Despite her attempts to ignore him, Summer is drawn to Devlin. His magic signature is strong, but he’s no warlock. Will Valentine’s Day magic find them a future together?

I took a yoga instructor position in Colorado Springs to escape the drama in my life, the last thing I need is complications with Devlin Sawyer, a ruggedly handsome retired Navy SEAL. But when I enroll in a women’s weapons class at Devlin’s state of the art gun club, that is exactly what I encounter. With my guard dog, Piper, I navigate the friggin perilous waters of trust, friendship, and learning to ski. Should I give love a second chance?

Who is the significant other in your life?

Devlin Sawyer, a retired Navy SEAL with a fantastic secret.

If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.

    What is your birth order?

    I’m a twin, first born.

Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.

Magic, you can do anything with it.

Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.

Pizza with thin crispy crust and lots of sauce and cheese.

Tell us about your best friend.

I don’t really have a best friend. I have always kept to myself to keep my talents from being discovered. But one of my employees, Josie is a close friend. She’s impetuous, fun-loving and dependable. She is estranged from her family as I am, so it makes us understand each other.

What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?

Ireland. I’ve love to explore all the ancient castles. And Australia. I love to visit the Australia Zoo.

Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?

Martha’s Vineyard. To many bad memories.

Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?

Devlin’s dad. I’ve met his sister, she’s a hoot, but a polar opposite to him. I’d like to see which of his children are like him.

Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?

My brother. Together we’ve destroyed our family.

If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?

I’d go back to the day I torched my brother’s vampire girlfriend and shattered our family. See if it could have been handled differently.

    About Tena Stetler

What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?

Keeping it under 20,000 words. It was a special series put out by my publishing house The Wild Rose for Valentine’s Day 2016, entitled Candy Heart Romances. Required word count was under 20,000. I barely made it a 19,999. LOL

Why did you choose this character for the interview today?

She is a feisty character. After I finished writing the book, she had more to say and insisted that I write a sequel. Charm Me Again was released December 2019.

When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?

That she had a twin brother. She had to torch her brother’s vampire girlfriend to save his life.

Are any sequels planned for this book?

Yep. Summer insisted and Charm Me Again was released December 9, 2019.

What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?

    Sci-Fy time travel

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

I was a radio DJ for two years.

Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?

It’s a short fun flirty paranormal romance with a happy ever after ending. Something I think we need more of these days.

Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?

I hope my books act as a stress reliever while you are whisked away from your ordinary world into a romantic fantasy adventure for a few hours. Thank you so much for buying my books. Psssst… Charm Me is on sale for only 99 cents for a limited time!

Bucket list of Lily Pearl Evans from Secrets in the Sand #RLFblog #romanticsuspense Let’s meet Lily Pearl Evans from Secrets in the Sand, a romantic suspense by Alana Lorens. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Secrets in the Sand by Alana Lorens

    Genre Romantic suspense

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

After a run of bad relationships, Lily Pearl Evans has finally become an independent woman. In the New Mexico desert town of Chaparral, she works for herself, sets her own rules, and is determined no man will hold her back again.
Gene Nicholas worked for more than a decade to achieve his dream to be a doctor. Wanting to share his gifts with those less fortunate, he leaves south Florida to volunteer for Doctors Without Borders in Mexico.
When Gene provokes a showdown with the local Mexican drug cartel, he becomes a man with a price on his head. On the run, he ends up on Lily’s doorstep–a mystery man forced to conceal his past to protect them both. With the cartel’s dangerous web drawing tight around them, can Lily and Gene survive a drug lord’s revenge?

When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”

    Age: 30-something (a lady doesn’t tell)

    Gender: female

    Birthplace: Indiana

    Profession: whorehouse madam

    Ethnicity: Caucasian

Please provide a physical description of yourself.

Let’s say I’m a well-preserved redhead, eyes so dark blue they’re nearly violet. I like to dress in soft, comfortable clothes, but they have to be a little sexy. After all, I run a bordello in New Mexico, just north of the border.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I didn’t start out to be a madam. My aunt Candy let me visit when I was a teenager, and I always loved her big old house outside of Chaparral. When she died fifteen years ago, she passed it on to me, and I gathered up a group of women I knew were having trouble in their own lives to move in here. Now we each contribute a share to making the place successful. Some work with clients—not me. I provide the place and the management. I’m independent, and don’t need anyone. That’s the way I want to live.

