A Voice in the Air by Daryl Devore

    Genre Medieval Fantasy Romance
    Book heat level: G

Writers write in seclusion and dream of readers loving their books. Your interest in my work puts a smile on my face, warmth in my heart and will keep me writing. I am an eclectic writer. I write romance but in many genres and heat levels. Sweet romances – The Gift, Christmas Notes, Dancing in Circles and others. Hot romances – Desires, Love My Fate, Two Truths and a Lie and many more. There are also compilations where I have bundled romances together to heat up your evening – Hot and Hotter, Love a Billionaire and Capturing His Heart.

Then I accidently started a series. Long Ago is the title of my sweet medieval fantasy romance series.

The Last Dragon was my first foray into writing medieval fantasy romance and may I say I had a blast writing it. There are knights, dragons and faeries all set in a mythical, medieval kingdom millennia ago. When I wrote it, it was a single book, but my muse had other ideas. This book appeared yesterday on Romance Lives Forever, so scroll down to archives and check it out. The second book in the series is titled A Voice in the Air. A young lass, armed only with a sword, a horse and a faerie, is sent on a quest to rescue her crush. There is a third book which currently being written, but has no title yet as I am only on chapter 2.

I do not have a conventional newsletter. I have an author group where I can chat with my readers about my books and my life and not fill up their inboxes. I’ve included the link to the FaceBook group, but if you prefer not to use that site, I have a duplicate group on MeWe. And – if you prefer not to use that, I will provide a monthly email version of the newsletter. I want to make it as easy as possible for you to connect and learn about my books and my writing.

Available in the following formats: Mobi (Kindle), epub (Nook + other readers), PDF

An heiress with two failed Seasons, an eligible duke unable to keep women away, make a pact to court and find each other the perfect mate. They don’t have to look far.

Ruth, I’m happy to host you on Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Tell us about The Lady and the Barrister.

The Lady and the Barrister by Ruth A Casie

    Genre Historical Romance, Regency Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13

Lady Anna Ravencroft shines brightly as a much-admired organizer and hostess. In her mind it is the one thing at which she succeeds. Inwardly she is shy, retiring… a wallflower. With two failed seasons that ended in disaster she has accepted marriage might not be in her future.

Lord Fraser Castleton, a London barrister is shocked when he inherits a title and estate from his father’s great uncle and becomes the 8th Duke of Willbury. He returns to Sommer-by-the-Sea to take up permanent residence. He crosses paths with his longtime friend, Lady Anna. He confides that he is the target of every mother with an unmarried daughter. She commiserates with him. Every eligible gentleman sees the Ravencroft purse rather than her. Together they decide to find a mate for each other. Anna presents him with a list of several eligible women. Castleton is receptive, but not enthusiastic. He gives her the same reaction with the subsequent two lists. Will she realize he has already found his match?

Richard Younge who doesn’t always play by the rules wants to be the next Member of Parliament for his borough. His political backer will support him if Younge can finance the campaign himself. He suggests Younge find a wealthy wife to support his political plans. Marrying a Ravencroft would all but guarantee not only his backer’s continued support but provide the steady stream of money needed to claim his place amongst the gentry. He calls on Lady Anna for assistance with a campaign event and has an ulterior motive.

Two men vie for Lady Anna, but who will she choose? The smooth politician or the down-to-earth barrister turned duke?

Why did you write this book?

This is book one in my series, The Return of the Ladies of Sommer-by-the-Sea. Each of my heroines have attended the very unique Sommer-by-the-Sea Female Seminary. Each woman is personally selected by the headmistress for some unique skill. Lady Anna Ravencroft feels strongly about social justice. To fund her foundation people hire her to creates lavish events but instead of paying her, they donate the money to the foundation. People from all over seek an invitation to an event created by Lady Anna.

She simply took her party-giving skill to a higher level. I so enjoy writing stories about women who do the unexpected.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy reading historical romance and fantasy. I also enjoy adventure stories. All my books have some element of adventure. My pirate and medieval stories have epic fights. It parallels the conflict the hero and heroine find themselves in. You can be sure to find that to win those battles the hero and heroine must work together to be successful.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

This is difficult question. I love Claire in Outlander, Captain Blood (maybe that’s just Errol Flynn), Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean (he’s so cheeky), and there is always Mr. Darcy. Charlotte Holmes in Sherry Thomas’ Lady Sherlock series. I could go on…

What are you working on at the moment?

