Is It True: Baby, That’s the Spirit! by Robin Michaela @robinsromances #RLFblog #Romance #Indiereads

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Robin Michaela, author of Baby, That’s the Spirit!, a contemporary romance with paranormal elements. This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.
First, tell us about your book.
When free-spirited clairvoyant, Amethyst Raines, comes to Sweetness to tell fortunes at the fall festival, she crosses circuits with hunky electrical contractor, Adam Burkett. While she’s drawn to him, she has no intention of getting involved with the sexy single dad. The problem is, she has a message for him from beyond the grave…and, she’d deliver it, if she could just get the infuriating man to believe she can speak with the dead.
Cynical skeptic Adam is tired of deceitful women. All he wants to do is finish out his job contract and settle his beloved grandmother’s estate before saying good-bye to Sweetness forever. And, he’s definitely not going to be tempted by a woman who claims she can talk to spirits. But when his little girl goes missing, Adam will do anything to find her, including putting his faith in the seductive medium he can’t seem to resist.
She’s trying to solve a century-old secret; he’s trying to find his daughter. If they can work together, their relationship just might stand a ghost of a chance.
    Genre: Contemporary
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Now, tell us Yes or No for each answer below. Feel free to explain any (or none) of your answers.

    Is it true:

    This is your first book?
No, I have three published books and a fourth will be released in April.
This book is part of a series?
Yes. This is Book #2 in the Southern Hearts series under the Southern Roads Kindle World (it’s a standalone, with an HEA, though). The first book is Baby, Count on Me, which tells the story of Amethyst’s cousin, Beau. He’s still carrying a torch for his first love – his college sweetheart, Jenna. Beau is stunned when Jenna unexpectedly shows up in his small town, but he’s pretty sure it’s a bad idea to risk his heart again.
You lost sleep while writing this book?
I did, but I lose sleep when I’m writing all of my books. I keep turning plots over and over in my head….
You did research for this book?
Yes. In addition to the romance element, there’s a ghost and a lost treasure from the Civil War in the book, as well as a setting in the Underground Railroad.
Some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
This book has a few ghosts in it, as well as Amethyst’s black cat, Boo.
This book has more than one genre?
Kinda sorta. Baby, That’s the Spirit! is a contemporary romance with some paranormal elements (hence, the word “spirit” in the title!).
You speak more than one language?
I had three years of German in high school and can only remember about 20 words now. So, not really…
You grew up where you live now?
No, I grew up in Florida, but now I live in Georgia.
    You love to read?
Yes, in fact that’s one of the things I miss most about being an author. I don’t read as much as I used to because I’m always writing.
    You are never late?
My Handsome Prince wishes that I was on time, but I have to admit to usually being on either right on the nose or a teensy bit late for most things (I’m always trying to get one more word on my manuscript…)
    You love pizza?
I do! Especially Hawaiian pizza (Canadian bacon and pineapple on top. Yum!)
    You love sushi?
Not really, but I can get by with California Rolls in a pinch.
    You have a pet?
Yes, I’m owned by a black cat named Boo. He’s the inspiration (and namesake) for Amethyst’s cat in Baby, That’s the Spirit!.
Where can we find your book online?
Baby, That’s the Spirit! is $1.99 on Amazon or FREE to read on Kindle Unlimited https://www.amazon.com/dp/B076B56V9J

Is It True: King of Swords by Anna Durbin @TheAnnaDurbin #RLFblog #Regency #RomanceWelcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Anna Durbin, author of King of Swords, a Regency romance. This is a game with yes and no questions. Writers can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

King of Swords by Anna Durbin

    Genre Regency romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
A fiercely independent spinster who desperately needs assistance . . .
Lady Cassandra Gardner will inherit fifty thousand pounds when she turns thirty—and just in time. She has a special purpose for her money, one no man could understand. But when her brother the duke tries to cheat her out of her fortune, she has no choice but to accept the help of the man who shattered her heart years ago.
    A gallant nobleman who can’t resist rescuing a damsel in distress . . .
Lord William Poniard is looking for a wife, but the last woman he should consider marrying is his archenemy’s sister, the woman who hates him with a vengeance. Yet, when she is compromised by her brother’s nefarious scheme, he sees an opportunity not only to rescue the lady by marrying her but also to exact revenge on the duke for his past betrayal.
Will she accept his offer of help and at what cost?
Despite the long-standing animosity between Cassandra and William, sparks fly when their attraction to one another ignites into a passion neither saw coming. Will one night of rapture unite them or drive them apart? Can she forget past wounds and let him back into her heart? And can he convince her that she is the only woman he wants?

    Is it true:

    this is your first book?
Yes. It’s my first published book at any rate. I wrote my first true “book” when I was in grade school and have been thinking up stories ever since.
this book is part of a series?
Yes. King of Swords is part of the Kings of the Tarot series. Each hero in the series is based on one of the kings in the tarot card deck, and I use the symbolism of the tarot cards throughout the story.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
Yes. I frequently think about plot points while trying to fall asleep, and it can keep me wide awake while I go through scenarios in my head. Sometimes, I give up on trying to sleep and just get up and go to my computer room and write.
you did research for this book?
Yes. Tons of research. The book takes place in Regency England, so I had to do extensive research on the period. Specifically, I delved into marriage laws of the era, Gretna Green elopements, and other topics.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
No. There are no non-human characters in this book.
this book has more than one genre?
No. The book is simply a Regency romance.
you speak more than one language?
No. I did take French in junior high and high school but never mastered the language.
you grew up where you live now?
No. I grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa, but now live in Madison, Wisconsin.
    you love to read?
Yes. I love to read all sorts of books ranging from romance to non-fiction.
    you are never late?
No. I always aim to be on time, but sometimes I miss the mark.
    you love pizza?
No. I’ll eat pizza, but I do not love it whatsoever.
    you love sushi?
    No. Absolutely NOT.
    you have a pet?
Yes. We have a calico cat named Maizy. She will be one year old in March, and we call her Crazy Maizy because she leaps through the air and flies around the house like a crazy woman. Although it’s fun to see her burn off that kitten energy, we’re hoping she calms down when she’s a little older.

