Framily Ties in Enticing Hart: Mae Hancock @Hancockfiction #RLFblog #LGBT

    Enticing Hart
    by Mae Hancock
I think the family unit is considerably
different from how it once was in western society. A friend of mine calls this framily and I’m inclined to go with her on
this one because we so often see households made up of three or four generations.
Relatives from the extended family and friends make up part of this family = fr-amily. In the case of The Red Fox Ranch,
there is an absent mother and this leads to various people taking over the number
of functioning roles that a mother would usually perform.
Then, there are the friends who come
to live and make up the clan of people who have a common ground, similar ideology,
interests and who all love and look out for one another. I wanted the Red Fox Ranch
to reflect all of these new dimensions of the family and as the first story Enticing Hart and the series as a whole progresses,
readers will see the development of the ‘framily”.
On the idea of the family unit and
caring, another theme further explored in the story is that of looking after someone
who is ill. This is particularly difficult for a young person who is just finding
his or her feet in the world. I know from first hand experience, this can be stressful,
tiring; financially draining and can have a big impact on your social life. Most
of us work through illness with the help of other family members but I wanted to
convey what might happen when someone who is unscrupulous, probably even mentally
unbalanced, and in all likelihood has psychopathy, is then left to their own devices
in caring for someone who is vulnerable. Abuse of vulnerable people often goes unnoticed
as in this story. Fortunately the care for someone in my story extends outwards
from a family who is close to the victim of abuse and this corrects the imbalance.
I really enjoy exploring the dynamics
of family relationships, particularly over generations. In the case of the Red Fox
Ranch, grandma is accepting of her children’s sexuality and in many ways is a progressive
thinker. Nevertheless, she’s a cantankerous older lady who often speaks the truth
where it needs to be said. Oak loves his grandmother very much and she’s already
noticed the spark between him and Hart. She’s the elderly lady that is a keen observer
of human nature. She’s often aware that she’s a being difficult and plays on it
to her advantage or to find out more information from a situation. I think the older
lady is a universal character—we all know a ‘grandma’ type who has a twinkle in
her eye and is able to influence our actions because we believe she is older and
    wiser.
    Enticing Hart

    About the Book

Hart Emile is tired of cruising for
guys, living a soulless existence. He needs a change; so when an acquaintance gives
him the number of the gay friendly Red Fox Ranch that’s hiring for staff, he heads
    south.
Oak Redman is eighteen years old and
desperate to explore his awakening sexuality. The moment Hart lays eyes on the handsome
young rancher he’s smitten. Not only is Oak hot, spirited and very persistent, he
is also the ranch boss’s son and strictly off limits. Hart tries to fight his feelings
and to respect his boss and the family who quickly become dear to him, but after
Oak’s grandma suggests he gets with Oak he can’t deny himself the most exciting
and enticing man he has ever met.
Hart’s not the only man to have noticed
how sweet and charming Oak Redman is. A family friend, Steve, is also anxious to
have the affections of the young rancher. Can Hart work out Steve’s dark secrets
before it’s too late and keep his job, his lover and his life?

    1920s Romance: 4 Authors Share Their Passion @kathylwheeler #RLFblog

    Rebellious
    by Amanda McCabe
Before they introduce their stories, the four ladies have a question
    for readers:
    Amanda McCabe: What
era do you enjoy reading most?
    Alicia Dean: Do you
enjoy reading shorts/novellas or do you prefer complete novels?
    Krysta Scott: Do you
    prefer paperback or ebooks?
    Kathy L Wheeler: Do
you ever re-read your favorite books?
Before we dive into their stories, the four ladies want to share
    a fun fact:
Amanda McCabe: When I told my dad I was majoring in English Lit,
then mastering in Elizabethan Poetry, he demanded to know what I would do with those
degrees. I told him, “I’ll write romance!”
Alicia Dean: I normally only write contemporary, but I recently
released a Vintage romance set in 1957, and now I have this 1920’s story. Quite
    a departure for me.
Kathy L Wheeler: I just love a hero that has to work his tail
off for the heroine, because she deserves the best. In all of my stories, even when
the heroine needs saving, she’s usually saved herself just as the hero is busting
    down the door.
Krysta Scott: I am a science fiction geek. A dystopian world,
science mishap or paranormal creature are usually the subjects of my novels. Writing
about the twenties was quite a stretch for me. Amanda, Alicia and Kathy have been
quite gracious dealing with my lack of historical knowledge. I had a lot of fun
    writing this story.
Amanda McCabe, Alicia Dean, Kathy L Wheeler and Krysta Scott
have a unique friendship. Yes, they are all romance writers, and at different stages
in their writing careers. But every Friday night, schedules permitting, they meet
at the Martini Lounge in Edmond, Oklahoma where they chitchat, plan retreats to
get away and for just a general get away. Over a period of time the idea to create
a series of stories where the Martini Lounge would serve as a backdrop—well, as
writers, that was inevitable. So here we are with our first go at it. Welcome to
1920s New York City where four young women run away from England excited to make
their own way in a new world.
All four stories are now available for the pre-order price of
$0.99 until February 26, 2015, the official release.

