Fay’s Wish by Dee Carver

Genre: Paranormal, fantasy, Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Shayla, Princess of the Fay, must begin the journey to discover her true power by leaving the island. If she’s successful, she will become queen. Her plight won’t be an easy one, for there are those who would use Shayla as a means to solidify their own position of power.

Kyle, Shayla’s guide in the human world, is destined to bring hope to the Fay even though his own future seems bleak. With Kyle by her side, miracles can happen, offering the promise of the return of the magic.

Once that happens, nothing is impossible.

Why did you write this book?

When I wrote the original version of the story, I had just lost my mother and while looking at the rain outside, Shayla’s own heartache began flowing through my fingers. In this scene, it became more than just a moment in the story but how the rain had been affecting me that day. “A soft downpour fell steadily, covering the tears that were flowing unchecked. I had refused to allow any to see my pain when she whispered her last words to me, and none saw them when they removed all trace of her existence from her deathbed.”

Later in life I lost my stepmother and as I reworked the story, those same emotions came pouring up again. I think at the time I wanted to believe in magic and the power of healing. Older, I now realize this was my chance to say goodbye to both women.

The Yule in the story speaks to me this year as well. After the loss of my stepmother, I became numb, this year however, the emotions are raw but I have faith that this is part of the healing process.

What is your favorite genre to read? I am a huge fan of most romance genres; I also like to read Christian stories. Currently, thanks to school, I am reading a lot on marketing, which is cool too. Classical stories such as those by Jane Eyre.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)? Oh that would have to be Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw from Wuthering Heights. I can remember reading it for the first time in High School and they have stuck with me ever since.

What are you working on at the moment? My own story writing, I am working on Chocolate Seductions (tentative title) which is the first book in the Cursed Seductions series. For school, Power Points on consumer marketing. Work, well it depends on the topic but currently Winter Marketing mostly and a marketing handbook.

What books will we see from you in coming months? The first of the Cursed Seductions series, Chocolate Seductions. The story resolves Ambrosia who is a part of the same lineage that the Vampire and Shifter curses originated. Ambrosia is a part of a long line those who face accepting the curse or perishing from it. Goddess Morrigan makes an appearance and we learn a bit about Nathanial and Sabastian who area the original.

The Curse

Centuries past, during a time of magic, sorrow and when man’s heart was darker than the blackest of nights, two men Nathaniel Burundi Stygian and Sebastian Todd Lochinvar, made the ultimate mistake of angering an old powerful witch. She had watched as the two men used wealth and prowess to prey on innocent women; turning their victims’ tender young hearts into those of pain and anguish. Determined to teach them a lesson of punishment based on love, she placed a curse on Nathaniel and Sebastian that reflected their beastly behaviors. They would live throughout eternity knowing that all their descendants would walk through life facing the same suffering their callous behavior had caused others.

Time is running out for the men and women ensnared by the curse; the women are dying painful deaths and the men are becoming more like the beast hunting just under the surface them. Hopefully, this marks their beginning and not the end for all…
