Is It True: Lord Misery by Sydney Jane Baily @sydneyjanebaily #RLFblog #historicalromanceWelcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Let’s play Is It True with today’s guest, Sydney Jane Baily, author of Lord Misery, a historical romance. This is a game with yes and no questions. Writers can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

Lord Misery by Sydney Jane Baily

    Genre Historical Romance, Victorian

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13

    A devastated viscount…

Jameson Carlyle Turner’s life has been topsy-turvy, from illegitimacy to titled nobility, from a solitary gambler to a happily married husband. When bent steel and a horrific wreckage upend his world, he buries his beloved along with his heart and his happiness.

A lady who won’t take no for an answer…

Maisie Darrow understands grief all too well. She also knows the only way to move on with one’s life is to jump back in with both feet. Longing to help the distraught viscount, she falls irrevocably in love with him, only to have her hopes dashed by a mysterious letter from home.

When she sets out on a seemingly reckless and treacherous path, Jameson vows neither time, nor Maisie’s warm attention will wear down his grief-hardened walls, for he knows he cannot survive another blow. Can she convince him to risk his heart again despite the swirling winds of uncertainty?

    Is it true:

    this is your first book?

False, this is about my thirteenth book.

this book is part of a series?

True, Book 5 of the Beastly Lords, but totally stand-alone story as all my books are.

you lost sleep while writing this book?

True, this was a tough book to write, with grief and holding on to the past and renewal and new love. Wanted to handle it sensitively and realistically.

you did research for this book?

True, I always research and learn new things, for instance a man didn’t have to wear black in Victorian times to show his grief, even if his spouse died, but if he remarried during the first year or so after his wife died, the new wife would have to be shrouded in black mourning clothing to show respect for the deceased.

some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)

True, there are horses and some lovely kittens.

this book has more than one genre?

    False.

you speak more than one language?

    True, English and French.

you grew up where you live now?

False, I grew up in Southern California and in London, England. I now live in New England.

    you love to read?

    True!

    you are never late?

    False. Bad habit.

    you love pizza?

True, one of my favorite foods, along with Mexican and Indian food.

    you love sushi?

False, I wouldn’t say love, and I am a bit squeamish, but I have had some “cooked” sushi that I really enjoyed.

    you have a pet?

True, currently my dog, Perry, and my cat, Sabby McFlabby.

    Sommerville days by Vicki Batman

    Genre: small town romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

Love blossoms in the small town of Sommerville in these heartwarming tales, filled with fun and forever possibilities.

Store Wars: The competition is heating up when Janie’s old flame returns to town and is running his family’s store. Could following dreams break her heart?

Raving Beauty: What if the love of your life was in front of you all along?

San Diego or Bust: When a young woman plans a romantic getaway with her boyfriend, disaster strikes—is her Mr. Right the right Mr. Right?

    QUICK

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…

Not technically. Even though I classified the stories in Sommerville days as small town romance, they are also romantic comedies. I write romantic comedy mysteries, too.

How do you come up with ideas?…

Lordy, stuff just smacks me sometimes, especially when people say crazy things. Once, I answered a question for an author interview–“what are two things no one knows about you.” And the answer/confession? I was Miss Oak Lawn Moped.

Way back when, my college friend owned a moped shop. We went to a party with my roommate, and after a few margaritas, he asked me to represent his store in a beauty contest. I blame the margaritas. I was weak and said yes.

So, when two writer friends saw my answer about being Miss Oak Lawn Moped, they said I should write a story which I did and titled it “Raving Beauty.”

BTW, the other answer? I am in a music video. LOLOL. I used to tell the boys I bet none of their moms were in a music video.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?…

Just writing. I have too much fun making up stuff.

When did you write your first book?…

My first book, Temporarily Employed, was started in the spring of 2003. I’d been traveling with girlfriends, and on the way home, one wanted to play car games to break the monotony. Mostly, we had to answer crazy questions, for example, pick one—Tom Jones or Englebert Humperdink. Then, she asked, “Write the opening paragraph of a book using the word window?”

