Know Samantha Kincaid from Finding Hope by Donna Kaye @donnakayewriter #RLFblog #RomanticSuspense #PTSDWounded in Afghanistan, Samantha Kincaid works to overcome her PTSD and build a new life for herself in Donna Kaye’s new romantic suspense, Finding Hope. Ren Garrett found peace in Spencer Colorado, but his past threatens to destroy his new life.

Donna, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about Finding Hope.

    Finding Hope by Donna Kaye

    Genre Romantic Suspense

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

Her life will never be the same.

Injured in Afghanistan, Samantha Kincaid is struggling physically and emotionally. She’s come to Spencer to create a new life, but can’t escape the nightmares and panic attacks that follow her.

Is the peace he’s found too good to be true?

After a couple years of being unsettled following his stint in the Army, Ren Garrett found a place to belong. Now his past has reared its unforgiving head. Accused of taking the daughter he can’t claim, he must exonerate himself by finding her.

Know the Heroine from Finding Hope

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.

It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?

Read a good mystery or cuddle up with her guy, Ren.

What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?

    Samantha’s favorite is chocolate cake.

Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.

You’ll usually find Samantha in jeans or khakis and a comfortable t-shirt short or long sleeve depending on the weather.

Does she know how to fix things?

Samantha has done some remodeling. Her most recent project involved installing new drywall at her Aunt Gladys’ house.

She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

Samantha is a Marine veteran dealing with PTSD and injuries she received from an IED explosion. She’s dealt with a lot of challenges over the past year and a half. She had to work hard to find her new normal and along the way she hurt people when she lashed out in frustration at her limitations. Especially at the beginning. One incident hurt her Mom’s feelings and Samantha felt lower than a slug after the incident.

How does she act around children she doesn’t know?

She’s normally a quiet and reserved person, but if the child looks scared Samantha will try to put them at ease by talking to them.

What is she like first thing in the morning?

That depends on whether or not she had a good night. If she didn’t sleep well you don’t want to talk to her until she’s had a least one cup of coffee.

    Can she use chopsticks?

She used them as a kid, then she got out of the habit. She needs to practice again, because her current attempts have been pathetic.

Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?

She drinks her coffee black when she drinks it. Chai tea and hot chocolate are also her drinks of choice. What she’s drinking depends on the time of day and her mood.

What apps would she have on her phone?

The normal ones for google, her camera, spider solitaire, Instagram and Facebook. She’d rather talk to a person face-to-face than text or post on Facebook.

    Android or iPhone?

Android. That’s what her first phone had and she never felt the need to learn a new operating system.

    Earrings or unpierced ears?

Pierced ears. She wears basic stud earrings most of the time, but has some fancy earrings for when she goes to parties or on dates.

    Tattoos or unadorned skin?

Unadorned skin. She admires tattoos on other people, but has never felt the need to get one herself.

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

She drives an SUV for personal use.

    Recycle or toss?

Recycle whenever possible. She’s seen too many places around the world with major trash issues. She wants to do her part to save the planet and its resources.

Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

In the erotic romance series of Minnesota Romances by Fiona McGier, the beautiful natural surroundings of Grand Marais lead to lasting romance for many visitors. An action movie star finds himself–and true love. An ex-KGB agent tries to tame a biker queen, but falls for her instead. Fiona McGier, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your series.

Only One Man Will Do in the Minnesota Romances series

    Genre-Erotic romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): A very steamy R-rating. No children allowed!

This is an MC story, but here the female rides the Harley. Tough-as-nails businesswoman on weekdays, Alexandra is a biker queen on weekends. She’s never been satisfied with just one man, enjoying all of the men she “hand-picked” for her gang. When a large Russian man inserts himself into her life, she follows her instincts to some explosive sex. Ex-KGB agent Dmitri has been wandering across the USA for years. When the woman he’s sent to deliver an ultimatum to turns out to be his favorite fantasy come true, he decides to try to convince her that he can be all the man she needs. But he’s not willing to share her with her gang, and she’s not willing to give up other men. What starts as a fling gets serious quickly, before it turns deadly. When two of her bikers are killed, Dmitri is the main suspect. How far is he willing to go to keep her to himself? And has she really fallen in love for the first time ever…with a murderer?

Which book is this in the series?

This is book 2 in the series.

How many books do you plan for the series?

I’m not sure–I thought I was done, but another plot is whispering to me.

    How many books are completed?

There are 4 books already published.

What characters are the main stars in your series?

Action movie star Raul Roderick, and his frequent co-star, Kelly Ann Sheridan. Their favorite indie director, Jared Sorenson, assigns his cousin, Veronica Sorrenson, to “babysit” Raul to keep him out of trouble. Ivan Trachenko owns a resort in the same area as their Gram-Marie. His cousin Dmitri gets sent to warn those who want to enable Raul in his addictions, to stay away from him. And Kelly’s mom Stella, is a retired CIA agent. Once they appear in the series, they often turn up in subsequent books.

What is the overall theme in this series?

When you know and accept yourself, you are more attractive to others, and more likely to find someone to love, who will love you back. True love isn’t necessary for a good life, but it improves your chances of happiness. And a natural setting leads to peace of mind.

