Category Archives: Christmas or Holiday

A romance set during Christmas or with holiday themes during the latter part of the year.

Kristina Knight, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. I’d like to get to know you better. After we talk, I’ll ask for your bio and social media. Let’s jump in to a Quick and Fun answer session.

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?
I write contemporary romance, filled with heart, heat, and (of course) happily ever after.
How do you come up with ideas?
Sometimes an idea comes from a snippet of a conversation I’ve overheard (I’m an expert eavesdropper!), sometimes from a TV show or movie, and sometimes characters just plot right into my brain without any warning at all.
What is the single most important part of writing for you?
The creating part. I love developing an idea or character and then taking that idea or character and putting him (or her) into the absolute worst situation…and seeing what happens from there!
When did you write your first book?
The summer between 5th and 6th grade. My friends and I decided we’d write books that summer. I decided to write a girl power version of the Three Musketeers. They gave up about midway through the first afternoon, but I’ve been writing ever since.

Leather or lace? Leather (lace itches!)
Black or red? Black (because, leather!)
Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Ooh…satin, please!
Ocean or mountains? Ocean, all the way!
City life or country life? Country, although I’d like to be close enough to the city to drive in for special dinner or events.
Party life or evening at home? Evening at home – with someone special, of course!
Dogs or cats? Dogs! Snuggly puppies, lazy elder-dogs…they’re my favorites!
Tell us about Christmas in a Small Town
Running out on her wedding was the best decision ever!
A cheating fiancé sends Camden Harris fleeing to her grandparents’ home in Missouri. When her ex follows, determined to win her back, Camden makes a deal with neighbor Levi Walters: they’ll pretend to be in love and she’ll support his plan to buy her grandparents’ land.
The boy from her childhood has grown up into an impressive man. His charm, good looks and sweet gestures make it difficult for Camden to remember this is fake. And Levi’s kisses only confuse her more.

The Unlikely Santa

Leigh Michaels

Merchandise is going astray and her staff is decimated by flu, but at least Brandi has a full roster of Santas. Then Zack Forrest shows up in her store, insisting he’s the perfect candidate to fill Santa’s red velvet suit.
Brandi’s new Santa is too tall, too lean, too dark, and way too sexy for the role. But he’s enough to make a jaded department store manager think twice about what she’d like to find under her tree on Christmas morning – if only she wasn’t so certain that Zack is hiding something.
The Unlikely Santa was a finalist in the Romance Writers of America RITA contest for best sweet traditional romance of the year.

Love…when you least expect it.

As a teenager in DC, Livia tagged along with her Daddy to Redskins games and explored the rich history of our country, then she moved to the bayous of Louisiana where the weather and culture of this region inspired her writing, including her storm faerie, Tempest and her military heroes. Livia’s many jobs as mail lady, salesperson, plant manager, business owner and professional singer are the conduit her characters have used to relate their stories to her. Think of her as her characters’ biographer! Down by the bayou she is protected from the alligators and bears by her husband and feisty Pomeranian, Dusty.

Ridge, Book 1

Famous fashion model Lana Maisel could have had her choice of men. But she left that life behind at the ripe old age of twenty-four to pursue her dream of a photography and production studio and now she needs one man to be the face of her franchise. The Calloway women in Buffy’s life have always said “when you meet the man you’re going to spend the rest of your life with, you’ll know.”

Ridge Romano didn’t know what possessed him to get on stage during a strip bingo contest. He’d been in D.C. testifying before a Congressional committee on veterans issues, then he’d followed the gorgeous redhead off the elevator… and here he was… up to his Special Forces tattoo in manure.

Holiday Disaster by Vicki Batman @VickiBatman #RLFblog #Holiday #RomanceWelcome Vicki Batman, author of Holiday Disaster, a holiday romance in the Season of Magic anthology.

Christmas Keepers

Every year, my family went to my grandmother’s for Christmas Eve. She provided the ham and my aunts brought the sides and dessert. It was a joyous time with family members we didn’t see regularly. Cousins, aunts and uncles, new babies. Newlyweds to be inducted in our group. After dinner, we watched Grandmother open presents. For a long time, she gave gifts too. I still have the sapphire ring and the silver ID bracelet with my name inscribed in cursive.

