Why did you write this book?
I’d been reading some gothic romance that autumn (this was 2015), and had also seen a PBS special concerning Nikola Tesla, around the same time. The two seemed to combine and end up giving “birth”, so to speak, to the hero, Felix and …well, out came House of Dark Envy.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Usually fantasy, romance, science fiction. Some classics. If the story is good, the genre doesn’t matter.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Elric of Melniboné. One of the heroes of Michael Moorcock’s Eternal Champion series.
What are you working on at the moment?
A couple different things. I just released my first audiobook of my Gothic paranormal romance, Lady of the Tarot, so I’m promoting that heavily. I’m also working on an historical fantasy short novel, set during World War II.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Right now, I’m aiming to finish up what will be the third in my paranormal romance series Celtic Stewards Chronicles, and also that historical fantasy I mentioned above as well as the next installment in my paranormal fantasy series, Antique Magic. I hope to have that out before mid-June and with any luck, the next Antique Magic novel before Halloween.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Genre: House of Dark Envy is a Victorian Gaslamp romance (that is, romance with a hint of fantasy)
Book heat level (based on movie ratings):
Sweet (as far as the love scenes go, but there’s a fight scene at the end—So, PG, I think?)
Surely, lightning can’t strike twice…
1888: When Sarahjane attends Lady Morville’s costume party, she never expects to learn her old beau Felix Gryffith is under the illustrious woman’s patronage and stands on the cusp of making a world-changing discovery. Felix, whose lies disgraced her in the eyes of the London elite by labeling her a flirt.
Felix’s love for Sarahjane has never wavered, despite the scandal that forced them apart. He’s desperate to tell her the truth, if he can convince her to listen.
Fate lurked in the shadows that night, years ago. Has it returned to grant Sarahjane and Felix their wishes, or terrorize them?
