Welcome Karen Cino author of A Different Side of Perfect (Book 2 – Seaside Boulevard Series), a new Contemporary Romance.Why did you write this book?
I love writing series. This is the second book which deals with breast cancer, an interracial relationship and an obsessive relationship. I feel that these topics are important in real life and I felt they needed to be explored in more details.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I read women’s fiction, contemporary romance and cozy mysteries. But don’t be surprised if you see me reading a Stephen King novel.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I like Stephanie Plum. She is down to earth, calls a spade a spade and can’t choose between two men. I love her spunk and she always keeps me engaged in her adventures.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on two books. 5 Beach Road which explores the lives of three women down at the Jersey Shore and Book 3 in the Camp Mirage Series (cozy mystery).
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Sometime in January, I’ll be releasing the third book in the Seaside Boulevard Series.

Karen Cino has been writing since she was fourteen years old. She started her career by writing poetry, short stories and writing articles for her high school newspaper. After reading Jackie Collin’s Lovers and Gamblers and Jacqueline Susann’s, Valley of the Dolls, Karen found her niche. She wanted to write women’s fiction and wrote her first book during the summer before she started college. Her daily walks down at the boardwalk are what gets her muse going. It clears her mind and helps her find realistic plot ideas and the characters boosting up her muse. Karen loves writing about local places that people can relate to. The late Paul Zindel’s books took place in Staten Island and reading them, especially My Darling My Hamburger, still brings back many memories for her.
Karen loves the summer, loves the beach. Her previous books were written and take place in various places across Staten Island. Karen relocated to Barnegat, New Jersey in 2015. She traded in the Staten Island Boardwalk for the shoreline in Long Beach Island. Her Camp Mirage Series takes place in Barnegat, NJ.
Karen is a member of Romance Writers of America, Women’s Fiction Writing Association and Liberty States Fiction Writers. She is also busy writing newsletters and newspaper articles for the 55 and over community she resides at.
Karen has two adult children, Michael Giordano who’s a singer, songwriter and producer and Nicole Giordano who works in Retail Management and is also a photographer. In 2014 Karen married John Gatti. Her husband is an actor, teacher and attorney.

Prince of Fools is the third installment in my four book “House of Terriot” dark shapeshifter series. The Terriot clan was initially introduced as villains in my “By Moonlight” shapeshifter series, their warrior family ruled by the brutal iron-fist of Bram the Beast until overthrown by rowdy, rock-n-roll brawler son Cale in a move that divided the House and its twelve princes. The deliciously dark and dangerous brothers caught my creative attention, seducing me into giving them their own spin-off series and I’m totally loving each connected yet capable of standing alone book.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I read anything and everything but my go-to has a touch of suspense and a hint of the paranormal. Dean Koontz is my all-time favorite author.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
That would be a favorite couple, Eve Dallas and Rourke from J. D. Robb’s “In Death” series. Their relationship is constantly evolving and never ceases to fascinate. They inspired me to write my “By Moonlight” series with a continuing hero and heroine, something not unusual in Urban Fantasy but rarely done in Romance.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m getting ready to start Prince of Dreams, the fourth and final “House of Terriot” book which features the youngest prince, who prefers to use brains over brawn in the fight for his family’s survival until forced to decide between their path and his love for their enemy’s daughter. The heroine is a fortune teller whose gift is from a source she doesn’t understand and I’m loving researching the Tarot and other divination arts.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Prince of Dreams should debut in the spring of 2018 along with the reissue through Tell-Tale Publishing of my very first novel, Sweet Tempest, a historical regency written as Lauren Giddings. I’m planning at least one more book with Max and Charlotte, the fan favorite couple from my “By Moonlight” series as well as bringing back my “Bass Family of Texas” western historicals written as Dana Ransom. Lots of exciting and varied reading to watch for!

I enjoy creating new worlds. This story began when I envisioned the scene where the exhausted heroine sees the hero’s face under a thin sheet of ice. She will die if he does not save her. Then, I had to imagine life on the “space” station on Jupiter’s moon, Europa, and introduce several alien species.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I prefer to read science fiction and fantasy stories. Adventures combined with a romance are great.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I don’t have a single favorite character, although I prefer a specific type of character. My favorite characters can be illustrated by examples in Andre Norton’s books. Gillan in Year of the Unicorn and Hosteen Storm in the Beast Master stories are loners, despised or abused for their differences. Yet, their special abilities will help them overcome disaster and achieve a better life.
What are you working on at the moment?
Europa is the first book in a planned new series, Taxyon Space. I am writing the second book, which follows a few days after the end of Europa. This series is intended to have adventures on different planets, or rather celestial objects, since Europa is a moon.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
I hope to publish Rishalt, Book 2 of Taxyon Space, early in 2018. Then, I plan to write book 5 in my series, Grand Masters’ Galaxy. Afterward, I’ll poll my readers for their preferred series to extend, or pick an idea from my list.

I moved to a fifty-five and older community and was amazed at how seniors are just as bad as teens. When I heard people talking about cheating on their spouses and the crazy antics they do, I knew I had found plenty of information on writing a new series.

I’m working on women’s fiction contemporary romance that takes place during the summer at the Jersey Shore.
And I’m also working on Book three in my Camp Mirage cozy mystery series where there is a parallel story line between solving the mystery and the main character’s romance with one of the male residents.

I started writing contemporary romance and contemporary romance suspense fifteen years ago, and after multiple rejections, got my first contract for Delayed Justice, released in 2014.
I lives in Basin, Montana, where three feline furballs own me and my husband, and a dog that lives next door named Sara, who thinks she also lives with the Bretes family. I love the mountains that surround my home, I love basket weaving, jewelry making, and just visiting all the folks in the small community we live in.
I currently have seven books published, and a number of other ones in various stages of edits. Right now, I’m working on a new book, called Roadside Love. A murder mystery/romance is a small town in Wyoming. I have two other books that are at the end of their editing days and now at critique partners, the books are Elkhorn In The Moonlight and Rocky River Gold. Both are small town romances.
What’s your favorite down-home family style meal?
Chicken or Turkey, with all the fixings.
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
The River, pizza, or sub sandwiches.
Who is your “book boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?
That hottie is the hero from my own book. Jade’s Redemption.
What are your hobbies?…
I love basket weavimg, and making jewelry.
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
Where ever and what ever information I can get. For example, I’m currently working on a book called Midnight Escape. The hero is a commercial fisherman, off in the Bering Sea (think Deadliest Catch) and the heroine is an RN. I have an RN in my family that I consult with, and for the commercial fisherman, there are a lot of internet links about Alaska and the Bering Sea fishing, plus the interviews with various boat captains from the show Deadliest Catch. I also searched all the Alaskan government websites on food poisoning, statistics, commercial fisherman license requirements, Coast Guard requirements, and so on. Mostly I use the internet sources that can be verified.
