Welcome Jennifer Loring author of The Pieces of Us (The Firebird
Trilogy Book 3), a new contemporary sports romance.
Why did you write
this book?
From the time I finished Firebird, I knew Alex’s story was
going to be a trilogy; I just wasn’t sure exactly how I wanted to end the
journey of a character that has become so dear to me. I tossed around a couple
of ideas but decided to go with the one I hoped readers were least likely to
expect. Alex gets his HEA, but not in the way you might think. And while some
readers might not like it, it’s where the story needed to go.
What is your favorite
genre to read?
It will probably always be horror, though I do read some
romance (mostly PNR and some historical). I also love non-fiction.
Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Two are characters I’ve loved since I was a
teenager—Irrylath from The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce and Zach
from Poppy Z. Brite’s Drawing Blood. I also adore Constantine from Robin
McKinley’s Sunshine. Two out of three are vampires, so I guess that says a lot
about me. J
What are you working
on at the moment?
A paranormal romance novella for After Glows Publishing and an
outline for a narrative game/interactive novel. I wasn’t going to work on a
novel-length project again until 2018, but I couldn’t resist the urge to
re-start the PNR novel I initially researched and outlined over a year ago. The
plot finally came together after a few false starts, and I’m excited about
writing it again.
What books will we see
from you in coming months?
April brings the fairy tale anthology Forest Seclusion,
featuring my transgender romantic fantasy story “If Only You Were Someone
Else,” from Supposed Crimes, and the first Erotikós anthology—containing
two of my erotic horror short stories—from DarkFuse. In May, I’ll be in a
contemporary romance anthology called Craving: Bad with a new Firebird short
story, and in August, I’ll appear in Crystal Lake Publishing’s Tales from the
Lake vol. 4. In October, I’ll have a novella in After Glows Publishing’s Hidden
Demons paranormal romance anthology. I still have quite a few short stories,
novellas, and novelettes submitted to various publishers, so hopefully this
list will be updating soon!
Please tell us about
your latest book.

Aleksandr Volynsky thinks he’s experienced the worst life
can throw at him, until the most devastating loss leaves him questioning
everything…
One year later, Alex and his daughter, Anya, are still
picking up the pieces. In the process, he realizes how far apart their mutual
grief has driven them and how lonely he has become—especially when the Buffalo
Gladiators’ beautiful anthemist, Hannah Kent, finally introduces herself.
Anya Volynsky is a high-school senior with plans—her father’s
plans—to become the first woman on a professional hockey team’s starting
roster…
But Anya is toying with the idea of staying in Buffalo and
caring for her father rather than accept a scholarship to play hockey at Boston
College. Her decision becomes even more difficult when she meets her school’s
new athletic trainer, Lucas Donovan. Their experience with similar losses draws
them together, and soon their friendship blossoms into a forbidden love that
neither of them expected.
With lives torn apart by sorrow, Alex and Anya try to
restore their bond, but it’s not that easy…
Alex’s attraction to Hannah keeps
growing stronger, and he needs to decide if he’s ready to overcome his pain—but
also if he’s willing to do it without Anya’s approval. Anya, on the other hand,
is headed for trouble, and while Alex tries to do the right thing in order to
protect her, all he manages to do is push her further away.
Can Alex and Anya find the courage to pick up the broken
pieces of their lives, or will the heartache of the past ruin their chances at
finding happiness again?

Welcome Jennifer Loring author of No One on Earth, a new m/m
sci-fi romance.
Why did you write
this book?
After Glows Publishing had put out a call for m/m sci-fi
romance novellas to be collected into a holiday-themed anthology. The concept
interested me, so I experimented with a couple of different story ideas, all
involving Native American folklore, before settling on the legend of the
Handsome Fellow. I grew up on a reservation, but this was my first time writing
an indigenous character. I don’t think it will be my last. J Anyway,
the novella first appeared in Starstruck Holidays this past Christmas and is
now releasing on its own.
What is your favorite
genre to read?
It will probably always be horror. I also love non-fiction.
Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Two are characters I’ve loved since I was a
teenager—Irrylath from The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce and Zach
from Poppy Z. Brite’s Drawing Blood. I also adore Constantine from Robin
McKinley’s Sunshine.
What are you working
on at the moment?
A Gothic/paranormal romance novella for After Glows,
concepts for a narrative game, and a lot of short fiction.
What books will we see
from you in coming months?
March will bring my novella Prison Made of Mirrors, a
retelling of Snow White, from Strange Fictions Press. The final book of The
Firebird Trilogy (The Pieces of Us) releases from Limitless Publishing in April,
and the first Erotikós anthology—containing two of my erotic horror short
stories—from DarkFuse. In May, I’ll be in a contemporary romance anthology that
I can’t talk about yet.

