Veronica Scott author of Star Cruise: Marooned @vscotttheautor #RLFblog #SFR

Veronica Scott author of Star Cruise: Marooned answers five easy
questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

    Best Selling Science Fiction &
Paranormal Romance author and “SciFi Encounters” columnist for the USA Today
Happily Ever After blog, Veronica Scott grew up in a house with a library as
its heart. Dad loved science fiction, Mom loved ancient history and Veronica
thought there needed to be more romance in everything. When she ran out of
books to read, she started writing her own stories.
Three time winner of the Galaxy
Award, as well as a National Excellence in Romance Fiction Award, Veronica is
also the proud recipient of a NASA Exceptional Service Medal relating to her
former day job, not her romances!
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
I love Panda Express and I’ll have their honey walnut
shrimp, pot stickers and spring rolls plus fried rice. This all goes perfectly
with an iced tea and of course the fortune cookie!
Who is your “book boyfriend” (that hottie you read
    about and drool over)?
I have many but the guy I consistently return to is Judd
Lauren from Nalini Singh’s Caressed by Ice.
    What are your hobbies?
When I’m not writing my own stories, or reading, I like to
spend time with my grandson. We build epic Lego kits together! I enjoy going to
movies. I used to sew and do quite a bit of crafting, but now the writing takes
up the majority of my time. My sportiest activity currently is taking long
walks, although I enjoy volleyball and archery.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
I read a lot in my own genre of science fiction romance but
I also enjoy paranormal, epic fantasy romance, historical (ancient world and
Regency), and some contemporary. I’ve been known to read a suspense novel every
now and then, and I used to devour mysteries.
    What kinds of things do
you read when you’re researching a new book?
For Star Cruise: Marooned I researched all things to do with
cruise ships, the typical jobs on one, the cruise workers’ union, typical ports
of call, menus…lots of Google time. For my ancient Egyptian fantasies, I have
an entire library of scholarly tomes and again, of course the endless Google
    research.

    About the Book

    Title Star Cruise: Marooned
    Genre Science Fiction Romance
    Author Veronica Scott
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Meg Antille works long hours on the
charter cruise ship Far Horizon so she can send credits home to her family.
Working hard to earn a promotion to a better post (and better pay), Meg has no
    time for romance.
    Former Special Forces soldier Red
Thomsill only took the berth on the Far Horizon in hopes of getting to know Meg
better, but so far she’s kept him at a polite distance. A scheduled stopover on
the idyllic beach of a nature preserve planet may be his last chance to impress
    the girl.
But when one of the passengers is
attacked by a wild animal it becomes clear that conditions on the lushly
forested Dantaralon aren’t as advertised – the ranger station is deserted, the
defensive perimeter is down…and then the Far Horizon’s shuttle abruptly leaves
    without any of them.
    Marooned on the dangerous outback
world, romance is the least of their concerns, and yet Meg and Red cannot help
being drawn to each other once they see how well they work together. But can
they survive long enough to see their romance through? Or will the wild alien
planet defeat them, ending their romance and their lives before anything can
    really begin?