Who is the significant other in your life?

I had a long, sad relationship with Lonnie Berman. Fortunately, he was a long distance trucker, so we didn’t spend that much time together. He taught me not to trust men much. That’s why dealing with them as a business transaction is just fine with me. Until this stranger showed up on my doorstep in the middle of the night, Nick Richards. There’s a lot more to him than appeared on the surface, as I came to find out. He could be a danger—but my heart doesn’t say so.

    Bucket List

If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.

    What is your birth order?

Actually, I don’t really know. My real mother went off on some personal kick when I was two and left me with the Evans family next door. She was gone for months. When she came back, they wanted to keep me, and she just signed the papers. Nearly broke my heart when my adopted family told me the truth.

Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.

Books. Definitely books. I was always wanting to live some other life. Never expected to end up in this one, for sure.

Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.

I love a great salsa. We have a grill out back where we roast our own peppers, poblano, chipotle and more. Just the right amount of chopped garlic, onion, lime, cilantro and the freshest tomatoes we can find. Oh, heaven—it’s to die for.

Tell us about your best friend.

Esther works with me at the house, managing the kitchen and the backstairs. She’s like a sister, always nagging me about my decisions. She means well. But she knows I’d never let anything happen to her, or any of the other young women who’ve thrown their fates in with mine.

What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?

So many places, and I doubt I’ll ever see any of them! When you run a business, it’s hard to take time off. But if I had to choose…I’d say Paris, and the back country of Australia. Ha! Romantic dreams, right? But living in the desert has given me an appreciation of the wild lands, and I’d just love to see a kangaroo!

Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?

The hospital. I hate hospitals. I’ve had really bad migraines since I was about 14, and sometimes it’s necessary to hit the ER. But I hold off until I can’t avoid it. Too many needles and bright lights and people who don’t really care about you.

Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?

My ex, Lonnie. He drops in every so often, trying to spark me up. I wish he’d just take no for an answer and take off for good.

If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?

Huh. I don’t know. I think maybe I’d like to go back and ask my birth mother why she left me. Maybe I’d feel less insecure about everything in my life.

    About Alana Lorens

Alana Lorens always dreamed of being able to handle the drama and intrigue in everyday life. She lives as a post-modern hippie in Asheville, North Carolina, a single mother of her last child of seven, a young adult daughter on the autism spectrum, finding that every day feels a lot like first contact with a new species.

What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?

These two characters actually came from a science fiction role playing game that my former husband and I used to play on the Internet. We both loved them very much, and I wanted to preserve them in a way that others could share them. At the time, I wasn’t writing sci-fi, so I had to find a way that I could recreate their story in the modern world, in America. Lily Pearl is still a madam, and Gene is still a doctor, but the dangers that face them both are quite different from ray guns and hostile aliens. I’m quite pleased with the transformation!

What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?

I have jumped into most of them, I think. I write romance and suspense as Alana Lorens, and fantasy and science fiction for adult and young adult as Lyndi Alexander. I don’t focus on one genre—I write the stories that come to me, then figure out where they fit in the literary world.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

When I was a newspaper reporter in south Florida back in the 80s, I got to fly the F-16 flight simulator at Homestead Air Force Base. Totally destroyed a $7 million dollar plane in about five minutes!

Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?

I prefer to write story over sex. While my characters have normal relationships (well, in this book there are some kinks off camera, because of the nature of the beast), I try to write the best suspense/plot I can. When I’m reading a story, if the plot doesn’t hold together, it doesn’t matter how much sexytimes there are, I just can’t keep reading. That being said, I believe readers will be satisfied with what intimate scenes they receive.

Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?

I appreciate everyone who reads my stories—that’s why I create them! I hope you enjoy these characters as much as I do.

Once I attended high school I met the love of my life Richie Raggalio and we’ve been together since. Yes, we have had our ups and down, but through it all we stayed through to one another. One of my flaws is that I always doubt my relationship with Richie. I never felt that I was on the same level as him, with him coming from a stable loving family. What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?
I’ve been all over the country with Richie but the one place I’d love to visit is Hawaii where I can just lay in the sun and relax. I’d also love top go to Switzerland during the winter. I always wanted to learn how to ski and I heard they have an awesome beginners path.

