finds him anyway in the form of Prince Finn, the rebellious young heir to the Atlantean
    throne.
When their relationship is discovered, Kyle is the one to pay
the price. Banished from the oceans, he seeks shelter in England and finds a new
    love with human, Jake Seabrook.
For Jake, Kyle is the chance to move on from the crush he has
on his straight best friend. The strange man he found naked on the beach seems to
fit into his life with ease. If only Kyle weren’t keeping secrets from him, Jake
could see them having a future together.
Things are not what they seem for either of the men and when

    About the Character

    Name: Kyle
    Age: 22
    Gender: Male
Birthplace: Somewhere in the South Pacific Ocean
    Profession: Bodyguard
    Ethnicity/Species (if not human): Merman
Describe his/her body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include
any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars:
Kyle is quite pale since he spends the majority of his time under
the water and away from the rays of the sun. He has brown hair which is cropped
short. He has found having long hair tends to get in the way when you live underwater.
His eyes are a silvery blue and an exact match in colour to his tail and fins. The
constant swimming has given him excellent upper body strength. From the waist up
he has a typical swimmer’s build. On land he is fully human and stands a little
under six feet tall, not that measurements mean much in the ocean.
Who is the significant other in your character’s life?
Kyle is torn between two different men. Prince Finn, heir to
the throne of the sunken city of Atlantis, is a merman like Kyle and Jake Seabrook
is a human living in England.
    How does your hero dress?
Naked is the preferred mode of dress
for Kyle, though he is learning that being out and about in England does require
him to be covered up to a certain extent. He dresses under protest.
What is your character’s viewpoint on wealth? Not necessary,
nice to have, important, obtain at all costs?
Kyle has very little concept of money
since it isn’t used under the ocean. On land he is actually very wealthy, although
he didn’t realize it at first. The longer he stays on land, the more he will have
to get used to things like money, but thankfully for him the funds he has are enough
that he can live comfortably for the rest of his life, even if he never does learn
the value of money. I think he will because he’s a pretty fast learner.
    Is he close to family?
Kyle looks up to his father and hope
to follow in his footsteps as the leader of the clan. He is close to his mother
and keeps a watchful eye over his younger sister. Making the right choices for his
family is of paramount consideration for Kyle, even at the cost of his own happiness.
If someone from your character’s past showed up, who would he
most want it to be, and why?
Kyle would most like to see his mother,
Maurissa. The oceans are dangerous places and although he understands her decision
to swim away from the safety of Atlantis, he would like to know she is well.
Can your hero keep a secret? If not, why not? If yes, why?
Kyle isn’t generally a secretive person,
but there is one secret which he can keep very well, that of being a merman. Of
course there are sometimes circumstances where his secret is revealed because Kyle
is the sort of person who will do the right thing even if it means revealing what
    he is.
What is your character’s biggest need at the beginning of the
    story?
After a devastating shark attack on
his nomadic community Kyle’s biggest need becomes finding a safe haven for his people.
Even if it means giving up any chance of love.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

    What do you wish your
writer had not told others about you?
I wish she hadn’t told everyone I’m a merman, but thankfully
she has done it in a way that it makes me appear as only a character in a work of
    fiction.
    Was there anything your
writer discovered about you that was a surprise to one or both of you?
My writer expected me to sit around pining over Finn when he
broke my heart. She definitely didn’t expect me to fall for someone else.
    What do you wish your
    writer would write next?
I want her to write my first lover, Dax’s story. Although we
parted on good terms I want to know that he is well and has found someone to love.
Unfortunately she tells me that although she is keeping tabs on Dax, his story isn’t
    the next one.
    What other character from
your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
Although he scares me by what he can do, I would like to know
more about Caspian. I’m just not sure he is the type to get all loved up with someone
like the rest of us. He’s not exactly sociable.
    Is there anything you’d
like to say to your writer?
I know my story isn’t over yet, but could you at least give me
a hint about what is to come?