Rebellious: Martini Club 4 Series – The 1920s

    Amanda McCabe
Can an aristocratic lady melt the cold heart of a Russian gangster?
Lady Jessica Hatton fled her high-society London debutante life
for one of investigative journalism in New York—only to be relegated to the fashion
pages. Searching for a juicy story leads her to Club 501, the city’s most glamorous
speakeasy—and its handsome, mysterious owner, Frank Markov. But his past of war
and revolution puts their hearts—and their lives—in danger…

    About the Author

Amanda McCabe wrote her first romance at the age of sixteen–a
vast historical epic starring all her friends as the characters, written secretly
during algebra class (and her parents wondered why math was not her strongest subject…)
She’s never since used algebra, but her books have been nominated
for many awards, including the RITA Award, the Romantic Times BOOK Reviews Reviewers’
Choice Award, the Booksellers Best, the National Readers Choice Award, and the Holt
Medallion. She lives in Oklahoma with a menagerie of two cats, a Pug, and a very
bossy miniature Poodle, along with far too many books.
When not writing or reading, she loves taking dance classes,
collecting cheesy travel souvenirs, and watching the Food Network–even though she
    doesn’t cook.

    Ruined
    by Alicia Dean
Blurb: She vowed she’d be no man’s doxy, but fate had other plans…
After the Earl of Goodwin attempts to force himself on her, housemaid
Eliza Gilbert flees England for New York, hoping to build a better life. But the
land of opportunity proves as harsh as the London docks, and she finds herself in
a situation more dreadful than the one she escaped.
Former boxer, Vince “The Fist” Taggart dreams of marrying,
having a family, and living a quiet, peaceful life. But when a girl he’s known since
childhood disappears, he heads to New York in search of her and meets Eliza, a woman
with a less than honorable reputation. Inexplicably captivated, Vince can’t force
himself to stay away, especially when he learns Eliza is the key to finding his
    missing friend.

    About the Author

Alicia Dean lives in Edmond, Oklahoma. She has three grown children
and a huge network of supportive friends and family. She writes mostly contemporary

MLB, NFL (she usually works in a mention of one or all three into her stories) and
watching her favorite televisions shows like Vampire Diaries, Justified, Sons of
Anarchy, Haven, The Mindy Project, and Dexter (even though it has sadly ended, she
will forever be a fan). Some of her favorite authors are Michael Connelly, Dennis
Lehane, Lee Child, Lisa Gardner, Sharon Sala, Jordan Dane, Ridley Pearson, Joseph

5 Easy Questions: Daughter He Wanted – Kristina Knight @AuthorKristina #RLFblog

    The Daughter He Wanted
    by Kristina Knight
Kristina Knight author of The Daughter He Wanted answers five
easy questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Once upon a time, Kristina Knight spent her days running from
car crash to fire to meetings with local police–no, she wasn’t a troublemaker,
she was a journalist. Her career took her all over the United States, writing about
everything from a serial killer’s capture to the National Finals Rodeo. Along the
way she found her very own Knight in Shining Cowboy Boots and an abiding love for
romance novels. And just like the characters from her favorite books, she’s living
    her own happily ever after.
Kristina writes sassy contemporary romance novels; her books
have appeared on Kindle Best Seller Lists. She loves hearing from readers, so drop
    her a line!
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
Chicken Fajitas! We eat a LOT of Mexican food and authentic fajitas
are the best…but even the fajitas made at chains like Max & Erma’s are amazing.
    Mmmm…now I’m hungry.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
It would include a warm-but-not-suffocating beach, RadioMan,
probably a strawberry daquiri. Plenty of family time with bebe, but also plenty
of Adults Only time, too. :D
    Tell us about your favorite
    toy as a child.
Gosh, there were so many…the one that always makes me smile,
though, is my first pair of ‘real’ roller skates – you know the kind that were actual
boots, not those plastic-y, stretchable skates that fit over my shows. Oh, I skated
    everywhere that year.
    What are your hobbies?
I love swimming, in fact I teach a class (aqua aerobics and deep
water run) at our local Y. And travel, although I don’t think I travel enough to
actually call that a hobby, lol.
If the hero of your latest
book called you on the phone, what would be a perfect ringtone for him?
Gonna Wanna Tonight by Chase Rice. Alex, my hero, is kind of
coming back to live in the book and this fits him. For a long time he hasn’t wanted
to do anything and now it’s all coming back and he wants everything…

    About the Book

The Daughter He Wanted, Contemporary Romance, Kristina Knight,
    R
    The Daddy Surprise
Since the loss of his wife, Alex Ryan has been living a half-life.
But with one phone call, Alex discovers he’s the biological father of a four-year-old
    girl…and everything changes.
As far as single mom Paige Kenner is concerned, it’s a nightmare.
She wanted a family without the man. Now suddenly there’s Alex, who desperately
wants to be a father to her little girl. A gorgeous, kind and committed father.
Letting a stranger into their lives is far too dangerous-especially if his presence
stirs a part of Paige that she longs to forget…

