Let's Start With Forever by June Kramin @junekramin #RLFblog #NewAdult College Age RomanceToday’s featured book is Let’s Start With Forever, a New Adult/College Age Romance by June Kramin.

Vicki had always felt growing up on Maui was truly paradise in every way. Meeting Marshall her senior year made it that much more perfect. Flying to Oahu with him and losing her most valuable possession—her virginity—comes with a high price. Having just turned eighteen and now pregnant, she still doesn’t second guess her decision about breaking her rules and going through with it.
She does however second guess his marriage proposal, feeling as if she’s trapping him in a course he’ll regret later. Marshall repeatedly convinces her marriage is what he wants, and she agrees to marry him. Life could not be more perfect, until she loses the baby late in the pregnancy. She finds herself once again questioning their marriage and flees back home with her parents.
Marshall eventually convinces her to return to him, only to have her say goodbye days later to accomplish her original goal—college. They manage to make their marriage work through long semesters and separate islands. Once again, life is perfect…
Until Vicki discovers a small detail Marshall left out about his past. She runs away yet again. He tracks her down and desperately fights for the only thing he has ever wanted in his life. Her.

Interview with June Kramin

Why did you write
this book?
I Got Your Back, Hailey came as a sort of surprise. When the
story took off, I honestly wasn’t exactly sure the role Parker was going to
take. I’ll always confess to being a “pantser”. I usually let my characters run
the show; they haven’t let me down yet. This one was definitely more along the
lines of what I love to read – romantic suspense. Even through my edits, I
found myself wondering how they’d get out of their latest mess. When I sent it
out for reviews, I got the most amazing e-mails from fans, begging for more. I
couldn’t disappoint, so I quickly began working away at the sequel. There is
nothing I love more than a good series, and following a favorite author.
I hope to see many more come from this bunch of misfits!
What is your favorite
genre to read?
Besides 3 authors, all I’ll read are my friend’s books so
that kinda makes me all over the board. I’ll give anything a shot, but I love a
good suspense or anything that keeps you wanting to turn the page to see what
happens next.
Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Lucas Davenport from John Sandford’s Prey series. Again, I
love following a character from book to book. I’ve read him for years and will
hate to see it end someday.
What are you working
on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
My first release was a time travel romance – Dustin Time.
Fans asked for more so I wrote a sequel. I never thought about writing a third
but after I was released from my contract and rereleased them, the characters decided
they weren’t done with me. I was afraid to say anything in case I didn’t see it
through but I’m more than halfway in and still going strong. I do plan on
another book in the Hailey series as well – or several. We’ll have to see what
they do to me. I still have some early books that I keep saying I’ll go back
and beat into shape, but new stories keep getting in the way. I always have a
ton of pots on the fire.
Please tell us about
your latest book.
I’ve Also Got Your Front, Hailey – Follow up to I’ve Got
Your Back, Hailey. (Parker names these things – don’t blame me ;)
With the McMand job behind them, Donny is taking a much
needed vacation at one of Parker’s safe houses. After encountering a woman in
trouble and trying to help her, he’s injured in the struggle. He’s forced to
call for Parker and the rest of the team’s help.
Although the island is normally a peaceful tourist
destination, they soon discover that it is run by a drug lord. He’ll stop at
nothing, trying to get back what is his – the woman Donny rescued. She fled,
afraid for her life, and Donny is determined to get her off the island safely.
Falling in love with her only complicates matters more.
They desperately need to get to safety, but Parker just as
desperately wants to keep his Mexico retreat in the clear. The sudden
appearance of his sister and an old hacker friend they discover in the mix
quickly turns this into their most dangerous job yet.

