    Errin Stevens author Updrift @errinstevens #RLFblog #paranormalromance

Errin Stevens author of Updrift answers five easy questions to help
readers get to know her better.
    Author Bio
    Errin Stevens
writes paranormal romance from her home in Minnesota, where she lives with her
husband and son. When not taming unruly storylines – or reading everything from
mythology to contemporary romance to romantic suspense – you’ll find her
swooning over seed catalogs (winter), or digging in the garden (the other three
days of the year). Visit her web site for release updates and random essays on
    writing and mothering.
    What’s your favorite
    down-home family style meal?
Here it is folks, the meal people everywhere love: Pesto Meat Loaf
    with Baked Sweet Potatoes. It’s colorful, it’s comforting, it’s good for you;
and everyone from grandma to your most persnickety foodie guest will rhapsodize.
I’ve served this dish at casual family gatherings and sit-down dinners galore,
always to rave reviews – even got profiled in a cooking magazine once for it!
Here’s the recipe for the curious:
    Pesto Meat Loaf
    1 lb. each
lean ground beef and lean ground pork
    1 tsp. salt
    and 1 tsp. pepper
    1 T. olive oil
    2 T. finely
    chopped garlic
    1 c. fine
    bread crumbs, toasted
    1/3 c. toasted
    pine nuts or walnuts
    1 c. finely
    chopped, loosely packed fresh basil
    ½ c. finely
    chopped, loosely packed fresh parsley
    ½ c. grated
    Parmesan cheese
    1 egg, beaten
    Combine meats
with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a small skillet; add garlic, cook until soft
and mix with beef and pork. Add bread crumbs, nuts, herbs, cheese and egg to
the meat mixture, mix well, and bake in a loaf pan at 400 degrees for an hour.
Serve topped with a fresh marinara sauce and baked sweet potatoes on the side.
    Yum.
    What’s your favorite
    hashtag to watch on Twitter?
    #ocean is a
hit of peace in the middle of a hectic day. Look at a coupla photos, breathe,
meditate for ten seconds and head back into the fray tranquil and unperturbed.
Those ocean and mermaid boards on Pinterest also do the trick.
    When you read for
pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?
    I’m such a
dang omnivore with my reading except when it comes to non-fiction, which I only
read if I absolutely have to, although I recently enjoyed “Blue Mind” by
Wallace Nichols. But. I usually have two novels going, one to make me think and
grow (am tackling the Time 100 with my Carpe Librum buddies at the moment), and
one commercial fiction work, which I gobble up like candy and troll through for
scene and dialogue ideas. Kresley Cole and J.R. Ward are two of my current
    faves.
    What kinds of things do
you read when you’re researching a new book?
    Goodness, I
have to hunt down all kinds of information to answer the bizarre questions I
end up asking myself when I write. Such as what varieties of tuna fish hang out
off the North Atlantic coast? And what sharks other than Great Whites are
lethal to humans in the mid-Atlantic? I search online articles, consult maps,
re-read old fairy tales and other mythology, and generally indulge any and all
curiosities that might lead to fully fleshed-out narrative. Sometimes I troll
through cookbooks and travel magazines at the local library… and you’ll just
have to peek through my stories to find out why!
If the hero of your latest
book called you on the phone, what would be a perfect ringtone for him?
    I’ve had my
concerns about Justin Bieber, but his new “What Do You Mean?” would be ideal.
In Updrift, Kate and Gabe wrestle with just the kind of confusion Beiber sings
about. Also, the melody is dreamy and addictive, which perfectly describes
    Gabe.

    Since her
father died, Kate Sweeting’s home life has been in the pits, her well-being on
life support. Her future looks desolate until she and her mother, Cara, make
another plan: abandon their shriveled existence for more promising prospects on
the coast, where Cara can play small-town librarian/bachelorette and Kate can figure
out what’s up with that secretive Blake family from the beach.
    Everyone is
eerily captivated with Kate and her mother, and Cara is the first to figure out
why when the man of her dreams arrives all dripping and devoted and
closed-mouthed about what he intends. Kate is willing to go along with their
subterfuge for a while but eventually makes a charge for the water to learn
what her mother is hiding. Gabe Blake is there waiting for her…and so is
someone considerably less friendly. By the time Kate navigates her way home,
everything will have changed for her—what she feels, what she wants, and what
she’ll risk to be with the man she loves.

    Ghost of a Chance by Author @_Ani_Gonzalez #RLFBlog #PNR

    About the Author

I write sexy paranormal small town romance (whew,
that’s a mouthful!) set in Banshee Creek, Virginia, The Most Haunted Town in
the USA. My books feature feisty, irrepressible heroines and strong,
controlling alpha males along with a host of paranormal critters (ghosts,
cryptids, pagan gods…the sky’s the limit).
I love quirky towns with spooky stories, and,
thanks to my books, I get to “live” in one year-around. In real life
I live in a Minneapolis suburb (which is sadly lacking in ghosts) with my
    family.