I am working on the next story in this series, The Lady and the Earl. I’m having so much fun with this story. Our heroine is a proficient surgeon in a time when men ruled the surgical suit.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I plan a third book in The Return of the Ladies of Sommer-by-the-Sea, The Lady and the Rogue, a case of mistaken identity. I have had so much fun with the ladies, that I’m planning to take on the men next in a series, Barrington’s Brigade.

Read The Lord and the Frenchman the new #Historical #MMRomance #Victorian #WriteLGBTQ by Neil S. Plakcy @neilplakcy #RLFblogTwo wounded men discover true love and a found family in Victorian England.

Neil, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about The Lord and the Frenchman.

The Lord and the Frenchman by Neil S Plakcy

    Genre MM Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings):

In the opulent courts of Victorian England, John Seales, Lord Therkenwell, is a man of wealth and privilege, expected to marry a woman of his own social standing and produce an heir. But when he meets dashing French diplomat Raoul Desjardins at a soirée arranged by a politically-connected gay couple, he finds himself inexplicably drawn to the man despite the risks of their forbidden love.

John and Raoul struggle to keep their feelings for each other hidden while becoming ensnared in a web of international intrigue that threatens to ruin their careers and endanger their lives. As they navigate the dangerous political landscape of the time, they must also confront their own demons and make a choice: follow the expectations of society or follow their hearts. Set against the backdrop of a tumultuous era, “The Lord and the Frenchman” is a passionate and romantic tale of love that knows no bounds.

Why did you write this book?

I love MM historical romance, and two years ago I decided to write one of my own—The Gentleman and the Spy. Reader response encouraged me to write a second loosely connected one. It was great fun to dive back into the Victorian era and develop two characters who belong together—but who could be torn apart by the larger forces around them.

What is your favorite genre to read?

While I do love MM romance, my favorite genre to read is cozy mystery with a touch of romance. I write my own series, the golden retriever mysteries, and I love the idea of being transported to a charming little town—with murder in the offing!

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Guido Morris from Happy All the Time by Laurie Colwin. He understand that happiness is an art form that requires energy, discipline, and talent, and devotes himself to that pursuit. I wish I could be so single-minded in developing happiness in my own life. So I work on providing that for characters.

What are you working on at the moment?

The heroes of my Have Body, Will Guard series are heading to Jordan to rescue a friend’s family in an as-yet untitled book. Lots of research necessary for that one!

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I’m juggling several series. The next Mahu Investigation (gay mystery/police procedural) is The Virgin Homicides, about deadly incels in Honolulu. Then Dog of Thieves, the 16th golden retriever mystery. Jeff Berman, the hero of Being John Church, a mystery/romance that came out last year, is delving into the death of a high school classmate 30 years before.

Read Lovers Ransom the new #HistoricalRomanticSuspense by Faye Hall @FayeHall79 #RLFblog #DramaPhoebe Toulouse ran away from her family…from her fiancé…from her life…and straight into the arms of Raymond MacAllester in Faye Hall’s new release Lover’s Ransom. Will she let him play at being her knight in shining armour?

Faye, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Lovers Ransom.

    Lovers Ransom by Faye Hall

    Genre Historical Romantic Suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): M15+

Phoebe Toulouse ran away from her family…from her fiancé…from her life.

Upon arriving in the dusty outback town of Millchester, Queensland, Australia, Phoebe is certain she is finally safe from the bastard who wants to rob her of everything she has…including her life. Being swept up in the strong arms of a stranger, she finds herself tempted with pleasures she couldn’t refuse, and must face the uncertainty surrounding what was to become of her.

This wasn’t a job Raymond MacAllester wanted to do, but he had no choice. If he didn’t take Phoebe back east to Inkerman, he’d be risking his sister’s life. Given that she was Gordon Marriot’s half-sister, he doubted it would be easy to find her, but he would not allow himself to feel guilt for any member of that heartless, corrupt family.
When he meets Phoebe running for her life in the streets of Millchester, he couldn’t believe this beauty was any family of Gordon’s. When he finally took her into custody, he assumed she’d reluctantly agree to go back home. Never could he imagine that she would fight him as if her life depended on it.