Jon, a psychic since childhood, has never felt at home in
the world, even less so after his lover died on Winter Solstice a year ago.
Since his abilities failed him when he needed them most, he turns to alcohol
and rejects his family’s assertion that he is a Star Child—an alien/human
hybrid. When Jon’s sister suggests he should look into the legend of Handsome
Fellow, Jon decides that if he cannot find happiness himself, he will bring it
to others.
Erukkass’ people, a species of interdimensional aliens, have
been observing Earth and interacting with humans for so many centuries that
some Native American tribes believe their ancestors originated from the stars.
After his lover passed away in what appears to be a medical accident, he
accepts a scientific mission… but not for the reasons his government expects. He
has located his beloved on another timeline, in another universe—ours—and he
will not leave without him.
Jon returns home from work one evening to find a gift of his
own—a strange young man waiting for him. Erukkass unveils one stunning
revelation after another, including the truth behind his lover’s death and the
nature of time itself. Can he and Jon forge a future together, or will two
timelines that have always intersected, no matter when or where, finally be
forced to diverge?

From Jennifer Loring’s No One on Earth ~ Erukkass has located his deceased lover in another dimension and refuses to leave without him. Jon, grieving a devastating loss, turns to the native legend of Handsome Fellow for comfort. When he and Erukkass meet, can they forge a future together, or will two timelines that have always intersected, no matter when or where, finally be forced to diverge?
From Merryn Dexter’s Conjunction ~ The mystical Conjunction of the moons of Elexon sets two men on a collision course. A pirate and a prince — nothing in common but the attraction burning between them. What starts as a fling soon grows serious, but a relationship built on a foundation of secrets and constructed from lies is no relationship at all.
From B. Leslie Tirrell’s Arizona Impulse ~ Ambassador Kallell Tezak, the youngest member of the Galaxy Alliance, overhears two of his fellow ambassadors conspiring to take control of the device that protects the galaxy from famine. Kallell knows it is his duty to stop them, but he also wants to enjoy his favorite holiday, Genzebe, and summon the bravery to confess his love for the shy and serious Esten Lazzaro, who happens to be Kallell’s second in command.
From Kerry Adrienne and Lia Davis’s First Contact ~ Fugitive Tristan Hawthorne escapes imprisonment only to crash-land on an unidentified, uncharted planet where he faces an alien who stirs passions he thought were long buried. With one working ship and a failing planetary cloaking device, it’s a short time until humans discover Oria and Tristan is recaptured. Under the starry, moonlit sky of the holiday Jainfest, the men learn to overcome their feelings of fear and distrust, and wind up finding out they aren’t so different after all.

Interview with Jennifer Loring

Why did you write this book?
I knew when I finished Firebird that Alex’s story was far from over, so last summer—before I had begun submitting to publishers—I made a vague outline for two more books. The sexual assault allegations against Chicago Blackhawks’ star Patrick Kane, as well as the music video “Let Them Talk” by Russian pop singer Katyla Lel and starring her friend Alexander Ovechkin (Washington Capitals captain), inspired a great deal of What’s Left of Me.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Horror, dark fantasy, paranormal romance, non-fiction.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Irrylath from Meredith Ann Pierce’s The Darkangel Trilogy; Constantine from Robin McKinley’s Sunshine; Zach from Poppy Z. Brite’s Drawing Blood; Gimli from J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings; the vampires of J. R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood.
What are you working on at the moment, and what will see from you in coming months?
I’ve finished the first draft of the final Firebird book, which does not yet have a title and won’t be out until next year. I’ve also been working on some new short stories for anthologies. Several other short stories and at least two novellas are scheduled to be released this year.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Recovering from years of living the superstar hockey life wasn’t easy, but now Aleksandr Volynsky finally has everything…
He’s married to the love of his life, expecting a daughter, and has a new job as an assistant coach with his old team, the Buffalo Gladiators. His happiness is short lived, however, when a sexual assault allegation surfaces, and Alex is forced to cooperate with an investigation for a crime he didn’t commit.
Stephanie Hartwell is juggling her dream job with marriage and motherhood, but she’s not convinced she’s doing any of it well…
Stephanie’s stress level goes from bad to worse when she’s diagnosed with a serious illness. Battling declining health and the critics who question her commitment to Alex in light of the allegation, she makes a decision that could change their relationship forever.
Alex is afraid he’s about to lose everything—especially when he sees Stephanie’s friend kiss her…
Devastated that his life is spiraling out of control again, Alex turns to his friend, Natasha, a Russian pop star. Convinced that Stephanie and her friend Brandon are having an affair, Alex resumes his self-destructive behavior.
What Alex doesn’t know is Stephanie has been conducting a secret investigation of her own. She learns the truth behind the sexual assault—a truth no one, especially Alex, expects.
With everything now out in the open, can Stephanie and Alex commit to a fresh start for the sake of their daughter, or will the ghosts of their pasts finally tear apart everything they have left?