    Questions for the Author

What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?
Besides finding time to write, I’d say it was keeping up with my characters. At times they took over, so I had to make sure I kept them in line.
Why did you choose this character for the interview today?
I choose Francine because she had a lot thrown at her and I admire how she put her family and friends before her own health.
When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
Francine is a strong character and at times her whining and mushiness got on my nerves. Come on-we know how much she loves her husband.
Are any sequels planned for this book?
No. This is the 3rd book in the Seaside Boulevard Series.
What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
I’d like to write a historical and/or time travel.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
I hate sitting outside and I can’t write in my pajamas.
Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
This book is intense, dealing with real life situations that I feel the reader can relate to. Each book in the series is a stand alone.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?
I’d like to thank my readers for their support. I’m hoping to get the first book in my new series out by the fall.

Let’s meet Six from Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire, a science fiction with romantic elements by Kayelle Allen.

Bringer of Chaos: Forged in Fire by Kayelle Allen

Genre science fiction with romantic elements
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
When the immortal Pietas is marooned on a barren world with no food and few survival tools, he knows it could be worse. He could be alone. But that’s the problem. He’s not.
Half a million of his people sleep in cryostasis, trapped inside their pods and it’s up to Pietas to free them. He can’t release one at a time. It’s all or nothing. He’s facing over five hundred thousand hungry, thirsty, homeless immortals who will call on him for rescue and he has no way to answer.
It’s not all bad. The beautiful telepathic warrior he’s loved for lifetimes is at his side. He’s bonded with a sentient panther. He hates humans but the one dumped on this planet with him has become a trusted friend.
Before Pietas can build shelter, figure out how to grow food, or set up a government, he must take back command from a ruthless enemy he’s fought for centuries. His brutal, merciless father.
Immortals may heal, but a wound of the heart lasts forever…

    Bucket List

When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”

    Age: 38
    Gender: male
    Birthplace: Earth
    Profession: soldier
    Ethnicity: Hispanic
Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Quasi-human (Ghost Corps)
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I’m about six feet tall, brown eyes, brown hair, brown skin. I tend to fade into the background and not be noticed. I’m not so ugly I can’t get a date on payday, but I’m average enough not to stand out.
Please tell us a little about yourself.
I was a soldier, a grunt who pushed his way up. Got noticed and inducted into special ops. I speak multiple languages and I’m good with knives and a bow and arrow. I have a good aim with most any weapon.
Who is the significant other in your life?
I don’t have anyone right now. Mainly because I’m the only human (or almost human) on my planet. The Ultras around me don’t like humans that much. Besides, I’ll die, eventually. None of them will.
If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.
    What is your birth order?
One and only. When God made me, he threw away the mold. He knew trouble when he saw it.
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
I played ball with the neighbor kids. Not really a toy-kinda person. But I did own a soccer ball and I took good care of it.
Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.
Apple fritters. Fresh chopped apples dipped in brown sugar and mixed into batter, then fried. Served hot. Great with coffee.
Tell us about your best friend.
I call him Pi (as in 3.14), but his name is Pietas. It’s pronounced pee-ah-toss, as he’s fond of reminding me. I eventually discovered why he hated the nickname and told him I’d stop, but he insisted I keep it. Seems his father called him that when he made mistakes. The nicest thing I can say about his pop is that the guy is a bully. Tried to kill me the moment he laid eyes on me. Anyway, Pi says when his dad hears me call him that it shows the man he has no hold over him. Pi is closer to me than a brother. When I was his worst enemy and hated him, he taught me the meaning of honor. If you wanted a picture for the word “noble” in the dictionary, you could use him.
What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?
I’d like to go fishing in a lake up in the mountains where the air is clean and cold and the fish like to bite. And then I’d go to the oceanside and lay on a hot sandy beach drinking a nice cold beer.
Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?
Enderium Six. What a nightmare that was. Although that is where I met Pi.
Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?
A fast woman who likes slow guys.
Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?
Pietas’s father. The man makes me crazy. The urge to strangle him is too strong for me to resist for long, so I avoid him.
If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?
I’d go back to Enderium Six and change everything that happened, except the part where I ended up friends with Pi. Although, come to think of it, the nightmare part was what made us friends in the first place. So… I think I’ll stick to my own time, thank you.

