Haunting Miss Fenwick by Alina K Field @AlinaKField #RLFblog #NewRelease #RegencyRomanceAlina K Field , welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Haunting Miss Fenwick by Alina K Field

    Genre Regency Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG 13

Thrilled to finally have a permanent home, a Squire’s daughter won’t let a supernatural creature scare her away. While hunting the ghost she doesn’t believe in, she stumbles upon a mysterious flesh and blood man who might be the key to all of her problems.

When the new Squire moves into Fenwick Manor, an ex-army officer secretly searching the sprawling medieval wreck devises a plan. First, the manor’s legendary ghost will chase servants away. Then, he’ll convince the new residents to leave. But the Squire’s spirited daughter soon has him wondering if he might have found a perfect comrade in arms to help battle old enemies and find the proof that will clear his family name.

Why did you write this book?

Haunting Miss Fenwick picks up the story of Fenwick Manor, the home of one of the characters in my book The Counterfeit Lady. Not only do my hero and heroine get a happy ending, but the old manor does as well!

The story is also part of the Common Elements Romance Project. There are about one hundred of us romance authors writing stories in a variety of subgenres. All that’s required is that each story include five common elements: a missing key, a lightning storm, a haunted house, a character named Max, and a stack of books.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I like historical romance, and historical adventure stories.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

There are many, but I’m going to pick Rupert Carsington, the intrepid and incorrigible hero of Mr. Impossible, by Loretta Chase.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m doing the research and story planning for a prequel series to my Sons of the Spy Lord series, to be set in England during the tumultuous times of the French Revolution. I’m also planning a story for the Love After All project with other historical romance authors. We’re taking famous tragic characters, setting them in Regency England, and giving them a happy-ever-after. My story will be about Macbeth. Wish me luck!

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Besides Haunting Miss Fenwick, I have a short Christmas novel included in the just-released Winter Wishes Holiday Regency Romance Anthology with twelve other authors. My story is called The Duke She Despised.

His secrets and hers make them a perfect match—and she’s the lady he wants. But she won’t accept his proposal, not even to rescue him.

Know the Hero from A Leap Into Love

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.
It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?
As an innkeeper with a small son to keep after, he’s seldom bored. There are always chores to be seen to and inn guests to tend to. Plus, Alexander Grant has never met the stranger he can’t strike up a pleasant chat with to while away the time.
What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?
    A delicious meat pasty.
Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.
He very much misses his regimentals, but having sold out some years ago, he prefers to be well-dressed in proper but sturdy coats and a simply tied neck cloth.
Does he know how to fix things?
He’s quite handy around the inn.
He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
It was a difficult day when his plan to save his young son’s future went awry and his father disowned him. But that was many years past, and he’s made his own way in the world, providing his young boy with a good home.
How does he act around children he doesn’t know?
He’s firm, and fair, and always willing to chat with them.
What is he like first thing in the morning?
    Cheerful. Alexander is always cheerful.
How does he handle things when in a “proper” social situation?
As an officer and a gentleman, he knows perfectly well how to conduct himself among the quality.
Valet or takes care of himself?
He left his batman on the Peninsula when he sold out and returned home. He’s had no valet since.
    Necktie/cravat or open shirt?
    A properly tied neck cloth.
    Sleeves buttoned or rolled up?
When he’s working the taps, he rolls up his sleeves.
    Powdered wig or natural hair?
    Natural hair.
    Carriage or horseback?
His days of riding the countryside on a fine mount are mostly behind him. Within the village, he walks, unless he’s freighting supplies and goods, and then he travels by wagon.
Thanks for helping us get to know your hero!

Top Blogger of 2018: Brenda Sparks

#Romance Lives Forever on #RLFblog Meet the top bloggers @NJWaltersauthor @Brenda_Sparks @VickiBatman As I looked at this list of names, I wondered if people would think I was only giving out this award to friends. That’s true, partially. Each has become a friend over the last year or has been for a long time. Hosting this site gives me a unique opportunity to get to know many authors. But the statistics speak for themselves. When I pulled year long stats from the backside of the blog, these were the names that floated to the top.