    The Saxon Bride
Cover Love at Romance Lives Forever is a short intro to a book
and includes a cover, blurb, buy links, and social media contacts for the author.
Today’s featured book is The Saxon Bride by Ashley York.
    Genre medieval romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

In war torn England the battle lines between Saxon and Norman are clearly drawn. The Saxons must fight for everything they have in the hopes of winning their country back from the Normans who are determined to break their resistance.

Rowena Godwinson, the sole remaining member of the defeated royal
family, stands proudly against the Normans that would trample them underfoot but
her nobility and grace make her an ideal pawn in the Norman King William’s play
for power with the Saxon people. When he decrees she marry a powerful Norman knight,
her subjugation appears to be complete. The handsome soldier with the kind brown
eyes and gentle touch is a threat to her determination to defy the interlopers.
Can she hold firm to her Saxon heritage and refuse to give in to his advances?
John of Normandy wants only to prove himself worthy of the king’s
trust. He is rewarded for his service and loyalty with land, titles and a Saxon
beauty for a bride. John balks at the marriage, driven by the secret guilt of knowing
Rowena’s father would be alive still if not for him. However, John’s reluctance
is soon replaced by a burning desire to please this woman and win her over as well
    as her people.
     As their people look to
them for guidance and peace, can John and Rowena find a love that unites all of
    England?

    Researching a Publisher: 3 Author Tips by Mary Caelsto @harmoniczen #RLFblog #musecharmer

    Mary Caelsto
More choices for authors means more ways to publish and more
publishers. Having a completed, polished manuscript is only part of the work of
getting published. The next step is to find a publisher. With so many companies
arriving on the scene and going out of business, it can be difficult–maddening
even–to find a publisher. So what’s an author to do?
The very first thing I suggest to authors is to leverage the
power of a favorite search engine. This shouldn’t be the only criteria an author
uses to choose a publisher. It can, however, provide a good start. The best way
to search is to use proper terms. The publisher’s full name should be searched with
quotation marks around it to ensure that the name as an entire phrase comes up.
For example, searching “ABC Books” without the quotes will bring up results
with “books” in it, but not the ABC. That probably won’t be very helpful.
Even if the publisher has a unique name, use the quotes. What you feel is unique
may not be when searched against the entirety of the internet.
Next add a modifier. I use a word like problems or issues. The
way this looks in a search engine is like this:
    “Publisher full name” + problems
Then, look at the results that come up. Newer dates are bigger
issues, as are venues. Let’s take a moment for some honesty. No publisher will make
every author happy. This means that there is a good chance that some result will
come up. A story in Publisher’s Weekly or other high visibility blog will raise
more alarm bells than a single result from one author.
It is the author’s job to determine which issues, if any, aren’t
deal breakers. Personally and for many authors, any issues make the publisher a
non-starter. There are too many good publishers out there to get caught with the
    bad ones.
Beyond a search engine, the next step in smart publisher research
is doing some good old-fashioned leg work. Visit the publisher’s website. Look at
their covers. See if they lean heavily to a specific genre or subset of books. An
author should make sure that his or her books will fit in well with the publisher’s
literary culture (or lack thereof). A sweet romance author in a sea of erotic books
where it’s obvious the website and publisher caters toward the steamier books wouldn’t
be a good fit, for example.
Yet, there’s one more tool for smart publisher research: reading
the books. Yes, this takes time. Yes, this may be an investment. However, the prettiest
cover and best laid out website could conceal books with poor editing. If an author
absolutely cannot find time to read books, then check reviews. Many good review
sites will mention issues with editing or storyline problems.
There’s more to publisher research than these three steps; however,
by starting with these processes, the author will have a good feeling which publishers
will do right by them and whose books the author will feel proud about being among.
Taking some time in publisher research will prevent trouble and heartbreak down
the road. And, there’s a good chance it will lead to better sales.
