Mitch Weston The Lawman’s Christmas Proposal by @BarbaraWDaille #RLFblog #contemporaryromance

A Character Sketch includes character information, book
cover, blurb, buy links, and social media contacts for the author.

    Interview with Mitch Weston

    Tell us about yourself,
    please.
Mitch Weston. LA cop. Now sidelined by an undercover op that
got shot to hell. That got my partner killed, thanks to me. That left me one of
the walking wounded, in more ways than one.
According to my department-assigned shrink, I need to talk things
out. Problem is, I’m not much of a talker. I’m a doer. Though not lately.
    Authors call what you
want but cannot have “the conflict” — what is yours?
You sound like my shrink. (Smiles.) No offense.
Where do you want me to start?
I want to go back in time and reverse what happened in LA –but
    I can’t.
I want to go even further back, to my teens, and prevent what
happened then –when the girl I loved walked away without a second glance. Can’t
do that, either. And currently, that girl –that woman –is in my life again…temporarily.
But this time around, I can’t get her to give me even a first glance.
Most of all, I want to trust my instincts. But… (shrugs) I’d
imagine you can fill in the blank.
Drawing from my shrink sessions again…am I bitter? Maybe. Frustrated?
For sure. Heartsick? That’s not something you’ll ever hear me admit.
What can you not do (but
need to do) during this story?
Redeem myself. Trust my instincts again. Convince Andi to let
me help her, to protect her. Because it’s what I do.
    What inner doubt causes
    you the most difficulty?
Why didn’t I push harder to follow my instincts when I had the
    chance?
In the story world your author created, explain what it is you
    fear most and why.
Not being 100% again. Not getting the girl I’ve always loved…
Though current events have shown me that not
    getting
Andi means I’ve never hit 100%.
    Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
Going by the previous answer, I guess we’d say Andi makes me
    whole.
    What is your family like?
Great. Dad’s a sheriff; he understands what I’m going through.
    Mom’s…Mom. She just understands me,
even when I don’t understand myself. I’m the oldest of five, and now I’m back home
again, I see the caring, the concern from everyone. The family’s need to make me
all better again. And their strange reluctance to mention the elephant in the room.
    What special skills do
    you rely on?
Whatever it takes to be a cop. Everything I heard from my dad
and grandfather, both career sheriffs. Everything I learned in the academy. Everything
I’ve picked up since –from fellow officers, from my former partners, from felons
    I’ve put away.
    Why are you happy with
    the way your story ended?
Are you kidding? This is a romance. (Smiles at Andi.)
I’m happy to get back to the job I’ve always wanted and to get the girl I’ve always loved.

    About the Writer

Barbara White Daille lives with her husband in the sunny Southwest.
Though they love the warm winters and the lizards in their front yard, they haven’t
gotten used to the scorpions in the bathroom.
Barbara’s new series, The Hitching Post Hotel, features a matchmaking
grandpa determined to see his three granddaughters wed. The series began with The
Cowboy’s Little Surprise and A Rancher of Her Own, and The Lawman’s Christmas Proposal
has just debuted. Additional books in the series will be coming up next year.
    What was your biggest
    challenge in writing this book?
Mitch himself. He didn’t want to open up to Andi…to the department
psychiatrist…or to me. The emotional hurdles he had to overcome made it tough
for me know how to tell his story and resolve his conflicts. I hope I’ve done them
    –and him –justice.
    Why did you choose this
    character for the interview today?
To prove to him he’s a better man than he thinks he is.
    When writing the book,
what did you discover about this character that surprised you?
His heart. He’s tough when he has to be –and as a cop, he often
has to be. He’s short with people sometimes, but that’s part of his policeman’s
persona, too. Underneath it all, he’s got every attribute Andi deserves in her hero.
    Are any sequels planned
    for this book?
This is the third book in The Hitching Post Hotel series. All
my books are stand-alones, which mean (for me, anyhow), every hero and heroine reaches
a happy-ever-after in their book. But yes, there are additional books planned. Cowboy in Conflict will be out in July, and
there will be at least two more books in the series. And you’ll get to see Mitch
    and Andi again.
    What genre(s) would you
like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
Romantic suspense…mystery…women’s fiction… There are many
stories in my head waiting to be told.
    Why should readers who
haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
As I said above, this is a stand-alone story, so readers don’t
    need to read the books in order. Mitch is trying to recover from a catastrophe;
Andi has a traumatic past of her own. Along with these emotional story threads,
there’s a lighter element to the book. Andi’s elderly grandfather (a recurring character
in the series) and both their families are matchmaking to bring Mitch and Andi together.
And there’s also a fake-fiancee agreement that goes horribly wrong.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your readers?
Just something they may have heard from me before:
I’m a life-long reader and book lover, and I hope my stories
will give my readers as much pleasure as other authors’ books have given me.

