Love Sabre by Melanie Coles @MelColesAuthor #RLFblog #Contemporary #Romance Anthology

Let’s welcome Melanie Coles to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Take it away, Melanie.

Know Your Lingo or How to Speak Aussie by Melanie Coles
When planning a trip to any foreign country, it’s important to have a basic grasp of the local dialect, even if the primary language is English. So, for those of you planning a trip Down Under (and let’s face it, after seeing how we breed ’em down here – ahem, Chris Hemsworth – why wouldn’t you?) I’ve put together this guide comparing some US terms to their Aussie counterparts, to ensure you can mix it with the locals.
    Trunk – Boot
Your suitcases always go in the ‘boot’, unless you are travelling via zoo elephant, which is the only place you’ll find a trunk in Oz.
    Pick-up truck – Ute
Outback boys will almost always get around town in a ‘Ute’, (short for Utility). Trucks are reserved for furniture removers, long-haul transportation or kids’ sandboxes.
    Grill – Barbie
When your Aussie mate invites you around for a barbie, rest assured it’s nothing kinky or weird (no plastic blonde dolls in sight!). Instead, grab your six-pack of beer and head on over to enjoy an outdoor feast, cooked on the barbeque.
    Drugstore – Pharmacy or Chemist
Asking an Aussie where the drugstore is will get you some very odd looks, and telling someone you need to buy drugs might land you in jail, especially if they are an undercover cop. Unless you’re a doctor, ‘drugs’ in Australia refers to illicit ones like cocaine or ice. So, if you need some aspirin for that nagging headache, ask someone to direct you to the nearest pharmacy or chemist. It’s much less risky.
    Bathing suit – togs/budgie smugglers
When you hit the beach at Byron Bay or Bondi, be sure to wear your togs or budgie smugglers. If you’re swimming in a suit, you’ve probably had one-too-many beers at your mate’s wedding.
    Thong – G-string
In Australia, a ‘thong’ refers to one half of a pair of flip-flops. Ladies, for your own comfort, be sure you don’t confuse the two.
    Fanny – backside/butt/arse (ass)
Guys – referring to a woman’s fanny will earn you two tight slaps, as we use ‘fanny’ to describe her…ummm, front bottom. You’ve been warned.
    Root – Barrack
Don’t ever, EVER ask an Aussie who they root for. It’s a slang word for having sex. Here, we barrack for our sports teams.

Melanie has always loved stories. While most kids at school spent their lunchtimes climbing tyre walls or playing kiss-chasey, she could always be found in the library with either her nose in a book, a pen in her hand or her head in the clouds. She wrote countless stories throughout her school life, only to lose her mojo sometime after high school. Thankfully she rediscovered it in the dead of night some twenty years later. Now she juggles writing with family life and her job as an Executive Assistant. A hopeless romantic, she is addicted to chocolate and happy-ever-afters, cowboy stories, and *may* have an obsession with Jane Austen novels.
Melanie lives in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne, Australia with her musician husband, two sports-crazed sons, two guinea pigs, and a ginger cat named Jack.

Earl of Wainthorpe by Collette Cameron @Collette_Author #RLFblog #Historical #Romance

Collette Cameron, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

    Earl of Wainthorpe

    Genre: Historical Regency
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Could you ever love the unrepentant rake who won you in a wager?
He didn’t gamble on losing his heart when he won her at the gaming tables.
Pierce, the Earl of Wainthorpe has finally thwarted his worst enemy. Except he can’t revel in his victory after winning his foe’s ward in a winner-takes-all wager. If Pierce refuses to assume Bianca Salisbury’s guardianship, the fiery-haired beauty with a matching temper may very well find herself sold to the highest bidder.
The shameful secret she guards makes it impossible to love a rogue.
Desperate to escape her blackguard cousin, Bianca Salisbury ventures to London to find a husband or employment. Instead, she’s bartered to a notorious rakehell. She either risks being compromised and accepts The Earl of Wainthorpe’s protection, or flees him and her guardian. But without money and a place to go, she fears she’ll face the same tragic fate as her mother.
Caution: This romance features a sexy, irredeemable scoundrel determined to thumb his nose at the haut ton, a saucy country miss unafraid to speak her mind but terrified of even a hint of scandal, a unlikely aristocratic matchmaker, a trio of busybody sisters you’ll adore, and a very pregnant calico that is convinced humans are only around for her convenience.
For a page-turning Historical Romance novel brimming with Regency England’s rakish dukes and rapscallion lords, buy this passionate adventure sprinkled with suspense and humor. You won’t be able to put it down.
Why did you write this book?
I was invited to participate with eleven other authors in creating a roguish earl to be a member of the Wicked Earls’ Club. It was the perfect opportunity to use an idea I had while writing Brooke: Wagers Gone Awry. That’s another book about an ill-placed wager.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Historical Romance! Big surprise there, right? I especially enjoy Regency, Georgian, Victorian, Highlander, and medieval historicals.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
The Count of Monte Cristo. My, oh, my!
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on the last two books in my Conundrums of the Misses Culpepper series. If all goes well, you’ll see Blaike’s story in February!
What books will we see from you in coming months?
You’ll see Blaike’s and Blaire’s stories (books 4 and 5 of the Misses Culpepper Series) as well as books from my Seductive Scoundrel and Heart of a Scot Series. The last book in my Highland Heather Series, Seductive Surrender, releases in May 2018. Oh, and I have a top-secret project I’m working on too. It’s going to be an insanely busy year!

