Alien Alphas by Cynthia Sax and Friends @CynthiaSax #RLFblog #SciFi #RomanceBattle Of The Sexes – Literally, By Cynthia Sax

In Dark Warlord, my story in the awesome Alien Alphas box set, my heroine fights my hero in a very sexy gladiator-style battle. Real blows are landed. Blood is spilled. It is human vs modified humanoid, warrior vs warrior, female vs male.

I remember, when I was younger, a battle like that would rarely happen in books or movies. Males fought males. Females rarely fought at all and when they did, they normally faced other females. I can’t remember a hero ever landing a blow on a female in battle. Heroes shielded a female from harm, even enemy females.

Which was a bit silly. In battle, there’s often no time to determine the sex of the person attacking you. War is chaotic and fast moving. There’s dirt and guck and smoke in the air. If warriors are using guns and more modern weapons, there’s distance between adversaries. All of this makes it challenging merely to distinguish between friend and foe.

When warriors see the enemy, they defend themselves and they counterattack. That’s how they stay alive. They don’t think about whether the enemy has male bits or female bits.

In Dark Warlord, Batu, our barbarian hero, knows exactly whom he is facing in battle. Genine, his opponent, is his gerel, the one being genetically compatible with him. The Warlord wants her, desiring the female more than he has ever desired anything or anyone. She WILL be his.

But he also knows she’s a skilled warrior, capable of holding her own. Genine has spent her lifespan fighting enemies, waging war, defending the innocent. She wields her sword as though it was an extension of herself. If Batu were human, she could likely defeat him.

The crowd is expecting a real battle with blood and pain and, if they’re lucky, death. They will punish both the winner and the loser harshly if they don’t get the show they’re anticipating. Batu and Genine’s confrontation will be sexy and fierce, testing their skills and their control. One wrong move and one of them could die.

What is the best male vs female battle you’ve ever seen on the screen or read in a book? Do you find it as sexy as I do? (grins)
