Finding the Dream
Title Finding the Dream
Genre Contemporary romance
Author Jennifer Britt
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Jessica James had her dream—a career on Broadway as a successful
actress—until one night when it was taken all away. Forced to move back to Lincoln
Falls and live with her parents, Jessica’s only goal is to regain her career and
go back to New York. She doesn’t count on a honeysuckle hating man standing in her
way or the town of Lincoln Falls itself. Now everything she thought she ever wanted
may not be her dream at all.
Eric Mason and his daughter have quietly lived next door to Jessica’s
parents. That all changes when he meets Jessica. She is overly dramatic and the
most annoying person he’s ever met. Yet, he can’t get her off his mind.
Will they find a new dream together?

Interview with Eric Mason

Tell us about yourself, please.
My name is Eric Mason and I’m in my mid-thirties. I’m a widower
and single dad. My daughter, Sophie, is five years old and she’s the light of my
life. I’m also the PE teacher and football coach at Lincoln Falls High.
What’s your internal limitation? Meaning, what is it about
you that makes it so you cannot do what it is you need to do during this story?
My fear of abandonment. Losing my wife has made it difficult
for me to give my heart to someone. I want to share my life with someone and be
a family again. Sophie and I both need a woman in our lives.
What’s your external complication? In the story world your
author created, explain what it is you fear most.
Jessica’s job. She’s a Broadway actress. I’m falling for her,
but I’m afraid she’s going to get a role and be on a plane to New York faster than
my running back can run the forty. Sorry about the football talk. I’m currently
having running back issues.
Tell us about your significant other, that person who makes
living worthwhile.
She’s overly dramatic and has quite the attitude. I’ve been on
the receiving end of that attitude a lot. I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m with
her. Jessica isn’t all sass. She has the biggest heart I’ve ever seen. She loves
to work with kids and adores Sophie. She does things just because she knows they
will make my life easier.
Jessica would be surprised to hear me say this, but she’s fun
to be around. She’s not afraid to get dirty. I’ve seen her roll around in the grass
with Sophie all in the name of fun.
Did I mention that she sings? She has the most beautiful voice.
I don’t know much about music, but I think she’s a soprano. When I listen to her,
it’s like I’ve been transported to the time and place she’s singing about. She feels
every word of the song. She truly is amazing. I couldn’t imagine my life without
her.
What would that person say about you?
That I’m the bane of her existence and a good father. She’d also
say I’m good in bed. If she reads this, I’m going to pay for that last comment.
What special skills do you rely on?
According to Jessica, I’m a pro at picking up women. Believe
it or not, it becomes an important part of my story.
Are you happy with the way your story ended? Why or why not?
Yes and that’s all you’re going to get out of me. You’ll have
to read it to find out more.

About the Writer

You have the length of a tweet (140 characters) to describe
yourself as a writer. Let’s see what you can do.
Writer of fun, small town contemporary romance with some spice.
Why did you choose to write about this character?
I’ve had a fascination with the character Kyle Chandler played
on Friday Night Lights for a long time. I loved the idea of a high school football
coach struggling to balance his family and his responsibilities to the team and
town. Out of this idea, Eric Mason was born.
Was there anything you discovered about this character that
was a surprise to you?
I thought because he had been married that it would be easier
for him to fall in love again. As I was writing, I discovered that he had some abandonment
issues. He was afraid of being left behind. Because of his fear, he had a hard time
allowing himself to fall for Jessica.
Why do you write?
I have so many stories to tell. There are characters just waiting
to hit the page.
Are any sequels planned for this book?
No sequels to this particular one, but I have more Lincoln Falls
books in the works that will focus on other characters so stay tuned.