Interview with June Kramin

Why did you write this
book?
I only do what the voices in my head tell me to. ;) Honestly,
I was in bed one night and a character name popped into my head. Sounds cheesy,
but it was Parker Peters. Yup – Spiderman in reverse. I don’t know why, but I was
determined to write something around that. I was in the middle of another project
at the time, but once I started – it just ran itself. It’s by far the most action
I’ve written and I loved the way it all fell together. I loved the mystery of Parker.
Just like his name came to me with no clue who he was, he was just “there”
and I wasn’t sure who he would turn into. Hands down, he’s my favorite male MC to
date!
What is your favorite
genre to read?
I like a lot of suspense. I love the “can’t wait to turn
the page” feeling.
What is your favorite character from fiction (not including your
own characters)?
For many years now, it has been Lucas Davenport – John Sandford’s
main character in his Prey series.
Do you enjoy films and/or
TV shows? Which are your favorites?
We cancelled TV almost 10 years ago. We’re not reality fans and
it seemed that’s all that was on. We are big movie people, though. We’ve gotten
into a few TV shows that we found on Netflix. Currently we’re catching up on Leverage
and Castle. With my middle grade books, fun fantasies are also favorite. Once Upon
a Time and Grimm are on the list as well.
What are you working on
at the moment, and what are we likely to see from you in the coming months?
Like with my characters running the show, I let my fans bully
me. I received an awesome e-mail about someone loving my novel: “Money Didn’t
Buy Her Love”. She was hoping for a sequel so I wrote it. I was glad someone
else’s mind went where mine had gone with a secondary character. I’m on the last
edits then it will be off to my editor. Same for “I Got Your Back, Hailey”.
My 1st two 5-star reviews mentioned wanting more so I am working on that
as well. I love to follow a series. I hope I can keep the intensity up with Hailey
and her crew and keep them coming. I do still have a few older novels that are easier
romance reads on my laptop and the last few of my middle grade series. Eventually
they will need to be beaten into shape and get out there as well. I always have
a few pots on the fire.
Please tell us about your
latest book.
I Got Your Back, Hailey is full of twists and turns and surprises.
Parker and Hailey meet by chance, but he discovers she’s who he’d been searching
for. They find out that they share a connection to the man that wants her dead.
Together they try to find ways to prove his guilt while trying to stay alive.
A jailbreak of some needed muscle, a sassy young pilot, a sexy
stewardess, and a computer geek with a Gilligan’s Island fetish make up my favorite
list of secondary characters ever!
I love our summer road trips. Austin, Texas
was last summer’s destination for a convention. It made for a great scene here,
as well as Las Vegas
a few years prior. Hailey’s distaste for California
traffic stems from my experience a few years back as well. LOL. Guess if I’m going
to complete the sequel, I’ll need to road trip again. J
When Hailey stumbles upon a backpack full of money on her nightly
jog, she is forced to flee the security of her secret identity.
Although the sudden appearance of a man that had been flirting
with her earlier seems odd, Hailey accepts Parker’s help in getting the heavy bag
home. Within moments of arriving, they escape under gunfire. The men it was intended
for want it back, and Hailey has now made herself a target.
Safe in a motel room, the two of them discover the truth: although
their meeting was an accident, Parker had been involved in the bag’s drop and she
had been his assignment all along. Now, getting Hailey away safely is Parker’s new
mission. Together they struggle to put together the pieces of Hailey’s past and
discover that they have more in common than they thought.
Being on the run, keeping Hailey’s family safe, and searching
for clues to put away the man that wants her dead are hard enough. Falling in love
in the middle of it all was the last thing either one of them expected.

RLF Gems.

I’m pleased to report the status for March 2012 for the RLF blog. Winners this month topped the highest hits we’ve had since the blog began. This is in part due to Triberr, which helps deliver blog content to Twitter, and to the various networking apps such as Networked Blogs, Linky Followers, and Google Friend Connect. But the two top reasons for the success of these posts is good content, and the efforts of the guest blogger to share the site with others. For that, I’m grateful.

Here are the top five posts, in order of total hits. Click the link to visit the post.

My sincere thanks to each guest who blogged this month. I enjoyed hosting you, and hope you’ll come back when you have a new book or other info to share.  Thank you to those who have made RLF a new place to hang out and discover new books and new authors.

