The Warrior in Me a new #SciFiRomance by @AnitaPhilmar #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

Anita Philmar likes to create stories that push the limit. A writer by day and a dreamer by night she wants her readers to see the world in a new way.
Influenced by old movies, she likes to develop places where anything can happen and where special moments come to life in a great read.
    Naughty or Nice?
    Read her books and decide.

    Interview with Anita Philmar

Why did you write this book?
I have been fascinated with the question of whether or not Neanderthal DNA was in the human genome. I know it is a geeky thing to get hung up on, but I liked science in school. After reading the journey of the scientist Doctor Svante Paabo that made the discovery, I had to find a way to create a book about it. This led me on a journey to incorporate science with fiction. Wow, was it fun and it’s not over. This is the 1st book in the series.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I enjoy romantic suspense and love having them with an element of the paranormal which is exactly what The Warrior in Me represents.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
    I really like Wolverine.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
At the moment, I working on the last book in my series – The Cowboys of Naked Bluff, Texas. It is a western, historical suspense that is very hot.  I’m hoping to have it out in January, but the holiday always seem to put me behind.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Special Security Agent Sebastian Berlin is eager to track down his partner’s killer. Instead, he’s assigned the job of baby-sitting a scientist. His boss thinks she’s the key to an Ancient Warrior Prophecy. Science never interested Sebastian, but the know-it-all female standing at the end of his Alaskan dock could persuade him to do a little experimenting. That is, if he can keep his Neanderthal Warrior genes from taking control.
DNA specialist Lily Sinclair is in need of a vacation, or so her over-protective ex-husband tells her. Arriving in chilly Alaska instead of sunny Cancun, she’s tired and cranky and so not in the mood for her bodyguard’s he-man tactics. Still, there’s something about the sexy eye-candy that makes her want to lick him all over even as she’s demanding to go home.
Then Lily’s ex is poisoned, and Sebastian is certain the two murders are connected and she could be next. She knows he’s hiding something, but with the worldwide release of Neanderthal DNA project only days away, she has no choice but to trust him to protect her. But can she trust him with her heart?

    Renegades: The Wildblood (Book 2) #postapocalyptic @HoagSheila #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

    S. A. Hoag is an author, lapidary artist, very amateur astronomer (“I just look at the stars, I can’t tell you their names.”), hockey fan, and accidental desert-dweller. Born in the middle of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, she has lived in a number of cities, in a number of states, before crash-landing in the New Mexico desert. Not Roswell, however. Science Fiction has always been her first interest in reading and writing; many other genres sneak into the novels and that’s alright with her.

    Interview with S.A. Hoag

Why did you write this book?
It’s book 2 of a series, I’m just not finished with this story, yet.
What is your favorite genre to read?
    Sci-fi.  Any sub-genre is fine!
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Just one?  I love the bad guys, the protagonists, the damaged souls that can’t save themselves.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’ve got an untitled sci-fi in progress.  It’s an apocalypse, dimensional shift thing.  Also, Book 3 of The Wildblood, which I hope to have released next summer.  The series is going to have novellas appearing as I can finish them.
Please tell us about your latest book.
They made you strong, and smart. We kept you safe, and in the shadows. It took them damned near twenty years to find you.
    Uncontrollable. Unpredictable. Dangerous.
    The Wildblood.
Now, Team Three know what they are.
Renegades: Book 2 of The Wildblood takes up with Team Three not at all convinced the search for the truth about themselves is over.
Protecting their home, an isolated northern stronghold known as The Vista, has been the first duty of Team Three. Now they scatter across the Front Range of a post-apocalyptic North America, in an attempt to determine where their enemies are hidden and if they have any true allies.
It’s rumored that Team Three has gone renegade. With Wade in Colorado, Shannon in parts unknown, and Mac running the Cody base outside of The Vista’s jurisdiction, it looks like it’s possible.
Out among clans of the Altered, and cities where civilization has held ground, their efforts to establish The Vista’s domain create unique conflicts and unexpected help. One of the most pressing obstacle turns out to be their own governing council, a threat as real and dangerous as the nomads of the outlands. Forced to face the consequences of their actions, Team Three has run out of options.

Stressing the Hero from Dating an Alien Pop Star #scifiromance by @kendrybird #RLFblog

Stressing the Hero from Dating an Alien Pop Star by Kendra L. Saunders.

    Author Bio

Kendra L. Saunders is a time-and-space traveling fashionista author who writes books about magical, dark-haired men, interviews famous people, and suggests way too many bands to you via whatever social media platform she can get her hands on. She writes with good humor, because humor is the best weapon for a girl who can’t learn karate (or ballroom dancing).