his ex-wife ripped his heart out. She doesn’t follow the court rules where his children
are concerned, making him even more pissed off. Harboring a bad attitude, he wishes
he wasn’t a gentleman when he comes to the aid of a quick-tempered, sexy blonde.
He can’t allow her tight jeans and sweet smile to sway him, even after he’s coerced
into spending time alone with her. Fighting the torturous battle going on within
his own mind and body, he can either deal with it—or succumb to the woman who appears
to be everything he didn’t know he needed.
In an attempt to save her rebellious teen sister from herself—as
her guardian, Brenna Page leaves everything behind and moves to Canyon Junction,
Arizona. When she unexpectedly meets a hot-headed cowboy with intense blue eyes
and muscles to die for, the first thing she wants to do is get away. Since she can’t
seem to shake him, Brenna wonders if that same grudge-filled cowboy with an attitude
is someone worth taking on. But still dealing with painful memories, and a sister
who wants nothing to do with Arizona, the last thing she needs right now is a horse
    ranching cowboy interfering.

    #amreading Of the Cowboy’s Own Accord a new #Western by @maryjdressel #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and
    introduces the story.

    About the Author

    Early
days of reading romance novels and women’s fiction laid the groundwork for Mary
to take up the pen and write her own memorable love stories where love always
wins. Her novels are emotional and compelling, and characters don’t have an
easy time getting what they want, but their reward is sexy and sweet. In a
lighter style Mary prefers to write more romantic and sensual love stories. She
loves to write stories with strong family ties, lasting friendships, gentlemen
heroes with a touch of bad, and feisty women who know how to handle them.
Her home is in the Great Lake Basin area in
the U.S.A. Two grown sons and an Australian Shepherd fur-baby dog complete her

mailing list for readers who want to be notified of new releases and important
book updates. Visit her website for more information.

    Interview with Mary J. McCoy-Dressel

    Why did you write
    this book?
Dane Carlson wouldn’t be quiet until he got his own story. Of
the Cowboy’s Own Accord is about the third and youngest brother in my Double
Dutch Ranch Series: Love at First Sight. Since this is a series, I wanted each brother to have their own book. Dane’s
story definitely had to be told.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
I like reading a variety of contemporary romance genres—romantic
suspense, military, and an occasional erotic romance, but my favorite is contemporary western romance. Love those cowboys.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Darn! Even picking one of my own would be difficult. I began
reading romance novels with Kathleen E. Woodiwiss and Rosemary Rogers. Yes, way
back then. In truth, I’ve read and enjoyed too many books to choose just one
favorite character. I call most of them my favorite by time I get to the end of
    a book.
    What are you working
on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
Due to being sick recently and preparing to move, I’m
supposed to be taking a break, but I began two books that I know readers are
waiting for. The first is the fifth book in the Double Dutch Ranch Series, and
the other is book three in the Bull Rider Series. When life mellows out, I’ll
dedicate my time to one of those books instead of trying to work on both at the
same time. More than likely, book three in the Bull Rider Series will be that
book. If only my characters from the ranch will leave me alone long enough.
    This is doubtful.
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.