Tell us about your latest book, including its genre. Does it cross over to other genres? If so, what are they?
My last published novel is titled Hunter’s Find. It is a Thriller/Suspense but there are enough romantic elements to keep romance readers satisfied. I’ve had a few readers fighting over Hunter. Sorry, ladies. Mandy could take you. ;)
Helping your prisoner is one thing. Falling in love with her is another all together.
Blurb: Hunt is a small town Sheriff who finds himself in for more than he bargained for when he discovers Mandy beaten and unconscious. After repeated attempts of escaping him, he finds himself now her captive instead. Mandy convinces him she’s after her husband who has kidnapped their daughter and will stop at nothing to find her.
Although his instincts tell him differently, Hunt becomes involved with her and agrees to help. What he doesn’t know is there is no child. Mandy is hiding her involvement with the FBI and the mob, and after revenge. Hunt is in over his head tracking her husband to the isolated cabin and the backlash it causes a year later.
How do you come up with ideas?
If you ever find out, let me know. All of my novels have started from a single idea and I let my characters take it from there. I never outline – I just write. Hunter’s Find started out with a guy walking home from a bar and finding a woman in the bushes. I had no idea the twists it would take.
Would you consider self publishing?
No. I know a lot of people have had great success with it and I’ll never put down anyone that wants to do so, but I always needed to hear someone say, “I have to have this!” I am thrilled to have found the wonderful publishers I have. Even though I’ve learned a ton about editing and publishing, I won’t take that route.
Are your stories plot or character driven?
Character for sure. As I wrote Hunter’s Find, I knew something was up with Amanda, but I didn’t know what. Even as I wrote her saying, “He’ll want nothing to do with me when he knows what I am,” I had no idea what she was. My characters always surprise me. In Dustin Time – I had no idea Dusty could play the piano. Double Mocha – Ellie? You’re a twin? Nice to know. It’s as exciting for me writing my books as I hope it is for someone reading them. I can never wait to see what unfolds next.
What is the craziest thing you did as a kid, and would it ever end up in a book?
More than a few of the crazy things I’ve done have made its way into my books. Growing up on Maui offered a lot of ways to make people wonder if you had a living brain cell. If there was something warned against doing, we did it. Jumping off bridges, being pulled by a jeep around on a tire through a mud bug, swimming through tunnels… if my mother knew half of it, she would have been gray before her time.
What are some jobs you’ve done that would end up in a book?
Most of them have and I’m sure more are to come (I’ve had a lot of jobs). Kaitlyn in Dustin Time was a vet. I worked 4 years for vets. Ellie in Double Mocha, Heavy on Your Phone Number was a barista & Bix added computers. Hubby & I owned a cyber café for 7 years. Regina in Come and Talk to Me worked for a lumberyard. I did that for 4 years as well. OK, maybe I wasn’t a bad@ss FBI agent like Amanda in Hunter’s Find, but it was still fun to write!
List two authors we would find you reading when taking a break from your own writing.
Kelly Meding and Gini Koch are just a couple of writer friends that have been very successful. I look forward to every book in each series and get to them as soon as humanly possible.

A biography has been written about you. What do you think the title would be in six words or less?
Insanity. Not just for breakfast anymore.
What song would best describe your life?
Maybe not song but title for sure: Every day I Write the Books ~ Elvis Costello or
I Wanna Dance With Somebody ~ Whitney Houston
Tell us an embarrassing story that has to do with a pet.
I have always loved fish tanks. At one point I had 2-55 gal, 2-10 gal & 3-5 gal. After I moved, I never set myself up like that again. I did get a small 2-gal for my daughter when we moved from Maui to MN. Somewhere along the line I lost my touch in cleaning tanks and transferring the fish back into them. Of the sentences you never thought you’d hear yourself holler, I can now cross off: “Hon! Come quick! The fish is stuck to the side of the refrigerator!”

Please Fill in the Blanks

I love pizza with   mushrooms .
I’m always ready for  doing the electric slide.
When I’m alone, I   watch movies no one else likes .
You’d never be able to tell, but     I’m a wee bit of a loon. Okay, you can tell.
If I had a halo it would be    tarnished 10 ways from Sunday .
If I could    do it all again   I’d   do it all exactly the same .
I can never  sing karaoke  because  I’d hate to clean out the bar .
