Days of Desire by Tina Donahue @tinadonahue #RLFblog #historicalToday’s featured book is Days of Desire, Book 2 in the Pirate’s Prize series, an erotic historical by Tina Donahue.

In a pirate’s lair, nothing is as it seems…

Shipwrecked! When Royce Hastings is found washed up on the shore of a verdant tropical island, he tells the natives he is a merchant headed for Mozambique. The truth, however, is far more mercenary. Noble by birth, the once favored Royce has lost his fortune and family; now he is a hired henchman on the trail of an elusive pirate. His “shipwreck” was a fake. He’ll stop at nothing to infiltrate the island and capture his prey. His mother and sisters’ lives depend on it.

The last thing Royce expects is to be captured himself. But the lovely young woman who tends to his wounds in the tropics quickly takes hold of his heart. Simone is the island’s healer, and her skilled ministrations not only awaken his soul but disturb his conscience. His path has been predetermined; his identity must remain concealed at all costs. Yet the passion he feels in Simone’s sultry, loving arms cannot be denied. With his loyalties torn, Royce must make an agonizing, unthinkable choice…

Venus and Lysander by Yoshiyuki Ly @LyLikeLee #RLFblog #historical #romance

Venus and Lysander by Yoshiyuki Ly @LyLikeLee #RLFblog #historical #romanceWelcome Yoshiyuki Ly author of Venus and Lysander, a new Historical Romance.

Why did you write this book?

LGBT historical romances typically focus on forbidden relationships. I decided to add fantasy elements and a made-up setting to mostly distance myself from that reality. It’s a fresh take on that type of era along with some social commentary so as to not make it completely unrealistic.

What is your favorite genre to read?

    Philosophy.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Noah from Consider What Becomes of the Ashes by Pixelnyx. He goes through many hardships as a refugee in a foreign city. I admire his muted tenacity as he pushes on.

What are you working on at the moment?

A distant follow-up to Venus and Lysander that wraps up the plot I’ve built up in this world. It’s a romance with fantasy elements, but set in a more contemporary time period.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Hopefully the one I mentioned above.

Please tell us about your latest book.

    Genre: Historical romance/fantasy.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R.

Living as a nobleman and as a woman, Valerie of Lysander is sick of waiting for the world to change. The discrimination she suffers as an outcast builds into resentment. Once Val takes matters into her own hands, the whole Empire of Tynan feels her brand of justice. The Emperor’s adviser, Lucrezia of Azrith, wants more of Val’s ruthlessness—for revenge against the unjust, and for her own desires. Venus and Lysander is an intricate romance set in the fictional Victorian city of Eden, 250 years after the events in The Scorpion’s Empress.

Lucrezia is Lady Chancellor for the Emperor and a sorceress-in-hiding. She is forced to conceal her identity from the religious public for fear of death. As she learns to trust in Val’s chivalry and affections for her, they both fall for the softer sides behind their similar bulletproof personas. Lucrezia receives a mysterious warning about a sadistic enemy threatening the Azrith and Lysander families. Once they discover their nemesis’ true motive, Val and Lucrezia’s tyrannous devotion for one another is all they can count on to survive.

Dorothea Sinclair has left her small home town in Maine and
come to Boston to begin a career as a newspaper reporter. But so far her job on
the Guardian has proved disappointing. More skivvy than reporter, she’s even
been subjected to a humiliating proposition from the chief editor’s son. She
needs a break but never expects it might come from a chance meeting with an
    Irish ruffian.
There’s a great deal of injustice in Boston, and O’Hare,
embroiled in his fight for equality on behalf of Boston’s Irish, is well aware
of it. When he rescues Dorothea’s hat on the waterfront, he’s surprised to
learn she’s a reporter. And when she offers him the opportunity to state his
case in the Guardian, what can he do but accept? It’s the perfect chance to put
his dreams into his own words—and the only sure way to see her again.

Is It True: The Reluctant Wife @warfieldcaro #historicalromance #RLFblog

Play Is It True with today’s guest Caroline Warfield author of The Reluctant Wife, a Historical Romance set in 1835. This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

First, tell us about your book.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R (or maybe PG13 with extra caution)

When Bengal Army Captain Fred Wheatly, a disgraced soldier with more honor than sense, is forced to resign, and his mistress dies leaving him with two half-caste daughters to raise, he reluctantly turns to Clare Armbruster for help. But the interfering, beautiful widow demands more of him than he’s ready to give. He’s failed so often in the past. Clare’s made mistakes as well. Can two hearts rise above past failures to forge a future together?

When all else fails, love succeeds…

    Yes. (The hero’s horse-grin!)
this book has more than one genre?
    No.
you speak more than one language?

    you are never late?
    No. I am clock impaired.
    you love pizza?
Yes Thin crust with lots of fresh tomatoes and other veggies.
    you love sushi?
No. Never touch the stuff, but I’m proficient with chopsticks and love most other Asian cuisine.
    you have a pet?
No. We travel too much to keep one.