Of the Cowboy’s Own Accord is the fourth book in this
sensual western romance series and numbered three. How can it be number three
when this is the fourth book? I wrote a mid-length novel numbered 1.5 in the
    series—a follow-up to book one.
    Blurb:
    Army Ranger Dane Carlson never
means to fall in love before leaving
for another tour of duty, but unexpectedly, he does. While deployed, he finds
himself being sent home early to the family ranch to make a heartrending
decision. Little does he know he isn’t the only
one making decisions. His first priority is to rekindle the flame after losing
communication with Gracelyn Clark. The woman who owns his heart and has since
the moment their gaze connects. But now, nothing is the same as when they met.
The first round of news is surprise
enough, yet Gracelyn continues to release shocking information detrimental to
their future. Can they make it work
after so few days together seven months ago? Adjusting to many new things in
his life isn’t easy as it is, so to pull himself back to the man he’s become, could be the biggest test of all—in
    order to protect his own.
Challenges abound even as Dane and
Gracelyn come to terms with the decisions they’ve made. Whatever tomorrow
    brings, their only choice is
acceptance—to take one day at a time and face life as it comes.

    The Cowboy’s Little Surprise @BarbaraWDaille #RLFblog #romance

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces
    the story.

    About the Author

Barbara White Daille lives with her
husband in the sunny U.S. Southwest, where they don’t mind the lizards in their
front yard but could do without the scorpions in the bathroom.
A writer from the age of nine and a
novelist since eighth grade, Barbara is now an award-winning author with a number
    of novels to her credit.
The first book in The Hitching Post
Hotel series, The Cowboy’s Little Surprise, was just released (April 2015) and will
be followed by A Rancher of Her Own in July and an as-yet-untitled book in December.

    Interview with Barbara White Daille

Why did you write this book?
I loved the idea of a matchmaking grandpa
and was so happy that my editors liked it, too! That was how the new series was
conceived. As for this first book, The Cowboy’s Little Surprise, one of my favorite
romance plotlines is the second-chance story, where the hero and heroine have had
a past relationship that didn’t work out and are now brought together under less
    than the best of circumstances.
A subcategory of second chances is the
secret-baby story, in which the past relationship results in the heroine becoming
pregnant by the hero, who never learns until the current story that he’s become
a daddy. When I wanted a hero and heroine for the grandfather’s first matchmaking
scheme, the secret-baby story just seemed like a natural.
What is your favorite genre to read?
         Romance!
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including
    your own)?
This is a tough question as there’s
such a long list to choose from. So…I think I’ll regress a bit and pick someone
from my favorite childhood books—Nancy Drew. She solved so many fascinating mysteries
and, later in the series, traveled to so many wonderful places with her friends.
And she was smart at figuring out clues. I always wanted to be her when I grew up.
What are you working on at the moment, and what will we see
    from you in coming months?
I’m currently working on revisions for
book 3 in the Hitching Post Hotel series. It has no title yet but will be out in
December 2015. This is the story of Jed Garland’s middle granddaughter and the one
he’s almost certain is going to spoil his matchmaking record.
Andi was recently widowed and left with
two small children. Mitch is an L.A. cop recovering from an undercover op gone bad.
He returns to his hometown of Cowboy Creek to recuperate, and there he finds his
teenaged crush back again, too. He wants nothing to do with the girl who walked
off and broke his heart one summer…but of course, our matchmaking grandpa doesn’t
intend to let that stop him!
Please tell us about your latest book.
The Cowboy’s Little Surprise is book
1 in the Hitching Post Hotel series.
    The Long Way Home

    Accidentally Writing a Series @authorkristina #RLFblog #western

I probably shouldn’t admit this, but
I never set out to write a trilogy about three sisters who grew up and apart in
Texas. I started out wanting to write Kathleen’s story – the story of a modern woman
who isn’t afraid to take what she wants in business but is very much afraid of admitting
what she wants for herself. Then I started to write that story and new people started
    cropping up, namely her sisters.