the countryside, she writes fantasy, futuristic, and paranormal stories where a

published, soon to be released is her lighthearted fantasy/sci-fi romance

    What’s your
    favorite down-home family style meal?
Homemade meatloaf that is topped with bacon strips (no
gravy, no ketchup or tomato sauce topping), mashed potatoes with real butter,
and cream corn. Dessert would be peach pie.
    What is your
go-to meal when you dine out?
Kentucky Fried Chicken strips, mashed potatoes with extra
    gravy, and coleslaw.
    Tell us about
your favorite toy as a child.
I never considered her a toy. She was an 18 inch princess
doll with red-gold hair and blue glass eyes with eyelids that opened and
closed. She was made of plastic, had articulated arms and legs, and had a
beautiful face and soft smile. I loved the doll and played dress-up with her
for hours— even sewed dresses for her. I have forgotten her name, but her image
is indelibly imprinted in my mind. Oddly enough, I still have the well-worn and
aged patterns for her outfits and they work for Darq, the doll-avatar-heroine
of my 2012 novel, Jewels of the Sky.
    What are your
    hobbies?
Sewing and photography. I have won ribbons at the local fairs
with my sewing and photography.  My
favorite clothing items to sew and enter in the fair are aprons and
culottes.  My favorite photo subjects are
rocks and flowers. Rocks for their textures and colors. Flowers for their
color, shape, and the play of light across their petals.
    If the hero of
your latest book called you on the phone, what would be a perfect ringtone for
    him?
The hero of Hearts Akilter is Deacon Black, a bomb disposal
expert. He lives in the future, so no cell phone.  However, if he did have a private comlink
alert tone, it would likely be the “meep meep” of the Roadrunner when
    Wile E. Coyote gives chase.

    About the Book

    Title: Hearts Akilter
    Genre: Sci-fi Romance
    Author: Catherine E. McLean
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
When a medical robot insists he’s
having a heart attack, Marlee Evans, a pragmatic maintenance technician, has
every reason to panic. There’s a bomb inside him.  Since Marlee can’t risk the bomber
discovering she’s found the device, her only option is to kidnap Deacon Black,
an unflappable bomb expert, and secretly convince him to disarm it.  Things go slightly awry when Deacon sets a
trap for someone who is trying to kill him, and inadvertently captures Marlee
instead.  Instantly intrigued by her refreshingly
forthright and gutsy attitude, he’s smitten.
Unfortunately for Deacon, Marlee recently hardened her heart and swore
off men, especially handsome ones with boy-next-door grins.  But as Marlee and Deacon attempt to identify
and prevent the bomber from detonating the device, they discover that love may
be the most explosive force of all.

    the late 1800’s.

you read when you’re researching a new book?
Michael Cannon books are always helpful, as too are books
from our own Bush Tucker Man Les Hiddens.

my father and stories from his family.

    Author Faye Hall
Book heat level (based on movie ratings):R

…She had seen something that would continue to haunt her and
    follow her wherever she went.
When she had married the Earl of Malloy, Prue had hoped to
be able to hide under his name and at his out of town estate.
What she had not thought was to become his son’s MISTRESS OF
    PURITY.
Gareth had sworn never to return to his father’s estate, not
to the life he had once thought to have there.
He had hoped that the man he had grown in to was no longer
hoping to find the love of a woman he knew could not possibly exist.
What Gareth had not wanted was to find his comfort in the
arms of his father’s young wife…a woman he knew was hiding far more than just

    S. B. Redstone author of Stardust Dreams@sbredstone #RLFblog #romance

    S. B. Redstone, author of Stardust Dreams answers five easy questions
to help readers get to know him better.

    Author Bio

My first careers in life were helping people. As a
caseworker for the New York City Department of Social Services, Protective
Services, I investigated the horrors of the abuse and neglect of children.
After attaining master’s degrees in School Psychology and Clinical Social Work,
I continued to help children ins schools and my private practice, along with
adolescents and adults. Always striving to improve his understanding of human
nature, I researched and then wrote a personal improvement book, Taming Your Inner & Outer Bullies:
    Confronting Life’s Stressors And Winning.
    Always having a vivid
imagination and a desire to write fiction, I first wrote short stories that
were published on the web and in print. My first novel A Sinister Obsession was
published by Black Opal Books as well as this current novel, Stardust Dreams. I
am a member of the International Thriller Writers Organization and Romance
    Writers of America.
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
My favorite meal can only be found at a diner where the
dinner includes an appetizer, soup, salad, main course, and coffee and dessert.
With that said, I begin with pickled herring in cream sauce, matzah ball soup,
plain salad with thousand island dressing, bread, stuffed filet of sole with
crabmeat, mashed potatoes and gravy, and corn. Lastly, chocolate cream pie, and
coffee. Of course I can’t finish it, so most comes homes.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
I just came back from it. Three days in Paris and Prague,
riverboat down the Danube, which went through Germany, Austria, and Hungary.
Great food, beer, sightseeing, and friendship. However, it wasn’t perfect
    because I didn’t play golf.
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
It was a gun. And with that gun I had power. I could be a
cowboy, soldier, and policeman. I created so many exciting scenes and stories,
which continue to this day. These days kids and violence is frowned upon, but I
didn’t become the bad people I was shooting, I was the good guy. And I am still
    the good guy.
    What are your hobbies?
As a retired person it’s bowling, tennis, golf, and fishing.
I am an artist and photographer and my paintings and pictures adorn the walls.
Cooking is a great love especially making desserts, bread, and soup.
If the hero of your latest
book called you on the phone, what would be a perfect ringtone for him?
    The theme from Star Trek.

