Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O’Ryan by Dee S Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #historical #romance

Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O'Ryan by Dee S. Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart @DeeSKnight #RLFblog #historical #romance 1872 Oregon. In Dee S. Knight’s ménage a trois, two unusual men share widow Regan O’Ryan, promising her that in the West, dreams–and especially fantasies–can come true. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Regan, Book 1, the Sisters O’Ryan by Dee S Knight, writing as Jenna Stewart

    Genre Historical ménage romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Joining in the westward migration, Davey and Regan O’Ryan Stone bought an Oregon farm sight unseen, hungering for adventure. Davey regretted the impulse far past the point of no return, and then he died. Now, unskilled and alone on her farm, Regan fears going home a failure–as a daughter, a wife and a farmer. With money quickly running out, she gladly accepts the offer of help from Seth Pratt, an acquaintance from the wagon train, and his friend Haywood Lawrence.

One-armed Seth seeks work at the remote farm at the end of an Oregon trail with low expectations. When he finds Regan, alone and widowed, he tamps down desire. She deserves better than a man handicapped in war, searching for his soul. She’s worthy of someone like his Shakespeare-spouting, best friend, Hay. Nothing could have prepared Seth for Regan’s simple solution–that both men stay. On the farm and in her bed.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Yes–in two sub-genre. Jenna Stewart is the name I use for ménage books (with the exception of two space opera ménage books, as Dee). As Jenna, I write historical and shifter ménage romance.

How do you come up with ideas?

I had the idea for the Sisters O’Ryan books (four of them), just kind of overnight. It felt like no real thought at all. Not sure where the idea came from, exactly. But another book I’d thought about for years was also historical. When I was a little girl, I wanted to be a nun in the worst way. My mom worked in a Catholic hospital and I was around nuns a great deal and I admired them. Back in the 1950s, nuns were very different from what we see today, so I wondered about a nun who joined the convent and was content–until she went home to Oregon to empty her mother’s house after her death. There she discovers secrets that have affected her whole life, and desire such as she’d never imagined. She was no longer content. After the passion she experienced, could she return to the convent? My publisher called it Seducing Their Nun–a title I’ve always hated. I wanted to call it Sins of the Mother, and if you give the book a try, you’ll understand why. I know people who have said they wouldn’t read the book because it was disrespectful to the church, but I promise, it isn’t! Anyway, from that book, I created a series of historical ménage romances that were connected by one character in the previous book–like six degrees of separation. The shifter books came about as a lark, just to see if I could do it.

I like ménage romance because it demonstrates that a woman can indeed love two men at the same time. However (sigh), I also think it takes very unusual people to maintain such a relationship. Not too many of them around.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Creating an idea that will appeal to readers. And it also has to appeal to me as a writer. I have lots of ideas I think would work for a book but I don’t believe in the concept I would have to write or I simply don’t understand it, so I can’t possibly write it. I want to create work that people like and I would like to read myself.

When did you write your first book?

Gosh! It makes me feel old. As Dee, I wrote Impatient Passion in 2002. I wrote Burning Bridges (as Anne Krist) in 2005. As Jenna, I wrote Regan in 2012. You see it took me a while to come around to focusing on ménage!

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Leather

    Black or red? Red, definitely

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? I know satin sheets have their problems, but what’s sexier than watching a satin sheet slip-slide off a naked body?

    Ocean or mountains? Ocean

City life or country life? City

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home, with my guys doing very naughty things

Dogs or cats? Both. I love watching their interactions

Read the hot new romance The Bachelor Party Favor by Scarlet Love @ScarletLoveauth #RLFblog #romance

Would you like to be given as a gift to the men at a bachelor party? In Scarlet Love’s new erotic novella, The Bachelor Party Gift, Cara will have to please her master, or refuse his command and pay the price. Scarlet, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about The Bachelor Party Favor.

The Bachelor Party Favor by Scarlet Love

    Genre Erotic Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

One more fling before the ringthat’s what the groom gets at his bachelor party, right?

Cara’s Master knows that a bachelor party requires bros, booze and beauty. As the Best Man, it’s his job to provide those delights. And who better to provide the beauty than his own well-trained submissive?

Does Cara have any choice when her Master decides that she’s going to be the ‘beauty’ at his best friend’s bachelor party?