There was Vanessa, who was spoiled
and lost and eversoslightly demanding. There was Monica who thought she had everything
    – a great career, a man waiting at home – she could ever want. And neither one would
leave me along long enough to get a firm handle on Kathleen’s story. So I started
writing down bits of backstory for Vanessa and Monica in separate files – enough
to keep them happy, not enough to take the spotlight away from Kathleen – and kept
    pushing forward.
The more I wrote down bits of Vanessa’s
and Monica’s stories, the more I wanted to tell their stories, too. Not because
I didn’t love Kathleen, but because I loved Kathleen. She was getting her happily
ever after and while her story was a fun one to tell, I felt badly that Vanessa
and Monica were stuck in a kind of romance-limbo. So, I fiddled a little more and
wondered what could be the absolute worst thing that could happen for each of them.
And then I did what is probably the
scariest thing I’ve ever done (at least so far): I sent my editor a proposal based
on rough character sketches, a sample chapter and what can never be called actual
synopsis’ – and not just because the final drafts of the stories only loosely resemble
them. The second scariest moment: when my editor emailed to say she loved the ideas
and wanted me to write the stories. And attached two contracts to the email. Signing
a contract for two books that were still mostly in my head? Freaky!
But, I wrote and wrote and revised
and I did get to tell Vanessa and Monica’s stories – and a little birdie tells me
I may even have made my editor a little weepy at one point.
For a limited time, all three of those
original books – What a Texas Girl Wants, What a Texas Girl Needs and What a Texas
Girl Dreams – are available in one boxed set called Texas Wishes ~ and you can put
them all on your e-reader for $0.99! What a steal!
Kristina Knight turns up the heat
under the Texas sun with three cowboys ready to rope your heart and the feisty
ladies who wrangle them. Enjoy a boot-stomping good time with these captivating
    couples.

    About the Book

What a Texas Girl Wants: The last thing Jackson Taylor wants
in his life is a down-to-earth girl like Kathleen Witte, so why did he just
wake up next to her on a Mexican beach with a ring on his finger? Once they’re
back in Texas though, this all-business marriage might just turn into an all-consuming
    love.
What a Texas Girl Needs: Matias Barnes knows all about
society women like Vanessa Witte. It’s part of the reason he left his wealthy
family behind and took a job on a ranch. But while Mat knows she’s so not right
for him, can he resist her charms long enough to really let her go?
What a Texas Girl Dreams: They are opposites in so many
ways, but the more veterinarian Trickett Samuels gets to know footloose and
fancy free Monica Witte, the more he wonders if he can convince this Texas girl
that having roots will only help her soar higher.

    Barbara White Daille Cowboy’s Little Surprise @BarbaraWDaille #RLFblog #cowboys

Barbara White Daille author of The Cowboy’s Little Surprise answers
five easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Barbara White Daille lives with her husband in the sunny U.S.
Southwest, where they don’t mind the lizards in their front yard but could do without
    the scorpions in the bathroom.
A writer from the age of nine and a novelist since eighth grade,
Barbara is now an award-winning author with a number of novels to her credit.
The first book in The Hitching Post Hotel series, The Cowboy’s
Little Surprise, debuts in April 2015, followed by A Rancher of Her Own in July
and an as-yet-untitled book in December.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
Romance, romantic suspense, mystery. Sometimes YA. Whatever it
is, I like something with a romantic relationship in it.
    What’s your favorite down-home
    family style meal?
Pot roast with carrots, potatoes, onions, and brown gravy, with
plenty of everything for leftovers. Yum!
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
Really, Alaskan King crab legs, but since they’re pricey, I only
do that if we’re celebrating something special. On a regular night out, anything
Italian—lasagna, baked ziti, stuffed shells. A salad on the side. A full bread basket
with warm olive oil and herbs. My only regret is most Italian restaurants don’t
    serve brownies or chocolate cake!
    Describe the perfect vacation.
A condo near a beach, where we could take long walks at night,
view the stars and listen to the surf. Nearby, there would have to be good restaurants,
an ice cream parlor, and a shop that sold decadent chocolate desserts. And of course,
I’d have to have access to many quiet, comfortable spots where I could curl up with
    a book.
    Tell us about your favorite
    toy as a child.
My favorite toy was a book. I don’t mean to “cheat,”
but I wasn’t into much of anything else. I spent all my free time reading—and wish
I could still do that now. A book was always at the top of my list when anyone asked
what I wanted for my birthday or Christmas, and I loved loved LOVED getting the
next Bobbsey Twins or Nancy Drew or Trixie Belden in the series.