    About Kayelle Allen

Kayelle Allen did a tour in the US Navy, where she climbed around airplanes (on the ground, thankfully) fixing black boxes that helped pilots find their way home.
She wrote her first science fiction novel at 18 and to this day, it’s hidden under the bed, where she vows it will remain. Gems from it, however, launched several series in her galaxy-wide universe of stories.
From childhood, Kayelle was the victim of an overactive imagination and inherited the Irish gift of gab from her mother. From her father, she got a healthy respect for mechanical things.
No wonder she writes Science Fiction and Fantasy peopled with misbehaving robots, mythic heroes, role playing immortal gamers, and warriors who purr. She’s been married so long she’s tenured.
What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?
Letting the story unfold and be as surprised as they were with how it turned out. The end had a real twist that even I didn’t see coming.
Why did you choose this character for the interview today?
Six is a blast to write. He’s one of my favorite characters.
When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
That he was jealous of the time Pietas spent with others. He’d been the only person in Pietas’s life for months during their journey. Once they found the people they were searching for, he was so busy he had little time for Six. But he handled it with surprising grace and humor.
Are any sequels planned for this book?
Yes, I’m writing one now, called Watch Your Six, in which Six is the major character.
What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
Time travel. Just don’t have a good paradox in mind yet. Maybe someday.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
That I almost never cook at home. I prefer to either eat out or go with prepared meals. To my kids, Mom’s home-cooked mac and cheese came in a yellow and blue box.
Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
This one is the culmination of years of writing. It’s my best so far, and it’s both funny and heartbreaking. If you like buddy movies, you’ll like the Bringer of Chaos series altogether.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?
Please keep in touch. I’d love to know what you think of my characters and books.

Bucket list of Sarah Birch from A Little Elfy in Big Trouble @BarbCaffrey #RLFblog #YA #FantasyLet’s meet Sarah Birch from A Little Elfy in Big Trouble, a young adult urban fantasy/romance by Barb Caffrey. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your story.

A Little Elfy in Big Trouble

    Genre: Young Adult urban fantasy/romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
Young Bruno the Elfy and Sarah, his mostly-human teenage girlfriend, are in deep trouble. Bruno’s Elfy mentor Roberto the Wise is about to be sacrificed by a Dark Elf, and Sarah’s parents have decided to help the Elf rather than the Elfy. Things look bleak and are getting worse by the minute, but Bruno and Sarah have a number of allies — human, Elfy, and ghosts — that the Dark Elf can’t possibly expect. Can young love, desperation, and great unexpected power win out despite it all?
When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”
    Age: Seventeen, nearly eighteen
    Gender: Female
    Birthplace: Davis, California
    Profession: Student
    Ethnicity: Anglo (apparently)
Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): human with some Elfy heritage
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I’m about four feet tall, with long brown wavy hair and deep brown eyes. My fiancé, Bruno, says I meet his expectation of classic beauty, but I don’t see myself as anything special. (Glad he does, though.)
Please tell us a little about yourself.
Until about a week ago, I thought I was only ten years old. My parents lied to me my entire life. I didn’t know I was part-Elfy until I met Bruno by accident, after he’d been captured by my parents. (Long story; look up An Elfy on the Loose for further details.) I knew I was short, and they thought I had a condition akin to Dwarfism, but that wasn’t it at all; my mother, unbeknownst to me, was half-Elfy, part of a race of extremely short Elfs. (Do not call them “Elves,” please, if you value your life. They hate that.)
Anyway, Bruno came into my life, and I figured out a number of things. We found my original birth certificate, proving I’m seventeen, almost eighteen. While I’m still an intelligent person – and I’d better be, as it looks like a GED is in my future considering how my screwed-up parents had enrolled me in a much lower grade than I should’ve been in – I’m probably not a genius. And I have a talent to feel other people’s pain, as well as use magic…none of which I knew a week ago.
Who is the significant other in your life?
Bruno the Elfy, AKA Bruno Johnson, an Elfy from a parallel universe called the Elfy Realm, though he holds an Irish passport. Bruno is a very good guy. He cares about me, and, like me, he thought he was much younger than he actually was. And we met by accident; my parents captured him, because they wanted an Elfy to perform for their friends. (Some friends! But I digress.)
He managed to get away to the Elfy Realm, taking me with him. But then, we somehow were backlashed to Earth, along with his mentor, Roberto. Because my parents can’t seem to tell one Elfy from another – despite my mother’s Elfy heritage – they took Roberto captive while Bruno hid in my bedroom. (Don’t worry. He slept on the floor.)
While trying to aid Roberto a bit (as my parents refused to feed him or get him any medical care), Bruno and I fell in love. He’s only a bit older than I am, and he, too, was lied to his whole life, so we have a lot in common.
I never felt understood before, so this is the most amazing thing in my entire life. And I hope it never ends.
If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.
    What is your birth order?

