After receiving his grade twelve diploma and marking his eighteenth birthday, René Oshawee cannot fight the temptation seventeen-year-old high school junior Billy Redsky blatantly offers now that what they share has become taboo.

When their secret romance is blown into the open, Billy’s foster parents send René to Toronto to complete the last of his schooling under the supervision of a family friend, leaving Billy behind at their Ojibway community.

Now Billy and René must make the biggest decision of their lives—fight for the true love they know they’ll never find with anyone else, or go their separate ways.

It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?

He’ll whip out his sketchpad, grab his charcoal pencils, set the TV to Forensic Files, and sketch while he watches TV.

What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?

Kentucky Fried Chicken. He can’t get enough of the Colonel’s eleven herbs and spices.

Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.

Jeans, T-shirt, running shoes, and a hoodie

Does he know how to fix things?

He only knows how to break things LOL.

He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

He will get emotional and probably have a fit. He’s got a quick temper and lacks patience. If something does not go right the first time, he becomes frustrated.

How does he act around children he doesn’t know?

He’s really good with children. Being in foster care, he can relate to all children. He will talk to them. Play with them if they wish to play. If they are sad, try and cheer them up. He adores kids.

What is he like first thing in the morning?

He’s a little bit sleepy, but rather excited because he’s living at “Castle Oshawee,” his dream place, so every morning is something special to him, especially since René is across the hall from his bedroom.

Can he use chopsticks?

No. He prefers a knife and fork.

Does he drink coffee? If so, how does he take it? If not, what does he drink instead?

Yes, he does. He likes about three containers of cream and four teaspoons or sugar. If he’s not drinking coffee, he’s all about root beer.

What apps would he have on his phone?

He’s a 90s teenager so he does not have a smart phone, but if he did, he would most likely enjoy social media, drawing apps, apps related to his culture.

Android or iPhone?

I would say iPhone. He’s artsy, and he’d love Apple products.

Beard or clean-shaven?

Clean-shaven.

Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?

Unadorned.

Personal vehicle or public transport?

He gets to use the other hero’s truck in the story, so a Ford F150 4×4.

Recycle or toss?

Recycle. He’s very respectful of nature.
