Maggi Andersen author of Unmasking Lady Helen – The Kinsey Family Book One answers five easy questions.Please tell us about yourself.
Maggi Andersen fell in love with the Georgian and Regency worlds while reading the books of Georgette Heyer. After studying for a BA and an MA in Creative Writing, she decided to write her own. She has written over 25 novels and novellas and is working on her third Regency series. Maggi also writes historical mysteries, contemporary romantic suspense, and two young adult novels. Her books are constant bestsellers on Amazon and many have been nominated for awards. Maggi’s free time is spent feeding the local wildlife, reading, gym, movies, and BBC2. She lives in the beautiful Southern Highlands of Australia.
What’s your favorite down-home family style meal?
Roast lamb with mint sauce, broccoli, pumpkin, and baked potatoes. Apple pie and cream.
Who is your “book boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?
I’m presently reading Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child. Reacher is a ruthless killer, but with a sense of honor. He coolly works through any problems he faces, and at 6 ft 5 and two-fifty pounds with a 50″ chest, and ‘assassin’s blue eyes’, he’s definitely hot. If I was ever in danger, I’d want him around. I’m considering basing a Regency hero on him. I think he’d make a very good one.
Describe the perfect vacation.
A villa in the south of France, enjoying the local wines and food. Swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. Popping over to Cannes for the film festival.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?.
Romantic suspense, and mysteries, either historical or contemporary.
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
My research tends to wander from the language of flowers to a recipe for casseroled grouse. Terrible time waster. I’m writing a contemporary romantic suspense so I’m researching hand guns. One that fits in a lady’s handbag. For my Regency series, anything about spies, the Prince of Wales, his court, customs, fashions, food and architecture, plus the Napoleonic era. I have some wonderful books with glossy pictures of English estates and gardens.

Our greatest challenges are usually relational. A Furrow So Deep depicts the fracture of a first love by secrecy and fear, but it also points toward other less obvious threats like selfishness and unforgiveness, which can derail any relationship just as effectively.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I really enjoy cozy mysteries. Probably because they tend to have a little bit of everything each story.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
That’s actually a hard question because there are several authors whose new releases I generally look for. Lexi Charmichael is a tech-savvy, socially challenged woman who stumbles through love and a diabolical plot, all at the same time.
What are you working on at the moment?
Another book in this particular series. Laney’s story for those who’ve read A Powerful Voice. I have other stand alone novels in the works as well.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
Hopefully the third book of the Glen Oak Series, but we shall see.

Going Indie by Cailin BristeAs a traditionally published author, I’ve done most of the marketing for my sci-fi suspense romance novels. My publisher advised that I spend my time writing more books. That’s good advice. But I wasn’t ready to leave it at that. Going indie means having freedom.
Initially I focused on getting my name out there and building my author platform. (Social media, newsletters, and such.) Book sales would follow like B follows A. At least I hoped so. Hearing how well other authors had done in Kindle Unlimited, I decided I needed to take the plunge and gain new readers through that service. It Takes a Cat Burglar was written with that in mind.
The learning curve for Indie publishing was both easier and worse than I expected. The marketing wasn’t difficult because I’d done many similar things with my Sons of Tallav series published by Loose Id. There was just more of it. Hiring a professional editor was a no brainer, duplicating the process at my publisher. The real booger was formatting. Eventually I managed to create a beautiful Amazon eBook edition and release It Takes a Cat Burglar on May 7th.
Within days I realized the cover wasn’t right. I redid it but not in time for the first round of advertising. Cover matters. In June when the book went on sale I had a fabulous new cover. Still no huge rush to buy the book followed. Hmmm. A decision had to be made. Continue doing what didn’t seem to be working or change things up.
Thus, I’ve pulled It Takes a Cat Burglar from Kindle Select, so it will no longer appear in the Kindle Unlimited catalog. It also allows me to drop the price from $2.99 to $0.99. The book is also now available through Barnes and Noble, iBooks, Kobo, and Google Play. My run in Kindle Unlimited wasn’t successful. I’m still a new author. If the program continues it may be more worthwhile for my books sometime in the future.
Meanwhile, I’ve taken my publisher’s advice and continue to write more books. I’m working on Rand: Son of Tallav the third in the Sons of Tallav series. Educated by the Master will release in October in the Cosmic Love Cabaret anthology. It’s a prequel to the fourth Sons of Tallav novel which will feature Master Trey. I’ve also started on Cade’s story in the A Thief in Love Suspense Romance series.
With It Takes a Cat Burglar priced at 99 cents I hope many more readers will discover the sexy thieves Darcelle Lebeau and Sebastian St. Croix.

Destiny – is it Mayberry or Middle Earth?
It’s the height of the Para-moon and Sheriff Jack Lang is up to his ‘6’ in alligators. Defending those weaker than himself is in his DNA which is what drove him to become a Navy pilot. But who is he kidding? Alligators he could handle! But supernatural bad guys? Ragtag doesn’t begin to describe his band of temporary ‘heroes’. If he has to go to war with the group that showed up at dawn, he might as well start cutting up white sheets and attaching them to garden stakes.

Ugh, no, sorry I know some people have a passion for it. Maybe if I lived closer to fresh seafood I’d learn to love it.
you have a pet?
Yes, he is a clever terror I affectionately call – Dusty the Cajun Husky because he thinks he’s a huge lead sled dog. When he gets off his leash which is almost never, he heads North!

Karen Cino is a multi-published author of eight novels, two novellas and a book of poems and has been writing since she was fourteen years old. She started her career by writing poetry, short stories and writing article for her high school newspaper. After reading Jackie Collin’s Lovers and Gamblers and Jacqueline Susann’s, Valley of the Dolls, Karen found her niche. Karen has two children, Michael Giordano who’s a singer, songwriter and producer, and Nicole Giordano who works at Home Depot and is also a photographer. In 2014 Karen married John Gatti. Her husband is an actor, teacher and attorney.
