Genre Science fiction romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

At the Mercy of Her Pleasure is a fast-paced scifi romance with an adorable, fun-loving hero who’s half-human and half-cat and a by-the-book army captain heroine. Hired to steal back a prototype taken by the imperial armada, Senth Antonello retrieves it, but his brother is kidnapped to force Senth to surrender the device. Now he has to rescue his brother, outsmart the armada, and keep the item out of imperial hands. All doable, except for one small problem. He must do it in the company of NarrAy Jorlan, a genetically altered woman whose pheromones could enhance the mission or crumble it into dust with a single siren kiss. He’s a thief. She’s a soldier. Do opposites attract? Oh, mercy!

Know the Hero from At the Mercy of Her Pleasure

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.

It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?

He likes watching his favorite ruckball team, the Kelthian Killers. Ruckball is a mix of soccer, wrestling, and hockey. Points can be taken away for the wrong type of hold when wrestling for a ball, and parts of a professional field have lower gravity. It’s fun to watch.

What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?

Senth likes chocolate. He’d probably go for dark chocolate muffins or cookies with milk, but he also loves chocolate ice cream.

Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.

Casual, but he is quite comfortable in dressy clothes and can easily tie the most difficult formal tie in the empire, a Tyran knot.

Does he know how to fix things?

He’s good with his hands and he has experience taking things apart. As a young child, he exasperated his father by taking apart items and being unable to remember how to put them back together. His father often didn’t know either.

He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

He stole money from a bigoted teenage bully and used it to buy chocolates and roses for a woman he wanted to impress. Let’s just say that stealing money to buy her a gift did not go over well at all.

How does he act around children he doesn’t know?

He’s marvelous with kids and tutors younger students in the Thieves’ Guild. He is the mentor for a talented youngster whose skills are off the charts.

What is he like first thing in the morning?

Adorably muddle-headed and bleary-eyed, but soon snaps out of it and is good to go.

Can he use chopsticks?

Yes, he can. They are a Tyran implement, and he’s not only familiar with their culture, he also speaks their language.

Does he drink coffee? If so, how does he take it? If not, what does he drink instead?

He’s more of a hot chocolate kind of guy, but he’ll pretend-sip it if everyone else is having some. He’ll nurse that one cup all evening without ever drinking more than a spoonful.

What apps would he have on his phone?

He uses a device referred to as a mobile, which is like our smartphones on steroids. He has every app the Thieves’ Guild offers, plus ways to order food, hail a ride, or look up information. But all of his data is private and blocked because he uses the device in his work as a thief.

How does he act around people who don’t know what he is?

He doesn’t try to hide that he’s not fully human and when someone treats him with disrespect, he’ll start a fight so he can get close enough to pick their pocket.

Hide real self or be out in the open?

He is a HalfKin (half human and half feline humanoid) and he’s proud of it.

Let a worker handle it or do it himself?

He’d rather do it himself but has learned that doing it yourself can create unwanted attention. If it’s vital, he’ll do it himself.

Beard or clean-shaven?

Always clean-shaven.

Earrings/piercings or unadorned skin?

Recycle or toss?

He reuses everything and only tosses what is completely useless.