    About the Book

Title: Dating an Alien Pop Star
    Genre: Scifi Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Daisy Kirkwood has only just escaped her small-town life and run away to New York City, the land of last-minute secret gigs at famous musical venues, when she’s kidnapped by aliens. Unfortunately, no one ever writes about how to handle alien abduction in those fancy NYC guidebooks.
Griffin and Dev are supermassively sexy aliens from a politically and environmentally troubled planet who arrive on Earth with very little knowledge about human ways other than what they learned from a wayward E! News signal. Their mission is to pretend to be the most influential people on the planet—English pop stars, of course!—and gain the help of a powerful secret society. Upon arriving, they abduct Daisy Kirkwood, a nerdy young woman who loves music but could seriously use a bit of help in the love-life department. Though Griffin and Daisy initially squabble, neither can deny the intergalactic sparks whenever they’re too close to each other. Together, they must face murderous aliens, cultural misunderstandings, bad backup musicians, and the dark side of fame and the media, all set against a tight deadline…
Part High Fidelity, part Bridget Jones’ Diary, part Doctor Who, Dating an Alien Pop Star is a sexy romantic comedy.

    Stressing The Hero

Every hero has a story. He has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a hero and get to know him better, by focusing on how he handles being relaxed, as well as how he handles stress.

    The Hero’s Relaxed Side

This hero is at a party. Considering his story, describe the party.
Griffin goes to many parties, because of being a famous pop star when he’s here on Earth, so I can definitely imagine him at a posh afterparty for some kind of music awards! It would be dimly-lit, well catered, packed with booze, and very, very lush and luxurious.
How does the hero feel about being this particular party, and what body language is he displaying that gives it away?
Excited to be in a room with famous faces he recognizes from his time studying Earth’s culture. A little nervous. Probably a little drunk. He would be twitchy and fluttery, but definitely smiling. And trying to watch what everyone is doing, so he doesn’t miss anything!
Is he more likely to mingle or remain aloof?
Mingle, for sure. In fact, he’d want to be the life of the party.
If he drinks, what is his drink of choice at this party?
Champagne. He loves champagne, and never realizes how much is too much until it’s too late.
How much drink is his usual?
Two glasses, at which time he’s buzzed and flushed, and probably giggly.
The hero figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?
Griffin would want to drag his best friend Dev out into the party. Dev is a bit more reserved in groups of strangers, so he’d probably sit out most of the craziness. Griffin would want to make him join the fun!
Is he likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is he the friend that others latch onto?
Griffin usually latches onto one person, namely his best friend Dev, but he would still be able to pay plenty of attention to any and everyone around him. He has a capacity for paying attention to many people at once, even while holding Dev close like a safety blanket.
If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the hero going to handle it?
Griffin would most likely step in if he saw something happen that he deemed unjust or unfair. He’s empathetic and has a strong sense of morals when it comes to people getting bullied or mistreated, and he isn’t afraid to use his alien “powers” on Earth people if needed.
Is the hero the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
Griffin wouldn’t toss anyone out of a party, but here on Earth, he wouldn’t be tossed out either. He’s too famous for that. But on some other planet? He’s been tossed out of a few places, sure…
Will he know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of himself?
Griffin will leave whenever he damn well pleases. He’s a pop star, thank you very much, so his timing is always perfect.

    The Hero’s Stressed Out Side

How does the hero handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls him aside when he was blameless in a situation?
Griffin was raised as a prince on his home planet, and many times over his life, he’s been in danger. His first reaction to an authority pulling him aside is to believe that they are protecting him. If, however, he found out that he was being blamed for something he didn’t do, on Earth, he would remind the police that he is a famous pop star and insist on being released immediately.
How does the hero react to hearing a scream?
Griffin would perk up if he thought someone was in danger. He has empathetic healing abilities, so he reacts strongly to someone who is in pain or in need of help.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses his mind?
“How can I help this person?”
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing he does?
Runs right into the fray, potentially getting himself in a dangerous situation, given he is slender and on the petite size, and not much help in a physical fight.
This hero attempts to rescue someone and realizes that he is in over his head. The odds are against him and there is no way out. He is going to get his butt handed to him. What does he do?
Gathers all of his energy together and focuses it on one last burst of power… this will either get him out of trouble or cause him to self destruct, but either way, it should stop the bad guy.
The hero runs into the one person from his past he wanted to avoid. He can’t get out of the situation and must interact with him/her in some way. What does he do?
Confronts them before they can say anything, and tries to act as brave and confident as possible. He probably fails.
Someone younger than the hero is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the hero deal with it?
Griffin wouldn’t pay much attention to age in a situation like that. If someone is doing a bad job, he would try to step in and help, regardless of their age. He is not an alpha male, though, so his version of stepping in would involve suggestions and offers to help, rather than forcing his way in.
The hero is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does he tell himself in order to get through the situation?
Griffin would remind himself of the people he loves most, and how much they need him. He would also think of his mother, who he lost as a child, and what would make her most proud of him to do.
What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?
“There is always kindness. You can always find strength in kindness,” Griffin’s mother’s words.
What lesson from his past gets him through a stressful situation?
Griffin remembers that his Mum had grace and dignity in the face of challenges, and he strives to be like her when he faces similar situations.