  • 5 Easy Questions,  Paranormal

Stacy McKitrick author of Blind Temptation #RLFblog #PNR

Stacy McKitrick author of Blind Temptation answers five easy
questions to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Stacy McKitrick fell in love with paranormal romance,
decided to write her own and found her passion in life. She used to work in
accounting, now she spends her time with vampires, ghosts, and aliens. Born in
California, she currently resides in Ohio with her husband. They have two grown
    children.
    Who is your “book
boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?
Gosh, I’ve had so many “book boyfriends” it’s kind of hard
to pick (it’s also hard to remember them all—bad me!). I guess the one that
stands out the most, though, would be John Matthew from the Black Dagger
Brotherhood series. I’ve liked him from the first moment I read about him and
loved, loved, LOVED his book (Lover Mine). Of course, now that I think about
it, I drooled a lot over Edward Cullen, too (the Twilight series introduced me
to paranormal romance and I was HOOKED!).
    Describe the perfect vacation.
The perfect vacation is one where I don’t have to cook or
clean. Haha! I love going on cruises because I can visit multiple places and
only unpack once (the hubby and I already have three booked within the next 17
months). But I would love to stay at a place on the beach so I can sit on the
porch (or open the windows) and listen to the waves at night. Provided it’s
    warm, that is!
    Tell us about your
    favorite toy as a child.
For my tenth birthday I got a Polaroid Swinger camera (see
this ad for it on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7k2uwJmwxo).
I LOVED that thing. Instant pictures!! Yeah, now it’s a joke, but back in 1967
it was a miracle! I think I used up a whole roll on my birthday just taking
pictures of my friends. It was the best birthday present, ever. Well… until my
fifteenth. That’s when I got my telescope (I loved that thing, too and still
    have it).
    What are your hobbies?
Lately, all I do is write and read (because it’s fun, what
can I say?). But I have been known to crochet a lot in the past. I’ve made so
many afghans, I ran out of people to give them to. Same with pot holders and
doilies. I crocheted a tablecloth for my friend that took me a couple of years
to complete. Thought I was going to go blind (or get arthritis). I pretty much
quit after that project (except for crocheting the occasional scarf). But I’m
sure if one of my kids ever decides to get married and have kids, I’ll be
crocheting a blanket for the little one!
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
I like reading different stuff: paranormal romance, romantic
suspense, thriller, horror. Normally, my favorites are in third person with
multiple points of view. I say normally, because I do have some favorite series
that are in first person (urban fantasy or YA paranormal). I like some danger
in my books; they just make for a fun read. And the romances I read must end in
a happy ever after (no cliffhangers, please!!).

    About the Book

    Title Blind Temptation
    Genre Paranormal Romance
    Author Stacy McKitrick
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

years ago and the thought of being treated like the 17-year-old she resembles
frustrates her. But when she discovers that Ben, her hot & sexy driver’s ed
teacher, is blind, she gives into temptation and flirts. She never expects to
    fall in love.
