    No One on Earth @JenniferTLoring #RLFblog #scifiromance #SFR

Welcome Jennifer Loring author of No One on Earth, a new m/m
    sci-fi romance.
    Why did you write
    this book?
After Glows Publishing had put out a call for m/m sci-fi
romance novellas to be collected into a holiday-themed anthology. The concept
interested me, so I experimented with a couple of different story ideas, all
involving Native American folklore, before settling on the legend of the
Handsome Fellow. I grew up on a reservation, but this was my first time writing
an indigenous character. I don’t think it will be my last. J Anyway,
the novella first appeared in Starstruck Holidays this past Christmas and is
    now releasing on its own.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
It will probably always be horror. I also love non-fiction.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Two are characters I’ve loved since I was a
teenager—Irrylath from The Darkangel Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce and Zach
from Poppy Z. Brite’s Drawing Blood. I also adore Constantine from Robin
    McKinley’s Sunshine.
    What are you working
    on at the moment?
A Gothic/paranormal romance novella for After Glows,
concepts for a narrative game, and a lot of short fiction.
    What books will we see
    from you in coming months?
March will bring my novella Prison Made of Mirrors, a
retelling of Snow White, from Strange Fictions Press. The final book of The
Firebird Trilogy (The Pieces of Us) releases from Limitless Publishing in April,
and the first Erotikós anthology—containing two of my erotic horror short
stories—from DarkFuse. In May, I’ll be in a contemporary romance anthology that
    I can’t talk about yet.
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.
    Genre: m/m sci-fi romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Jon, a psychic since childhood, has never felt at home in
the world, even less so after his lover died on Winter Solstice a year ago.
Since his abilities failed him when he needed them most, he turns to alcohol
and rejects his family’s assertion that he is a Star Child—an alien/human
hybrid. When Jon’s sister suggests he should look into the legend of Handsome
Fellow, Jon decides that if he cannot find happiness himself, he will bring it
    to others.
Erukkass’ people, a species of interdimensional aliens, have
been observing Earth and interacting with humans for so many centuries that
some Native American tribes believe their ancestors originated from the stars.
After his lover passed away in what appears to be a medical accident, he
accepts a scientific mission… but not for the reasons his government expects. He
has located his beloved on another timeline, in another universe—ours—and he
    will not leave without him.
Jon returns home from work one evening to find a gift of his
own—a strange young man waiting for him. Erukkass unveils one stunning
revelation after another, including the truth behind his lover’s death and the
nature of time itself. Can he and Jon forge a future together, or will two
timelines that have always intersected, no matter when or where, finally be
    forced to diverge?

    Changing a Life @LloydAMeeker #Cancer #Pinktober

Author Lloyd Meeker is helping Romance Lives Forever Blog
    celebrate Cancer Awareness Week 2016.

I was twenty-three when cancer first changed my life. My
childhood friend Michael died of testicular cancer, which metastasized to his
lower back and spine. He had one of those warm, lyric tenor voices that
conquered a room in the first measures of a song. He loved to sing country and
western, and I couldn’t stand it, but I listened, mesmerized, every time he
sang. We’d been friends since we were seven.
For a long time cancer was a disease that visited others.
Then in 2003, I was diagnosed — stomach and bladder. I’m one of the lucky
ones. I’ve been cancer-free since 2004. But in the twelve years since that
time, I’ve lost family and friends to the disease. A friend of mine was
diagnosed last month, and it’s been a privilege to sit with him, help him stay
focused on next steps, honoring his fear while reminding him that it’s not an
automatic death sentence, having him over for dinner or just to hang out if he
    doesn’t want to be alone.
In writing terms, having cancer is a kind of hero’s journey.
Regardless of outcome, I’m convinced that being forced to face fear, pain and
hopelessness, to find inner strength, to learn to rely on trustworthy allies,
and to celebrate the triumph of finding the gold that lies in the darkness of
our frailty makes us stronger, better people. Regardless of outcome.
The hero’s journey is never a journey chosen by the hero.
She or he is forced to undertake it by events and powers beyond her/his
control. But as hellish as the journey may be, there are gifts. Hard won,
perhaps, but powerful. I received two gifts, that have stayed with me since my
    first hospital stay.
Cancer made me get serious about writing, which I’d always
planned to do “one day”. I’m about to submit the manuscript for my
sixth novel, my ninth or tenth title overall. I’ve learned so much about myself
through writing, and I’ve embraced a craft I can pour myself into, working
    constantly to get better.
Cancer also taught me how beautiful my mortality is, how
sacred it is to be fragile, and loving, and loved. It showed me what matters
most in my life, and I’ll be grateful forever for being led to that discovery.

    Lysistrata Cove a new #gayromance by @DenaWrites #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

Captain Dena Hankins (denahankins.net) writes aboard her boat, preferably in a quiet anchorage. Previously a sex educator, she writes erotica and romances spanning the queer alphabet including three novels—Lysistrata Cove, Heart of the Liliko‘i, and Blue Water Dreams—with queer and trans leads.

    Interview with Dena Hankins

Why did you write this book?
Heart of the Liliko‘i was a heavy book for me—heavy to think through, research, and write. My guy, James, and I were having coffee one morning and he asked what I’d be writing next. My answer was “Something fun!”
Since we were at anchor in Somes Harbor—a gorgeous, protected spot in Maine’s Acadia National Park—it was natural to go with a sailing story. Pirates showed up soon after, and by the time the coffee pot was empty, the story was roughed out and I knew I’d enjoy writing it.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I love romance books, whether the leads are straight or queer, cisgender or trans. In my favorite romances, the characters find strengths they didn’t know they had or learn that they can do more together than they ever could apart.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Choosing between my fictional friends and lovers, parents and children, enemies and frenemies? What a struggle!
I’m going to go with one of the leads of the book I just finished: Kellen Ryan in Just Enough Light by AJ Quinn. She’s a bad-ass and still manages to open up to love.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
It’s about a bank robbery and the most unusual getaway you’ll ever read about! I’m trying to make Crime of Conscience an acknowledged genre.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Jack Azevedo captains his charter sailboat in the Caribbean. Life can’t get any better, especially once he discovers a mysterious uncharted island with a sugar-sand cove for his passengers to enjoy and an intriguing, if angry, inhabitant.
Superstar Eve La Sirena has an illicit plan to restore creative freedom to musicians worldwide…if she can keep an ocean between her public and her secrets. Jack’s arrival exposes her island retreat and jeopardizes years of work, but his sweet generosity whets her cruel appetites.
As a transmasculine gender explorer and BDSM bottom, Jack’s used to flouting convention, not the law. When Eve’s clandestine project draws three kinds of cops, everything he has is endangered. Will the maelstrom of emotion strip the civilized veneer from his piratical heart?