She doesn’t know any of these men, and she’s never been shared before. She likes to think she’s sexually adventurous, and happy to please her master, but this event might be more than she can handle.

She won’t have to jump out of a cake, but she will be presented in little more than some strategically placed ‘wrapping’ ribbon and a pair of high heels. What more does a sex object need?

And what will happen when the groom’s ‘present’ is unwrapped in front of his friends at the bachelor party?

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

Not so far. Strictly erotica or erotic romance.

How do you come up with ideas?

Any stray thought can set off a ‘what if’, and that’s the germ of the idea. In The Bachelor Party Favor, it was actually the photo used on the cover that sparked my idea.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

I like to surprise the reader. Not every line can be a surprise, but the reader wants to be entertained, and surprises are entertaining, aren’t they?

When did you write your first book?

About fifteen years agoalthough I dabbled for many years before that.

    FUN

Leather or lace? Lace because it’s prettier

Black or red? Red, but hubby likes black J

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton

    Ocean or mountains? Ocean

The best part about being Scarlet is having the chance to make up fantastical worlds and populate them with all kinds of weird and wonderful creatures, from demons to fairies. In Scarlet’s Fantasy World, the men are tough, but the women are tougher (though usually in a different way).
Women enjoy sex and men understand it. (This is Fantasy World, remember). If the story’s not sexy, it’s not allowed in Fantasy World. The Real World has enough dull stuff. Sometimes we all need an escape from that, right? Happy endings are mandatory in Fantasy World, though there may be a lot of trouble and heartache to get there.

Read the new romance The Slow Burn by Caro Carson @TheCaroCarson #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomance

Read the new romance The Slow Burn by Caro Carson @TheCaroCarson #RLFblog #ContemporaryRomance She’s the college’s new swim coach, facing an unexpected pregnancy by a man who’s left the country–and her. Firefighter Caden Sterling is determined to be the friend this mother-to-be needs after he delivers her baby on the side of a road. Just friends…

Caro Carson, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about The Slow Burn.

The Slow Burn by Caro Carson

Genre A single parent, friends-to-lovers contemporary romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13

    Out of the friend zone

    And into the fire!

When firefighter Caden Sterling unexpectedly delivers Tana McKenna’s baby by the side of the road, the unlikely threesome form a special bond. So, when Caden offers friendship and a helping hand, single mom Tana can’t say no. Their flirty friendship slowly becomes more, until Tana’s ex and the truth about her baby catches up with her. Can she win back the only man who can make this family complete?

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…

Most of my books are contemporary romances, but I have a deep and abiding love for time travel romances. I’ve had the chance to write two related time travels, each involving women who lands on a pirate ship in 1740. Dashing sea captains are such great escapism, but I do a lot of research to get the details right. Ditto with my contemporary romances.

How do you come up with ideas?…

I am such a fan of romance novels, I love to challenge myself to write the classic tropes: amnesia, second chance romance, bad boy with the heart of gold, opposites attract, etc. The Slow Burn was my answer to the “other man’s child” trope. I knew the firefighter hero would have a very strong bond to the child if he delivered the baby on the side of the road!

What is the single most important part of writing for you?…

The characters are so real to me that I actually miss them when I finish the book. Readers who tell me they fell in love with the characters really fill my heart. It’s like hearing that someone you care deeply about is still alive and well, making others happy!

When did you write your first book?…

I wrote my first book on a cross-country car trip the summer I turned seven. My stuffed animals were the main characters, and it was all about the lives they led when there were no humans around. Fast forward a few decades, and imagine my surprise when the first “Toy Story” movie came out! I guess I’m not the only one who felt their toys led lives of their own.

    FUN

Leather or lace? I always want to be lace, sweet and delicate, but I know I’m really a tougher, more tested leather.

Black or red? Red is my power color—not very unique, I know.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? I have my grandmother’s satin pillowcases, which she used to keep her hairdo from getting too messy overnight. They work! I have very long hair, and I definitely wake up with fewer tangles when I use the satin pillowcases.

Ocean or mountains? I love them both, but I was born and raised in the Miami/Fort Lauderdale part of Florida, so I can’t remember a time when the ocean wasn’t always there as my personal play place.