One year, I received a huge flat box of crayons. My mom said that it was for my sister, but I was having none of that. I loved crayons, and I’d never had anything more than the standard box for school. There were flesh colors. Gold, silver, copper. Vibrant shades of blue, coral, and greens. I could not wait to try them out.

As Christmases passed, shopping became difficult for Grandmother, and she began giving us checks, which was welcomed as it’s than making our own selections. But none have lasted like the jewelry she’d lovingly selected.

Do you have a gift from your childhood you’ve kept?

And here’s a nice gift for you! The Season of Magic boxed set is FREE. It’s full of fun and good short stories, including mine, Holiday Disaster. (Bad plumbing + Christmas = Holiday Disaster).

Noel Noel Noel by Merry Holly ~ Dumped and lonely, is it possible to find love at the local mall? Noelle thinks not, but a chance encounter with Chase Clayborne while Christmas shopping has her rethinking her rigid set of rules.

A Cinderella Christmas by Cara Marsi ~ Jessica Gallo no longer believed in fairy tales or happy endings. And she certainly didn’t believe she’d find her Prince Charming at Saks Fifth Avenue. Her Fairy Godmother thought differently.

Matchmaker Matchmaker by Bobbi Lerman ~ With Chanukah around the corner, is there enough magic left for a matchmaker to bring Molly’s cynical heart back to life?

Yuletide Bride by Gerri Brousseau ~ The Dowager Duchess’s decree that her grandson must marry before Twelfth Night or relinquish his title and fortune sends him into a tail spin. Without any prospects and with only two weeks until Christmas will Stuart Nelson find himself destitute or will he find The Yuletide Bride?

Holiday Disaster by Vicki Batman: The week before Christmas and all is in disarray when a librarian experiences horrible plumbing issues and a Mr. Maintenance Man who isn’t nearly as jolly as Santa Claus.

First, tell us about your book.

Hiding his feelings for his best friend has become second nature to Parker Hunt. Throughout his years of friendship with Jonah Lee, he’d hoped for more, but he’d never been able to tell Jonah how he felt or what he wanted. When Jonah’s plans fall through for holiday break, Parker is determined to spend their last Christmas together and this time, be brave enough to tell Jonah exactly how he feels.

Jonah Lee has always been in awe of his friend, Parker. His energy, enthusiasm, and honesty had drawn Jonah to him from the first time they’d met. And while he’s always been an open book with Jonah, lately, Parker had been holding something back. On top of that, Jonah has realized that his feelings for Parker has grown and for the first time in his life, he’s curious about what Parker’s lips would feel like under his and what his definite male body would feel against his.

Will the holidays bring everything both men want, or will they let this opportunity pass them by?

It’s official, Christmas is around the corner. Here’s a memory from romance author Tara Randel.

Getting Ready for the Season by Tara Randel

All you have to do is stop in the stores to find Christmas merchandise on the shelves. Which is fine with me. I love to browse and pick up unusual decorations. I probably have more decorations than one household needs, but I can’t resist uncovering something new in my travels. Every year it seems there is a theme that carries over in all the stores. I can never predict what the new “it” item will be, but since I love to roam the aisles, I can’t wait to discover which ideas appeal to me.

There are always the basics; evergreen wreathes, nutcrackers, angels, snowmen, specialty ornaments. Lots of choices for stockings and tree skirts. In the past few years, I’ve been on the lookout for lanterns that I can decorate for different seasons. My favorite is a old-fashioned piece that I fill with small, gold ornaments surrounding a candle. There is no limit to the imagination, no obstacle to creating the perfect scene that warms the house with holiday cheer. All you have to do is check the internet or leaf through a magazine for inspiration.

When I was a child, one of my favorite memories was going to New York City at Christmastime. One year, we attended the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Center. Another, we saw the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. Other times, we would simply shop. I remember stopping before the decorated store windows, just in awe of the magical designs that captured the wonderment of the season. Even as an adult, you never forget these wonderful holiday memories. So when I came up with the idea for a story in this year’s Heartwarming Holiday Wishes, I knew I wanted my heroine to be a window designer. Once I came up with a worthy hero, The Christmas Window was born.

Widow CeCe Walker has her hands full taking care of her nephew and staging the holiday window decorations at Dockery’s Department store. The last thing she’s looking for is romance. Jace Keller is in Christmas Town to check out the window featuring his new sportswear line. Sparks fly when the two are at odds over his display, but with a little holiday magic, can this couple find love for Christmas?