    Mistletoe by Emily Mims @EmilyMimsAuthor #RLFblog #contemporary #romance

Mistletoe by Emily Mims @EmilyMimsAuthor #RLFblog #contemporary #romanceWelcome Emily Mims, author of Mistletoe, a new contemporary Christmas romance.
Why did you write this book?
I love Christmas stories and enjoy reading them year-round. Tanner and Caitlyn both appeared in earlier installments of the Smoky Blue series and cried out for a story of their own.
What is your favorite genre to read?
    Contemporary romance and romantic suspense
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Eve Dallas, without a doubt! She’s the lead in J.D. Robb’s ‘In Death’ series.
What are you working on at the moment?
I just finished ‘Violet’, the sequel to ‘Mistletoe, and will begin plotting a novella to fit between ‘Violet’ and ‘Amethyst’.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
‘Violet’ will be out sometime in the spring. There will probably be a novella giving Lexi Barstow and Collins Wentworth their long-awaited happily ever after before I write ‘Amethyst’, which was supposed to be the last book in the Smoky Blue series.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Genre Contemporary romance with a Christmas theme
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): spicy
Aspiring songwriter Caitlyn Murphy is tired of sister’s hand-me-downs. From toys and bicycles to men, it seemed like everything in Caitlyn’s life first belonged to her late sister. Roped into doing Christmas for motherless nieces, and entering into a pretend romance with their dangerously attractive father, Caitlyn soon finds herself falling in love with the girls, and the enigmatic Tanner Dyson. She resists the temptation and Tanner’s insistence that they make their pretend relationship real. She wants her own family, not the one her sister had first.
    She Always Wanted
Tanner Dyson doesn’t get why he is so attracted to his overweight, opinionated sister-in-law. She wants love and the whole romance thing, emotions that died with his late wife. He wants a woman who is nice to have around, and he can’t understand why that isn’t that enough for Caitlyn. Worried their pretend relationship will wither and die come the new year, Tanner is surprised to find the magic of the holiday season gives them the gift of a new love neither expected, but both need.

Meredith Bond: My Gentleman Thief @merrybond #RLFblog #RegencyRomance

Meredith Bond: My Gentleman Thief @merrybond #RLFblog #RegencyRomanceWelcome Meredith Bond author of My Gentleman Thief, a new Regency Romance.

Why did you write this book?
This is the third (and final) book of the Grace sisters books (numbers 5,6 and 7 of the Merry Men Series). I wrote it because I couldn’t possibly leave a sister unmarried! Thalia Grace is a bold, fun heroine and she deserved a wonderful man to fall in love with.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I go back and forth between Regency romance and paranormal, with a mystery or other piece of literature thrown in for variety.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I love Charley Davidson from Darynda Jones’ Charley Davidson series—she’s so much fun! I also have to admit to being not a little in love with Matthew Clairmont and Diana Bishop from A Discover of Witches by Deborah Harkness.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m doing two things at once (not an easy feat for me!). I’m writing the second novella of the parents of The Merry Men (A Spanish Dilemma is the first novella in the sub-series): Under the Mango Tree (the parents of Julian Huntley from An Exotic Heir – which is free, by the way!). And I’m also beginning a whole new series which right now I’m calling the Ladies Wagering Whist Society. It’s going to be a series of 7 or 8 books, so I’m beginning the planning and plotting of that.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Hopefully not very long from now I’ll publish Under the Mango Tree. After that I’ll get started on writing another parents novella (probably the parents of Sara Whately from A Rake’s Reward). Sadly, I think the first book from the Ladies Wagering Whist Society is going to take me a little bit of time because I need to plot out all of the books—at least roughly—before I start writing the first one (because some of the overlap in time).
Please tell us about your latest book.
    Genre Regency Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
Thalia Grace has a habit of flaunting Regency society—whether it be racing her horse against ungentlemanly earls or standing up to the arrogant lady patronesses of Almack’s. But after a handsome Greek artist comes to visit, she discovers her true calling—to follow in the footsteps of her archaeologist parents.
The talented Yiannis Istoriakis is passionate about Greek antiquities—he would do anything to ensure that they are treated with proper respect. But he never expected to become a thief…much less be so fascinated by the spirited woman he needs to become his accomplice.
As Thalia and Yiannis suffer through London’s social whirl while stealing priceless antiquities, they find that it’s their hearts that are in danger of being stolen.

