Meet David Quinn from Sun Storm by Marlow Kelly @want2write #RLFblog #RomanticSuspenseLet’s meet David Quinn from Sun Storm, a romantic suspense by Marlow Kelly. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Welcome David Quinn from Sun Storm, a new romantic suspense

    David Quinn
    Age: 33 years old
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Denver, Colorado
Profession: A beekeeper after spending 15 years with the US Army Special Forces
    Ethnicity:
    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters):
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
I’m 5’11 tall with sandy, shoulder-length hair, and a scruffy beard. I’m lean and fit. I have light green eyes, and can scare people with a look. My friends call that look my death stare. I was grazed by a bullet in Afghanistan which left me with a long scar across one side of my face. It parts my beard with a jagged white line.
Please tell us a little about your character.
I’m tired of killing, death and danger. I feel like I’ve been fighting my whole life. First when I killed my stepfather for abusing my twin sister. After that we ran away from home and lived rough on the streets of Granite City, Montana. I need some peace in my life. That’s why I didn’t want to get involved with Marie, but she was in trouble. I took one look at her soft brown eyes and knew I had to save her.
Who is the significant other in David Quinn’s life?
Dr. Marie Wilson is very pretty although she doesn’t seem to realize it. She’s also a genius with two PhD’s one in Mechanical engineering, and the other in organic chemistry. She’s been sheltered by her rich father, but has never been loved. She has invented a small solar panel that can fit into a backpack and generates enough electricity to power an office building. She’s very naive and doesn’t seem to realize the consequences of her actions. She thought everyone would welcome her invention, but she was wrong. There are powerful people who will kill to stop her prototype being commercially developed.
How educated is this character? Is he book smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
David received his GED while housed at a Granite City charity, Marshall House. He got his degree in business through the GoArmyEd program, which allows soldiers to earn their degree while serving.
Does he scrape by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
He’s not rich, but has enough money to survive. He’s a man with very few needs. He doesn’t care about clothes or luxuries. He owns a ten acre parcel of land near Missoula, Montana. There’s a small camper on the land and a stream nearby to bathe in. He owns five beehives, which is a great start to his beekeeping business.
What does he have a knack for doing?
Surviving. He’s the ultimate survivor. He survived the hardships of living on the streets and he also survived getting shot in the face when he was with the Special Forces.
What is your character’s family like?
David’s father died when he was eight. His mom remarried when he was twelve, and died a year later. When he was fourteen he caught his stepfather trying to rape his twin sister, Sinclair. The Twins ran away, and made it to Granite City before they ran out of money. When they were living on the street they met Michael and Tim. The four of them stuck together, looking after each other. Later they joined the army where they met Finn Callaghan. The five of them have been family ever since.
How do others perceive your character based upon looks? How true is this assumption?
He believes his facial scars reveal the monster he has become. He has a very threatening demeanor, which he developed as a teen when he was living on the streets. Most people are scared of him, which suits him just fine. He’s puzzled as to why Marie can see through his facade.
Does your character care about those assumptions?
No, he doesn’t care what anyone thinks, except Marie. He cares about her. In spite of himself he wants her to like him. He can’t help it. Without trying she has gotten under his skin.
What inner doubt causes your character the most difficulty?
He’s scared that his ability to survive translates into an ability to kill. He refuses to carry a weapon because he doesn’t want to kill anymore. He’s so tired of death.

About Your Writer: Questions for David Quinn to answer about you.

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer at least four of these questions.
Why do you think your writer chose to write about you?
Because she’s nuts. She could have written about a classically handsome man who was charming and had his act together, but she wrote about a burned out ex-soldier who’s struggling to come to terms with his actions in combat.
Why do you think your writer loves to write?
Once again, I think she’s nuts. She loves writing and at the same time she hates it. It’s a weird compulsion. One she wishes she could ignore. But the characters make up stories in her head, especially at night when she’s trying to sleep.
What other character from your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
She plans to write stories about all the members of my adopted family. We’re all street kids who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. We all have stories to tell about how we ended up on the street and how we’re going to find happiness. Tim’s story, Fire Storm, is next, and then she’s going to explore Michael and Sinclair’s romance in Wind Storm. The last book, Storm Surge, will be Finn and Kennedy’s story. She’s already written about how Finn and Kennedy met in the novella, The Wedding Deception.

