The Art of Love and Murder, #1 in the Love and Murder Series
Kicks off the series in Flagstaff, Arizona. All but one of the suspenseful romances take place in northern Arizona. One ventures to Austria to meet a grandfather and see the castle estate in the Alps. The books are linked by characters and setting, but they can be read out of order. There is suspense, love, sexy heroes, and enough villainous characters both male and female to keep the reader turning the pages. All of the books are available on audio also.

Book two stars Lacy’s best friend, Phoebe, and Chance’s brother, Mason. Lacy’s daughter, August, falls in love and danger with Inspector Tobias Wolf in book three. August’s friend, Penny, skirts danger and love with Jake in book four. Book five is the story of Laura, Phoebe’s nanny for her son, and Randy, their ranch foreman.

I really love my characters. I became so attached to them. There are times I wonder to myself how they are doing—as if they actually exist.

It all starts with Jakob Spencer. From there every author has chosen their own path. Introducing a family member or friend and then developing their nucleus of friends, family and relationships. Once upon a time a group of writer friends–helping a member with a particularly difficult thread in a continuity series contrived by her editors–got the grandiose idea to create a continuity series of their own.
Yes, this was us, and we threw ourselves wholeheartedly into developing characters, fashioning families, family dynamics, and a setting, which evolved from one member’s love of all things Colorado. We created family trees, character profiles, detailed maps, brainstormed titles and themes. We collected photos and researched and even started the stories. We proposed our idea to a few publishers and got no traction. So, after a time the contracted books came first, two members dropped out of the group, a couple new ones came and went. But the core group remained.
In a tragic turn of events we lost a beloved friend and co-writer. Grief took the remaining wind from our sails. We recovered slowly, welcomed a new friend to our critique group. Then came a day when we got together and said, “We’re going to get serious and do this!” Energy built, and the series took on new life. A previous co-creator joined us again. Now, here we are, years after the initial idea, sharing the finished stories with you and hoping you will feel the same intensity and appreciation for this project as we do.

These men broke away from their former pack to start their own. Any of them could be alphas of their own pack, but together they are unbeatable. It was only intended to be five books, but when I started writing their world expanded bringing in more characters, including the women they love.

This series is ultimately about love, loyalty, acceptance, and what it means to be a real family.

As for the secondary characters, the star is Peabody!
What is the overall theme in this series?
Second chances, change and moving forward. Not only for the people, but for the community itself. Progress may mean change, but that doesn’t mean losing what’s truly important about a person, place or thing.

Ordinary men and women who live extraordinary lives
What did you like best about writing this series?
I love the challenge of finding the ordinary men and women and the extraordinary circumstances into which I place them. For example my plan for book three is to have a prospector–fairly ordinary for the ‘old west’ encounter a fae woman, who’s been banished from her home.
What other books (not in this series, have you written?)
I’ve written a number of series. Wildfire love books 1-3 are sort of prequel to this story. The hero and heroine of The Legend of Skinner Robelard met in book 2 of the Wildfire Love Series. I’ve also written several books set in Medieval England and Scotland The Knight Chronicles is an ongoing series which will eventually link up all the heroes of those books.