My friend knew I had an urge to write. But to answer her question? I had nothing as I was fearful I would sound stupid. I got the okay to send an email with my answer. Her question bugged me. One day, I sat down and wrote eight chapters. I showed my friend who told me to keep going. I did.

    FUN

    Leather or lace? Leather handbags

Black or red? I love red but wear black.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton

    Ocean or mountains? Mountains

City life or country life? City life!

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home

    Dogs or cats? Both!

Embracing the Earl-Book 3 in The St. Clairs-by Alexa Aston @AlexaAston #RLFblog #NewRelease #RegencyRomanceAlexa Aston, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Embracing the Earl (The St. Clairs Book 3) by Alexa Aston

    Genre: Regency Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Can a rogue earl convince a stubborn bookseller their love is worth fighting for?
Read Book 3 in the bestselling “The St. Clairs” series for free with Kindle Unlimited!
Luke St. Clair, Earl of Mayfield, has tired of his empty, carefree life and seeks to find a spouse he can love and cherish, much as his brother and sister have done. Ridding himself of his mistress and lover, he commits to entering the upcoming Season with an open mind. Before the Season can even begin, however, Luke meets an independent beauty who does more than interest him.
After Lady Caroline Andrews loses her beloved sister, she decides she needs a change of scenery and travels to Boston to visit her aunt, only to be stranded for three years when England and America go to war. Once the peace accords are signed, Caroline returns to London. Discovering that her father has died deeply in debt, leaving his daughter nothing, Caroline uses an inheritance from her aunt to open her own bookstore and tearoom. Needing to support herself, Caroline declares she will never marry. Falling in love with Luke St. Clair wasn’t in her plans, but Luke is convinced the spirited, independent Caroline is the one for him.
Will the rogue with a heart for children persuade the stubborn bookseller that fate demands they wed?
Each book in The St. Clairs Trilogy is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.
    Series Order:
Book #1 Devoted to the Duke
Book #2 Midnight with the Marquess
    Book #3 Embracing the Earl

Why did you write this book?

This concludes the final romance in my St. Clairs’ trilogy, the first time I’ve written in the Regency Era—and I love it! Luke is the youngest St. Clair and a proverbial bad boy who’s tired of his empty life. I paired him with a strong Englishwoman who’d been stranded in America during the War of 1812. She’s taken on some independent American qualities during her years away from England that will make her quite the match for Luke!

What is your favorite genre to read?

I love reading everything, especially romance, suspense, and thrillers.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

    Miss Elizabeth Bennet is perfection!

What are you working on at the moment?

I’ve finished up the three novellas that feature new heroes and heroines in the Regency Era, while a few of the characters from my St. Clairs trilogy stop by for some of the fun. Readers will see the Earl of Merrifield making a fine match with a de Wolfe from the North, as well as two other de Wolfes finding their HEAs.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Embracing the Earl (The St. Clairs Book 3) is a June 22 release. The three novellas will follow later in 2019.

The Highlander’s Welsh Bride by Cathy and DD MacRae

It was over. Prince Llywelyn was dead, his soldiers fleeing before King Edward’s army. Carys, a cousin to the prince, herself a princess of Wales, had picked up arms alongside her husband more than a year ago in the fight for Wales’s independence. Now homeless, her husband buried beneath the good Welsh soil, she seeks shelter in the north, far from the reach of Longshanks’s men.
Birk MacLean has been ordered to take a bride and produce an heir. He grows weary of the lasses paraded before him, women of delicate nature and selfish motives. He desires a wife strong enough to help lead one of the most powerful clans in Western Scotland.
One like the Welsh woman sitting in his dungeon, arrested for poaching MacLean deer.
Can Birk convince Carys marriage to him is preferable to a hangman’s noose? And will the hard-headed Scot be worthy of a Princess of Wales?
From the sweeping mountains of Wales where Prince Llywelyn made his last stand against the English, to the treacherous Isles of Scotland where Vikings and pirates rule the waters, comes a tale of betrayal and loss, deceit and passion. An epic tale of honor and the redeeming power of love.