    Gumshoe Girl by Andi Ramos @andiramos #RLFblog #NewRelease #romanticsuspense

Andi Ramos, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

    Gumshoe Girl by Andi Ramos

    Genre Romantic Suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
Sheagan O’Hare got more than she bargained for when her newly inherited detective agency lands its first case; a missing person, embezzlement, and murder. Sheagan’s out to prove she can hang with the pro’s, despite the constant reminder of her amateur status from an annoyingly attractive FBI agent, Colin ‘Mac’ MacEvine, who’s forced himself into her life.
How does she feel when an old high school friend hopes to ignite a new romance?
Will she be able to discover if detective work and love can mingle before someone gets hurt?
Why did you write this book?
It’s been a lifelong ambition to get my stories published, though until now I was dedicated to taking care of my family and raising my children. Now that my kids are teenagers, I am able to take this time to invest in myself and what I want from life. It’s important to show them to strive and reach for their dreams. I want to demonstrate that hard work and persistence can pay off.
What is your favorite genre to read?
My favorite stories are light, funny contemporaries or cozies. I like something I can pick up and put down when I need to. I love to be entertained when reading. When I can laugh out loud, and everyone around me thinks I’m crazy- that’s my best kind of romance story. I think the friends-to-enemies is my favorite troupe it tends to lend itself to comedy very well.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I know I should pick some great literary character from a well-know literary classic, but I’ll be honest I love Grandma Mazur from Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum Series. She is so fun and spunky, I want her to be my Grandma! “I kind of like being a slut” Grandma said “It beats the heck out of being an old lady” – Takedown Twenty by Janet Evanovich.
What are you working on at the moment?
I have a couple of works in progress including the second in the Gumshoe Girl Series. Sheagan will really have her work cut out for her as she tries to discover the truth behind alleged serial murders. I also have a new series I am working on called the Escape Series. The first book will be called The Pina Colada Catastrophe. I intended this new manuscript to be a contemporary romance, but as I write, I can’t help but weave elements of suspense throughout the story.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
I would love for Gumshoe Girl and/or The Pina Colada Catastrophe to be complete and ready to send to the publishers later on this year.

Meet Mason Harding from Arresting Mason by Amber Daulton @amberdaulton1 #RLFblog #RomanticSuspense

Meet Mason Harding from Arresting Mason by Amber Daulton @amberdaulton1 #RLFblog #RomanticSuspenseWelcome Mason from Arresting Mason, a new romantic suspense by Amber Daulton.

    Introducing Mason Harding

    Age: 29
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Aurora, Colorado
    Profession: Mechanic
    Ethnicity: Caucasian
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
Mason has dark brown spiky hair, emerald-green eyes, and a tan from his job. He’s six feet tall, muscled and tattooed, and a few old scars cover his chest.
Please tell us a little about your character.
Mason made some foolish mistakes as a teenager, and then ended up in jail. Though he joined a prison gang, he gave it up after the State released him on parole. He’s doing his best stay out of trouble, but the people from his past aren’t ready to let him go.
Who is the significant other in your character’s life?
Mia Eddison is a feisty boutique owner who sees past Mason’s hard, cocky shell for the kind, vulnerable man he is inside.
How educated is this character? Is he book smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
Mason dropped out of high school but earned his GED in prison. He used a lot of his spare time to read law books and literary classics in the prison library. Though he doesn’t have much formal education, he’s self-taught and highly intelligent.
What special skills does your character rely on?
Mason knows how to fight, and that comes in handy for him when he and Mia are in trouble.
What is your character’s family like?
Mason has an overprotective older brother, Alan, who is determined to make Mason walk a straight and narrow line. He has a young nephew who is absolutely adorable, and a former brother-in-law whom he considers a close friend. He’s not close with his parents, but Mia and Alan are trying to get him to reconcile with his mom.
Does this character see morality as black-and-white, or with shades of gray?
Shades of gray. He’s made too many mistakes and done too many bad things to see the world as straight forward as black-and-white.
How do others perceive your character based upon looks? How true is this assumption?
Most women find him hot and only care about the exterior packaging, and most men find him shady or dangerous. These assumptions are correct. Mason is one sexy man, and he’s hiding a bunch of secrets that could cost him his life. Deep down, however, he’s a good man and determined to do everything in his power to protect those he loves from his past.
Does your character care about those assumptions?
No. Mason doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him, except for Mia and his brother. He wants them to think of him as a good person.
What is your hero’s biggest personal flaw?
His temper. Mason gets angry way too quick and says things he regrets.
What is your hero’s breaking point?
Mason wants to live his life under the radar from cops and criminals alike, but when Mia’s life is threatened, he reverts to his old ways to save her. He would do anything for her, no matter the price to his own soul.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer at least four of these questions. Questions with more than one point should be considered one question. You may answer as many more as you like.
Why do you think your writer chose to write about you?
Because I’m sexy. No, not buyin’ that? All right, well, let’s see. I think my writer, Amber, chose to write about me because everyone deserves a second chance at life and to right their wrongs. I’ve made mistakes, I’ll be the first to admit it, and Amber wanted to show my redemption. I can’t thank her enough for it.
What do you wish your writer had not told others about you?
That’s a loaded question. Though I like Amber a lot, she deserves a spanking for revealing all the crap I’ve been through, but the main thing I wish she would’ve kept just between us is the incident in the shower room. I was still in prison at the time, and a few pricks attacked me. Though I managed to fight them off before they got what they wanted from me, it was the most humiliating experience of my life, and not something I wanted blasted all over the Internet. But since you can read about it in my book, I guess I’m all right with telling ya about it here.
When your writer is writing about you, what do you think makes your writer the most happy? What makes your writer the most sad?
Amber loves writing about me and Mia, either when we’re in the bedroom or just having dinner together. She’s a hopeless romantic. Each time she would write about my past, however, she would cry a little, and I know it hurt her to share my secrets.
What other character from your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Jim Borden, Mia’s arrogant brother and my parole officer, needs a lady love to knock him down a few pegs, and I would love to read that story! My brother, Alan, deserves a story too. He’s raising his son alone after his ex-wife skipped town, and I would do anything to see Alan happy with a good woman at his side.
Listen up, and I’ll let you in on a little secret. Amber is one smart cookie, and she’s already hard at work editing Jim’s and Alan’s stories. Just wait. They’re going to be great!