    Interview with Ani Gonzalez

    Why
    did you write this book?
I saw a haunted house listing in HGTV’s House
Hunters (I love that show!). The poor owners were having a really hard time
selling it. That gave me the idea for my protagonist, Elizabeth Hunt, a real
estate agent living in Banshee Creek, The Most Haunted Town in America. Poor
Elizabeth doesn’t just have one haunted house to sell. She has dozens.
The town is, as you might expect, extremely
eccentric with a haunted pizzeria, a crazy group of paranormal investigators,
and plenty of quirky characters. Those elements made writing this book a lot of
fun. I hope people enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
    What
is your favorite genre to read?
My favorite genres are Paranormal Romance, Small
Town Romance and Romantic Comedy. I have elements of all three in my books.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not
including your own)? Nyx, the Valkyrie from Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark
series. She is hilarious. I also love Betsy Taylor from MaryJanice Davidson’s
    Undead series.
    What
are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’m writing book 4 in the Banshee Creek series,
My Ghostly Valentine, it will come out in February. Valentine’s Day comes to
Banshee Creek, will the haunted town residents be able to deal with pink hearts
and pretty flowers? You’ll find out in 2016.
    Please
tell us about your latest book.
B-movie actress turned real estate agent Elizabeth Hunt
should have it made. The real estate market is thriving and she had a fabulous
house to sell. Too bad the house is in Banshee Creek, a tiny Virginia hamlet
that has been recently crowned as the “Most Haunted Town in America.”
But, with the help of the Banshee Creek Historical Preservation Committee,
Elizabeth hopes to put the ghost stories to rest. Her hometown will again be
known for its vintage homes, its heirloom apple orchards, and its historical,
not phantasmagorical, attributes, and she won’t let anyone, even her long-time
crush, Gabe Franco, stand in her way.

Gabe has a big problem. His new marketing campaign for
Banshee Creek Cidery is based on one thing, ghosts, but the Historical
Preservation Committee nutcases are trying to erase the town’s spookier
traditions. He has to stop them before they render his investment worthless. Unfortunately,
the leader of the anti-ghost crusade is all-too-tempting Elizabeth, his best friend’s
sister and the one woman who is strictly off limits. But when Elizabeth rallies
the townsfolk against him, Gabe wonders if he’ll lose his business…or his
    heart.

Ani Gonzalez, author of Must Love Ghosts @_ani_gonzalez #RLFBlog #PNR

    This quick interview includes info
about the author, and introduces the story.
    About the Author
My name is Ani Gonzalez and I write
sexy paranormal small town romance (whew, that’s a mouthful!) set in
Banshee Creek, Virginia, The Most Haunted Town in the USA. Must Love Ghosts is my debut novel.
    My books feature feisty, irrepressible
heroines conquering strong, controlling alpha males (with a bit of supernatural
help). I like folks songs, ghosts stories and sangría.
    Interview with Ani Gonzalez
Why did you write this book?
I’ve always been drawn to myths and
legends and how they can be a source of strength to people and communities.
When I started writing my small town romance the stories just seeped through
naturally. Lost souls are drawn to Banshee Creek and they find love and healing
(with a little bit of supernatural help).
What is your favorite genre to read?
All kinds of romance, but I’m
particularly fond of paranormal romance and small town romance. That’s why I
decided to write both. My books feature small town tropes (returning soldier in
    Must Love Ghosts, best friend’s
little sister in the next book, Ghost of
    a Chance
, and so on) in a paranormal setting.
Who is your favorite character from
    fiction (not including your own)?
Dimitri from Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter
series and Roarke from Nora Roberts’ In Death series. I love alpha males. Who
    doesn’t?
What are you working on at the moment,
and will see from you in coming months?
I’m finishing edits to the Banshee
    Creek holiday novella, Snowbound with
    Ghost
and revising the fourth book in the series (Valentine’s Day at
Banshee Creek!), Ghost of a Kiss.
Please tell us about your latest book.
    Abby Reed believes in
folk songs, faery tales, and ghosts, but she doesn’t believe in love. Her
fiancé died while deployed in Afghanistan, but she still has her music,
her crazy ghost-filled town, and her pen-pal-slash-best-friend, Mike Stone. But
when Mike arrives in Banshee Creek after his last tour of duty, Abby
starts to have doubts, about music, ghosts and, most importantly…love.
    A steadfast soldier,
Mike Stone follows the rules, and Rule #1 is: Don’t Fall For Your Dead Buddy’s
Fiancée. His relationship with Abby has been strictly platonic, and
will remain that way, if he has anything to say about it. But when he arrives
in Banshee Creek, a town where the impossible is an everyday occurrence,
he’ll find out that sometimes rules are meant to be broken.