I’m an only child. (Considering my parents, perhaps it’s just as well. They’d just have screwed someone else up, too.)
Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.
A Slinky. I liked how it moved around. It hinted at so many possibilities, you see…
Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.
I like potato soup. I haven’t figured out how it’s prepared yet, but I do know that I enjoy the potatoes, the onions, the sour cream, and the feeling of fullness I get after I eat it.
Tell us about your best friend.
Aside from Bruno, you mean? (Your intended husband should be your best friend, right?) Well, my friend Mikayla Andrews and I have been tight for three years, ever since she started going to school with me down at St. Betsy’s. She knew she was sixteen, and she thought I was much younger, but she never cared and neither did I. She’s from Jamaica, originally, and her parents are a reverend and a teacher, respectively. She has a lot to live up to!
Of course, now that we know I’m older than she is, it’s a little strange. But she still accepts me, and she likes Bruno a lot. So it’s working out.
What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?
I’d like to go to Paris. It’s the city of love, right? I think Bruno would enjoy the history, and I’d enjoy watching him go into paroxysms of rapture over it. (He does love his history, especially cross-species history.)
Otherwise, I think I’d like to go somewhere a bit closer: Vancouver, British Columbia. I’ve heard that’s an interesting place. We could walk around, look at the flora and fauna, and just be by ourselves for a bit. That sounds really attractive right now.
Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?
God knows, I can’t stand Bruno’s home, the Elfy Realm. (Earth in a parallel universe.) Those people frighten me. They all have magic, and most of ’em waste it. And they all wanted Bruno dead because they felt he had “too much power,” whatever that means.
Anyone who wants Bruno dead is someone I definitely don’t want to know or be around. Because he’s the best and kindest and most decent person I have ever known, by far.
Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?
I’d like to meet Nelson Mandela. (With Bruno’s talent of talking to the dead, I still might be able to do so someday. How’s that for something I never expected?) He was a strong leader, someone who had to deal with many uphill battles, and was imprisoned for quite some time before being freed. I think I understand at least some of what he went through, and would like to know how he withstood all that to win through to his own truth and power. (Besides, he was a great man. Who can’t learn from someone like that?)
Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?
I’m sorry, but I can’t stand President Trump. He seems like he is easily led. The Dark Elfs would have a field day with him, and my hope is that whoever has strong magic that is of the Light will try to stay around him, providing they have strong stomachs of course, to keep the Dark Elfs away so the current President won’t do even more damage than he’s already done.
If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?
I’d like to go fifty years ahead, just so I’d be able to see how many children Bruno and I have had, how we’ve managed to make the Elfy Realm see reason when it comes to Bruno, and just know that we’ve overcome it all. I think that would be cool!

