village gossip in Corfu as well where she spends her summer holidays with her grandparents. The only person who knows all her secrets is her best friend Loula. Together, they visited a clairvoyant who told Sofia that Danny, the English tourist she’s fallen for, is someone she loved in a previous life. She also helped her make some sense of the grieving woman that haunts her dreams, dictating poems to her.
Will she let a worker handle things or do it herself?
Sofia doesn’t hire workers and lets her parents or grandparents deal with these things. She never does this sort of thing as everyone still treats her like a minor despite her being twenty years old. Even when she tries to get a job for the first time (in a sports pier in Corfu during the summer of 1987), she has to get her father’s permission first!
    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
Pierced earrings are okay. Sofia got her ears pierced as a teen which is very common in Greece and was deemed acceptable by her family. Anything else would be unheard of. Her family would have a fit, but she wouldn’t want to have any tattoos or piercings anyway. In her world, that’s a very uncommon thing to see.
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
Sofia doesn’t have a driver’s license so she takes buses to visit the Athens university. For her annual visit to the island of Corfu, she takes a coach, then a ferry across from the mainland.
    Recycle or toss?
Recycling isn’t a widespread practice in the 1980s in Greece. So, the only recycling Sofia does is that of printed paper. She uses the blank side for noting stuff down. Oh. And she donates her old clothes to the local church or to poor families in her neighborhood.