Stressing the Hero from Surrender, Coalition Mates book 4 by Sarah Marsh.

    Author Bio

Sarah Marsh was born in British Columbia where she still lives, she has only recently began her writing career finding it the perfect outlet for taking the edge off a nine to five office job. She’s been a science fiction and romance junkie for years and when her imagination started to take the characters she’d read about even further in their adventures she decided to try writing something of her own.
Sarah’s also a former pastry chef and spends a lot of time cooking and baking for friends and family as well as painting and knitting. Her biggest weaknesses are animals of any kind…she even loves the ones that wake you up at four in the morning because they can almost see the bottom of their food dish.
When it comes to life in general she’s a big believer that laughter is the best medicine and that there’s no such thing as too much love, which is why she’s such a sucker for a happy ending.

However, when he meets the audacious and beautiful Sally he finds himself signing up to be the one to mentor her against his better judgement. Will Sally’s painful past keep her from finding a future with the man who’s like no other she’s ever met? Or will she have the strength to place her body and soul in Arkenon’s extremely capable hands?

    Stressing The Hero

Every hero has a story. He has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a hero and get to know him better, by focusing on how he handles being relaxed, as well as how he handles stress.

    The Hero’s Relaxed Side

This hero is at a party. Considering his story, describe the party.
Any party that the Courtesan Guild on Sirus throws is a lavish affair, some are hedonistic while others are centered on traditions and formalities, depending on the occasion.
How does the hero feel about being this particular party, and what body language is he displaying that gives it away?
As the Guild Master it’s not only part of Arkenon’s job to put others at ease in any situation, but as he had taken over this position from his father before him, it’s also a large part of who he is and how he was raised. He has been trained to be in full control of his body language and is a master at only giving away what he intends to.
Is he more likely to mingle or remain aloof?
Ark would be mingling with everyone in attendance, always charming and alluring, making each guest feel welcome and cherished.
If he drinks, what is his drink of choice at this party?
At home with his friends he enjoys a nice cold ale, but at a formal Guild event he would sip on fine liquor.
How much drink is his usual?
Ark never drinks enough that he would be intoxicated; his need for control is too precise for that.
The hero figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?
Never one to hide from anything, if he is seeking out a hiding place then it would most likely be to coax out the person who is there.
Is he likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is he the friend that others latch onto?
Arkenon’s magnetism and charismatic personality ensures that he always has admirers flocking to him.
If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the hero going to handle it?
Diplomatically if he can, most likely charming the aggressive party goer into distraction and diffusing the situation.
Is the hero the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
No one tosses a Master Courtesan out of a party. ;-)
Will he know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of himself?
He stays long enough to do his duty.

    The Hero’s Stressed Out Side

How does the hero handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls him aside when he was blameless in a situation?
He is a formidable diplomat, he would calmly explain the misunderstanding and be respectful of the authorities.
How does the hero react to hearing a scream?
Ark is used to being responsible for a huge community of people, he would no doubt investigate to see if he could be of assistance.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses his mind?
Outrage, he cannot abide any kind of abuse.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing he does?
He would immediately interfere on behalf of the victim.
This hero attempts to rescue someone and realizes that he is in over his head. The odds are against him and there is no way out. He is going to get his butt handed to him. What does he do?
If he must sacrifice himself to rescue someone, he would.
The hero runs into the one person from his past he wanted to avoid. He can’t get out of the situation and must interact with him/her in some way. What does he do?
Arkenon will always try to be polite and professional if he can, but he is no pushover, he will speak his mind if he must and send the unwanted person on their way.
Someone younger than the hero is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the hero deal with it?
Before he became Guild Master he spent years teaching others the skills required to become Courtesans in the Guild, so he knows how to assist and guide without undermining someones confidence or coming across overbearing.
The hero is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does he tell himself in order to get through the situation?
Pain is relative, it will pass, but the lessons it imparts will always remain.
What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?
“There was never such a foolish thing done in love, which love could not undo.”
What lesson from his past gets him through a stressful situation?
His father taught him to always be in control of his own reactions, to think first, and act second.

Anne is a gorgeous supermodel who writes romance in her spare time while jetting around Europe with a string of boy-toys in tow.
Hmmm… no one is going to believe that. How about this?
Anne is an undercover agent for a super-secret government agency and when not saving the world for democracy and all the good people, she writes romance one-handed on a special mini-computer designed by a mad scientist just for her.
Yeah, that sounds way better. So, ignore the people who tell you she’s just an ordinary person with an extraordinary imagination. They’re just jealous because she gets to play with James Bond and vacation in exotic locations.
    Honestly!
When she’s not busy saving the world or writing the next great novel, she likes to kayak, hike, ride motorcycles, swim, skate, practice karate, play her guitar, sing and of course, read.