When Phoebe learns the true reason for Raymond coming after her, and his relationship with her brother, she is heartbroken and betrayed. Returning to Inkerman with Gordon, she resumes her place in his corrupt company.
Desperate to find her and make her believe she was more than a business transaction, Raymond follows her to Inkerman and reluctantly reinstates himself into a life he hoped never to see again.

Reunited with Phoebe, and desperate to save her from Gordon’s overbearingness, Raymond risks everything to try and get her to safety. Will she let him play at being her knight in shining armour though, or has he left it too late?

Why did you write this book?

I always loved the old westerns where the bounty hunter was sent after the helpless female – only to find her not so helpless – so I thought why not use that idea to put a twist on my own family’s story about their time on Inkerman Downs Station.

What is your favorite genre to read?

    Any historical romance or drama.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

At this moment it would be between John Thornton from North and South and Ross Poldark from the Poldark series.

What are you working on at the moment?

A book that should be out later this year about two strangers who meet on the boat taking them to Australia. Also a new series that focuses on scarred heroines and heroines and their second chances at happiness.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I’m hoping for several releases this year, including one about a governess hard on her luck and forced into a less reputable lifestyle, and another series set in the pubs of Australia around the turn of the century.

Peek behind the cover of A Room in Blake’s Folly by J Arlene Culiner @JArleneCuliner #RLFblog #Western Historical to #Contemporary Romance

Peek behind the cover of A Room in Blake's Folly by J Arlene Culiner @JArleneCuliner/ #RLFblog #Western Historical to Contemporary RomanceBack in 1889, when Blake’s Folly boasted three silver mines, many saloons and brothels, the adventurer, Westley Cranston, fell in love with Sookie Lacey a former prostitute. Their powerful romance was doomed but never forgotten, and the repercussions could be felt 130 years later. The six stories in A Room in Blake’s Folly tell the tale.

J Arlene Culiner, I’m happy to host you on Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Tell us about your book.

A Room in Blake’s Folly by J Arlene Culiner

Genre Historical to Contemporary Western Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): sensual

In one hundred and fifty years, Blake’s Folly, a silver boomtown notorious for its brothels, scarlet ladies, silver barons, speakeasies, and divorce ranches, has become a semi-ghost town. Although the old Mizpah Saloon is still in business, its upper floor is sheathed in dust. But in a room at a long corridor’s end, an adventurer, a beautiful dance girl, and a rejected wife were once caught in a love triangle, and their secret has touched three generations.

    Tell Us About Your Cover

What was your reaction when you first saw this cover?

    I loved it!

How did you choose the artist?

Jennifer Greeff was the cover artist for one of my previous books, The Turkish Affair, and I think her design is wonderful. There’s the suggestion of hot sun and a bleached-out landscape—and those were perfect for a mystery set on an archaeological site in Turkey. For A Room in Blake’s Folly, a Western that begins in 1889, and ends in 2022, I wanted to see if she could evoke the past, desolation, and deep secrets.

What was it like to work with this artist?

A pleasure! So much so, that she has also done the covers for the two other books in this Blake’s Folly Romance trilogy that will be released this spring: All About Charming Alice and Desert Rose.

What do you like best about your cover?

The colors, the sense of loss, of a forgotten past mixed with the hint of green hope just outside the window. A Room in Blake’s Folly begins with a love story that goes wrong, but it still has the power to influence people one hundred and thirty years later.

A good cover conveys the genre at a glance. What are the genre clues on this cover?

There is an abandoned room, a window with torn curtains, and these both suggest a forgotten history and deep secrets. Such things belong to the past, to a historical novel, but we are seeing it now, after all the years have passed, thus it sets the story very much in the present.

What emotions do you hope your cover communicates?

Loss, secrets, and the desire to know more.

If your publisher chose your cover, how much say did you have in choosing your cover?

My publisher, The Wild Rose Press, presented me with another cover. It was a very nice cover, however, it really was too contemporary for this story (there was modern architecture in one corner and the suggestion of industry.) When I pointed out that most of the story takes place long before such things existed, my publisher immediately changed the cover, and I ended up with this one, which I love.

Does your publisher use a form to gather information regarding your preferences?

Yes, absolutely! How else could they get it so right?