Bucket list of Sarah Birch from A Little Elfy in Big Trouble @BarbCaffrey #RLFblog #YA #Fantasy

    About the Writer

Barb Caffrey is a writer, editor, musician, and composer from Wisconsin. She’s the widow of writer Michael B. Caffrey, and is continuing her work and his, as a way to keep their love alive. Find her at https://elfyverse.wordpress.com for conversations all and sundry, as she loves hearing from readers!
What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?
Writing it wasn’t hard, but revising it was. My husband died during the revision period, and it took almost eight years to find a publisher interested in my work. At that time, An Elfy on the Loose and A Little Elfy in Big Trouble were just one book: Elfy. My publisher, Lida Quillen of Twilight Times Books, said it was more likely people would find my work if the book was split. Which meant more revision, so the second book would feel a bit more like it was supposed to be separate in the first place.
Why did you choose this character for the interview today?
I’ve never done an interview solely from Sarah’s viewpoint. Bruno is the point-of-view character, but Sarah is the person most of the readers I’ve heard from have appreciated the most. (I didn’t expect that.) I thought maybe they’d like hearing more from Sarah, as a “Thank you for reading” sort of thing.
When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
Sarah is incredibly complex. She thinks she’s not, but she truly is. She’s had to hide a great deal of herself until Bruno shows up, and it took a toll. But now that Bruno’s here, and she’s able to be fully herself, she’s gaining self-worth by leaps and bounds.
Are any sequels planned for this book?
Absolutely! I have a sprawling sequel planned called An Elfy Abroad, which is a horrible pun. (Bruno’s the Elfy, Sarah’s the “broad.” Though if you called her one, she’d probably stun you with her magic. And rightfully so.) This book looks like it’ll end up as three separate books as the “Elfy Abroad” trilogy down the line, and it’ll take us to the Troll Realm, the Elfy Realm (again, as much as Sarah hates it), and different parts of the Human Realm (our Earth).
What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
I would like to write a straight romance someday. But so far, I’ve written military SF, milSF/romance, funny fantasy, urban fantasy, romantic fantasy…so far, I haven’t had a story idea that didn’t have some sort of SF or F element to it. And until I do, I just won’t write that straight romance as it would be an utter bore.
What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?
I have two degrees in music, a Bachelor’s and a Master’s. I play the saxophone, clarinet, and oboe, and compose music.
Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
I think most people will enjoy the romance, the humor, the coming of age stuff, and the fact that the story doesn’t take itself too seriously. (I also would like to think that Sarah isn’t the only one who loves Bruno. Though perhaps only Sarah should love him romantically, as that last would just be weird.)
Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?
Thanks for giving a little-known author a try! I hope you’ll enjoy my work.

    Meet “Flipper” – Shore to Please @AnnetteMardis48 #RLFblog #romsuspense

Meet Paul “Flipper” O’Riley from Shore to Please

    About the Book

    Title: Shore to Please
    Genre: Romantic suspense
    Author: Annette Mardis
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Tara Langley thought she’d found the
love of her life, but he betrayed her with another woman. So she buried herself
in her mission: convincing Gulf Shore Aquarium that dolphins and whales belong
in the wild, not in artificial pools.
If Tara had her way, Paul “Flipper”
O’Riley would lose the job he loves. Flipper is the head dolphin trainer, and
the aquarium’s dolphins are his babies. While he’s open to having a real family
one day, the last person he would choose to be his wife and the mother of his
    children would be Tara.
These two should be sworn enemies,
after all. He certainly swears at the sight of her. And his surfer-dude looks
and lover-boy reputation aren’t exactly what Ms. Prim and Tidy had in mind when
    she pictured her ideal man.
But in the age-old way of opposites
attracting, Tara and Flipper find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other.
There’s no possible way a relationship between them could work, right?
As the two try to find common ground
amid all the quicksand, Flipper and his coworkers become the targets of an
increasingly more menacing campaign to force the aquarium to release the
dolphins under its care. Will Gulf Shore Police Detective Joanna Tompkins catch
the culprit before it’s too late?