    Character Interview: A Bit of Heaven @LaurenLinwood #RLFblog #medieval

A Bit of Heaven on Earth
    by Lauren Linwood
The character interview allows a hero or heroine to tell readers
about himself or herself. Today’s interview is with Gavin of Ashgrove.
    Tell us about yourself,
    please.
I am Lord Gavin of Ashgrove—or I was. I went to fight with the
Black Prince in England’s war against France and was captured in a battle where
we were far outnumbered. The French sent a ransom demand to my father. He refused
to pay it. I spent two years in a squalid prison until a sympathetic priest helped
me escape. I returned and confronted my father, wondering at his cruelty. He told
me my mother was dead, that I was a bastard, and I no longer could lay claim to
    my good name or lands.
    In the story world your
author created, explain what it is you fear most and why.
I fear that I have no place in this world. My entire identity
has been ripped from me. With my mother dead, I cannot ask her who my true sire
was. I have lost my name, my lands, my fortune—and now I have lost my heart to a
woman I can never marry. I do not know if this life is worth living if I cannot
    have her by my side.
    Tell us about your significant
other, that person who makes living worthwhile.
Elizabeth of Kentwood has claimed my heart. When my father banned
me from Ashgrove, I turned to Lord Aldred, whom I fostered with as a boy and who
has been England’s greatest warrior. I sought his sage advice. I came to Kentwood
to find Aldred now an old man, close to death, and his estate run by his much younger
wife, a famed and opinionated beauty. At first, Elizabeth and I butted heads like
rams. Then I came to know her, and it led to love. But with no children, Kentwood
will revert to King Edward, and he shall name a new husband for Elizabeth soon after
Aldred’s death. I know that Edward would never hear my suit, for I’ve become a penniless
knight and have no home to offer Elizabeth.
    What would that person
    say about you?
Ah, my sweet Elizabeth would say I was headstrong, honorable,
    and yet tender of heart.
    If someone from your past
showed up, who would you NOT want it to be, and why?
‘Tis already happened, and I cannot believe I feel such hatred
in my heart. My closest friend Robert was captured in battle with me, and he returned
to England once his family paid his ransom. His estate borders Kentwood, and I fear
the king will decide to join Robert and Elizabeth in marriage and combine the two
estates for defense purposes. To see my Elizabeth joined in marriage to Robert would
    be my worst nightmare.
    Why are you happy (or
not happy) with the way your story ended?
Suffice it to say that Mistress Linwood wove her magic and gave
Elizabeth and me a happy ending beyond our dreams. She made the impossible possible,
and we owe her a debt of gratitude that reaches from now till the end of time.

    About the Author

Lauren Linwood became a teacher who wrote on the side to maintain
her sanity in a sea of teenage hormones. Her romances use history as a backdrop
to place her characters in extraordinary circumstances, where their intense desire
and yearning for one another grow into the deep, tender, treasured gift of love.
Lauren, a native Texan, lives in a Dallas suburb with her family.
An avid reader, moviegoer, and sports fan, she manages stress by alternating yoga
with five mile walks. She is thinking about starting a support group for Pinterest
    and House Hunters addicts.
    Why did you choose this
    character for the interview today?
I decided to reveal a bit about the story from Gavin’s point
of view because most romance writers immediately think of how the woman feels. I
wanted readers to see that Gavin is every bit as romantic and heartbroken over the
possibility of losing his love as a woman would be. He might be a stoic warrior,
but he is as passionate in his love for Elizabeth as she is for him!
    What genre(s) would you
like to write that you haven’t tried yet?
Actually, I’ve started on a new journey. I’ve released five historical
romances and have a sixth coming out in March. Although I love writing historicals,
I wanted to challenge myself a bit and push my creative limits. The result? Leave
Yesterday Behind, a romantic suspense, is coming out in June of 2015, and my editor
just bought a second romantic suspense entitled Illusions of Death. My goal is to
start alternating and publishing historicals and romantic suspense books each year.
    What would your readers
be surprised to learn about you?
Believe it or not, as a reader, romance is not my favorite genre!
Don’t get me wrong—I read a ton of romances and love them—but my favorite book to
pick up is a thriller. I enjoy books by authors such as Steve Berry, David Baldacci,
    and Jeff Abbott.
    Why should readers who
haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?
I’ve had readers tell me that this is their favorite book of
all the ones they’ve read of mine. They’ve said there’s just something about this
couple and storyline that touched them. It’s also the favorite of my critique partner.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your readers?
I appreciate every book of mine that you purchase and every email
when you share how much you enjoyed my characters and their love story. It’s a thrill
each time to hear these words, and it makes me want to keep telling my stories for
    many years to come.

With nowhere to turn Gavin journeys to Kentwood, where he fostered
as a boy, hoping Lord Aldred will take him on as a knight in his guard. The old
warrior is close to death, but he soon realizes Gavin is his son. Aldred plots to
have Gavin inherit Kentwood and marry his much younger wife, Elizabeth, a famed
and opinionated beauty who remains a virgin after a decade of marriage.
Will the king recognize Lord Aldred’s first request of a marriage
between Elizabeth and Robert, uniting Robert’s estate with Kentwood—or will the
temperamental Edward reward Aldred’s years of service and honor a dying man’s final
    request?