Brenda Sparks made the list as top blogger due to having the most page views throughout the entire year. She also promoted the blog itself. I was tickled when I looked at the stats and saw her name right at the top, because in my mind, she certainly deserved the appause. Please do visit her post and check out her book, Alpha Pair. Brenda wins a year of cover ads on RLF.

Below are the titles and links to the top ten posts of the year. There are some interesting statistics I’d like to point out.

Of these, two were from the Cancer Awareness series (Vicki Batman and Iris Blobel). Four were paranormal romance. Four were historical. Two fantasy, and two were LGBT. If these don’t add up to ten it’s because some posts covered more than one genre. I invite you to click and visit each of these. They will be well worth your time.

Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about the book.

Rosalyn’s Ring by Alina K Field

    Genre Regency Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
With her true inheritance lost, Rosalyn Montagu has reluctantly fallen into her elderly cousin’s tidy London life of do-gooder spinster. But when a young woman from the district of Rosalyn’s childhood is put up for auction in a wife sale, Rosalyn seizes the chance to rescue her–and to recover a family heirloom.
She braves a precarious Christmas Eve coach ride in the company of a mysterious nobleman and soon finds she’s not the only determined buyer attending the sale. Her travel companion not only succeeds in thwarting her purchase–he reveals himself as the man who took everything that should have been hers. Everything, that is, except her father’s ring, which she recovers before being tossed out of the inn into the snowy night.
The newly anointed Viscount Cathmore has accepted there is no way to avoid living his father’s dream of nobility, but he’s drawn the line at marrying a blue-blooded miss–until he meets Rosalyn, a provoking beauty with an upper crust manner, a larcenous streak, and enough secrets to rouse even his jaded heart. And when more mysteries swirl around Rosalyn’s lost inheritance, Cathmore is just the man to help her uncover the truth.

Know the Heroine from Rosalyn’s Ring

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
She pulls out a deck of cards and plays patience, if she’s alone, or if she has someone to play with, piquet.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
    A meat pie.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
She loves colorful gowns with ribbons and trims.
Does she know how to fix things?
    No, not at all.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Rosalyn’s plan to rescue her maid’s cousin from being auctioned off to another man failed badly when she was outbid by a handsome stranger who, shockingly, was buying the girl for his secretary.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
She spends part of her time helping at a children’s home, more often than not, spoiling them.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Rosalyn is not a morning person. She’d much rather stay up late entertaining–if only she could afford to do so.
How does she handle things when in a “proper” social situation?
As the daughter of a baron, she was taught all the proper rules. Unfortunately, she doesn’t always follow them.
Maid or takes care of herself?
She has a very saucy maid.
    Proper dress or casual clothes?
Proper, but sadly, plain, due to her reduced circumstances.
    Sleeves buttoned or rolled up?
    Rolled up whenever possible.
    Powdered wig or natural hair?
One of her most distinctive features is her red hair–everyone is always remarking about it. Still, she would never cover it with powder.
    Carriage or horseback?
Horseback–if only she still owned a horse!

Alina K Field, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Avenging the Earl’s Lady by Alina K Field

    Genre Regency Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
He’s the most irritating, inscrutable, insufferable lord in the kingdom.
Also nosy, managing, and manipulative, and a man who’s made an art of revenge.
She ought to know better than to encourage his attentions. But…he’s rich, and when an impossible debt from her past comes due, theft seems the only answer.
What had he missed about her?
She’s nobly born, and proper. If he wanted a wife, she’d be perfect. Not to mention, he’d very much like her in his bed.
But she’s gone missing, along with a priceless painting he needs for revenge on one last enemy.
Avenging his own honor is everything—until that of his lady is threatened.
Find out what happens when the invincible Spy Lord meets his match!
Why did you write this book?
Avenging the Earl’s Lady is the final book in the Sons of the Spy Lord Series. After all his matchmaking and meddling, I decided the spy lord needed his own romance!
What is your favorite genre to read?
I enjoy historical romance, but I also like suspense and historical adventure stories.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I like the delightfully impossible Rupert Carsington, the hero of Mr. Impossible, by Loretta Chase.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on a novella-length story for release in 2019. It will tie in with my series and includes a haunted house, a hound of hell, and a hero with a hidden identity.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
The novella mentioned above and a Christmas story for 2019, yet to be written.