Anna Durbin is the author of charming tales of the Beau Monde. Having grown up reading sagas of chivalry and romance, she began crafting her own elaborate stories in her imagination at a young age. It was only natural that she would one day write them down. Her first novel, King of Swords, was a 2012 Golden Heart® finalist.
Despite years of study in the biological and physical sciences, her true love has always been the literary arts. Inspired by her favorite author, Jane Austen, Anna adores the Regency Era and writes period pieces set during that time that show love conquering adversity. Oddly, for all her love of science and history, she is a faithful devotee of the New Age. She discovered tarot cards in a New Age shop in Minneapolis during a high school class trip one year and has been enchanted with them ever since. She enjoys weaving the symbolism of the tarot deck into her storylines.
Anna has lived in ten different states throughout her lifetime, from California to New Jersey. A Midwesterner at heart, she was born in Kansas and raised in Iowa. Currently, she lives in Wisconsin with her husband and works as a technician for local government.

First, tell us about your book.
You don’t always get a second chance on your first love.
Workaholic CPA Jenna Carmichael has played it safe all her life, except for once back in college when she gambled on romance and ended up with heartbreak. Her domineering father controlled every aspect of her world back then, and still does, but Jenna’s been nurturing a tiny spark of defiance and it’s finally ready to blaze to life.
Mechanical engineer Beau Davis saw plenty of excitement during his military service. Now, he’s ready to settle down in the cozy rural town of Sweetness, Georgia. The trouble is, he can’t find a woman who stirs his heart the way his college sweetheart did, and he’s been comparing women to her ever since.
When Jenna comes to Sweetness to audit the small town’s government grant, she and Beau are reunited. What will they be willing to risk for a second chance at love?

Is It True: Mystic by Gabi Stevens @GabiStevens #RLFblog #urbanfantasy

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Gabi Stevens, author of Mystic, an urban fantasy. This is a game with yes and no questions. Writers can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

    Mystic

    Genre: Urban Fantasy

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG 13

How could a good deed go so wrong?

Trask Sinclair enjoys his life as a famous author living in New York City. His greatest adventures come from the characters in his books. But after stepping in to protect a woman on the run—a woman with eyes that speak of hidden depth, intrigue, and loneliness—Trask is suddenly pulled into a world he never could have written.

Allys Joel sees the future when she touches someone. That’s why a Wall Street firm held her prisoner for sixteen months. Escaping with Trask’s help puts both their lives at risk. When conventional travel proves impossible, they must journey cross-country to get to the safety of the mysterious town of Mystic, Wyoming. As they fight for their lives, their freedom, and a possible budding romance, they must come face to face with the reality—and secrets—that may change their lives forever.

    Is it true:

    this is your first book?
Not true. Mystic is my fourteenth published book, but only the sixth under the name Gabi Stevens.
this book is part of a series?
True. This is the first of a planned series about the mysterious town of Mystic and its inhabitants.
you lost sleep while writing this book?
True. But then again, I’m a poor sleeper.
you did research for this book?
True. I spent time in a friend’s RV, which plays a role in the story. I contacted the Cheyenne Airport for information about flights, planes their airport could handle, and private jets. And I read extensively about goats, King Arthur legends, and animal communication. Try tying all those things together.
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
Definitely! I don’t want to spoil anything, but creatures play a big role in this book.
this book has more than one genre?
True. It’s a little romance, a little humor, a little fantasy.
you speak more than one language?
True. In addition to English, I am fluent in Hungarian and German, and I studied Latin for many years.
you grew up where you live now?
Not true. I grew up in SoCal, went to boarding school in Colorado, college in New York, Germany, and California, and grad school in Illinois. Finally I ended up in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
    you love to read?
True. I believe my day is wasted unless I have read something that day. It’s an addiction. If I run out of books, I’ve been known to read my husband’s engineering periodicals.
    you are never late?
True. I am on time always. Can’t help it.
    you love pizza?
Not true. While I eat pizza sometimes, I’d rather have a burger any day.
    you love sushi?
True. I would eat sushi everyday if I could.
    you have a pet?
True. Two dogs presently—a cockapoo and a boxer mix.

Kryssie Fortune writes the sort of hot sexy books she loves to read. If she can sneak a dragon into her paranormal books she will. Her paranormal heroes are muscular werewolves, arrogant Fae, or BDSM loving dragons.

Kryssie likes her contemporary heroes ex-military and dominant. Her heroines are kick ass females who can hold their own against whatever life – or Kryssie – throws at them.

Kryssie’s pet hates are unhappy endings, and a series that end on a cliff hanger.

Her books are all stand alone even when part of series. Plot always comes before sex, but when her heroines and heroes get together, the sex is explosive and explicit. One review called it downright sensual.