#Cancer Awareness: The Nad Punch @jordankrose Her Vampire’s Promise #RLFblog

    Her Vampire’s Promise
From Kayelle Allen: This week on Romance Lives Forever I’m sharing
stories by authors who have faced cancer either in themselves, or a family member.
The importance of friends and family, and having a support system is vital. One
key to success is being able to ask for help — and then being willing to accept
it. It’s a lesson I’ve had in my own life during various times. I don’t accept help
well. It’s something I fight with all the time. I’d like to think “I’ve got
this” but sometimes I don’t have as good a grip as I thought I did. I have
a friend who’s dealing with cancer right now. A friend’s brother died from cancer
last year. Cancer affects all of us. I hope I’m even half as good a friend as those
you’ll read about in this series.

I’m presenting these posts as an opportunity for the authors
to share their real life stories, as well as their fictional ones. There’s a short
list of ways you can show your support at the end of each post.

The Nad Punch by Jordan K Rose

I’d like to start by thanking Kayelle
for inviting me to participate. Having the opportunity to talk about my experience
will hopefully help others who find themselves in the terrifying position of receiving
    an ovarian cancer diagnosis.
This past July I was diagnosed with
an early stage of a rare form of ovarian cancer, specifically- a granulosa cell
tumor. To say the news was shocking is an understatement. We received it during
a post-op visit where had anticipated hearing great results about a surgery and
anticipated a routine recovery. We did not plan to hear, “We think you should
have the other ovary removed and have chemo.”
My husband described that visit as
“it was like being punched in the nads.” I’d heard men say that expression
before, but never had a reference point until that meeting. Apparently, ladies,
the “nad-punch” experience is mind-numbingly painful and can cause you
    to forget any other thought.
We’d been warned not to Google ovarian
cancer and get worked up over what we read because this type of cancer was so different
and so rare. Of course we Googled, but we Googled granulosa cell tumor. We narrowed
our search and we searched high and low and came up with not a whole heck of a lot
    of data.
Granulosa Cell Tumors make up about
4% of ovarian cancers. There is not a great deal of research to share because of
this. Unfortunately, most of the data is “after the fact” sort of information
because the cancer is not well known. There is not a central repository for doctors
to link patients and share information on what’s happening, when it happened, types
of treatments, what worked or didn’t. There’s not a standard protocol for measuring
hormone levels in advance of surgery, which would be very helpful for every patient.
This is a cancer with high probability
of recurrence, though a great prognosis if detected early with women living many
years past the original diagnosis. It’s a slow growing cancer with definite indicators
of potential recurrence like monitoring the Inhibin and AMH levels quarterly, then
every six months after the first few years.
There are great resources for women
through the Granulosa Cell Tumor Research Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer National
Alliance. There is also a Facebook group of GCT Survivor Sisters! (you must have
a diagnosis of GCT to be a member of the FB group).
If you find yourself in the unfortunate
position of receiving this diagnosis, please utilize the groups above and feel free
    to contact me at contactjordan@jordankrose.com.
I’m more than happy to share what I’ve learned or to lend an ear and be a support
    to you.
I sought a second opinion at the Dana
Farber Institute in Boston. I encourage anyone receiving a cancer diagnosis to receive
a second opinion before deciding on treatment.
After all my research I decided against
chemo or surgery as there was no indication any cancer remained in my body. Thus
doing something drastic “just in case” made no sense. But everyone’s decision
is personal and patients need to make decisions that feel right to them.
At the Dana Farber Institute I’ve
signed up to participate in a research study to allow them to better understand
the genetics of this cancer, thus leading to a cure. I’m happy to participate and
hope other patients will consider doing the same to help find a cure.
    Below please find the information
on one of my free books, Her Vampire’s Promise, Novella One in the Romance In Central
City Series. Losing myself in books has gotten me through some difficult times and
I wanted to share a book that everyone can afford. As well, if you sign up for my
newsletter, you’ll get the second novella in the series, The Vampire’s Partner for
    free.
Wishing every cancer patient all the
best in diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
    Jordan

    Her Vampire’s Promise

Reade Hayes knows better than any vampire that nothing good ever
comes out of Central City. So he isn’t surprised the beautiful blonde he meets in
the dive bar is crazy. What does surprise him is how fast she moves, how hard she
hits, and the fact she’s wearing a ring he last saw two decades ago on the hand
    of his dead friend.
Was this the little girl he swore a blood pact to protect? Why
had her uncle lied about her death? And what had he done to make her so lethal?

    About the Author

Jordan loves vampires. She also loves to laugh. And if you know
anything about Jordan, you know her vampires will make you laugh.
A few years back Jordan received a copy of Twilight from her
husband as part of her anniversary gift. By the end of that week she’d read the
entire series and moved onto Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Eight weeks and eighteen
vampire books later the idea for her first book came to her followed very quickly
    by Eva Prim.
Having lived in Rhode Island for most of her life Jordan uses
the state as a backdrop for all her books, though many of the cities and towns and
businesses (especially the ones run by vampires) are all fictitious.
When she’s not writing about one vampire or another Jordan enjoys