    Cezanne’s Ghost by Rolynn Anderson @rolynnanderson #RLFblog #suspense

Cezanne's Ghost by Rolynn Anderson @rolynnanderson #RLFblog #suspenseWelcome Rolynn Anderson, author of Cezanne’s Ghost, a new Romantic Suspense.

Why did you write this book?

Cezanne’s Ghost actually helped me launch this story. My husband and I spent a month in an apartment Paul Cezanne (1836-1906) occupied when he lived in Aix-en-Provence, France. The city of Aix is brimming with reminders of the artist, including his workshop, his favorite restaurants, and, of course, displays of his art, everywhere. When I was on the train to Aix, a woman caught my eye, and she became Aline, my heroine in the novel

    Cezanne’s Ghost

Three young American women vanish in Aix-en-Provence, France. Is their tour guide, Leon Beaudet to blame? When the American Consulate collars Leon as a suspect, his only recourse is to clear his name. Danger comes when his new tour group includes Aline Kerig, as beautiful and carefree as the three missing tourists. Leon is fascinated and puzzled by Aline even while he fears for her safety. When she refuses to go back to the States, Leon, the FBI, and the French police must include Aline on a hunt for the lost women. Can Leon guard Aline, find his lost tourists, and save his reputation?
Genre: Romantic Suspense, International mystery, FBI agent, Contemporary
    Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074X7QXGJ/
For a sample of these two characters, I have a free short story (Christmas theme) on my website: https://www.rolynnanderson.com
What is your favorite genre to read?
I enjoy escaping into an intriguing suspense novel, spiked with romance. That’s why I write stories in the genre. But I also enjoy brilliantly-written literary fiction.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Ethan from James Michener’s Winter of Our Discontent. A well-drawn character beset with moral dilemmas; one of Michener’s best.
What are you working on at the moment?
Fire is Nice is set in Sequoia/Kings National Park. The problem is poaching; my Law Enforcement Ranger, Sable Chisholm, is determined to collar the robbers, but she’s suffered an unusual injury while on duty that complicates her life and makes us wonder if she’s up to the job.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Expect Fire is Nice in early 2018.

Love in the Key of C by Daryl Devore writing as Victoria Adams @daryldevore #RLFblog #contemporary

Daryl Devore writing as Victoria Adams author of Love in the Key of C.

    Please tell us about yourself.
Two writers in one. Daryl Devoré writes hot romances with sexy heroes and strong heroines. Victoria Adams is Daryl Devoré’s alter ego when she’s inspired to write sweet romances with little to no heat.
Daryl (@daryldevore) lives in an old farmhouse in Ontario, Canada, with her husband, a large salt water aquarium full of fish, a black cat named Licorice and some house ghosts. Her daughter is grown and has flown the nest. Daryl loves to take long walks on her quiet country road or snowshoe across the back acres, and in the summer, kayak along the St. Lawrence River. She has touched a moon rock, a mammoth, and a meteorite. She’s been deep in the ocean in a submarine, flown high over Niagara Falls in a helicopter, and used the ladies room in a royal palace. Life’s an adventure and Daryl’s having fun living it.
What is your go-to meal when you dine out?
Fish and chips. I could have mentioned meals in more upscale restaurants, but I’m guessing I’ve eaten more Fish and Chips than anything else. I have used the setting of a Fish and Chips restaurant in two books. It’s a relaxed atmosphere with comfort food.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
I can do that in two words – the beach. I am at peace at the beach. I love to walk along the sand lost in my thoughts, splash in the water and just inhale the freshness of the salt air.
    What are your hobbies?
I adore yoga and attend several classes a week. My favourites are Yin Yoga and Wall Yoga. What is Wall Yoga? Picture me hanging upside down – like a bat. Awww. So good.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
I am a British Murder Mystery fan. I have complete collections Agatha Christie, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Dorothy L. Sayers and Ellis Peters. I love nothing more than to curl up on a cold winter’s day, next to our woodstove with a hot chocolate – with marshmallow of course – and a fantastic murder mystery.
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
I have two pen names, who write very different heat levels, so it depends on who I am as I am researching. As Daryl Devore, hot romance writer, the websites can get rather explicit as I look for new ideas or plot twists. For this latest book, I am writing as Victoria Adams and I researched theatres in New York City, musicians, and flutes.
Please tell us about your latest book.
    Genre Contemporary Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G
Can a slice of pizza and a flute erase the ravages of life and allow Giselle and Ethan to fall in love by Christmas?
Collapsing in front the biggest department store in the city on one of the busiest days of the holiday season was not how Giselle imagined her day. Cold and hungry, she trudged through her daily existence wondering if she’d ever find happiness again.
Teenagers. Ethan loved working with them and turning their raw musical talent into something beautiful and rewarding, but that didn’t fill the black void in his soul.
Like fate, the songwriters’ muse nudged Giselle and Ethan together. But can Giselle overcome her fears and can Ethan get past the darkness that surrounds him, so they can find love?