The Bucket List of Paul “Flipper” O’Riley

    Name: Paul “Flipper” O’Riley
    Age: 36
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Dothan, Alabama
Profession: Head dolphin trainer, Gulf Shore Aquarium
    Welcome to Romance
Lives Forever. Your author introduced you. Now we’d like to get to know you
better. Please tell us about yourself.
I decided as a kid that I wanted to be either a dolphin
trainer or a professional baseball player. I went to college on an athletic
scholarship, but I knew I wasn’t good enough to make it to the Major Leagues. I
got my degree in interdisciplinary studies with an animal behavior
concentration, worked with beluga whales during an internship, and was lucky
enough to land a job in Gulf Shore in a highly competitive field. For some
reason, though, there’s this idea that I’m some kind of beach bum and a real
player with women. I guess that’s partly my fault because dolphin trainers are
like rock stars in the Florida beach town I live in, and I get plenty of
attention from ladies who say they like the way I fill out my wet suit. But I
got my heart broken a while back and don’t go out on as many dates as people
think. Right now, I’ve got my eye on a woman who’s wrong for me in so many
ways. Still, I can’t stop thinking about her and wishing we could find a way to
    make it work.
    What are two places
you would like to visit before you die, and why?
I’d like to go to one of those remote lodges along the
Hudson Bay coast in Canada to see polar bears and beluga whales in the wild. And
maybe the Northern Lights, too. Seeing marine animals in their natural habitats
is always an awe-inspiring experience for me. I’d also love to go on a Danube
River cruise in Europe. There’s one trip that includes tulips field and
windmills in Holland, castles in Germany and vineyards in Austria. I think that
would be very romantic and something Tara would love. Can you believe I’m
fantasizing about seeing those sights with her?
    Where is a place you
would never like to return, and why?
I’d have to say St. Augustine, Florida, the first six months
after my family moved there. I was 12 years old, and it was really tough being
the new kid. I hadn’t grown into my body yet and was very gangly and awkward.
Plus, my classmates made fun of the way I talked, so I forced myself to speak
without an accent until it became second nature. My parents were hurt at first
because they assumed I was ashamed of my roots. I think they finally understood
after my sister stopped using certain expressions she thought made her sound
    too redneck.
    Who is someone you
would like to meet, and why?
My paternal grandfather, who died when I was a baby. I wish
I’d gotten to know him. He was awarded a Purple Heart after being wounded
during World War II. My parents said he doted on all his grandchildren and that
he was a big baseball fan. It would’ve been fun to sit and watch games with
    him.
    Who is someone you
would like to avoid, and why?
    Steven Christianson, Tara’s ex-boyfriend. I’d be compelled
to punch him in the face for treating her so badly. But I guess if he hadn’t
cheated on her, they might still be together, so maybe I should thank him for
    being such a tool.
    If you could time
travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?
I’d go back to the 1920s to New York to watch Babe Ruth
play. Seeing him knock one out at the original Yankee Stadium would be a
    baseball fan’s dream come true.
    What is your birth
    order?
    I’m the youngest of two.
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
My parents bought me one of those wiffle ball/plastic bat
combos, and my dad spent hours pitching to me. Those are some of my fondest
    memories from childhood.
    Describe your
favorite food and how it’s prepared.
I love filet mignon cooked medium well on the grill and
topped with mushrooms sautéed in melted butter with a touch of garlic, plus sea
salt and cracked black pepper. Pair that with a baked potato with butter, sour
cream, cheese and crumbled bacon. Man, my stomach is rumbling just thinking
    about it.
    Tell us about your
    best friend.
Evan Sanders is the chief photographer/videographer at Gulf
Shore Aquarium. We’ve spent a lot of time together playing darts, drinking beer
and eating wings at Bikini Barb’s Bar & Grill, and we’re also on the same
softball team. He’s just a good guy who’s easy to be around. I narrated a
documentary he did on Trident, a baby dolphin the aquarium rescued, and Evan’s insanely
talented. He’s engaged now to Dani Davidson, and I couldn’t be happier that
he’s found the love of his life. I’ll be honored to be the best man at his
    wedding.

    Author Bio

As a girl, Annette dreamed of
being an astronaut, but she stank at science and math and became motion
sick riding the bus home from school. So she went with her second
choice—newspaper journalist—and stuck with it for more than three decades.
After years of ignoring well-meaning people who said, “You should write a book,”
she finally did. And then she wrote a few more. When she’s not working,
Annette usually has her nose in someone else’s novel or her gaze
glued to sports on TV. She has three totally spoiled pets, enjoys being
the designated sightseer on her husband’s Harley, and volunteers at Clearwater
Marine Aquarium, home of diva dolphins Winter and Hope from the Dolphin Tale films.
