New Server — New Power

RLFblog has attracted so many visitors we crashed the server three times in the past month. On September 20th, we had no visitors on the blog so that we could move to a new, more powerful and roomier server. This should hold us for a bit! It also means I can add even more services. Look for new things in 2018, such as Free Book Friday and other goodies for readers (and authors)!

Not only does RLF post automatically to Triberr with a reach of several million, each post is also featured on the Romance Lives Forever Pinterest board http://www.pinterest.com/kayelleallen/romance-lives-forever-rlfblog/ as well as on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/RomanceLivesForever/ and Twitter https://www.twitter.com/kayelleallen When you like, follow and share it increases the reach. Thank you for sharing with your followers and friends!

Bringer of Chaos: the Origin of Pietas by Kayelle Allen #RLFblog #SciFi #PietasToday’s featured book is Bringer of Chaos: the Origin of Pietas a science fiction novel by Kayelle Allen.

Why should Pietas end the war with humans?

His people are winning, yet they insist on peace talks. The Ultra people want to grant humans a seat on the Council. Pietas ap Lorectic, Chancellor of the High Council, War Leader and First Conqueror, disagrees. What’s best for mortals is oppression, control, and if necessary, elimination.

Pietas seethes with rage at the idea of human equality. Humans might have created Ultras, but the creation has far surpassed the creator. Humans die. Ultras are reborn, no matter how grievous the injury. They have no equals.

His people permit him no choice. He must attend these insipid peace talks on Enderium Six and what’s worse, be polite. To humans.

When a human special ops warrior is killed in battle, he’s resurrected in a secret process and inducted into the Ghost Corps. He’s given enough strength to perma-kill immortal Ultras. Ghosts are the most hated and feared of warriors.

When the ghost entraps and captures Pietas at the peace talks, the two begin a long journey toward Sempervia, an isolated and forgotten world. Once there, Pietas is marooned and the ghost abandoned alongside him. The two must either fight to perma-death, or join forces to survive.

As Pietas comes to trust the human, an unlikely and awkward friendship begins. Until he discovers how ghosts are resurrected…

Today we’re reading about NarrAy Jorlan from At the Mercy of Her Pleasure by Kayelle Allen. Tell us about your book.

He’s a professional thief. She’s a by-the-book army captain. Do opposites attract? Oh, mercy!

Hired to steal back a prototype taken by the imperial armada, Senth Antonello retrieves it, but his brother is kidnapped to force Senth to surrender the device.
Now he has to rescue his brother, outsmart the armada, and keep the item out of imperial hands. All doable, except for one small problem. He must do it in the company of NarrAy Jorlan, a genetically altered woman whose pheromones could enhance the mission or crumble it into dust with a single siren kiss.

Stressing NarrAy Jorlan

Every heroine has a story. She has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a heroine and get to know her better, by focusing on how she handles being relaxed, as well as how she handles stress.

Age: 28

Birthplace: Tarthian Empire

Profession: Captain in the All People’s Liberation Army (a rebel)

Ethnicity: Better (an addictive, enhanced human)

Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Human

The Heroine’s Relaxed Side

This heroine is at a party. Considering her story, describe the party.

NarrAy’s story starts out with her wearing a hot red party dress so she can fit in at a night club. She’s there undercover to meet and hire a professional thief. The place is crowded to the max.

How does the heroine feel about being this particular party, and what body language is she displaying that gives it away?

She is not happy about being there and stands above the crowd on a hotel balcony, her arms crossed while she taps one foot.

Is she more likely to mingle or remain aloof?

NarrAy is not shy, but because her kind is addictive, they are forbidden access in society. She stays away from crowds.

If she drinks, what is her drink of choice at this party?

She’s too aware of her pheromones and how they affect others to risk getting drunk. She drinks something that looks alcoholic but isn’t.

How much drink is her usual?

She sometimes has a glass of wine with dinner. That’s it.

The heroine figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?

She’s avoiding anyone and everyone. Not only is her kind forbidden to mingle with others, they are not allowed to touch anyone either.

Is she likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is she the friend that others latch onto?

Others go stand beside her. She is the strong, silent type.

If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the heroine going to handle it?

Physically, she is tiny. However, all she has to do is release her pheromones and anyone in the vicinity will go glassy-eyed and slack-jawed. She’s not afraid of anyone no matter how big they are. Literally, no one can touch her if she doesn’t want them to.

Is the heroine the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?

She would do the tossing.

Will she know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of herself?

She’s often the first to leave, unless she’s meeting someone on a covert mission or op.

Stressing NarrAy from At the Mercy of Her Pleasure #RLFblog #scifi #romance

The Heroine’s Stressed Out Side

How does the heroine handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls her aside when she was blameless in a situation?

