I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of RLF–and I’m usually welcoming guests in this space. Today, it’s my turn to share a new book. A Stolen Heart is my latest in the Antonello Brothers sci-fi series set in the Tarthian Empire.
A Stolen Heart by Kayelle Allen
When he rescues a half-human orphan, a glorified space pirate turned entrepreneur sets in motion a chain of events that threatens to topple the powerful Thieves’ Guild he once led.
Multiple layers of conspiracy unfold, reaching all the way to Luc’s immortal ex–the king. Behind each solved mystery looms an unseen foe, undoing the good Luc accomplishes. For the sake of this child, Luc must postpone his own freedom and master his desire for revenge or he will violate an ancient vow. Worse, he’ll put the toddler at risk.
At war with his compassion for the vulnerable child, loyalty to the king, duty to the Guild, and the bright lure of freedom he’s coveted for centuries, Luc seeks the right path. Will he choose liberty and unparalleled success, or restore the Thieves’ Guild to its former glory while overseeing the child’s training?
A hard choice for any man. For an immortal whose inner monster can destroy on sight? Impossible.
A pirate with a monstrous past can never be trusted with an innocent child. Luc must ensure the child is protected, safe, nowhere near danger. Nowhere near him. Even if this little boy has already stolen his heart…
Why did you write this book?
I’ve written three other books in this series, and it’s been fun to see different aspects of the characters unfolding. In At the Mercy of Her Pleasure, Senth is a young man falling in love for the first time. In For Women Only, he’s in danger and needs saving by his big brother. In Bro, he’s meeting that brother for the first time, at age eighteen. And in A Stolen Heart, he’s all of three years old and stealing the heart of his soon-to-be adoptive father. I mean look at that face. Who could say no to that face?
What is your favorite genre to read?
I bounce around among Suspense, Regency Romance, Sci-Fi, and contemporary gay romance. I love stories with happy ever afters or happy for nows. I also read a lot of non-fiction.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Roarke from JD Robb’s In Death series.
Who are your favorite writers?
JD Robb, Michael Connelly, Lee Child, JR Ward, Beverley Oakley, Alexa Aston, Heather Gladney, Mary Renault… I’ll stop, but there are plenty more. I read a lot.
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m taking a short break from writing because I just finished a huge book. My brain and psyche need a reset. I anticipate starting the next book in about a month.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
On the agenda: I’ve finished Surrender Love and Forbid My Heart, both in the Surrender series. I’m hoping to write Surrender Trust next. Then comes Crystal Clear Truth (Antonello Brothers), and two books in the Bringer of Chaos series: Watch Your Six, and Ghost of a Chance. That’s the plan, anyway. But you know how life is. I didn’t plan to write A Stolen Heart, but it’s one of my favorite stories now that I’ve finished it. It’s the perfect book to read if you’ve never read anything of mine before.