Is It True: A Dose of Danger by Kim McMahill @kimmcmahill #RLFblog #RomanticSuspense

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Kim McMahill, author of A Dose of Danger, a romantic suspense. This is a game with yes and no questions. Writers can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

Yes, waking up in the middle of the night with the perfect next scene is not that uncommon for me.

No, I currently live in Colorado, but grew up north of the border in Wyoming.
    you love to read?

    you are never late?
No, at least not very often.
    you love pizza?
Yes, my favorite is pepperoni and green chili and the thinner the crust the better. I even make my own in the summer when I have fresh tomatoes for my homemade sauce, but I have figured out how to get the crust as thin as I’d like.
    you love sushi?
Yes, but I prefer the non-raw varieties.
    you have a pet?
No, I probably will get another dog one day, but I’m still grieving the passing of my pup of fifteen years.

    Tatia’s Tattoo by Linda Brendle

    Genre Legal Thriller
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
As a successful D.C. lawyer, Tatia’s mission in life was to destroy the sex trafficking trade in small-town America. She knew where to find it. She’d been there. With only apathetic foster parents to protect her, she fell prey to the local pimp. Trapped in the sordid underbelly of a small Texas town, she survived by sheer will. Her friendship with her fellow victim Cindy was the only light of humanity in the darkness until she saw a familiar face. Would Mrs. G, a mama bear of an attorney, still think she had strength and potential? Would Jesse, the young Christian tattoo artist and biker, still look at her with a twinkle in his eyes? Or would they both see only the mark of shame Eric had etched onto her forearm?

    Where to buy Tatia’s Tattoo

Tatia’s Tattoo is scheduled to be released on or around July 1. I had hoped it would be available for pre-order by the time this posted. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Watch for details as soon as it is available.

I’m a life-begins-at-fifty kind of gal. I earned my Bachelors Degree at 51, I learned to ride a motorcycle at 55, and I published my first book, A Long and Winding Road: A Caregiver’s Tale of Life, Love, and Chaos, after I began collecting Social Security.
After fifteen years of caring for my parents, David and I moved to a tiny town in East Texas where I work part-time at my church, garden when the notion strikes, tend to the whims of the feral cat who took over our home in 2015, and write about all of the above.
I’ve been a blogger for a decade and a correspondent for our local newspaper for six years. My 2nd memoir, Mom’s Long Good-Bye: A Tale of Alzheimer’s, Grief, and Comfort, is due out later this year.
A common theme of all my books is “the least of these.” My experiences as a caregiver taught me that the aging and those suffering from dementia can definitely by called “the least of these.”
Several years ago a presentation at my church made me keenly aware of another group of “the least of these” – victims of child sex trafficking, especially in small-town America. That awakening led to the writing of Tatia’s Tattoo, due for release on or around July 1.