She’s meek and demure and does not argue. However, she will not allow herself to be detained unjustly. It’s not something she’s proud of, but she can overpower with her pheromones and use her voice to control others. If she’s angry, the combination can kill.

How does the heroine react to hearing a scream?

She seeks backup if possible, but if she can’t, she will still investigate.

If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses her mind?

Protect the person. Then punish the assailant.

If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing she does?

Take a second to assess the situation. She does not leap blindly into anything, but she’s quick to decide and once she has, she doesn’t pull back.

This heroine attempts to rescue someone and realizes that she is in over her head. The odds are against her and there is no way out. She is going to get her butt handed to her. What does she do?

NarrAy will use her pheromones and voice to take command of the situation. She avoids that if possible.

The heroine runs into the one person from her past she wanted to avoid. She can’t get out of the situation and must interact with him/her in some way. What does she do?

She gets stiff and formal, retreats behind a wall of polite iciness and waits for the person to leave. If it looks like they aren’t, she makes excuses for leaving and gets out of there.

Someone younger than the heroine is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the heroine deal with it?

She comes alongside, talks to them, and if she outranks them (she’s a captain, after all) she will direct them as to how to fix the situation and proceed.

The heroine is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does she tell herself in order to get through the situation?

Pain is fleeting. Honor is forever.

What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?

“Think, assess, and then act without regret.”

What lesson from her past gets her through a stressful situation?

When her parents were killed and their belongings confiscated by the Tarthian Empress, she considered it the worst day of her life. From the moment she heard what had happened, she knew she had to take back what was stolen and honor her parents’ legacy. She reminded herself daily, sometimes hourly, that she would make them proud.

#Romance Lives Forever @SayaraStClair @JessicaCale #RLFblogMay 2017 marked the first month on the new WordPress site. Because the feed into Triberr stayed the same, the number of viewers did not decrease. In fact, I linked to a few more tribes that feature the romance genre, which gave RLF an expanded reach and views were up all around. Sincere thanks to Dee Owens at Personalized Marketing Inc for her hard work at making this blog look awesome and work so perfectly.

Three of the top four posts were blog related, including our special RLFblog Day One post titled Discover Authors and Books with RLFblog, RLFblog Moving Day, and the monthly RLF Gems. I did not count them among the top bloggers because all those awards would go to me. I’d like to see the credit go to guests. You are why I do this!

The Top Blogger for this month is Saraya St Clair, who wins a month of free advertising on the blog. Top Blogger of 2016 was Susan V Vaughn, who won a year of free advertising for 2017.

Each month, the RLF Gems post ranks in the top ten but is not counted, in order to focus on guests. The winners are judged by cumulative page views, including return and unique visits.

Discover Authors and Books #RLFblog #authors #books @kayelleallenThe banner on Romance Lives Forever says, “Discover Authors and Books with Kayelle Allen” and this is the second blog where that has appeared. Today’s post is the first official “new” article on the second. The first blog was on our origin site on Blogspot. I pledge to continue helping readers find good authors and good books, in that order.

Discover Authors and Books

To discover an author one can enjoy reading takes time. I’ve sampled books on Amazon, joined sites that promise sales and freebies, spent time cruising around booksellers, bookstores, and talked to friends. I read. I read every single day. I am always on the lookout for an awesome new book. So believe me, I am serious when it comes to helping you discover authors and books on this site.

To discover a book, one must know the genre. On this site, a drop down menu allows readers to immediately find books by their genre and/or subgenre. Click Romance in the menu and subgenres drop down. Point to each to see if there are subgenres below those (for example, Romance>Military>SEALs). Look under Science Fiction and you’ll find Immortals, Science Fiction Romance, and Time Travel. There are other subgenres as well. Poke through the menus to discover more. Whatever you like to read, if RLFblog doesn’t have it yet, we likely will. Leave a note in the comments about what you’d like to see.

Authors, speaking as one of the breed, I want you to feel at home here. I pledge to do my best to make it easy for you to share your books and stories. If you have questions or issues, just email me. I’ll get back to you ASAP. Get downloads, check the schedule, or sign up for a new spot by clicking the “Guests + About RLF” menu. There’s a simple privacy policy listed and a note about how we use cookies under the “Privacy and Disclosure” menu. My hero, Pietas, has a few choice words to say about the uselessness of cookies and all the warnings we offer about them. He’s not what you’d call famous for his sense of humor (after all, he is known as the Bringer of Chaos) but I have to say he pulled out all the stops on a deadpan delivery for this one.

Now, I’ll get out of the way and let you start discovering. Enter the name of a genre, author, or book in the search box (upper left corner) and see what comes up. Cruise through the site and check out the author and character interviews. If you’re an author, go to the FAQ page and see how easy it is to sign up (you can pick your own dates) and begin sharing your books here.

If you’re new, welcome! If you’re a previous follower, welcome back!
