Short Circuit Time: SciFi Time-travel Diane Saxon @Diane_Saxon #RLFblog #SFR

    Short Circuit Time
    by Diane Saxon
This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces
    the story.

    About the Author

Diane Saxon lives in the Shropshire countryside with her tall,
dark, handsome husband, two gorgeous daughters, a Dalmatian, one-eyed kitten, ginger
cat, four chickens and a new black Labrador puppy called Beau, whose name has been
borrowed for her hero in For Heaven’s Cakes.
After working for years in a demanding job, on-call and travelling
great distances, Diane gave it all up when her husband said “follow that dream”.
Having been hidden all too long, her characters have burst forth
demanding plot lines of their own and she’s found the more she lets them, the more
    they’re inclined to run wild.

    Interview with Diane Saxon

    Why did you write this
    book?
Because I was goaded into it by two other wonderful authors.
Allyson Lindt and Eva Lefoy. You see, we all originally wrote different genres,
mine is normally contemporary with a cowboy, so we thought we would spread our wings
and venture into something we hadn’t tried before (except Eva, she was the sci-fi
    guru)
Now, having been brought up watching Star Trek and Dr Who, reading
dystopian novels from a young age (starting with Z for Zachariah when I was about
twelve) I was keen to try my hand.
So this was it, a Challenge. This is how is worked:
    Three authors
    Three months
    One blog post
    each every three weeks
    One challenge
    – A 15,000 word short story
    It never turned
    out that short.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
I’m fickle. Romance definitely. Sub-genres, contemporary, historical,
    fantasy, thrillers.
    Who is your favorite character
from fiction (not including your own)?
I have many, so I would probably answer this question differently
each time. Today, it’s Tim, by Colleen McCullough, one of the most beautifully written
characters. I read the book long before I saw the film and I loved both.
    What are you working on
at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’ve just subbed a paranormal romance so I’m hoping to have news
on that in the coming weeks.
However, I have returned to contemporary writing at the moment
for the second book in my Disarmed and Dangerous Series. I’m pulling it all together
right now with the hopes of subbing it by the end January.
    Please tell us about your
    latest book.
In the year 2086, Zaphira is alone,
the last survivor of biological warfare on Earth. Before he died, her scientist
father promised other survivors would come. Nobody has. So when a horribly mangled
android shows up claiming to be her father’s assistant, Aiden, who has been sent
through time to rescue her, she’s both frightened and astounded.
The last time she’d seen Aiden, she’d
been sixteen, head-over-heels in love with him and had literally thrown herself
at him, leaving her devastated by his rejection and him running for the hills. The
following day, she’d been told of his death.
    Eight years later he’s miraculously
back, this time asking for her help. Without it, he won’t survive. But can she really
put a dead man back together with tweezers?
    For Aiden, everything has changed.
There are no other humans, no government, and time travel has left his new android
body unexpectedly weak and suffering from inexplicable genetic changes in eye and
hair color, brought about by his molecular shake-up. Unbelievably, the scientist
who sent him is dead, and he must rely on the scientist’s daughter to help him.
A woman who he’s not so sure has his best interests at heart.
The last time he’d seen her, Zaphira
had been a sixteen year old with a dangerous crush on him and he’d been rocked by
the turmoil of his own feelings. Now she’s twenty four and literally holds his survival
in her hands. Too bad everything he does and says seems to annoy her.
Trusting her might be his undoing.
But he is left with no choice.
For Zaphira, getting used to the transformation
of old Aiden to android Aiden requires a large mental leap. But when android Aiden
starts to rebuild his human form to a new and improved standard, things start to
    get tricky.

Interview: Diane Saxon author of Flynn’s Kiss @Diane_Saxon #RLFblog #Contemporary

    Flynn’s Kiss

About Flynn’s Kiss – Disarmed and Dangerous Book 1

    Genre Contemporary Romance
    Author Name Diane Saxon
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

    Interview with Diane Saxon

Why did you write this book?
Long before I had any idea I was going to become an author I
had a scene in my head and my hero was Flynn. It was such a vivid picture in my
mind I felt compelled to write it down.
I started writing books, became published, then last year we
moved house and this two page scene was at the bottom of a drawer in my bedside
table and I read it through and had to write the story. The scene is virtually unchanged
and Flynn is just as much a bad boy as I first imagined him.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Romance. Sub-genres dependent on mood. But I love reading, I
read vast amounts and always have. I change my mind on a daily basis as to who is
my favourite author, my favourite genre. So, here are a few:
    Suspense/thriller
    Paranormal
    Humour
    Historical
    What is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own characters)?
Well, again, I think this is transient for me dependent on my
mood. One that always sticks in my mind is Tim by Colleen McCullough. I read the
book and that character stuck with me. When I saw the film, it was very different,
but the character was still hauntingly beautiful.
    Do you enjoy films and/or
TV shows? Which are your favorites?
I’m not big on TV, but I love films. Good old fashioned romances
with guts. Dirty Dancing, Officer and a Gentleman and who doesn’t love Ghost. Oh,
but please don’t give me unexpected tearjerker ending. Really. There is nothing
worse than feeling that I’ve totally wasted my time watching a film where the hero/heroine
drops dead in the last few frames. And believe me, there are more of those out there
than you realize. No! Don’t do it to me.
    What are you working on
at the moment, and what are we likely to see from you in the coming months?
Well, wow. My head is full and my fingers have been flying. So
    here we go.
Her Captured Groom – Historical romance. Written at Nanowrimo
in November and fully finished. Book 1 in a series of three.
Hawk’s Lady – Historical romance, Book 2. 45k words written so
far – should end at around 60k
    Being Banshee – 48k into a 60k book – paranormal romance (sssshhh
    – that’s all I’m saying until it’s critiqued) Will be finished by mid April.
Now, I don’t normally write two books at a time, but both were
    clamouring for attention.
I have two more in mind for the paranormal series
    Barbara’s Sin – Book 2 Disarmed & Dangerous – skeleton plan
    – Will be finished by beginning of June.

    Character Interview with Bailey

    Tell us about yourself.
    Oh, I’m a natural born
disaster. I swear I must have one of those cute little daemons on my shoulder and
if something bad can happen, that little critter will make sure it does.
    Tell us about Sebastian
    Why, I’ve loved that
man forever. He’s hot, and I do mean really hot. He hasn’t got an ounce of flesh
that doesn’t flex and ripple with hard muscle. The way he sits astride a stallion,
well, phew, I just can’t take my eyes off him – or my hands, or my … well, never
    you mind.
What do you think is your strongest point?
    My determination and
    persistence.
What would Sebastian say is your strongest point?
Well, I think he might say it’s my ability to stay seated – on
    a rodeo pony of course.
What would Sebastian say is your biggest weakness?
    Him.
What was it like where you grew up?
I grew up on a ranch.
From the moment I could walk, I was put on the back of a pony. I loved it. I really
missed it when I moved to New York.
It was never the same. Can’t disappear into the wild blue yonder whenever you like.
What do you wish was different about your life?
    I wish I wasn’t such a disaster attraction. I’ll tell you what,
you would not be wise to get on a flight with me. Nu uh.
What do you wish I had asked you? Please ask and answer it
    now.
    I wish you’d asked me
about the little old lady – perhaps you want to know her name? Well I can tell you
now, because we’ve become such good pals. Lady Felicity Shadwell. She’s lovely really,
but I do have a little problem with her dead fox.