City life or country life? City life. I adore the ballet, I adore pubs and bars, and I have a great fear of living too far from the nearest hospital. Weird, I know. It felt good to write a story about a woman who was too far from the hospital as her labor progressed rapidly, but who ended up delivering her baby just fine—thanks to the firefighter/paramedic friend who was with her. The handsome firefighter/paramedic. The handsome and single and good-hearted firefighter/paramedic…

Party life or evening at home? I do enjoy myself when I go out with friends, but I really have to force myself to get out of the house. Once I do, I have a great time. I don’t know why I don’t go out more often, except I’m quite happy reading books and watching movies at home. The one place that I’ll jump off the couch and run out the door to go to is Disney World. I live in Central Florida and have annual passes. Epcot is my happy place. It will be first on my list of places to go in post-pandemic life.

Dogs or cats? I’m allergic to cats. Like, super allergic. Dogs it is!

Shot Through the Heart by Andrea Downing @AndiDowning #RLFblog #historicalwesternromanceCan you have revenge on your mind when you’ve been Shot Through the Heart? In Andrea Downing’s new historical western romance, he wants to kill his sister’s murderers, she wants to help and heal the sick. Will it be trouble or love that finds them first?

Andrea, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Shot Through the Heart.

Shot Through the Heart by Andrea Downing

    Genre historical western romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Gunslinger Shiloh Coltrane has returned home to work the family’s Wyoming ranch, only to find there’s still violence ahead. His sister and nephew have been murdered, and the killers are at large.

Dr. Sydney Cantrell has come west to start her medical practice, aiming to treat the people of a small town. As she tries to help and heal, she finds disapproval and cruelty the payment in kind.

When the two meet, it’s an attraction of opposites. As Shiloh seeks revenge, Sydney seeks to do what’s right. Each wants a new life, but will trouble or love find them first?

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

I write both historical and contemporary romance and women’s fiction, but so far all my books take place in the west. I’ve been using Wyoming fairly frequently as my setting as that’s where I live part-year (pandemics permitting!)

How do you come up with ideas?

Numerous different ways! My last book, Always on My Mind, devolved from an actual fight between cowboys and hippies at my local dancehall in the ’70s; Loveland came out of something I read about British aristocrats starting big cattle companies in the west. Shot Through the Heart started with the hero’s name, taken off my Cowboy calendar. Somewhere out there, there’s a real hero!

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Character and conflict. Without really good characters, you have a very flat story, and without the conflict you have no story!

When did you write your first book?

Like most authors, that one is hidden away; mine is in boxes. It was written in the ’90s but I didn’t publish anything until 2012.

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Leather—cowhide!

Black or red? Black. A gypsy once told me I’d die if I drove a red car so I avoid red.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton—I hate satin or silk sheets. Too slippery.

Ocean or mountains? Mountains, though I’m lucky enough to live near each part-year.

City life or country life? Country, of course.

Party life or evening at home? Can I have both?

Dogs or cats? Horses please? Okay, dogs if I must take one of those.

Did you ever tell a lie for so long that even you believed it? And then get caught? Ah… Then you understand Sara in Anne Krists’ Burning Bridges.

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

    Burning Bridges by Anne Krist

    Genre Contemporary romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Not your typical “secret baby” book, this Southern romance is filled with emotion between a mature heroine and the man she used to love.

Letters delivered decades late send shock waves through Sara Richards’s world. Nothing is the same, especially her memories of Paul, a man to whom she’d given her heart years before. Now, sharing her secrets and mending her mistakes of the past means putting her life back together while crossing burning bridges. It will be the hardest thing Sara’s ever done.

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?

No. Just contemporary romance, and not too sexy. I leave that up to my sister, Dee S. Knight.

How do you come up with ideas?

Burning Bridges came to me when I heard a news report on the radio while I was on a road trip. Music is also a good inspiration. Really, how do you not come up with ideas?

What is the single most important part of writing for you?

Um…the writing. By that I mean I can have everything arranged perfectly in my head but sitting at the keyboard and hitting the keys is not easy.

When did you write your first book?

Dee wrote her first boo in 2002 but I wrote Burning Bridges in 2005. I just republished it (updated and all) this year.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? I tried satin once and slid out of bed, so cotton. It’s safer!

    Ocean or mountains? Mountains

City life or country life? Country

Party life or evening at home? Oh my gosh, I am the furthest you can find from a party girl. Give me a good book and cocoa (and my flannel jammies) and I’m happy.