Please list the series titles below, in any order you prefer.

1-For the Love of His Life
    2-Only One Man Will Do
    3-Her Last Resort
    4-No More Secrets

What did you like best about writing this series?

I love to go camping up in Grand Marais, Minnesota. It’s a beautiful small town on the shore of Lake Superior, with a thriving arts community. Drive up the Gunflint Trail and you’ll find resorts, campgrounds, and many lakes designed to let you reconnect with nature. I got the idea for the first book one summer when I was sad about leaving. I imagined falling in love with a local person, so you’d have a reason to move there. Writing these books lets me pretend I’m still up there. Plus I’ve grown very fond of the people in these books.

What other books (not in this series, have you written?)

2 Female Spies books: Secret Lover, and Undercover Lovers.

A paranormal vampire romance saga: Prophecy of the Mayan Undead

2 paranormal werewolf books: When a Wolf Howls, and Worth the Wait

6 books in The Reyes Family Romances series: Never Too Old for the Game of Love, Recipe For Love, Love by Design, Prescription For Love (free download), Analysis of Love, and Love Therapy.

I have always had characters intruding into my thoughts, showing scenes from their lives. When I ignore them, they start to yell louder. If I write their stories so they can live in readers’ heads as well, they usually leave me alone. Soon the next voices appear. I like the noise. I write romances that involve strong, independent women who enjoy casual flings, but are not looking to fall in love. Enter the man who feels the same way–until they both realize this is different. I love the passion of new love!
I keep busy with multiple jobs, and have to squeeze in writing when I should be sleeping. As often as possible, I go out with my family, or just my husband, to view the night stars around a campfire. Stories present themselves to me while driving, while dreaming, and especially while camping.
I write romances that involve strong, independent women who don’t mind casual flings, but who are not looking to fall in love. Enter the man who decides this is the woman for him. I thinks that how they ultimately both realize that they have found the one, is the most interesting part of a romance.

Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O'Ryan by Dee S. Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #historical #romance 1872 Oregon. In Dee S. Knight’s ménage a trois, two unusual men share widow Regan O’Ryan, promising her that in the West, dreams–and especially fantasies–can come true. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O’Ryan by Dee S Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart

    Genre Historical ménage romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Joining in the westward migration, Davey and Regan O’Ryan Stone bought an Oregon farm sight unseen, hungering for adventure. Davey regretted the impulse far past the point of no return, and then he died. Now, unskilled and alone on her farm, Regan fears going home a failure–as a daughter, a wife and a farmer. With money quickly running out, she gladly accepts the offer of help from Seth Pratt, an acquaintance from the wagon train, and his friend Haywood Lawrence.

One-armed Seth seeks work at the remote farm at the end of an Oregon trail with low expectations. When he finds Regan, alone and widowed, he tamps down desire. She deserves better than a man handicapped in war, searching for his soul. She’s worthy of someone like his Shakespeare-spouting, best friend, Hay. Nothing could have prepared Seth for Regan’s simple solution–that both men stay. On the farm and in her bed.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Yes–in two sub-genre. Jenna Stewart is the name I use for ménage books (with the exception of two space opera ménage books, as Dee). As Jenna, I write historical and shifter ménage romance.

How do you come up with ideas?

I had the idea for the Sisters O’Ryan books (four of them), just kind of overnight. It felt like no real thought at all. Not sure where the idea came from, exactly. But another book I’d thought about for years was also historical. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a nun in the worst way. My mom worked in a Catholic hospital and I was around nuns a great deal and I admired them. Back in the 1950s, nuns were very different from what we see today, so I wondered about a nun who joined the convent and was content–until she went home to Oregon to empty her mother’s house after her death. There she discovers secrets that have affected her whole life, and desire such as she’d never imagined. She was no longer content. After the passion she experienced, could she return to the convent? My publisher called it Seducing Their Nun–a title I’ve always hated. I wanted to call it Sins of the Mother, and if you give the book a try, you’ll understand why. I know people who have said they wouldn’t read the book because it was disrespectful to the church, but I promise, it isn’t! Anyway, from that book, I created a series of historical ménage romances that were connected by one character in the previous book–like six degrees of separation. The shifter books came about as a lark, just to see if I could do it.

I like ménage romance because it demonstrates that a woman can indeed love two men at the same time. However (sigh), I also think it takes very unusual people to maintain such a relationship. Not too many of them around.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Creating an idea that will appeal to readers. And it also has to appeal to me as a writer. I have lots of ideas I think would work for a book but I don’t believe in the concept I would have to write or I simply don’t understand it, so I can’t possibly write it. I want to create work that people like and I would like to read myself.

When did you write your first book?

Gosh! It makes me feel old. As Dee, I wrote Impatient Passion in 2002. I wrote Burning Bridges (as Anne Krist) in 2005. As Jenna, I wrote Regan in 2012. You see it took me a while to come around to focusing on ménage!

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Leather

    Black or red? Red, definitely

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? I know satin sheets have their problems, but what’s sexier than watching a satin sheet slip-slide off a naked body?

    Ocean or mountains? Ocean

City life or country life? City

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home, with my guys doing very naughty things

Dogs or cats? Both. I love watching their interactions
