Genre Contemporary suspenseful romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): Very steamy R, includes menage scene

Ameena has never been able to forget what she endured on her last assignment before she left the agency.

The only female agent to live through what The Executioner did to his victims, she still bears the scars, both physical and psychological. When he escapes from his prison cell, her former handler brings two agents with him, telling her that one or the other will be her shadow, until her torturer is caught again.

Having kept herself too busy for romance, she is caught off-guard by the sudden insertion into her life of two hot, sexy men, one who actively pursues her, and one whom she finds more attractive for his shyness.

Doe she choose between them, or enjoy them both? Will she live long enough to make a choice? And once she does, is that the end of the story? When the man she chooses is captured while on his last assignment, she needs to recruit a team to rescue him.

But she needs one more team member–the man she rejected. There’s only one thing she can offer.

QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…

Yes. I always write contemporary stories, because the idea of sex without birth control is way too scary to contemplate. All of my stories include erotic scenes leading to romance, but some are paranormal, and some, like this book, have suspense due to the dangers inherent in being a secret agent.

How do you come up with ideas?…

Inspiration can come anytime, from things like a picture of someone I’d like to write about, or a person I see who looks intriguing, so I wonder what their life story is. Sometimes I get antire story arcs in dreams–those are the best dreams! And once I had a character actually speak to me directly in a dream, telling me how to end my writer’s block.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?…

I have to have a quiet environment, so I can “hear” the characters as they interact, or explain their actions to me. When my kids were younger and lived at home, they’d stay up so late making noise, that I did my writing between midnight and 2 or 3 AM. Now they’re all out of the house, so I don’t have to stay up that late anymore. I’ve never been an early riser–early mornings are not the best time of the day for me, so that was never an option.

When did you write your first book?…

I wrote my first book, Never Too Old for the Game of Love, in 2008, the year after my dad passed on. I was still grieving for him, but working 2 jobs, raising 4 kids, and then I had to take over Mom’s life, because she was diagnosed with dementia. It was a very stressful time for me, and I really needed happy endings in my life! So I wrote my first romance, and the other 5 books in the series just flew out of me. Once I held my first paperback, I felt like a real writer.

FUN

Leather or lace? Leather AND lace–the lace is under the leather, peeking out.

Black or red? Black, since my skin is Scottish skin, very pale ivory.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Satin for sexy times. Cotton for every day.

Ocean or mountains? Mountains with lakes.

City life or country life? I don’t like big crowded cities, so country life–but NO country music!

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home. More privacy for erotic moments.

Hotel, cabin, or camping? Camping–husband taught me to love it years ago. We just got a Scamp, the best camper ever!

I sub in high schools during the school year. Otherwise I’m writing and blogging about my books–and reading. Not only do I write erotic romance, I love to read it too.

I often read while camping with my long-time HEA. Our four adult kids sometimes join us. Shinrin-yoku is forest bathing in Japanese, and as long as there’s no snow on the ground, that’s where I’ll be and what I’ll be doing–as often as possible.
I also enjoy sewing–mostly masks these days– crocheting afghans to keep my loved ones warm, and baking–cookies, muffins, and especially pies. I’m known for my never-fail pie crust, so I put the recipe on my website under the pies tab, along with some of my family’s favorites, that I featured in one of my books that had a heroine who baked lots of pies.
