Adversaries by Lyndi Alexander

Genre YA post-apocalyptic sci-fi

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG for violence

Life after the devastating biological terrorist attack that decimated the White population in the US is beginning to recover as Tzu Lin Kwan is finally able to deliver her precious cargo of herbs to her scientist father. Or is it?

The virus may be mutating, spreading to infect those previously immune. Tzu Shin and his fellow scientists—and now Kwan—are literal prisoners of the US military. The White supremacist army of the demagogue Gabriel has invaded St.Louis. And the Chinese assassin Piao knows where to find his targets.

Kwan and her friends Valery, Eddie, and San are ready to fight to the death to defend their recovering world. The question is: Are courage and determination enough?

Why did you write this book?

The story came to me over ten years ago–I’d written it much shorter, as one book, the book of my heart. I love these characters, and their battle against evil, an evil very much alive in our country right now. I worked on it through one of Margie Lawson’s mountain top retreats. I sent letters to 101 agents and editors and got rejected. Then Liz Burton at Zumaya Publications read it and said she’d publish it–but only if I expanded it to a whole series. I was ecstatic. It’s taken ten years, but Adversaries tells the end of the tale.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Science fiction. Or romantic suspense. Or fantasy. With the occasional cookbook. J

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Master Robinton, from Anne McCaffrey’s dragon books. He is kind, wise, a great adviser and someone I would love to have in my personal circle of friends.

What are you working on at the moment?

A sci-fi romance ménage story with a human man, a human female, and a gender shifting alien who loves them both…..

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Hopefully the above, as well as a high school come-together-again romance.
