About the Book

Title Hard Act to Follow
Genre MM Contemporary Romance
Author K. Vale
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Kyrie is an actor with a physical aversion to telling lies, a
one-eyed cat, and horrible taste in men. His ex-brother-in-law and best friend,
Greg, harbors a secret crush he can’t shake. After denying his feelings for Kyrie
for too long, Greg finally gives in to desire one drunken night. Come the morning,
the facts get twisted. Kyrie pretends he doesn’t remember a thing—a lie that eats
him alive—and Greg can’t stop thinking about how he screwed up the best thing in
his life.
Before they can clear the air, Kyrie follows his dreams to New
York City, but could he also be running away?
A mistake from Kyrie’s past detonates their silence, and Greg
is forced to confront the man he loves. Is their new truth strong enough to support
a relationship, or are they doomed to crumble under old fears? Their friendship
could evolve into something a million times stronger, but maybe Kyrie’s act is just
too hard for Greg to follow.

Interview with Kyrie Li

Name: Kyrie Li
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Birthplace: Boston, MA
Profession: Student/Actor/Waiter
Ethnicity: half African American, half Korean
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include
any unique features such as
Double Takes

dimples, freckles, or scars: Kyrie is 5’9″, about
155 pounds, and slim but toned. He has short black hair, mocha skin, laughing eyes
with uber-long lashes, and is almost femininely pretty.

Who is the significant
other in your character’s life?
Gregory Douglas Dwyer, Esquire, Kyrie’s ex-brother-in-law and
best friend
How does your hero dress?
Flamboyantly. Kyrie loves splashes of color and slim-legged pants,
and can wear an ascot better than Freddy Jones from Scooby-Doo. He usually cranks
the attire up a notch around his family and close friends, and loves getting into
costume for performances both in and out of the bedroom.
How educated is this character?
Is he book smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
Kyrie just graduated with his bachelors in theater arts and is
a solid B student without putting in much effort. He jumps into everything headfirst,
and so has a fair amount of life experience for his age, but he is also extremely
naïve sometimes, which tends to get him hurt.
Does he scrape by, live
comfortably, live extravagantly?
He lived in a shoebox apartment with his roommate, Liv, all through
college and again when they moved to NYC. Shortly afterward, though, he and Greg
moved into a larger condo together. Now Kyrie has to keep up his end of the “kept
boyfriend” bargain as he is still not pulling in a ton of money waiting tables
and auditioning for acting roles.
Is he close to family?
Kyrie is the baby of his family, and is definitely treated that
way. He’s close with his older sister, Jasmine, and spoiled by his mother Shana.
His dad is a bit more reserved, but they all dote on Kyrie.
Can your hero keep a secret?
If not, why not? If yes, why?
Kyrie is horrible at keeping secrets. He’s the perfect person
to tell a secret to if you want it to get out. Ever since he was a child he would
make himself physically ill if he told a lie. The guilt would eat away at him until
he had to confess.
What secrets does your
character know about people around him that he does NOT share?
Kyrie manages to tell a whopper of a lie to his best friend Greg.
After a night of drinking and lowered inhibitions, they end up in bed together.
The next morning, Kyrie freaks and pretends he blacked out and doesn’t remember
a thing. Needless to say, it doesn’t work well for either of them.
What inner doubt causes
your character the most difficulty?
Kyrie is convinced that Greg is still in love with Kyrie’s sister,
Jasmine. Despite the fact that Greg and Jazz are divorced, Kyrie tries repeatedly
to get them back together. Later on he realizes he’s worried Greg will find someone
new and no longer have time for him.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

Why do you think your
writer chose to write about you?
That’s a joke, right? The real question is–what took her so
long?
What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
She probably should have kept quiet about the kinky boots I borrowed
from the theater. I mean, I don’t care that people know I can rock heels, I just
wouldn’t want my producer to find out I was treating the costume closet like a lingerie
lending library, ya know? Might not fly.
What do you wish your
writer would write next?
My next book! Greg and I have a lot of humps to get over—get
it? Humps? No, seriously. She needs to put away those other two books she’s working
on and get cracking on Shooting Stars 3.5 because we can’t possibly be contained
to one tiny little novel. Nope. We’re explosive, baby! Sequel! Sequel! Sequel! Come
on! Say it with me, now.
What other character from
your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Well, Livy should probably get a book because that Mark guy she’s
livin’ with is nice enough, but she could totally do better. Don’t tell him I said
that. Ah, he could probably do better, too. Don’t tell her I said that.
Is there anything you’d
like to say to your writer?
Forever Is Now
Greg and I want a baby. Make it happen. Hah! Just kidding, you
chode! I can’t believe you fell for that. You should see the look on your face!
Price! Less!
